Too many people in this country think of Obama as their daddy. They like to abuse him and they expect him to do the impossible. For these dreamers confronting republicans wouldn’t get them air time.
I wonder whether those are really dreamers, or just Republican plants monitoring where the President is going to be rcampaigning for them to heckle him. I don’t see them heckling other Dems who are campaigning - it’s only PBO, which leads me to believe that there is some GOP $$$ behind this….

Republicans probably hand-pick who is allowed to come to their campaign events so that they won’t have to deal with hecklers. And if a heckler does make it in, they are not dealt with as respectfully as the President deals with them.
I too question whether these are real dreamers or just GOP plants. I believe that true dreamers know what PBO has already done to further their cause and what he is trying to do.

CNN, says Obama approval ratings is a drag on the Democrats midterm. Then why isn’t the Republicans approval ratings a drag on the Republicans? POTUS told that heckler they need to go heckle the Republicans. I can not stand hecklers of any kind cause it is rude and disrespectful. I don’t care what they are heckling about.
Maye these hecklers are paid by the GOP to remind Latino voters to be mad at Obama and the Democrats over immigration.

I am thinking these hecklers actually create an opportunity for PBO to address the fact that there is no progress on immigration because of Republicans. I remember being so impressed that in 2008 Senator Obama was entirely respectful of a group heckling whereas Prez Clinton lost it while being heckled at a rally.

Neither could I, Hon. Just ticked they interrupted PBO so often and they haven’t a smidgen of a case against him. Some people will do anything for attention of any sort. They CANNOT possibly believe that their little yelling sprees gain them anything vis-a-vis actually passing immigration reform!
Heckling is used in PBO’s rallies as a method of tripping up PBO, or trying to make him lose his train of thought, to disrupt the synergy and chemistry, flow, or momentum between him and the very receptive crowd. It’s a GOP strategy. We hardly heard of heckling prior to PBO’s presidency. And I also notice that other Dem pols are RARELY heckled during their rallies.
This suggests to me that there are GOP sources behind all of this. Someone or some group who are very threatened when PBO is on the campaign trail. They don’t want his speeches to be heard in their entirety, and they try to interrupt by using some “issue” pretending to be people they aren’t.
Well, if their intent is to derail PBO’s message, they fail. They may be accustomed to pols who only recite prepared catch phrases with no real understanding of the issues, that’s not our president!

I didn’t get to watch the rally, but I’ve noticed that all the hecklers are heckling the same subject. I think Trumpdog and hopefruit are correct: these are paid GOP operatives. This may be generalizing, but the Latinos I know are far too polite and grateful for what’s been done to participate in rude behavior like this. The GOP pays for everything else, I’m SURE they are paying to try to make the president look bad…..they only make themselves look bad, but GOP are too stupid to realize that. These interruptions has Karl Rover written all over them.
And they seemed to be out in force in CT today — PBO’s speech must have been interrupted a half-dozen times today. :(

I know nothing about CT politics, but after seeing Gov Malloy’s speech was surprised to see that the CT Governor’s race is considered a “toss up.”
Always thought of CT as deep blue.

Deep blue for the Presidency but like NY and NJ, CT can swing either way where the Governorship is concerned.
Having said that, I would advocate due caution with these models. I think “toss-up” comes from models which rely on the same shitty polling we’ve been cautioning against. These are “likely voter” screen models. Just as an example: In mid-October 2012, Quinnipiac released a poll showing CT Senate Candidate Chris Murphy (D) trailing his R opponent Linda McMahon by 1 pt. On November 6, 2012, Chris Murphy won the Senate by a little under 12 pts.
I’m guessing Wall St. money and NRA, which was furious with Malloy for passing common sense gun safety legislation after Sandy Hook tragedy. Foley is a big money boy, backed by big money boys and the gun nuts.

