Okay, now I feel like a ridiculous piece of crap for coming up with the pic above - LOL posted a link to the video of the exchange between Romney and this gay veteran …. I despised Romney before this, now, honestly, I have no words:
I am not in general gaga over babies (except my own!) but that picture of President Obama and the tiny baby moves me in such a visceral way, I can’t stop looking at it. The babe looks as though it’s just snuggling into him and he is so gentle, strong, and protective.
When the First Lady were talking to the kids today, she talked about how she loved to be around kids, she and POTUS are just wonderful with kids. They are real and kids are drawn to them.
maryl1, I’m guessing that infant can’t be more than a week old, what do you think? That a mother would trust a tiny infant like that to President Obama is a wonderful example of complete and utter trust — it’s a beautiful photo.
I agree - that mother knows her baby is in good hands. It seems that most of the other politicians who hold babies keep them sort of away from their bodies-very uncomfortable. But President Obama just hold them close and focuses totally on them. They know they are safe with him.
Yes, thought the same thing, Joan. That the mother would bring such a tiny little guy to the event shows how much it meant to her and how much she wanted to one day tell her son. “You were there.” Now she’s got a photo that will make her little boy feel special all his life. That’s trust on her part and it’s also love. t
I see that picture and think of the juxtaposition of it with the picture of all those college students’ hands reaching up to touch PBO’s hand - with that same black waatch in the picture. One of PBO with those big caring hands cradling that tiny child and one of all those hands reaching out to touch PBO’s hands.
Sweet Sweet irony…Looks like the Angry Teletubby will lose his Secret Service protection tonight. And being the egomaniac he is, Newt was not the one who decided this, it was the Obama admin.
Chipsticks, when I first clicked on to this thread, all I saw was POTUS with the tiny baby, then the FINE photo of POTUS, then somewhere I blinked and you fell off the rails……WHAT HAPPENED???!!!???@@@!!!!!!!!
The vet asking Romney about DOMA was courageous - I’ll give him that.. although I question his sense when he actually “entertained” the idea of voting for Romney if he would have have agreed on ending DOMA. There are many reasons not to vote for Romney. many many many. I really believe that President Obama will repeal DOMA as he did DADT. And I think it behooves us all as citizens to let him know that we want him to, that we will have his back in every part of this country when he steps up to that battle. One thing POTUS knows, I believe, is that no one accepts for long being without the same rights and freedoms that everyone else has.. our entire history proves that we allll yearn to be free and we never give up the fight. He knows this and he gets it, I believe that fight is coming, along with Immigration. The next 4 years are going to be more powerful, more history-making than anything we’ve seen before. I believe that.
Yes, and he’ll be doing things that he dare not touch in his first term. He is going to take out his veto pen and mark up bills that he doesn’t agree with and he’s going to do what he has to do and take questions later. Can’t wait.
I had to do it. Mitt Romney shirtless:

Oh I did…and I loved every minute of it. The sun glistening off of Newt’s dolphin like abs, the way the wind tussled his dusty grey mane, the rising of the hot pink pants he was wearing… Okay, I’m done :) I will say it is no where as bad as that mankini pic- now that image will be seared into my head well after the election.
On that “jeans” pic. Who wears a tie and dress shirt with country jeans? OT, VP and his “big stick” analogy of PBO. Joe is Mr. Gaffe, gotta love ’em :-D . Good nite, TOD.
Hello TOD family. I have been lurking, scanning, scrolling for days……just no time to comment. I just had to say hello and also comment about the vote regarding the DAWA. I am glad I was sitting down when I saw that my two TN senators names was not on the list of “no” votes. Guess I’ll have to call and give kudos where/when due. Lord willing, I will be back home next week with more time to be a part of the family again.
Sweet, vc. Thanks for asking. She is about the same. Haven’t seen her since last Wednesday. My brother did call me yesterday and he has seen her twice since last Wednesday and said she is okay. I was in northern VA over the weekend for a memorial service of a dear, dear friend; then came to my daughter’s (Chesapeake) Monday. Am enjoying the grandkids and my daughter.
President Obama will sign an executive order Friday aimed at rooting out fraud and abuse of federal programs aimed at helping members of the military, veterans and their families go to college.
Obama will travel to Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Ga., to take steps to “ensure that service members and veterans and their families have the critical information they need to make informed decisions that protect them from aggressive and deceptive targeting by education institutions,” a senior administration official said Thursday on a conference call with reporters. He’ll be joined by first lady Michelle Obama, who has made military families a priority with her Joining Forces initiative.
It’s been well-documented that some institutions – particularly for-profit colleges – target military and veteran students in their recruitment efforts without taking into account the readiness of those students for college-level classes, all in the interest of drawing in federal financial aid dollars and not necessarily in the interest of students.
The Education Department has already taken dramatic action aimed to rein in abuses of the for-profit colleges, with regulations on gainful employment and incentive compensation that have begun to take effect, but those rules are not enough when it comes to oversight of benefits for current members of the military, their spouses and veterans receiving support through the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Evening, Ms Chips. I’ve been meaning to ask you, did you tamper with the Mitt and woman-in-hate photo? She has SUCH a look that every time I see it I burst into laughter. That look so expresses how i feel about him but would not have been courageous enough to show to his face. Talk about being unaware of ‘social’ cues and Mitt takes the cake!
Marco Rubio’s foreign policy vision sounds more like Obama than Romney
April 26 (Bloomberg) — Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a potential Republican vice presidential pick, outlined a vision of foreign policy that sounded more like President Barack Obama’s than that of Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee.

