Saw your comments about your disappointment with the refs when I peeked in before work today! So sorry Chips! I hate it when refs call a game improperly and give the game to the wrong team! It’s one thing when your team loses, but to lose because of bad calls is extra frustrating!
I was there to verify! The Liacouras Center was set in there 3/4 concert set-up and the joint was jumpin’!! Close to 8,000 seats PLUS folks standing on the floor area near the podium.
Simply AWEsomeeeeeeee… WeThePeople have a love affair with President….No Matter how the pundits like to slice and dice the truth….THE TRUTH is that WE LOVE <3 the President…

Good evening, TOD! Philly is fired up! So wish I were well enough to be there. One of our SUPERVOLS, 92 yr old Ms. Toni, is backstage meeting the Pres!
Hi Alycee, I decided not to watch out of jealousy for our fellow Pennsies who got tickets. I just procrastinated too much. Damn, damn, damn…:-D :-D However I will sneak a peak. Fantastic crowd !!
Every time I read a comment anyplace on the net and it is someone saying that the Republicans cheat and suppress the vote or flip votes on the machines somehow I always remember this…Nov. 2, 2004 on the South Lawn of the WH.
FTR, I’ve been kicked out (getting a blue screen) four times since around the middle of PBO’s previous speech. I’m not sure if having two CBS live stream windows open has anything to do with anything. Could it? Then again I was just blue-screened before the opening of *this* post and I didn’t have CBS open then, so forget that.
So excited! I’m in my car listening to the Cafe Mocha and My President is the guest! He’s telling listeners how important it is to vote this Tuesday. Every vote matters. So many close races. Last election decided by less than avg of 100 per precinct in states like Florida. Encouraging people to go to iwillvote.com for info.
They just broke for commercial. Host says when they come back she’s going to ask about ebola. Oh well. Guess she has to.
Just got home from working and haven’t had a chance to fully catch up. But I just wanted to share an observation:
I have become a fan of watching American football over the past couple of years. It helps me zone out and spend some time “not thinking”.
One thing I have noticed since watching these games is how much sports announcers sound like political pundits! Before the game those doing the commentary have usually chosen a narrative: who is going to win, who is not going to do well, etc. Some announcers are obvious with their loyalty to a particular team. If their chosen narrative falls apart, they will stick to it, no matter how much their chosen “winner” is stinking up the joint. Then, when it’s so obvious their narrative isn’t holding up, they switch their praise to the other team, as if that was their opinion all along! Also, if a game is lopsided, or the outcome is obvious, they don’t want people to change the channel, so they will say things like, “The momentum has changed!” even if it hasn’t. I was watching a college game last night. One team was ahead all night. When the losing team scored, they were still behind, but the announcers all acted like they were somehow winning! When the team that was actually ahead scored again, one of the announcers said, “They’re fighting back!” Fighting back from what!? This team was ahead all night!
Maybe some of you know the history of punditry better than I, but did this all start with Keith Olbermann (who came to politics from sports) or does punditry date back to the dawn of the 24 hour news channel? I think, because men run the news channels, they have hired people and steered the narrative to make political discussion just like sports talk.
Half the commentary on these games I watch is BS, just to fill up time and increase ratings. All the political noise of our MSM is the same.
I’ll be coming to TOD for my news on Tuesday. :-) Thanks for providing this place for us!
HZ just now read your beautiful post on the previous thread. A blessed birthday to you, and welcome to my decade! Nice to know there’s company for me…..this month I will be 3/4 of a century, and loving every day of it. I hope you saw the picture of our Silver Fox on Rise and Shine this morning. I still miss him.
Am so impressed with your good work, and good spirits, in the face of difficulty. Is your dear brother all right? Have a good night’s sleep, and know that someone in Oklahoma is thinking of you!
In spite of the fact that Republicans think nothing has changed politically since our POTUS came in, GOTV has become the watchword and song for campaigns now. Did we ever hear of “the ground game” before him? Would a RNC chair ever have used those words before, like Priebus did today? NO. In spite of them, the ground has shifted, the world is different since he became president, and they will have to play by new rules from now on. He will continue to teach us about being true citizens after 2017. We can never go back to being uninvolved.
You are so correct, and I never used the acronyms POTUS and FLOTUS before to designate the President and First Lady. Times have changed surely in the arena of politics……for better and for so much worse when it comes to rethugs. Colin Powell was right. PBO is a transformative person.
Did anyone else catch this? When PBO joined and raised arms with Tom Wolf, the candidate used his other hand to point to POTUS and if there was a balloon over his head I think it would show us he is saying “Look who I am standing next to!!” This guy gets it.
Yay! I made it home in time to see the last 3 mins of The President’s speech! He’s amazing!
Got a kick out of watching the women behind him on the left side of the screen squeal with delight and jump up and down mouthing the words “Oh My God!” after they shook his hands! So cute!
