So, I’m going to put this out for the wisdom of the crowd.
I may have an opportunity to join the bargaining unit of my union. Our contract is up for negotiation soon, and the old timers just don’t want to do it any longer.
Should I accept if offered? I’ll have to get more particulars, of course, but I think it could be a rather exciting side gig.
And - my vote - go for it, since you definitely have the skills and heart for that union gig! Expect agita down the road, but you can turn it over to the next person when you’ve “served enough.”
LL, it will be great work, hard, contentious, and rewarding. I do believe if we want to change something we have to step up. But I also believe you have to look at all parts for yourself. It is your choice. Also you need to discuss it with the missus. Good luck.
Methinks you would be very good at it. You definitely are able to put your thoughts into words that are easily understood. From everything you have said about your work at the library, you are able to deal with thickheaded, stubborn people without losing your cool.
At the same time, it would be frustrating work and you need to make sure the missus will be willing to listen to you complain. Coming here and talking about the frustrations isn’t quite the same.
Oh, definitely talk it over with Missus LL. I know my mom would be proud of me, though. She’s an old union hand, which is why she’s one of the few Cubans of her generation who is a Democrat.

Good afternoon, TOD. Glad to see AMK back. Request prayers, my Aunt Tay passed away this morning; her daughter Maxine is in the hospital with a severe infection. Think I mentioned Aunt Tay back on October 12th; we celebrated her 93rd birthday and she was having a superb day — was totally lucid and able to sit with us in the dining room during the whole party. At the party, we each received a gift — a book from her collection of prayers, devotions, and inspirationals. I shall cherish mine always.
Oh Alycee, hugs, thoughts and prayers. What a wonderful gift, her book. I know it will give all of your family great comfort. Extra prayers for Maxine. May she heal soon.

Do town halls where there are known to be a high amount of undocumented immigrants. Give them voice. Do news interviews with local media in highly undocumented areas of the country. These major networks get to deny him a national audience and then get rewarded with high ratings because he graces their set. It infuriates me!