I’ve heard of people in the LGBT community refer to themselves as queers many times before. As a matter of fact it is sometimes referred to as LGBTQ so that doesn’t really prove anything. It has certainly crossed my mind that some of them may be GOP plants but not all of them. There have been multiple tv interviews where these dreamers have expressed disappointment that we don’t have immigration reform and they blame it on PBO. Even politicians such as Luis Guiterrez has expressed this. It’s just so frustrating that they (1) aren’t at Republicans rallies and (2) directly heckle PBO and Michelle Obama!! I also agree that the R’s probably hand pick their rally participants so its less likely that they will make their way in there.
Queer or not, it is highly unusual that LGBT activists and Immigration Reform advocates would be holding the same signs at a rally - as Chips demonstrated. Two very different agendas. Two very different groups of people. I smell a big GOP Kock-roach SKUNK…

It really is hard to understand why Democrats are so reluctant to embrace the accomplishments of this administration. What is it someone said? Democrats gave us healthcare, not herpes so why not be enthusiastic about it? The only reason anyone thinks negatively about legislation such as healthcare is because Democrats don’t say otherwise; they don’t tout the benefits and correct the misconceptions.
When the GOP/MSM are constantly putting a negative spin on anything they can associate with President Obama and you get crickets from the Democrats, or criticism to supplement the negativity, or false information that misleads about the extent of executive power, then it’s no wonder that the average person is not giving proper credit for the benefits they are receiving. When Democrats refuse to point fingers as to who’s to blame for legislation not being passed that would help middle and low income families, then you get people accepting what is being said by the GOP/MSM and blaming the President.
Swbluega I would like to draw a distinction among Dems and not paint them all with a broad brush. Most Democratic voters are more than willing to embrace this President’s accomplishments. And it was the Dem base of voters which gave him a second term - when the MSM and their polls were trying to convince us that PBO’s record was negligible and Romney would be a more competent governor.
There are a few Democrats who are reticent but they do not represent the majority of Dems - and the media chooses to focus on those Dems as though they are the base = which they aren’t.

I don’t know that I was referring to the voters as much as I was referring to those that have been elected (or are campaigning to get elected). They are in a better position than most to defend, correct, brag, and promote. While the media will not go out of their way to spotlight these Democrats who might do or say anything pro-Obama, they are still in a better position to *publicly* and *regularly* embrace the President’s accomplishments. They are still the ones better positioned to *immediately* refute the misinformation given by the media and the outright lies from the GOP.
Agree. I will never understand Dem reluctance to support this president and all his praiseworthy accomplishments and refusal to push back on the dishonest accusations. The GOP/MSM ran with that weakness and began framing PBO as unpopular with a failed presidency, someone a Dem candidate needed to run away from. It’s all crazy nonsense. I just get sad at what has looked to me like the end of democracy, this constant, coordinated GOP/media campaign to portray PBO in such a dishonest manner. There has been no fairness or objectivity in the reporting of his presidency. Every time his name is mentioned on tv or in print, it is always accompanied by adding that this is a very unpopular president with sinking approval ratings. Multiple times every day on every news outlet. That constant refrain eventually affects reality. It is unfortunate that the “news” has moved away from objectively reporting facts, to subjectively promoting opinions as if they are facts…network “news” programs.
I agree it is sickening doster3 and I think this country is dangerously close to becoming a fascist state run by and for the corporations with the MSM spewing propaganda to keep the populace ignorant and complacent. However we must realize that we are being fed propaganda. Kristen Welker and the rest of the MSM are paid propagandists, so don’t take her “reporting” as reflecting anything more than what her corporate bosses are telling her to say. As I have pointed out repeatedly, PBO is not treated like an unpopular President by the public (an unpopular Prez would not be able to attract the crowds PBO gets on a constant basis). I think many of us realize the media is corrupt and shilling for the GOP, and then go on to point to some propaganda the media is spewing as though it is reflective of reality. That really does not make rational sense. The whole issue of “Democrats running from PBO” has bee greatly overstated and taken out of context. Deep red states, most of which are racially backwards, seem to the spots where PBO actually is unpopular. The reelection of PBO should have demonstrated to us that the constant drum beat about PBO’s unpopularity does not reflect reality. If he were truly as unpopular as the MSM/GOP wants us to believe they would not have to constantly repeat it over and over and over again. The MSM/GOP is really doing its best to brainwash the American people. Mitch McConnell has to pay people to attend his rallies, PBO does not pay people and still gets overflow crowds. Who really is unpopular?

Huge, I mean HUGE, things may be happening in my life as a result of a recent trip to visit my brother in Key West and a subsequent conversation with our father.