Also liked seeing a female SS agent on security detail tonight too!
What fun it is to be able to watch these! I don’t recall ever caring to see these kinds of events from any other President or candidate in the past.
We are so lucky! Thank you again,Chips for making TOD THE place to all the real scoop! You Da QUEEN! :-D
I was there, but we were way up in the ‘cheap seats.’ Happy to be there, but also happy to be able to sit down. It was COLD waiting to get in the building. I’ve had my share of working my way up to the front. If I was by myself, I probably would have been plotting on how to get there!! ;);)
And yes, the crowd BOOED Mayor Nutter. On a positive note, the joint was jumping, packed and positive for Wolf. PEOPLE BETTER VOTE!!! ;):):)
Wasn’t that great? I LOVE watching him interact with the crowd afterwards. I saw Pete Souza behind him snapping what will be some amazing photos. Just wonderful!
Good evening TOD ohana. Crazy election cycle, but exciting as well. After voting early and checking in with my peeps, I have been keeping busy with life and avoiding the crazy and waiting with patience for the final votes to be tallied. So proud of all of the Democratic grass roots activists GOTV efforts and the steely resolve on the part of so many voters, old and new, who are streaming to the polls. Will join everyone on Tuesday evening. I have a feeling that we will have much to celebrate.
I love me some PBO in Philadelphia. When my health was better, I used to make the journey to see my POTUS everywhere he was. I can no longer do that, but thanks to TODVille, I can follow him every day. Thank you Chips!
Thank you for these Nerdy! I’m going to forward that pic to a client who is a PBO fan but has been watching CNN (horrors!) etc., and has only been hearing doom and gloom about the election.
And thank you so much for all of your volunteer work. That story about the elderly voter you took to the polls really touched and inspired me. You rock!
Were you a political science major? Are you thinking of going into public service yourself one day?
Great speech by the President. He can fire up a crowd (and anybody watching on television or online) unlike any politician I have ever seen. Clinton made you feel good, PBO makes you feel alive, proud and eager to do your part to make this country a “more perfect union”. “Inspirational” is the word. This is why the powers that be who control our government and our media are so afraid of PBO. His reelection disproved most of their blatantly racist ideas about Black people voting in 2012. It disproved their view that their were enough racists in this country to elect a sweaty, compulsive lying empty suit who would not release his tax return or tell America what his plans were for the country. These individuals and corporations that control the media, the House and Senate GOP and the Supreme Court are doing everything they can to fight the tide of change. No group in power every gives up that power without a fight. Sometimes through control of media they are able to control and manipulate the masses. When a voice comes along that can awaken the people from their media induced comas, and expose the game that is being played, these folks become anxiety ridden and desperate. That explains the reason why the MSM, which is the mouthpiece of the ruling class/owner class, has such a negative reaction to all things Obama. Recognize the game being played and the AGENDA that is being pushed by the media.
god is making me laugh a lot today. Horrible Joel Osteen appeared on the Big Buildup to Nik Wallenda walking the high wire between 2 skyscrapers in Chgo—-which is happening in a few—-glad it’s not me—- I can barely tolerate elevators.
Carolyn, in 2010 I attended a rally this big, outdoors, which featured both PBO and VP Biden, Senator Casey, etc., and the Dems did not come out, as PBO said. So polls may be rigged, but this all still makes me very nervous. I don’t have the stomach for politics.
I think carolyn meant that the polls about PBO’s approval and favorable ratings are rigged. She was not talking about the midterm voting polls. In any case, the current midterm polls show Wolf ahead of his GOP opponent corbett.
I love coming to this place when I feel down about the way the president has been treated by the yellow bellied media and the public at large who are being led along like a bunch of sheep. It’s difficult to remain positive on a political front with so much damage that the republicans have done and continue to do in this country. I need to come to place where I can feel more upbeat and happy about life.
Well it goes beyond the media but also Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. Two men who I once respected and now don’t. With Maher it was after he demonized Muslims and went beyond his occasional president bashing and with Stewart… Well I think of him as a republican who once was a democrat. Now I’ve been trying not to watch the tv at all when it concerns politics. Of course I always fail at this, but that’s just me.
Maher is brilliant one day, a dick the next, so I kind of discount him.
But I’d put Stewart even above Greenwald on the loathsome human being list - a smug, ‘I’ve got mine’, privileged prick, who has the luxury of being cynical and encourages his audience to be the same. He’s the leader of the ‘it’s cool not to vote because both sides are the same’ fuckwittery. I despise him. He’s brilliant too, and often hilarious, but as I said before, he’s like the insufferable smart ass at the back of the class.
I’m so tired of health workers being demonized by people. I recently had this argument with someone about Ebola. He was clueless about Ebola and tried to assert that he was some sort of expert.

