Glad to see that! We must each gather our courage and push back on the gun fetishists’ insane insistence that more of us be armed at all times. Even in my blue state, there are many such people in Southern Oregon near Roseburg planning an event to protest the President’s private visit with UCC families. The comments on their Facebook post are hateful and incendiary. I called the chief of staff for Senator Merkley who lost a family member in that murder to report the post and asked her to pass it on to the Secret Service and Dept of Homeland Security. We won’t let these sociopaths speak for Oregon about President Obama’s genuine concern for these families’ grief.

Heard a young woman spout off on TV last night that the President had better not make this political when he came to speak in Roseburg. She just made it political by saying that. We live north of Seattle, thought about going to Roseburg when President speaks, to support him, frankly I am concerned for my life if go their and express my opinion.

And I love how he says “transfer into a world of happiness and meaning for those around you.” Not money, power, status, but happiness and meaning. To me that says so much about this man.

Also, why run an ad like this if he has not decided to run. Surely the Draft Biden people know something we have been waiting to hear for months now. What a beautiful way to kick off his campaign.

      With fingers crossed…..

And I’m bringing this over. New thread posted by the time I finished typing this.

Okay people. Tell me if I live in a “lost their fricking minds” RED state!?!?!?!?! County next to us: County commissioners had a resolution before them last night that “God’s wrath over the SC legalization of same-sex marriage” would spare the county. One of the CRAZY commissioners brought the resolution before the commissioners. It failed in committee, but geez. These people are crazy!!!! Then, our esteemed Lt. Governor encouraged all Christians to arm themselves and begin packing. So, after he came out with that batshit crazy idea, a local gun store said it would offer a discount to any Christian coming in to buy a gun. I know many of you live in areas like this. Frankly, this is all getting scary for me. I messaged last night with a friend from church and she’s seriously considering looking for a new job because all the Board members and higher ups where she works are crazy right-wingers. She loves her job (Knoxville Area Rescue Mission), but not sure how much longer she can deal with the comments and attitudes. Feel like many of us are truly living in lalalalalala land. :( :(

Did see this LTE just now: Regarding Tennessee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey urging fellow Christians to get handgun carry permits, can anyone seriously imagine Jesus, the Prince of Peace, packing heat? I, for one, cannot.

      October 7, 2025 at 10:59 am

I’m too upset to comment much on this now. Wow. Just wow.

However, it emphasizes how important down ticket races are, and NO ONE votes in those elections but the crazies. This was the plan of the Christian Right, going back to the 70’s: to infiltrate school boards, county commissions, local politics. Remake those bodies one by one, and move up. All the while, the Dems called them crazy and did nothing. Didn’t fight back on that level, didn’t establish Democratic media. Just thought calling them crazy would fix it all.

      • 21 tnmtngirl
        October 7, 2025 at 11:10 am

KABOOM, 57. Absolutely correct. Their plan did begin in the 70’s and they have never strayed from it. Consistency, excellent messaging-gotta give them credit-while the Dems sit back and do or say little, if anything.

      October 7, 2025 at 11:47 am

Well did anyone speak out when they brought the resolution before the commissioners? Did your friend speak out to Board and management at the job? If not, why not? They will continue to be crazy “in the name of god” until Christian calls them out on the bullshit.

      • 25 tnmtngirl
        October 7, 2025 at 12:06 pm

Regarding the resolution: Yes, that’s the reason it didn’t even get out of committee. There’s been LOTS of people interviewed, speaking out against it and lots of people showed up at the meeting. At least, the rest of the commissioners didn’t bow to the one crazy! Regarding my friend: No, she hasn’t and probably won’t. She is a single mom and needs the job, but she is going to keep looking around for other opportunities.

I felt VPOTUS was wrapping up “administrative stuff” before he announced he was running. The last few months he has been stepping up and taking on more of a presidential lite position. Sort of like POTUS gradually moving to the side so VPOTUS can move closer to his side and people will accept what will be deemed a natural transition.