Close. As you know, I live here in the Phoenix area and my brother is in Key West. My dad is in Ohio. I have been planning to leave my job here after I get the paid sabbatical that will be due me upon my 14th anniversary of working for Intel. I have been working feverishly to write a food truck business plan to be implemented with some partners in Charleston, S.C.
After my trip to Key West last week, my Dad mentioned in a text message that if I were to go into business with my brother in Key West instead, he would consider selling his home in Ohio and moving there with us to reunite us all. He’d have to find a pretty specialized doctor, but Miami is close by and large enough that I bet he can. I am on the verge of weeping with joy at the prospect of my children getting to know their grandpa and their uncle and cousin and growing up someplace much more liberal where I think it would also be much more fun to grow up.
It’s all very preliminary, but I called dad today to beg him to take this very seriously. He spent an hour talking to me in detail. He’s not kidding around and he has some pretty damn deep pockets that he is willing to dig into to make this happen if we can first do some research and determine that the math supports the fantasy.
Here’s to hoping everything falls the right way. My missus may be in line for an amazing job opportunity as well. Hopefully we’ll all hit the jackpot.

Carolyn, and all of my TOD beautiful family, you all are on to the actual truths to this constant rude behavior that is being pouring out at POB’s rallies. Carolyn, you are so wise in your last observation. These people are so full of, do as much damage as possible during this election. However, POB continues to move on. He knows where the root lies and that is why he tells each one of the hecklers to go to that root, the Republicans. POB is tired of this crap, but he remains steady, full of hope and energy, and most of all very Presidential in not allowing these rude paid fools to ruin the message. Because he knows the facts, he can give them that beautiful smile and gracefully move on. Remember, PBO walks out with his brilliant mind and his compass in tack. Trust me.
I was working the phones and the blocks in a particular city for several individuals in tight races, and a very dear relative of mine called me during the morning hours to wish me a happy birthday. He knew of my schedule, and he reminded me to walk with my purpose and remember that there would be so many people who are working against everything that I would be doing that afternoon. It was true. However, I knew their game, so I played fast ball with them and used my inner core of my precious grandparents to continue to do what I had to do. I had a wonderful day and wonderful people responding. Our group made a lot of progress that day.
My neighbors sent me a text saying that they wanted to come over later and bring something over. I am not a birthday gift receiver. I have been very blessed and I do not need anything else to put in my closet or my home; but I said yes. Come to find out that they had not planned to vote because they thought that this election did not matter, and let us just get on with the “rich election for 2016.” Their words. They are lovely R’s, but I do not dismiss their loveliness and grant their stupidity to move in, especially while in my space. So, of course, we had a great conversation that led to the fact that they had spent all day on the computer getting very frustrated trying to get a supplemental insurance policy. So I approached the conversation with love, and common sense.(He just retired a few months ago, and she has an illness that could wipe them out. I got my computer and showed them some facts. They were just so out of the game of how the system works for a President with the Congress.
I just ran down the list and asked, do you have this? How do you know that you have it? Have you had it before such and such time? They could not say; so I ran the year and gave them the Congress who helped the President make that possible for them. They almost fell off of the sofa.
We ended up with them admitting with much shame(their word) that they did not believe that PBO could think like that to get that much done just coming into the presidency. Really. I do not hate people, but I do hate the dangerous tools of thinking that they pick up to try to destroy the goodness in their lives. Especially when the good deeds and knowledge of a person like PBO who knows the needs of the middle-class and will try every possible way within the law to help them better themselves. And believe me this family has really benefited from PBO’s policies.
I turned seventy that very day they were sitting in my home, and they had no idea of what PBO and his Administration had done to make their lives be a little better when they turn seventy. None. They are in their early sixties with a 22 year old son.
So I say this, the loudest hecklers in the room are most likely the most uninformed of what PBO’s Presidency has really done for him/her when they really just do not want to give the fine mellow black man in the Oval Office the credit. It is in their core not to do so. However, we have an opportunity to make these next two and a half years wonderful for so many more people than one or two hecklers. President Obama will always walk out of the room with his dignity and grace and for sure The President of The United States of America, every darn time. And we will love him for knowing how to handle these foolish and evil people.
So, TOD family: keep talking, ask and remind people you see in the store, to get to the polls if they haven’t already and take the entire family. I was out getting my hair cut yesterday and ran into several people who just moved me to stop and say, “Do Not Forget To Vote! They really did listen to me because I asked them if they knew one person who was running and for what office? Then I asked them how that office would affect them and their family. Then they wanted to talk. And always have a few really important facts that really matters that will get to their guts and their brains. Case will be closed on Nov. 4, 2014. Those are my departing words as I end the conversation. So far, I am still seventy and feel pretty good today. One brief task tomorrow, and off to dentist after voting on Tues.