Thank you Chips, for all of the wonderful videos and all that you do here. The video of FLOTUS just made me feel so good to know that such an intelligent, classy, beautiful woman is the wife of our Commander-In-Chief. I am so looking forward in seeing them together tomorrow and in campaign mode next week. Which I may add will be an early two- day birthday present for me.
I cannot tell you how good it feels to celebrate your birthday and Mothers’ Day so close together and now this! I will be in 7th Heaven. It does not get any better especially when you do the best you can with what you have to raise your kids and they grow up with good morals, love for others, respect, integrity and a sense of purpose.
Our First Lady was so calm, relaxed and truly enjoyed answering the kids question as much as they seemed to enjoy being there. It was just so honest and real. I too, secretly wish they would have a baby in the WH simply because they are so loving and nurturing.I would probably never stop smiling……I mean all day type smiling.
Good night everyone. Sweet sleep.
heads up people, we knew it was coming and here it is: the rightwingers are “recycling” their story about FLOTUS’ trip to Spain many, many years ago. given that there are multiple gop-supporting news outlets that are carrying it now, it appears that this is their new plan of attack on her for the next few days. we will need a huge pushback
If those sick right wing bastards think Ann Romney is off limits, then they better leave FLOTUS along. These right wing nuts are racists sick bastards.
Thank you Chips - the picture of PBO with that babe is almost unbelievable with the care and calm showing through. It’s like he says to everyone - “I’ve got you babe - no worries”.
For anyone still awake - a new post from stonekettle station - with its usual wit & much insight. A twist in the tail.

