TY, Hf! You have no idea how happy I am to see you up and about! π
Are you getting ready to head on over early to GrandmaDD? Don’t forget she’ll probably be going to church first. I’m not feeling church-y so I suspect I’ll time my arrival to about the time I estimate you will all be sitting down to the meal itself. Maybe you’ll save me a seat beside you?
Yes, I’ll be going there just in time for the dinner. I’m also bringing a Ziploc and some aluminum foil for leftovers for the entire week. π π I’ve already reserved a seat for you at the DD Easter-fest.
Not so sure I’m keen on the Ziploc idea. I mean, if you are planning to stock up that might deplete my own eat-as-you-go portions. Have to think on that one some more, Hf.
/thinking – I suppose I’ll have to just make sure the dishes pass by me before they pass by Hf/ π
Morning Chips, VC , and all. It’s a beautiful Easter morning. The sun is shining, the trees are blossoming and the daffodils and hyacinths are in their glory. This day always brings back good childhood memories of Easter bonnets with ribbons, jelly beans and Easter eggs. My favorite was the year my mom bought me patent leather Mary Jane shoes and I got to wear them with pink socks! With my new straw hat, I felt as proud as a peacock. Enjoy your day!
Danny might need counseling. I read about some disturbed dude who was arrested this week for stalking girls based on his attraction to their socks. Hopefully this is just a phase for Dan, like the flower pots.
A thought just occurred to me, CC β’β’βΊHave you considered getting DannyO his own set of socks? Probably would be cheaper than those indestructible toys you were so fond of.
Oh Chips, those socks were so special to me, I would have negotiated any trade with Danny just to keep them. Unfortunately, all the rest of my socks in those days were plain white.
Thanks for asking, VC. The bones, though aching, are all working. Too bad the car will need to be replaced. Hard not to be angry about the fact that a careless kid gets distracted and we end up having all the hassle, not to mention costs.
Some kid rammed us when we were stalled in block long traffic. He hit so hard, the whole back end crumbled, my hearing aid flew out, my glass flew off and my husband’s baseball hat landed in the back seat. But we both emerged whole and uninjured. Looks like the car is shot, so we’ll have to find something new. I was feeling shaky all day yesterday, but my consolation was thinking about what the kid had to face when he told his grandparents he had badly dented their car and that our claim damage was against their insurance.
Oh my gawd Jackie, what a nightmare, you must have got such a horrible fright. Thank goodness you’re both okay, that sounds almost miraculous. But I can only imagine how shaken up you are. Awful.
Very good news to hear that your bones are all intact. π That’s the priority! I will assume that’s the same for Mr. JackieG and give thanks.
When an old favourite (as in only one I had and all paid for) was totaled many years ago, I was not happy. Because it was ‘mature’, I got precious little for it from the insurance people – certainly not its value to me! Even though I wanted them to just fix it, they wouldn’t. That’s actually how I ended up with my first brand new, 1st-owner-me mini-van/car. Of course, I was forced into monthly payments for years, but I consoled myself with the fact that had I been on the opposite side of my car, or at the front, when it was hit I would not be here today.
We have a whole series of frightening Easter photos—–of my sister and I in matching chairs in matching new homemade dresses with matching new Toni home perms with matching Easter baskets in our laps—-often with matching bonnets, almost always with new white gloves—–what was up with the white gloves? I guess our parents were proud and thought we were so adorable—-but is hard to imagine– we now fall down laughing at these very funny stiff photos.
Now in casual clothes casually welcoming spring and doing bunny stuff for the grandkids at a fam din.
Dotster, white gloves were absolutely vital in those days and all had to have them for Easter. My sister worked in an office in NYC in the 50’s and always went off with white gloves and a hat. Parents did what they could to dress up kids when Easter came, no matter how scarce money was. My mother was a widow raising three girls and I remember the one Easter when she just couldn’t make ends meet to get us anything new. We had to wake up early and go to the early mass with our old coats and scarves so that people at the regular services wouldn’t see that we were too poor for hats. It was all about show. Your Toni permanent reference brought back so many memories of ugly frizzed hair. Yuck!
Morning, PF58! I see you’re starting with our anthem this morning – excellent way to set the tone; except for the 4 more years chant at the end it’s still amazingly relevant!
I’m not sure where to start. The club has always given me the pukes, and their supporters are generally nauseating. They have this schmaltzy, saccharine-y, self-pitying thing about themselves, they reckon there’s no club on earth like Liverpool, when, in fact, there are 100s.
And don’t start me on the Hillsborough disaster. Drunken Liverpool fans arrive late for the game, and it’s all the police’s fault.
Meanwhile, the 39 Juventus fans killed by Liverpool fans have been forgotten, the media just won’t go there when Liverpool constantly paint themselves as victims.
As United fans sing, ‘always the victims, never your fault’.
Hi TOD family. De-lurking to again express profound thanks for this place.
This past week I lost an aunt to cancer, (this was expected), and then a 4yr. old grand nephew will be disconnected from his life support today.
Maxx was critically injured when a man had a heart attack and caused a ten car pileup in Memphis on the 16th. The man and Maxx are the only fatalities. His mother was driving; she had given birth again just 3 wks. ago to a child who was due on the 13th. The baby was not in the car.
oh, and my birthday was Friday.
I lurk regularly, taking my time, with the links and the commentaries. This is the best place for true students of life. I value the insights of the posters and comments, this country is a better place for me because of TOD>
Oh Paulita, what heartbreaking news, I am so sorry for the pain your family are experiencing. May your Aunt and little Maxx rest in peace. Take care of yourself Paulita.
Thank you Ms. Chipsticks,
We have a lot of faith; these things make us stronger and more respectful of each day. I want you to know that I include your mom in my prayers. I had to take care of my mom after a nasty fall, and I understand the physical and psychological strength required to rehab someone close to you.
Paulita, so sorry to hear of your loss of your aunt and little nephew Maxx. May you and your family find some measure of comfort and healing in the days and months to come.
Oh Paulita, so very sorry about your aunt and 4-year old nephew. What heartbreak for your family. Many many hugs to you and a belated Happy Birthday. Sometimes life hands you so many lemons at one time, you just don’t know how to cope. Bless you.
When things get really crazy beyond my control, realizing that as Paul wrote “we are more than conquerors …”, and knowing that the devil always seems to overplay his hand, I await victory and the opportunity to laugh in his face.
If I have gone too deep today, it is because I am inspired by His resurrection.
Dear Paulita, sincerest condolences to you and your family on these heartbreaking losses. The pain must be unimaginable right now. Hold tight onto each other through this difficult time. I hope you all can eventually find comfort in loving, warm memories from those whose lives they both touched.
Marchβs NCAA playoffs are behind us, but the madness continues.
From Wisconsin, cradle of the Progressive movement, comes news that the state Republican Party β the party of La Follette! β has advanced a pro-secession agenda.