My love is just being here in the company of the best, and brightest during this great time in our history and lives. So keep me working behind the scenes, and I am just fine. Trust me.
The love and hard work that each of us do daily will be the most important to the world when all is said and done. People in the President’s circle appreciates and PBO knows we are here and have his back. Trust me. And keeping his back is one of the most important gifts that we can give him daily as we lift him up with our loving thoughts, actions, and support.

Carolyn, I think asked about my brother. My brother has a very high profile career that calls him to work very hard for all of us, and he is doing great. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers because of this very reason. He is well aware of this great space and he so appreciates what we are doing. Thanks for asking, Carolyn.
Also much love and success to GoB as you have your visit tomorrow with you medical team. Lots of loving hugs to all who are working on this election though your body is constantly in pain; I do understand, because I have the “pain visitor” daily knocking on my door. So I totally admire all of you, and I know POB appreciates you as well. We will have victories on Tuesday evening that will thrill and move us closer to helping POB and his Administration go Forward as he moves to conclude his term. We are so blessed to have such a brilliant, compassionate, caring, honest, and decent man as our POTUS. So keep positive and use your time tomorrow, if you can to make good things continue to happen for all of us. We can do this as long as the people show up at the polls and cast their votes for the capable and able people who are willing to move forward with our great president.

GWB was *truly* unpopular around this time in his presidency, but I don’t recall the media making a point of talking about it *every* “news”cast. They must be getting some type of bonus for every time they say it.

This has really perplexed me too. Other than some recent Braley newspaper endorsements, Joni Ernst’s extreme positions have been ignored by most of the media, as they promoted her fakey folksy charm. Did the media really like the crazy lady somehow, or were they salivating at the fun of covering a real rt. wing nut job in the senate? With Bachmann gone, maybe she was their best hope of reporting on impeachment and abolishing the EPA and the Dept. of Ed. and personhood and conspiracy theories, such as the U.N.’s big secret plans to seize farm land in Iowa.
I don’t know how these “journalists” can look at themselves in the mirror each night after talking shit all day. Where has their integrity gone? Where are we going as a country to allow this to happen. We have to stop it, force them to do their jobs properly. Sigh.
It’s really not that hard to understand if one is willing to accept the reality that the MSM is the communications arm of the GOP. Ernst is running as a Republican, so the MSM refuses to go after her. The MSM did the same thing for Romney (no big deal that he refused to make his tax returns public, allowed his constant lies to go unchallenged). This race reminds me of the Harry Reid/Sharon Angle Senate race, where the media and polls made her seem like a stronger candidate than she was in reality.
The mainstream media outlets are OWNED by the GOP. That’s not an exaggeration. It helps their interests when Republicans are in control.
So, now that that’s done, you don’t nor won’t see any damaging or negative coverage of Republicans, which would simply be a given if the MSM reported their doings evenly.
It’s like ’08 & ’12 all over again!!! Enthusiasm gap my ……..

Great job Chips and Hopefruit for exposing the GOP plant “protesters” at the PBO rally. The “queer rights” guy and the dreamer poser had their signs made at the same GOP workshop. The level of propaganda is becoming mind numbing. People please believe your eyes and not the bullshit paid propagandist are spewing about PBO’s popularity. Time and time again commenters say they heard this or that propagandist say some negative shit about PBO (which usually does not reflect objective reality) and then go on to say how sad or depressed it made them feel. That is exactly how the propaganda was designed to make you feel. Those huge enthusiastic crowds that come to PBO’s rallies do not see the President as “toxic” or unpopular. Just because the MSM wants to pretend they do not exist does not mean you have to play along. We must wean ourselves off our reflexive trust of the media. The days of Walter Cronkite are long gone. Today’s media is tasked by the 6 corporations that own them to get Republicans elected. They are propagandists paid to influence reality not report/reflect reality.
