I was thinking that, too, but then I saw the body language in the photos. Seems to me that Nutty-yahoo has been called on the carpet. Professor President Obama is educating him on what does and does not happen when you insult and denigrate the people who provide you with money and protection.

Russia should be suspended from athletics competition, a World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) commission has recommended.

An independent Wada commission examined allegations that Russian athletes paid their own doping officials to supply banned substances and cover up tests, while the IAAF was implicated in covering up the abuse.

For the current primary season, I think the lack of a credible and viable challenge is a problem. There are a lot of people on her side but she’s going to basically cruise to the nomination, so many don’t feel an URGENCY to get involved. That must change for the general and it won’t matter who the GOP nominee is because they’re all insanely inadequate and crazy.

The lack of a challenge to Hillary is a problem. In 2007/08 we had 3 very credible candidates, PBO, Hillary, Edwards. it made the election exciting for everyone. I worry if Hillary cruises to the nomination, many voters will disengage, believing that she will just walk into the WH. The Clintons caused this problem themselves by clearing the field for her. It would have been nice to have a strong candidate, especially a woman, running against her.

The biggest hurdle for getting rid of the tax is figuring out how to replace the $87 billion in government revenue for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The tax on high-cost insurance plans is at the heart of Obama’s strategy to contain costs across the marketplace. Health officials and economists close to the law are dead set against abandoning the tax, which they argue should nudge employers and employees toward cheaper insurance plans with less waste.

I really don’t understand this move unless they’re just doing it to support Clinton. It not only creates an $86B hole, it undermines the long-term strategy for cost-containment trajectory.

It’s not about Clinton. It’s about the unions, who use Cadillac insurance plans as an important means of compensation. They have been against these plans from Day One.

I have friends in Cadillac plans. My one friends gets an MRI every time she gets a sinus headache. I think everyone should have access to excellent health care, but it’s these kinds of abuses that perpetuate our broken for-profit health care system.

The party leadership is getting great pressure from the unions on this tax, threatening to withhold support. Understand, the tax only applies to the amount of the policy over the very high threshold already established - NOT on the entire cost of the policy. Here is a case where the unions are not helping find another solution to those of us who desperately need ACA to be adequately funded.

Ben Carson, and the failure of black conservatives

    Terrell Jermaine Starr

I was a 17-year-old teenager growing up on the west side of Detroit when I first read Ben Carson’s biography Gifted Hands.

    ……………………………………………

In September during his tour of Ferguson, Missouri, where 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by former police officer Darren Wilson, Carson said, “We need to de-emphasize race and emphasize respect for each other.” He added that he was raised to respect police and “never had any problem.”

    This is Carson’s M.O.

When Carson speaks to the mostly white audiences who support him, he positions himself as a black person who doesn’t “complain” about racism. He argues that we need to move beyond having difficult discussions about race.

And his messaging during his campaign has been crystal clear: I am who I am because I worked hard, and that is the best way to overcome racism. If you are black and cannot succeed like me, he tells his mostly white audiences, then only you are to blame for your problems — not police brutality, an unfair criminal justice system, or racist hiring practices.

    ……………….

But Carson, the presidential candidate, doesn’t tell his white supporters about the pitfalls he narrowly avoided; he only talks about the heroic leaps he took in avoiding them. When I read Gifted Hands nearly 18 years ago as a young teenager, I never envisioned Carson becoming a 21st century Nat Turner — but neither could I foresee him dismissing racial injustice entirely. The culmination of Carson’s success, as I now know, was not designed to accommodate any sense of responsibility for those in the black community who didn’t “make it.”

Instead, it is only tailored to assure white voters that they don’t have to bear any of the racial baggage that comes with being black in America.

The White House plans to aggressively deploy President Barack Obama to rally Democrats to the polls for the 2016 election, particularly minority and young voters who are his strongest supporters.
His campaign work could be the difference between Democrats holding or losing the White House in 2016.