The extreme views of the Radical Right has become mainstream in the GOP…in fact…The GOP have fully embraced those views…things that were whispered in the smoky back rooms are front and center!
PF, I hope the people of Wisconsin rediscover their progressive roots and rise up and soundly reject all of this radicalism. Wisconsin has to save itself. That people there would even consider re-electing Walker is just too depressing.
I do not know what went wrong with the recall drive to oust Walker…that was the their best chance to return sanity to WI…and to move their state forward…just think about all the laws that might have been thwarted if Walker were not the governor
I hope POTUS, FLOTUS and the family enjoy Easter service. Some good singing, a good meesage from the Pastor.Maybe a prayer for the family, and others. There are times when I imagine myself in their shoes and I can’t help but have some sympathy for them living in that fishbowl.
very glad to see the photos of the First Family this morning;

Since I lived in D.C. for a wonderful time of my life, whenever the Obamas go somewhere, I always google the location to see where it is. Today, I was especially interested, because the church is on N.W. 16th St., and the church my father pastored was on N.W. 16th St. and Webster, just a little south of the 19th St .Baptist Church. If I’m not mistaken, I think that building was a Jewish synagogue back in the late 50s and 60s when I lived there. I rode by it on the bus every day on the way to work at the Capitol. It is a beautiful building, in a gorgeous location.
This particular church is a very historical one, now celebrating 175 years in D.C.
The Obamas each look like spring! Wonder if the girls are with them.
Hi carolyn! It’s always so lovely to get background on the places The First Family visits. It’s especially nice if the person sharing it has a personal connection. Thank you!
I know I release my tension concerning those Tea Party Republicans alot when I come up here, but let me not forget that today is about more then easter eggs, rabbits, candy, and whatever else man has made this day about. To alot of people it is about the resurrection of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Happy Easter Everyone and may the good Lord above bless you all.
/whisper/ Tried to see which one of them was carrying the packet, but it was hard to tell. / Will stay on guard, reporting briefly when I can. Don’t want them to see me and get more cautious./
Indeed Chips! She’s growing into a beautiful young lady – that used to be Malia’s dress by the way. π Oh well they probably use each other’s clothes at this point…
I do recall seeing a pic with Malia in it – I just don’t remember exactly when, but I’m sure Nerdy Wonka with her photographic memory can easily address that…

It’s looking like I can cavort in the village to my heart’s content, AND π¦ all by myself too!
Maybe Bo will go for a walk with me?
Morning, Bo! Danny’s busy – want to go for a walk?
No, you weren’t 2nd choice. At least, not exactly.
-We could all three go, couldn’t we?
.What about Chips and PBO?
-Well, what about them? Surely they can walk on their own?
Moooooooooooooooorning VC!!!!
/huge relief/ O, there you are, CC! {{{Chips}}} I’m sooooooooooo glad to see you!
Good Morning VC, Chips and the TOD family. Happy Easter!!π°π°ππππ·π·. Congrats on first VC.
Thank you, Betsy, and a ‘Happy, and bright, Easter Sunday’ to you!
Thank youπ.
G’morning Chips & TOD and congrats vc on #1!
{{{Hopef}}} You are here! You are here! It. is. so. nice. to see you, Hf. How are you this fine and sunny Sunday morn?
Hiya vc! I’m doing splendidly fine this lovely Easter Sunday π Glad to see you here and looking forward to a nice day with TOD π
TY, Hf! You have no idea how happy I am to see you up and about! π

