On Jan 17 2009 Republicans decided Obama must fail at all costs..making him a one term President was just accepting the fact that he was already President..All efforts to kill ObamaCare will intensify after all letting it survive will prove that he was President and we cant have that can we?? Same way Slavery Continuation became States Rights will be the same way ObamaCare will become Bad for America, Bad for Economy and everything to repeal will be tried

Not to forget this other major victory ….

“WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court handed a major victory to the Obama administration and civil rights groups on Thursday when it upheld a key tool used for more than four decades to fight housing discrimination.

The justices ruled 5-4 that federal housing laws prohibit seemingly neutral practices that harm minorities, even without proof of intentional discrimination. The case involved an appeal from Texas officials accused of violating the Fair Housing Act by awarding federal tax credits in a way that kept low-income housing out of white neighborhoods.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, often a swing vote, joined the court’s four liberal members in upholding the use of so-called “disparate impact” cases.

The ruling is a win for housing advocates who argued that the Fair Housing Act allows challenges to race-neutral policies that have a negative impact on minority groups. The Justice Department has used disparate impact lawsuits to win millions of dollars in legal settlements from companies accused of bias against black and Hispanic customers.”

    Barack Obama’s Best Day Ever
    http://www.nationaljournal.com/white-house/barack-obama-s-best-day-ever-20150625
June 25, 2025 In a presidency filled with ceaseless wars, unfulfilled promises, and electoral disappointments, President Obama is having one of the best days he could ever hope for.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Affordable Care Act, securing a much-needed win for Obama’s embattled health care law. Across the street just a few hours later, Congress was set to pass a worker-assistance bill that the president will sign along with fast-track authority, advancing a crucial piece of his trade agenda.

“They must be popping the champagne corks at the White House this morning,” mused former Clinton policy adviser and Brookings Institution senior fellow William Galston. “And why not?”

Obamacare, the chief domestic priority of the president’s first term, again received the green light from the Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision upholding the law’s insurance subsidies nationwide.

And as the chief policy priority of his second term, Obama has pushed for fast-track authority on trade deals such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership. After some initial stumbles and hurt feelings within his own party, the final pieces of the trade puzzle were poised to head to his desk Thursday afternoon. (In yet another win, albeit a less monumental one, the Supreme Court Thursday also upheld a central legal argument for the administration’s efforts to fight housing discrimination.)

Two legacy-defining policy successes, plus another win for good measure—all in one day.

“It’s why you run for office. It’s why you aspire to put up with all the other negative aspects of work in politics and governing,” said former Sen. Tom Daschle, a longtime Obama confidante who now chairs the public advisory firm The Daschle Group. “This is as good as it gets for the president of the United States. It will never be a better week than this for him.”

A day like this—when two legacy-defining policy pushes come to fruition within hours of each other—doesn’t happen often. Every once in a while, Galston said, there’s a “harmonic convergence.”

Gov. Chris Christie will announce Tuesday (June 30) in Livingston, N.J., whether he will run for president in 2016, a source close to his campaign confirmed.

Mr. Christie has been traveling the country under the banner of his political organization, Leadership Matters for America, delivering policy heavy speeches on entitlement reform and education, along with holding town hall meetings as part of a “Tell It Like It Is” tour.

Mr. Christie will make his announcement at Livingston High School, his alma mater.

    Oh CNN - really?

Roberts vs. Scalia in Obamacare bout

Washington (CNN)It was Roberts vs. Scalia in a legal heavyweight tussle for the ages.

In one corner: conservative Chief Justice John Roberts. In the other: veteran fellow conservative Justice Antonin Scalia. The prize: the fate of Obamacare, centerpiece of the most liberal presidency in decades.

And for the second time, Roberts won on points.

Roberts’s ring was the ornate Supreme Court chamber fringed by towering Corinthian columns and red velvet curtains, one of the few venues left in American public life not penetrated by the modern age — no television coverage, no tweeting, no selfies. The stands were the wooden seats packed with an electrified audience of lawyers, reporters and members of the public.

So the monumental ruling was handed down Thursday in similarly hushed conditions to the great Supreme Court judgments of history — in contrast to the pandemonium that erupted on the marble plaza outside. There, Obamacare supporters exploded in cheers and started chanting “ACA is here to stay” as news flashed that the law had been saved again.

This is all I could find and this don’t look like he’s been fired…

CNN’s Don Lemon appeared on Glenn Beck‘s radio show earlier this week, so Beck returned the favor by appearing with Lemon on CNN tonight, and they bonded over being targets of online political correctness.

