    Home Sweet Home :???:

….His tongue firmly planted in his cheek, Panik thanked Brown. “Michael Brown is a truly beautiful soul, devoted to philanthropy, and has the highest honor in my heart,” Panik said. “I sincerely hope to make him proud by using his generous donation to achieve my supreme goal.”

While not in class, Panik works as a web developer with Plexamedia, and as a technical director at a church in Rome, GA. He said that was primarily interested in filmmaking and was focused in producing documentaries. His first feature-length documentary, Thrift Store Symphony is in post-production and will premiere next fall. “I’m so glad my Chicken McNugget scheme kind of took off just in my network, honestly, Panik said. “I’d love to see more people find this, and realize that maybe, if you want something, you should spend less time asking people for money, and going out there, working, and getting it for yourself.” Panik wasn’t sure when he would be seeing his windfall.

“I’m not totally sure, but I hope it’s soon,” Panik said. “Ya boy is hungry.”

Hey, TOD, you left me talking to myself!!!!!

Good evening, TOD! Have I mentioned lately just how much I <3 Costco? Labor Day weekend, I purchased three packages of fresh salmon. When I opened them the next day I didn't like the smell so I double wrapped them and threw them in the freezer. Had to "Plan B" my dinner party and order chinese. I called the manager on September 8th with my complaint to him I was returning them on my next visit. His response was "no problem, return them at your convenience for a full refund AND three complimentary packages of fresh salmon, we stand behind our fresh products. "My convenience" was tonight, 2 months and 19 days later. The customer service folks couldn't have been nicer!

Oh, and gas was $2.04 — THANKS OBAMA!

Just hours before GOP candidates take the stage here Wednesday night, tensions over the Republican National Committee’s handling of the debates are flaring anew.

    At issue this time: greenrooms.

During a tense 30-minute meeting at the Coors Event Center, which was described by three sources present, several lower-polling campaigns lashed out at the RNC. They accused the committee of allotting them less-than-hospitable greenroom spaces while unfairly giving lavish ones to higher-polling candidates, such as Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

The drama began Tuesday afternoon as RNC officials led campaigns on a walk-through of the debate site. After touring the stage, candidates got a peek at what their greenrooms looked like.

Trump was granted a spacious room, complete with plush chairs and a flat-screen TV. Marco Rubio got a theater-type room, packed with leather seats for him and his team of aides. Carly Fiorina’s room had a Jacuzzi.

Then there was Chris Christie, whose small space was dominated by a toilet. So was Rand Paul’s.

    ///

But with some campaign advisers steaming over what they’d seen during the walk-through, the discussion veered back to greenrooms.

“This is ridiculous,” fumed Christie’s campaign manager, Ken McKay. “We’re in a restroom.”

Paul’s team also piped in, with one adviser, Chris LaCivita, demanding that something be done to remedy the situation.

“Was there any advance done on the campaign work spaces?” he asked. “Because it sure as hell doesn’t seem like it.”

Love the images here- and am I the only one thinking the message to lower-polling candidates is that everyone knows their campaigns are circling the drain? :)

What a wonderful President! And clueless corporate media pundits have the audacity to spread a false meme that President Obama is “aloof, and elitist, ” and does not mix well with ordinary people. The pic of the President, thoroughly enjoying a basketball game between Chicago and Cleveland, debunks the corporate media’s false meme.

Just peeking in before bed and had to swoon, I mean comment, on our FINE, FINE, FINE, comander in chief! OMG! That grey hair with that skin and those eyes is just, well, as you all say here in the village, “naughty-mat” inspiration. PBO has grown even more handsome than when he was younger. If he and George Clooney were in a movie together, Clooney would have to play the “friend/buddy” role, as POTUS would clearly get the girl.

O.k., off to naughty-mat land for me (no disrespect to our lovely FLOTUS; she gets him in the flesh; at least let me have him in my dreams :-) )

PS: I’ve always had to type in my name and email everytime I comment here, but tonight, my info was already filled in when I clicked “leave a reply”. I guess I’m in bizarro world!

after the shock of seeing that child-abusing cop beat up on that poor girl in the classroom, my first thought was that there must be some significant trauma that girl has in her life to be so despondent like that. if these new reports are true that her mom and grand mom have died in the past year, and that she was recently put into foster care, it makes sense now. what she needs is someone consoling her and helping her, and instead she got this cop. horrible. hopefully sane people can step in and give her what she needs to get better.

      GM 4morefor44.

Haven’t followed the coverage of this event much, though it is the top current event story now.

What I don’t get is why the teacher didn’t ask the “unruly” girl (if you believe @cbsradionews — it’s their lead story this morning and that’s the term they use — gah) to stay after class and then actually talk to the girl — especially if she’s a new student… my guess is that it’s Teaching 101 to acknowledge that the teacher knows how uncomfortable/traumatic it is to join a class after it has started (student feels like an outsider because everyone in class knows each other’s names and the new student is playing catch up).

Why didn’t teacher ask student to stay after class to talk? Or if other classes interfered, set up a time to do so? (Didn’t have campus police at public school in my day.)

There are so many ways for well-trained teachers and administrators to deal with students who they feel are not following the rules that are light years before this kind of abusive over-response (the entire atmosphere in that classroom spoke to institutional fear and intimidation). I was a teacher for over 30 years, taught all kinds of students on all ability levels and never had to call in cops. I was the smallest person in the room, but from day 1 I had the respect of my students. They did all things that teenagers usually do, but anyone who understands kids can find ways to de-escalate things; that is our job. 90% of what a teacher does is classroom management.

Great comment, CEB (see my response to 4morefor44 a few moments ago).

Love that we’re both vertically challenged, LOL, and if IIRC we’re almost exactly the same age, so share similar recollect of past current events.

      Way to go, CEB!