I am confident that DD will have more than enough for us to have our fill of leftovers, Ziploc, Tupperware and all! π
Aw-righty then! Off to check my wardrobe!
Happy Easter, VC! Congrats on 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 AND 11!!! great day! Sun is breaking through here, green tea is in order!
1,2,3…..11…Good Lord! Never realized I was absorbing so much space, all caught up as I was in the trauma/drama of being all by myself!
I’ll try to be a bit more circumspect in the future; ‘onest.
VC, circumspect is just not necessary ~ you are perfect in every way! β€
Would you share the perfection part with my offsprings, please? I think they have forgotten. π π
Well, ‘practically’ perfect in every way!
π π {{{MP}}}
Goooooood morning Hopefruit!
Our President must be getting ready to go to church with FLOTUS and the girls.
I’m hoping we catch a glimpse, of course!

Danny might need counseling. I read about some disturbed dude who was arrested this week for stalking girls based on his attraction to their socks. Hopefully this is just a phase for Dan, like the flower pots.
π I fear the phase will NEVER end, Dotster!
Happy Easter Sunday, JackiG! How go the mature bones this morning? No after effects from your recent jolt, I hope?
Thanks for asking, VC. The bones, though aching, are all working. Too bad the car will need to be replaced. Hard not to be angry about the fact that a careless kid gets distracted and we end up having all the hassle, not to mention costs.

Oh, NO, Jackie. I’m so glad your and your husband are safe but what a terrible jolt and hassle to make things right. Take good care of yourself!
Oh, Jackie!!!! How horrific! Mentally and physically, this was a horrible experience. Sending healing and positive energy your way, my friend.
I’m afraid I’m less than Christ-like in that I hope this kid learns his lesson but good.
Very good news to hear that your bones are all intact. π That’s the priority! I will assume that’s the same for Mr. JackieG and give thanks.

Thanks, VC. You’re such a caring person. Yes, Mr G is hale and hearty, though shaken and angry like I am.

I’m so old, I remember that you didn’t go downtown in Milwaukee in anything but a dress and gloves (white in the summer).
At (almost) 64 years old, I saw such changes in society: by the time I was in college, everyone went downtown in jeans.
How cool were you with your patent Mary Janes and your pink socks? Wowie!!
I remember one year getting a white angora fuzzy knitted cloche hat and patent shoes. Yikes.
Meta, we all should have had our pictures taken in those days like Dotster did.
Don’t forget the adorable gloves, jg, I so loved all my pairs of gloves!
I never greeted these guys yesterday (TY for the reminder, CC) and they’ll likely be too busy tomorrow, so ‘Happy Easter, Bo!’ ‘Happy Easter, Sunny!’
Good Sunday Chipsticks…TODers!!!

why sudden love for chelsea?
what did lp do to you ever?

I hope POTUS, FLOTUS and the family enjoy Easter service. Some good singing, a good meesage from the Pastor.Maybe a prayer for the family, and others. There are times when I imagine myself in their shoes and I can’t help but have some sympathy for them living in that fishbowl.
Honestly, Annieb, he fishbowl alone would drive me personally crazy – more than what they say, their constant presence would be a constant irritant!
Interesting that POTUS always wears a new style of suit every Easter. Sometimes it’s pin stripe, sometimes light grey. Always GQ in every way.
Happy Easter to Everyone!
very glad to see the photos of the First Family this morning;
PBO is looking very different but as always very sharp;
I think PBO wore this color of suit during the wedding of Ms. Valerie Jarrett’s daughter – you know the photo where he is looking at FLOTUS so nostalgically
Yes, it’s the same suit and tie he wore that day, sitting next to FLOTUS. OMG, HANDSOME.
I love that photo!
the way PBO looks so tenderly at FLOTUS (who is so engrossed in the weeding procession – probably the vows) you can almost read his thought of their own wedding;
both have very wistful expressions in that photo
Here ya go!
thanks a bunch!
One of my “republican” clients gave me the photo framed. It is beautiful…I haven’t decided where to hang it (in my office) yet. Everyone loves it!!!!
Sorry to hear about Mr. Carter, my best goes out to his family and may he rest in peace.
RIP Mr. Carter!
twenty years in prison for a crime you did not commit !
Swoooon!
I know, but it’s too early for this Dudette, I needed to be gently eased in to the day π
Oddly, I feel completely “at ease” after seeing this picture this morning. π
Well, I have a temperature now π
And on a holy Sunday. Chips, you and Dudette are sentenced to confession forever!
I know Hopefruit – and I’ll be in there for, like, FOREVER. π
I confess: “I LOVE MY PRESIDENT!”
Chips, have I told you lately that I love you?
π Ha, the feeling is mutual west-coaster – mooooooooorning GGail!!!
Good West Coast morning!
POTUS has a binder under his arm…might he be saying a few words at the Church?
Looks like iPrez to me…
I keep hearing this jingle in my head. π

Wow! Air National Guard! Way to go! π
AWESOME.

remembered Ms. Malia in the same dress headed to church