Beck complimented Lemon for not being an “ideologue” and they discussed the Confederate flag before getting around to the n-word.

Beck said he’s uncomfortable with the word, while lamenting how the PC culture has started to “ban ideas.” “Political correctness,” he said, “is keeping me from talking to you and you from talking to me because some of your viewers won’t like it.”

Lemon brought up how he’s been getting crap online because he had on a guest who said President Obama should apologize on behalf of the U.S. for slavery, while Beck bemoaned how a Miami Herald columnist distorted his commentary on Charleston.

      • 57 Vicki
        June 25, 2025 at 5:41 pm

Jealousy, if I had to select one word. Cuomo is in his second and term-limited last year as NY Governor. In 3 years his political career is over. He is an ambitious man and had expected to at least, run for President, if not win.

Bill de Blasio ignored Andrew, (along with Mike Bloomberg) when he was inaugurated as NYC Mayor. De Blasio barely acknowledged Bloomberg or Cuomo. They were humiliated and furious.
Bill and Hillary, on the other hand, were front and center and Bill spoke and introduced de Blasio.

The battle was public at that moment and it has never abated.

They so want PBO to be a lame duck. They salivate for his defeat. They celebrate and amplify each set back and lost “battle”, while ignoring the direction the “war” is actually going (prime example was the Fast Track drama). Some of it is for rating and attention, but most of it is to create a false impression of reality. All the stupid headlines trumpeting PBO’s latest Katrina moment, or the end of his presidency (which have all been “won” by PBO, btw) are to brainwash the public into viewing PBO’s presidency in a negative light. With each victory PBO cements his legacy as one of this country’s greatest and most consequential presidents. All the treachery, deceit and disloyalty on display these last few weeks, makes these victories in trade, ACA and Fair Housing for the Administration all the sweeter. To quote Ice Cube, today was a good day.

I see nothing wrong with single women having children & find it very sad that the religious RWNJs make them apologise for same. It is also incredibly sad that sex education - by parents, schools and anyone else in the RWNJ world see contraception as sinful. If Bristol came from a sane family she would have been using birth control since she became sexually active. This is 2015.

I can still remember the absolute heartfelt relief when I first had access to the birth control pill. For the first time ever I was in control of my own reproductive system. I was not reliant on anyone else. A new world awakened.

        :D

BTW, Sandy & everyone - please don’t miss the not so nuanced nuance that they explicitly indicated that Vlad called :)

This should be interesting. Putty realizing Barack isn’t quite a lame duck, perhaps…

Clearly, LL, POTUS is far, far from a ‘lame duck’ and Vlad’s got some hot issues on his hands including Daesh reportedly establishing operations in the Caucasus, his economy is sucking wind, Ukraine will never go gentle into the night & a nuke deal with Iran is a big deal for him for a slew of reasons.

        We’ll see :)

I thought it LL and surprise…surprise, you had already written it. My guess is Putin realizes that POTUS is not playing.

      readout-
putin: um, golly, good work on that trade thing, and the health insurance thing, and the um, flags coming down, and uh let’s see, the housing ruling. pretty good day.
      pbo: uh-huh.
putin: so, just thinking, maybe if you wanna drop those pesky sanctions, then gosh, you’d have another win today! politically, ya know, it would look good for you. boost your polling numbers.
      pbo: uh-huh.
putin: oh, and of course, we’d like, pull back a bit in ukraine, gradually, sort of maybe next year? because right now, we just want to help you out, politically. lame duck and all.
      pbo: uh-huh.
putin: so think about that- or otherwise, i might have to take off my shirt and ride a tank or something. that always makes you look bad.
      pbo: (laughing uncontrollably) bye now.

I remember seeing Paul Ryan’s smirking rude face after his own pounding of Secretary Burwell while Levin spoke. He is so egotistical.

Paul Krugman - HOORAY FOR OBAMACARE

“Was I on the edge of my seat, waiting for the Supreme Court decision on Obamacare subsidies? No — I was pacing the room, too nervous to sit, worried that the court would use one sloppily worded sentence to deprive millions of health insurance, condemn tens of thousands to financial ruin, and send thousands to premature death.

It didn’t. And that means that the big distractions — the teething problems of the website, the objectively ludicrous but nonetheless menacing attempts at legal sabotage — are behind us, and we can focus on the reality of health reform. The Affordable Care Act is now in its second year of full operation; how’s it doing?

The answer is, better than even many supporters realize.”
