As we come to the close of another day I feel hopeful.
This may sound strange but I feel everything that has happened was supposed to happen. I am trying to understand where this is coming from inside of me and why. This feels like a wakeup call for all humanity to once and for all be your brother’s keeper, be your sister’s keeper. It is not about you or me. It is all about us.
I am already getting teary eyes in anticipation for the President’s speech tomorrow night.
I feel this will be the speech of all speeches.
This speech will circumcise our hearts. This speech will either make you or break you.
This speech will be the heart of our President and the soul of our Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
Even those yet dare to come in the future regardless of the color of your skin. It is a heart-thing.
This speech will cause us to speak now or forever hold your PEACE.
This speech will tell you who you are. Where you have been. Where you are going.
This speech will shake things up. Wake up the sleepy heads. Bury the walking dead.

It is safe here and I will not allow anyone to twist, turn and taint our President’s message to We, the People.
The movie “Selma” is perfect timing for these days we are witnessing all over the world.
I did not realize that 25,000 brave souls marched on the second time over the bridge in Selma with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
While 25,000 March in NYC for justice while I was in Washington, D.C. marching as well for Eric Gardner and others who were murdered because of the color of their skin. It is a remarkable coincident.
It seems as though I have been marching for a long time now. But ” I am not tired, yet”. An old song that the grandmothers sang in church.
I read something that our dear Alycee posted that chilled my soul. It is remarkable how the brain protects you from painful memories that I heard as a child.
In essence what the post was saying it was the terror that African Americans were facing down south along with the segregation. Anytime another human being could hatefully snatch you from your own home in the night slap, spit or kick you in broad daylight. Demand that you walk on the other side of the street while they passed by and your eyes were not to meet theirs. That is terrorism in the heinous form to another human being.
But the grace of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to forgive non-violently is a miracle from God.
I feel our President must have felt some of the emotions Dr. King has felt. Even though he may never admit it ever because of his humility.
I will continue to pray for his safety as I know others do all over the world.

I am grateful that MLK Day is federal holiday — otherwise his genius and leadership would not have the legacy it deserves. The best part of the holiday is that our lazy media is forced to admit that African Americans are part of this country, and to acknowledge a least one or two contributions they have made to this country.
But this should happen every.single.day.
Drives me nuts that MSM seem to consider this a “Black” holiday — @nytimes had something earlier on their home page that said something to the effect of “how Blacks react to MLK Day.” Just waiting for next month when they banner “how Whites react to President’s Day” (since it combines Geo Washington and Abe Lincoln’s birthdays into a single holiday).

The Kimmel Center’s Education Department 13th annual tribute performance commemorating the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was being held on his actual 86th birth date — Jan. 15 — and the venue was abuzz.
More than 50 regional student singers, dancers and musicians had gathered for a celebration of the spirit of King as an activist, humanitarian and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

Thank you so much for this round-up. So important people can come together and commit to continue working together to realize MLK’s dream. Selma was so powerful. I have started reading the 3 volume Taylor Branch history of MLK and the civil rights movement: the courage of those that sat down, got beaten, jailed again and again, and even killed contrasts with the sheer viciousness of white racists and indifference of white politicians. Should be required reading.