I wonder how much the Romney campaign paid Donnie Deutsch to sell his soul just now on Morning Joe. For someone like Donnie to imply that the Republican “celebrity ad” making fun of President Obama is a game changer and a very effective and brilliant ad because it takes PBO strength and turn it into a weakness, and could cause the Obama campaign serious problem in the general election would be laughable if it wasn’t coming out of the mouth of a self described “liberal democrat”. When Sam Stein and to a lesser extent Mika are the only two sane minded people on the panel, then you know the world has truly gone insane. These people are not even pretending to be objective anymore. It’s okay though, because what it shows is that they know are screwed. They now know that their boring vanilla plastic candidate has no chance in hell of beating President Obama. You can see it in Joe Scarborough’s face everytime he tries to spin every negative to positives for Mitt Romney.
Douche is a troll, and a poor one at that. Next thing you know, the RNC will start recycling Britney and Paris again.
Only problem is, they say he is losing support in every group, including Vulcans, but now are back to saying he is a celebrity. You can’t have it both ways!
This summer millions of Americans could find a check in the mail from an unexpected source: their health-insurance company.
Consumers and businesses will receive about $1.3 billion by this August from insurance plans that failed to meet a new standard in the 2010 health-care law, according to estimates released Thursday by the independent Kaiser Family Foundation. (That’s assuming the law, or at least the portion of it containing the rule, is upheld by the Supreme Court, which is expected to issue its decision in late June.)
The rule requires most insurers to spend at least 80 percent of the premiums they collect from customers on health-care claims or quality improvement efforts — leaving no more than 20 percent for administrative expenses, such as salaries and marketing, and profits for investors.
In a nondescript store front next to a Pembroke Pines gym, Florida Democrats launched a major offensive this week to boost their ranks despite a Republican law that makes the voter-registration push harder than ever.
President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has closely studied the registration-crackdown law for months and devised a step-by-step quality-control process and is ready this weekend to train hundreds of volunteers at its 24 offices throughout the state.
The battle for the White House could literally hinge on the effort in a state where President George W. Bush won his first term in 2000 thanks to a margin of 537 votes in Florida.
But long before Election Day, Democrats will gather in meetings much like the one led Wednesdayby Organizing for America Florida activist Meghan Hardy. Bearing a chipper attitude and a Power Point presentation, Hardy taught about a dozen volunteers the dos and don’ts of voter registration. She gave a six-question quiz at the end.
“When we just register someone to vote, we don’t just register them and then stop,” Hardy said.
Pembroke Pines is the place that CCA wants to build a ” for profit ” prison for undocumented immigrants…
Both Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Bill Nelson have taken money from them and have signed a letter endorsing the prison….
Other Democrats are really pissed about this in Congress and in Florida…they are trying to stop it….yet we have the chair of the DNC jumping on for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
The “Desperate Housewives” actress explains how she walks the political talk and why she would never run for office.
This story originally appeared in the May 4 issue of The Hollywood Reporter.
With Desperate Housewives wrapping, I’m going to dedicate most of my free time to the Obama campaign. The communities I’m an advocate for are the women’s and Latino communities. The big picture is that people need to stop looking at the Latino community as us vs. them. The Latino community is American; its concerns are the same. The economy is the No. 1 issue, second is education, then health care, and immigration falls fourth or fifth.
What’s important is what President Obama has done to help Hispanics in attaining higher education. There are now 150,000 more Pell grants available to Hispanic students. The Affordable Care Act would allow more than 9 million uninsured Latinos to have affordable health care. When it comes to Social Security and Medicare, he’s been safeguarding those entitlements for millions of Hispanic seniors who’ve invested in and depend on the program.
I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion - I love Eva. I know she gets it because she was raised from very humble roots. I have seen a biographical video of her life story and she is genuine about her concerns for the poor and marginalized.
It always takes you guys a little while to wake up.
Good Morning to one and all!
And stay away from Morning Joe, he tells us all we are doomed, according to Joe, you would think it’s the end of the World and America has no chance!
LOL!
I when saw the video of Romney’s exchange with that veteran, I actually felt like crying, the blatant disregard of one man by another man blew me away. I have been a President Obama supporter since I first heard him speak in 2004, I’ve given to his campaign and I’ve spread his word far and wide. But that video touched me deeper than anything I’ve seen in about the last five years. As far as I’m concerned, Mitt Romney is a lost soul with a bunch of money. I barely make ends meet, but I wouldn’t trade places with Romney for all the money in the world.
Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York said that Mitt Romney is a man without a core, but of course he endorse that man without a core. It’s like the pastor who said Mormon was a cult, then he comes back after Santorum drops out and endorse that Mormon, Mitt Romney.
Dear Don, please know that you are richer than Mitt Robme will ever be….you have a soul, integrity, respect for others and love in your heart. Your need will always be met because you care. I pray that today and until that all the desires in your heart will be met abundantly.
Your compassion touched my heart. PEACE.
Don, and LDS, you have both been in my Mind and my Heart today. I am so with you in this, Don, I have never had much money, but always had work when I wanted it and a roof over my head when I wanted it. I will never have much money, and I am okay with that, because I have learned in my upper middle age that things money can buy come and go in our lives, but the love we share with others, our responsibility to the planet, and our willingness to work hard toward a better future fo those who have so little, these are the things that will bring us peace on our deathbeds. Bless you both, blessings to our TOD family, even when they are being a little naughty!
Am I lucky again?
I guess.
Oh yardarm, my slope slipped in just ahead of you. :-)
‘S awright! sob, sob.
:D
Hello Yardarm!
Congrats GGail on #1!
Hiya, hopefruit2!
Ahola Pamela!
Thanks hopefruit2 - I can’t believe my luck today, twice in one day. HA!
So it would seem! A tad luckier than me! And Yardarm!
It’s my fifteen seconds of fame Pamela
It sure looks good on you GGail! I remember how much fun we had on your birthday! That was a hoot!
I have my moments Pamela - and they are so easy to have here with my TOD family. Love flows easily with an open heart.
Oooooooooooooooooooh yeah!
Get a room :)
Yea, enough with that already. Ruse people.
I mean either have a White House Baby or STOP TEASING US WITH THESE PICS:)
I HAVE BEEN ASKING THEM FOR A WHITE HOUSE MINI OBAMA FOR I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG…THEY IGNORE ME!
Love POTUS and FLOTUS.

