Christopher Flavelle: Obamacare Is Closing Insurance’s Race Gap
a new paper shows one place where the law has been a clear success: narrowing the race gap in health insurance. So why aren’t more Democrats shouting that from the rooftops. In 2013, the year before most of the law’s provisions for subsidized insurance took effect, non-elderly blacks were 47 percent more likely than whites to be uninsured.
For American Indians, that figure was 93 percent; for Hispanics, 120 percent. In 2014, not only did the share of whites without insurance fall; the share of blacks and Asian Americans fell by more. The difference between whites and Hispanics shrank, from 14 percentage points to 11.8 percentage points. What’s odd about the race gap isn’t its persistence, but that its narrowing isn’t more celebrated as one of the law’s accomplishments. Narrowing the race gap in health insurance counts unequivocally as progress.

I like the concept and the dancing is beautiful, but somehow the choreography doesn’t seem to match the music. It’s almost like they were dancing to something and the video editor decided to dub in Queen’s song instead. Maybe it’s just me.

Viewers are noticing the extreme amount of airtime that CNN and MSNBC are devoting to Donald Trump, and they don’t like it.
Over 200,000 viewers have signed a petition telling the two cable networks to stop promoting Trump’s “racist and homophobic” campaign.

Hopefully they’re following through and turning the channel if they see him come on, and encouraging others to do same.
As with other things, loss of revenue is the only thing that sends a message to corporations and their interests. Appeals to shame, decency or morality won’t work.

Kasper came through the surgery great. They removed all the bladder stones. It can take as long as two weeks to get the results of what kind of stones they are. He can come home maybe as early as 8:00 a.m. tomorrow! He will be able to do the bungalow stairs, just no running or jumping. and of course, keep him quiet while he has the stitches.

We have an emergency and specialty care facility 5 minutes from us. They saved Kasper’s life when he was attacked by a pit bull. They have a full surgery facility and that’s where we took him, rather than our one-man-shop vet even though he is very good.
Kasper had a “personal” nurse until the shift change and then another personal nurse. We could call anytime we wanted to check on him (I called at 4:00 a.m.) We could have visited but he would have been upset when we left.
He should come home this morning.

That’s great news that Kasper’s surgery went great.
Had that been me I would either have thrown myself around his neck and they would have had to use the jaws of life to get me off, or I would have fainted and fallen all the way down the mountain. Or possibly what I did when I met Paul Newman, which is stand and gawp like a lunatic while he shook my hand.
Here is what I think is Trump’s “special sauce.”
First trump uses the GOP so-called Southern Strategy. Which means whites preferred.
Build a wall, on southern border only, naturally.. Accept no refugees from Middle East or Africa.
Repeal that equality providing Obamacare. repeal repeal repeal
So far, so good, says the GOP establishment.
Here is the catch.
Trump assures his supporters that Medicare and SS will be safe. Unchanged and protected. No increased age eligibility requirement.
That is why Cruz and Rubio, let alone Jeb! or Christie have no shot against Trump
Zero. NO chance.
No matter what polls say. People ashamed to admit they are voting for Trump will lie to pollsters.
Unless something wildly unforseen happens Donald Trump has already won the GOP nomination.
