#5 and #11 are the ones that got me. It’s hard to believe that the GOP ever supported unions or equal pay for women and in the 1950s, too! Many modern conservatives reminisce about the ’50s constantly (including those weren’t born yet). However, it was always clear that the 1950s they yearned for never existed. This old party platform confirms this even further.

This old party platform confirms this even further.

Carolyn, the election of 1968 was the first time I was old enough to vote. I had supported, in San Antonio Texas no less, RFKJr. When he was assassinated, it was obvious to all of us that Nixon had to be defeated. We had no idea the depth of criminality he was already involved regarding Vietnam but we knew he was evil to the core and the war would not end if he was elected. Tragically, he was and 27000+ US troops, countless Vietnamese, Cambodians, Thais, and others died needless deaths.
As unfathomably horrible all of that was, the fact that Nixon was not held accountable for his real crimes only enabled the emergence of all the evil the Reagan Administration spawned and those spawn were at the core of the vast damage to America and the world that the administration of George W Bush accomplished.
This legacy of lawlessness, avarice and mass murder that defines the Nixon-Reagan-GWB axis must be held accountable. Until it is, America is barely a shadow of what it could be for all humanity and for future generations of Americans.