Thank you df!!!!!!!!!!
Saw that! You’re simply AWESOME!!!
I am not in general gaga over babies (except my own!) but that picture of President Obama and the tiny baby moves me in such a visceral way, I can’t stop looking at it. The babe looks as though it’s just snuggling into him and he is so gentle, strong, and protective.
You see the way POTUS is with Malia and Sasha, that he is a dam good father. I’m sure he change many of diapers, done many late night feedings.
When the First Lady were talking to the kids today, she talked about how she loved to be around kids, she and POTUS are just wonderful with kids. They are real and kids are drawn to them.

Yea, same here. He is so tiny and so safe in Barack’s hands (I call him Barack from time to time. This is how we roll).
We know the two of you are on a first name basis, so no problem. Although I hear he just calls you water.
Heeeee. Actually he calls me spring-water. He is so romantic.
Hee!;)
So true, Mary, so true.
As noted yesterday in tweets to several folk:
That child feels his warmth and gentle spirit, totally.

I love all the pictures of people reaching out to hold his hand.
I now know what folks mean about Robme and his jeans! Never saw such. My 97 yo Dad wears jeans better.
He reminds me of an againg Fonz in that picture.
That picture of Romney in his jeans is just wrong.
Just out of curiosity, in addition to all of his other issues and personality disorders could Romney have a bad breath problem?
ROFLMAO
LOL!!!!!!
Only one way to find out. Go meet him, shake his hand, go in for a kiss. No, scratch that. Sorry, wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
Sweet Sweet irony…Looks like the Angry Teletubby will lose his Secret Service protection tonight. And being the egomaniac he is, Newt was not the one who decided this, it was the Obama admin.

Oh my Ms. Chips…I believe its “off to the naughty matt” for you with that “just sayin” picture.
I’m going to blame you for what’s going on in my mind after looking at that one! How deliciously evil of you.

Hey Chip, I totally expect you to bring us some visual proofs that the president has a big stick.
I’m sure POTUS and VP Biden will have a good laugh about this.
I will not comment if FLOTUS and POTUS will have a good laugh about it. I refuse to comment.

I should say, though, that the guy on the right is the biggest worthless dick in the history of mankind.

To be honest, Me4Obama, I’m pretty horrified by how much BWD is lowering the tone around here, it’s HUGHgely shocking.

“The sun glistening off Newt’s dolphin-like abs?!?!?”
Oh LAAAWWWD! HAHAHAHA You are too much LOL! And please don’t give Chips any ideas about that Mankini photograph!
I wrote that, HF, then I read your comment here… Right on!
LOL, you have no mercy. Stop before we see scrawny little Ron Paul and I’ll have to give up having breakfast.
So fit. So hot.
Oh … ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

Nice stick — just like one I would want.
On that “jeans” pic. Who wears a tie and dress shirt with country jeans? OT, VP and his “big stick” analogy of PBO. Joe is Mr. Gaffe, gotta love ’em :-D . Good nite, TOD.
It’s not a gaffe. PBO used same quote from Teddie Roosevelt in one of his recent speeches on foreign policy.
“Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
I didn’t mean VP blew it, I meant how it came off……it was funny, and LOD and his 2 guests caught the humor in it. Harmless.
Great captions! Thanks.

heads up people, we knew it was coming and here it is: the rightwingers are “recycling” their story about FLOTUS’ trip to Spain many, many years ago. given that there are multiple gop-supporting news outlets that are carrying it now, it appears that this is their new plan of attack on her for the next few days. we will need a huge pushback
The Booman Tribune wrote a really, really good piece on this.

I’Good Morning everyone! It’s Friday now!! I’ve been playing catch -up….great posts…great tweets!
That was one hell-of-a-video at the top, with the veteran questioning Romney. Everyone should see that one.

Mini stimulus? This money goes right into economy.

This is Key to Florida victory!

Eva is fast becoming my favorite actress!
Well said and on point. Romney is a man without character or empathy.
That Just Sayin’ pic made me laugh so hard. Oh my!! Oh my!! PBO is packin while LYIN MItt looks like . . . well . . . he’s missing something.