I have no doubt that POTUS endorsed VPOTUS. Biden had his back through think and thin. Was faithful, loyal and was at the ready to fight for our President. It is the right thing to do. VPOTUS is qualified, he is a good man and I personally trust him. He has my votes and my money on lock. Nothing he could do would change my position or my commitment to him. I am ridin’ with Biden.

Steve Harvey said something yesterday about Black Lives Matter. I might not say it the way he did but I will try. He said that we don’t want cops to lose their lives, he said that we know that all lives do matter, but what Black Lives Matter is trying to do is get people to understand is that Black Lives matter just as much as everyone else.

actually no. Ben Carson may be ignorant and has shown the ability to spout Grade A bullshyte as well as the rest of the GOP field running for office, but he has never shot any black folks for breathing the same air, never had any arrested for walking down his street, hasn’t contributed to the poverty levels by bad hiring practices, or tried to shut them out of housing. I doubt that he committed any crimes himself and blamed it on the black guy so…this comparison is silly and dead wrong.

In a bid for progressives, Clinton starts to distance herself from Obama
By Anne Gearan October 6 at 9:12 PM

DAVENPORT, Iowa — In the run-up to the first Democratic presidential debate, embattled front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton is attempting to set herself apart by criticizing one Democrat in particular: President Obama.

With direct comparisons and implicit criticism, Clinton is increasingly using the Obama White House — and the popular occupant who isn’t running — to say what she would do differently in a Clinton White House.

Much of her new criticism of Obama on issues such as immigration and the Keystone XL pipeline is a way to appeal to progressive voters
disappointed by some administration positions. The critiques also allow her to draw distinctions with Vice President Biden, a potential late-entering challenger for the Democratic nomination.

The positioning marks a notable shift for Clinton, who has spent much of her campaign embracing Obama’s broader agenda in hopes of harnessing the coalition of young and minority voters who helped propel him to two terms in the White House.

All Hillary would need to do is say she is “building on the PBO administration record”, like she did with Obamacare (which was mis-characterized by the media). But she’s too small to do that. Attacks are what come naturally to her.

The notion that she is more progressive than PBO is laughable. Hey, I’ll defend her against any GOP candidate, and I’ll turn myself inside out to do it if I have to. But it won’t be easy……..

      • 64 Don
        October 7, 2025 at 12:04 pm

57, I’ve been saying that to whomever would listen. The first Democrat that says that they will build upon what President Obama has created would win the nomination hands down. The Clintons are stuck in 90’s, what won back then will not work today. You would have thought that Obama handing the Clintons their asses on a silver platter in 2008 would have taught them how to campaign.

        • 65 57andfemale
          October 7, 2025 at 12:19 pm

The Clintons showed themselves to be the petty people they are in 2008. For God’s sake, find a way to get even MORE people to vote for you, not divide the electorate even further.

Bernie Sanders is a child who thinks the world is simple, and destruction leads to utopia. Good God. He honestly thinks if he screams loud enough, everyone will fall into place behind him. Now that’s what I call NAIVE. He’s never worked to make Congress better, helped people get elected, worked for a functional system. But he thinks he can waltz in, become a Convenient Democrat, and bark to get his way. He doesn’t work with people,or find consensus. He absents himself, and calls it a crusade. He’s a petulant child. And I have been saying, will his supporters cut him some slack if he can’t deliver ponies on Day One? Or do the ridiculous expectations only apply to the black guy currently in the WH?

If he thinks anti-Semitism won’t rear its ugly head like racism did, he’s really delusional.

The apparent need of Hillary and Bernie to discount these phenomenal 7 years and the unprecedented obstruction, and think they can start from Square One, just astounds me. How petty, how small, how stupid.

    • 71 cd4biden
      October 7, 2025 at 12:49 pm

      rikyrah,

Perhaps there may be another reason. If VP Biden does run for President he will be running on the accomplishments of the Obama administration. If Hillary were to do the same thing, there would be no “difference” between the two candidates. Therefore, she must differentiate herself in some way, because this is still Primary season, Thus the attacks she makes on the President, similar to Bernie. It is just so sad that they feel they have to do this instead of running by saying how they would build upon POTUS’s great accomplishments.
