      Thanks, Chips.

      Millions of lives changed because President Obama decided it was the right thing to do even when others were telling him to leave it for another day because it would ruin his political capital.

      It makes me so happy.

    I want EVERYONE to read the Sam Stein tweet that references GOP Kevin McCarthy’s tear-down of ACA.

    Can SOMEONE tell me why Dem’s can’t be that thorough and that simplistic in selling policy? The GOP is full of GENIUSES at framing their lies. Why can’t we be equally effective selling TRUTH?

    NOT blaming PBO. Blaming a Democratic Party that thinks calling them ‘loons’ is a winning message, while GOP corrals the airwaves and knows how to structure soundbite after soundbite.

    Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is not as bad as previous DNC chairs but nowhere near as effective as we should be at robustly selling our message.

    Hire George Lakoff, for God’s sake and save our country! We can’t do it alone, tweet by tweet, like TOD tries to do - we need a party infrastructure that ‘gets it’ and is doing part of the heavy lift.

      THIS x 100,000!!!!!! ….or more! I was thinking this exact thing earlier today……thinking about how they have had Frank Luntz for years and how very effective the two, three or four word soundbites he gives them are……every time…….regardless of the subject. We have no one to do that. Makes me so angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    first world problems : trying to complete a project proposal on Easter Sunday before deadline ;

    ;

    immigrant’s paradox :

    - having to convince your sick and elderly parents (overseas) that you have the Easter Sunday meal all figured out ;

    - while at the first opportunity quietly whispering to your many siblings (already overfed by said parents) that you really have no concrete food plan and are focused on beating the proposal deadline;

    - knowing all along that said siblings will not tell the parents the truth because they don’t want them to start worrying;

    okay, back to work - will go to confession later

    ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE
    They’re written by Andy Rooney, a man who had the gift of saying so much with so few words.Enjoy……..

    I’ve learned…. That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

    I’ve learned…. That when you’re in love, it shows.

    I’ve learned…. That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ makes my day.

    I’ve learned…. That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

    I’ve learned…. That being kind is more important than being right.

    I’ve learned…. That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

    I’ve learned…. That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.

    I’ve learned…. That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

    I’ve learned…. That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

    I’ve learned…. That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

    I’ve learned…. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

    I’ve learned…. That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.

    I’ve learned…. That money doesn’t buy class.

    I’ve learned…. That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

    I’ve learned… That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

    I’ve learned…. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

    I’ve learned…. That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

    I’ve learned…. That love, not time, heals all wounds.

    I’ve learned…. That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

    I’ve learned…. That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

    I’ve learned…. That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

    I’ve learned… That life is tough, but I’m tougher.

    I’ve learned…. That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

    I’ve learned…. That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

    I’ve learned…. That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.

    I’ve learned…. That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

    I’ve learned…. That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

    I’ve learned…. That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life.

    I’ve learned…. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.

    I’ve learned…. That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

    Delurking for one comment about how much ” manhood” David Brooks has……very Macho David……

    David Brooks: A Republican senator put ‘his hand on my inner thigh’ for a ‘whole’ dinner party.

    BROOKS: You know, all three of us spend a lot of time covering politicians and I don’t know about you guys, but in my view, they’re all emotional freaks of one sort or another. They’re guaranteed to invade your personal space, touch you. I sat next to a Republican senator once at dinner and he had his hand on my inner thigh the whole time. I was like, ehh, get me out of here.

    So I walked in this evening just in time to catch some of ABC’s World News - and they were having a report on Easter celebrations in the US and in various parts of the world (e.g., Pope/Italy;, Greece). I was (not really) surprised to see that they never once mentioned or showed our First Family, although they devoted an entire segment to the Royal Family spending their Easter in Australia, with excessive fawning over the baby “Prince George” who was just doing what babies do.

    It appears that the media cannot report on the President/First Family unless they can find something negative or snarky or controversial to add to the report - and it would seem out of place if they added snark and negativity to the Obamas while fawning and oohing and aahing over the other subjects. In addition, I guess to show PBO’s confident & very MASCULINE GQ image in that brown suit would be just too much after they spent the entire day attacking his manhood….

    “The pushback against voting restrictions doesn’t stop there. Ohio and Illinois both may ask voters to consider changing their state constitutions to establish an affirmative right to vote. The Democratic National Committee has established a new project to register voters and advocate for expansive voting laws. And progressive movements from North Carolina to Mississippi to Texas are running their own registration and education efforts.”