Plus, by staying home, I got to coach the E-A-G-L-E-S to a win!

Yet 100% of the media has forgotten such things - and still people vote for him - sigh

Mofos. Now do they get away with this?
Thankfully, the voter reported it and they took the machine out of service. He was directed to another machine to complete his vote.
Most excellent! Thank you for pushing folk to focus when they vote, meta!!
I hope this was recognized right away.
Thanks, Bobfr. We have to protect the integrity of this election!
I have fb’d all tweets in this series, plus I fb nearly all tod posts. The darkness will fail, if I have any say at all in it!
Thanks so much, dear MightyP. Every little bit helps.
No hecklers I hope, if so please show them the door.
Hecklers in Philly? Not likely…
Totally agree! (How are you, Alycee? Haven’t caught up with you in a while!)
None. In that audience I don’t think they’d survive!
You guys were right. No hecklers. Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a humble, funny person this Tom Wolf is. He’s going to be a fine leader for PA!
“Is that you mom …” I really like this fella!
He’s got a great sense of humor, too!
Love him!! :-)
Awesome!
yes he is…..the president says that he is a nice guy.. i wonder what his plan will be to handle the GOP legislature in the State house..
Wolf is a smart man, he knows that the crowd is not there to see him. But Mr. Wolf they are there to vote for you.
C-SPAN showing Wolf now!!! PBO in minutes
Hi TOD…. CSPAN is also carrying the Tom Wolf rally with PBO.
Yup - I’m even DVRing it.. :)
uh oh… Did they boo Mayor Nutter ?
Yep
They always boo him but I’m glad he takes it. Not a big fan but respect should be given in public, IMO, unless somebody kills your mama !
Loudly, yes. Mayor Nutter was booed. He knew he would be. But he kept it moving, mentioned PBO, Wolf and Temple to get the crowd back to positive.
HZ just now read your beautiful post on the previous thread. A blessed birthday to you, and welcome to my decade! Yes, Carolyn.
HZ is an inspiration to all, and armed with comprehensive information.
The media (GOP propaganda team) cannot allow any truth about what this Administration has done for the 99% to be broadcast/published.
There’s a chance a viewer might actually be listening, and be swayed by facts/accomplishments and vote Dem.
LOL.
Nobody does GOTV like President Obama.
In spite of the fact that Republicans think nothing has changed politically since our POTUS came in, GOTV has become the watchword and song for campaigns now. Yes, he does!! He knew folks were there to see PBO. But he also mentioned the issues that matter. Jobs, Public Education, Healthcare!
Thanks for posting, Bobfr. Heard PBO say he worked on cutting out the letters, but the signs didn’t appear on the cbs feed.
He was really cute imitating cutting out the letters, wasn’t he, Arapaho :)
LOVED the PA crowd.
The President showered love on that state, and I was thrilled to hear him endorse JackieG’s choice for Congressman!
Philly is wild for PBO; hope Philly gets out and votes !
Yay! I made it home in time to see the last 3 mins of The President’s speech! He’s amazing!

I’m shocked they broadcast it. I looked for it earlier on the other locals, but ended with C-Span. Crunch time !!
Loved Wolf’s running mate who came out and said he was still shaking after meeting President Obama. Said he had a man crush!! LOLz!!
Dang, I missed that. Was that from a local feed?
Yes, it was the local feed Chips posted.
Send it to Jon Karl. Perhaps he can finally come to terms with his own repressed man crush…
The first time I ever got a remote control, I thought to myself: “Man, this changes everything.”
That President Obama——-quite spectacular on the campaign trail——the best ever.

Great speech by the President. He can fire up a crowd (and anybody watching on television or online) unlike any politician I have ever seen. I don’t know what Tuesday will bring, but I’m not giving up. I don’t believe things will be as bad as Republicans and the media hope it be.
Hope it will be.

President Obama and entourage are changing to a different plane in Philly because of a problem with the flaps on AF1, WH says.
YIKES
To be technical, whatever plane the president is on is “Air Force One” Not a back-up, it’s the real thing, even if it’s a two-seater.
Watch CNN, MSNBC as they report people walking out from POTUS event.
Livestream for One-term Tom’s rally is up. The just played “Dixie.”
I bet Chuckie Todd and Count von Knoller are watching.
Excellent!

So sad. Lawrence O’Donnell did a half hour on her story the other night.
May she rest in peace.

WORD.

Awwww! <3
I’m so tired of health workers being demonized by people. I recently had this argument with someone about Ebola. He was clueless about Ebola and tried to assert that he was some sort of expert.
How about getting enthused about some GOTV? That’s what is needed and matters.
