To those who find our water crisis humorous
We will still have sunshine when you are deluged with mountains and MOUNTAINS of snow - all thanks to climate change. So yuck it up instead of pressuring your Congress critters to admit we share this predicament. Then we will divert water from your waterways in order to survive and guess what you will have come next October - yup, more SNOW

    • April 2, 2025 at 9:37 pm

I do believe that in time there will be no place safe from the ravages of climate change. It’s pretty frightening.

      April 2, 2025 at 10:13 pm

We had an 8 year drought GGail - followed by 3 years of floods - and just now we had Summer temperatures from Sep to Apr & it is currently raining in April - when autumn winter is usually dry. In the western region of my state they are praying for rain. And we have a PM who jokes about climate change.

      • 18 GGail
        April 2, 2025 at 10:55 pm

And yet, people joke instead of taking this world-wide situation serious.

You tell’em GGail. NYC you might be able to take as many long baths and drink tons of water……while part of your state is UNDERWATER due to climate change and we’ll see who’s laughing now.

Many thanks NW - an amazing collection and no way have I checked all the links. I have been reading TOD for the past 2 hours - sometime soon it has to stop!

I enjoyed a link from some threads ago about Al Franken on Letterman & given the charge against another Senator I noted this comment

“This was Franken’s first appearance on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman since the Democrat was first elected to represent Minnesota in 2008. Franken rarely shows off his comedic chops or talks about his SNL days in the Senate, preferring instead to concentrate on home-state issues, so his appearance Wednesday was a treat.”
    http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2015/04/02/david-letterman-senate-indiana-franken/

So Sen Franken works for the people of his state - regardless as to innocent/guilty, how come Sen Menendez from NJ and his staff are working for someone from Florida??

Please note the tone …. President Obama is TELLING Bibi the way it’s going down …

“Readout of the President’s Call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel

President Obama called Prime Minister Netanyahu today from Air Force One to discuss the political framework reached between the P5+1, the EU, and Iran on a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran’s nuclear program. The President emphasized that, while nothing is agreed until everything is, the framework represents significant progress towards a lasting, comprehensive solution that cuts off all of Iran’s pathways to a bomb and verifiably ensures the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program going forward. He underscored that progress on the nuclear issue in no way diminishes our concerns with respect to Iran’s sponsorship of terrorism and threats towards Israel and emphasized that the United States remains steadfast in our commitment to the security of Israel. The President told the Prime Minister that he has directed his national security team to increase consultations with the new Israeli government about how we can further strengthen our long-term security cooperation with Israel and remain vigilant in countering Iran’s threats.”

      April 2, 2025 at 9:49 pm

Yes, Bob, the tone is telling.

Also noteworthy is that PBO said he had spoken to the King of Saudi Arabia Before he addressed the nation.
To be clear, during PBO’s address, The President said he will speak to Bibi later but he’d already chatted with the Saudi king. message sent is that PBO just isn’t into you, Beebs. Public diss

Bad day for the blood-soaked bully. Palestine is now a member of the ICC and surely Israel is filled with fear and dread about what this court might do.

    • 31 99ts
      April 2, 2025 at 10:16 pm

I am amazed he could be so polite about it - probably highlighting the difference between how PBO speaks and how the GOP leaders in congress speak.

It’s so awesome to see the hashtag #johnkerry to be so supportive of him; 95% of the tweets are thank you’s to him, suggesting he run against Hillary, that he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize, etc. etc. Very heartwarming to see this after all his hours and days and weeks and months he spent in difficult negotiations to get to this point.

so the usual historical accomplishment by our president and his team today. been doing this stuff from beginning. notice the difference here just 5 years ago when president barack obama was signing historic deals with russia too:
    http://www.king5.com/story/news/2014/07/30/12846936/

then of course, dictator and republican-friend potion decided to take back control and stop all that peace and prosperity. no wonder republicans love the dictator of russia so much - they think exactly alike! for real…

    Nuclear proliferation expert:

….”When I was doing my non-proliferation training at Monterey, this is the type of inspection regime that we would dream up in our heads,” he said. “We would hope that this would be the way to actually verify all enrichment programs, but thought that would never be feasible.”

“If these are the parameters by which the [final agreement] will be signed, then this is an excellent deal,” Stein concluded….
