I read her bio in Wikipedia and I was blown away.
      She had quite a life.
Hitler and Mussolini came to their lavished parties.
      She was quite a character.

Yep, blew me away when I first learn of her bio outside of the silver screen too. What an amazing woman with an amazing life.

Think I’ve mentioned here before - when I learned some of her amazing life recently, the facts of which didn’t make it into the movie magazines of last century - that I only recalled Hedy Lamarr as my old grandfather’s “love interest.” I was very young - back in the early 1950s - when I noticed my grandmother had a picture frame on the music stand with a woman’s image in it. Turns out it was Hedy’s photo - back then, to sell the frames, the sellers would insert some glam photo in them. I didn’t know who “that woman” was and asked my grandmother. To my shock (which is why I remember it), she answered, “Oh, it’s Hedy Lamarr. Your grandfather’s in love with her.”

          Ha!

JO’B, it’s hard to imagine a man of that era not falling in love with Hedy Lamarr. Her image on the screen was so perfect and luminous, it knocked your eyes out. Unfortunately, her beauty was a big obstacle to being taken seriously as an inventor, especially in those days. I think it also prevented her from getting really meaty roles because she was always the ultimate glamour girl who didn’t seem quite real. I read that Judy Garland was really envious of Hedy’s beauty and felt acutely self conscious about her own looks, which I think were adorable.

Absolutely fascinating life story. She was so much more than her Hollywood persona.

I had read about this before and I just love it! To be so accomplished in an age when there were so few women scientists is just awesome.

I’m heading to Orlando on Friday. Still trying to decide where to spend time other than a trip to Kennedy Space Center of course. :-D

I’m just curious about the Democratic organization in Kentucky. I feel sorry for this guy. I know the information is there to be had, but is there a core of people that knock on doors and answer questions?

I would appreciate this story more if it weren’t for the fact that many people will pay for the illusion or foolishness of those poor and middle-class voters that elect RWNJ all over this country.

At the moment, Highland Park’s popular schools are perilously overcrowded, with many classes in the district exceeding the state limit for number of students per class. The new construction, in addition to adding more classrooms, would preserve much-needed green space and bring more parking to the landlocked schools, as well as update their technological infrastructure.

According to anonymous emails that circulated in advance of the election, if the bond passed and the schools increased in size, Section 8 housing could spring up in the sliver of Dallas that’s part of the Highland Park Independent School District. And if that happens (spoiler alert: it won’t), who even knows what type of riffraff will crawl into the high-performing, affluent, and overwhelmingly white, schools: “non-English-speaking” students from all over Latin America, Middle Eastern refugees, assorted other low-income scum.

As one of the emails put it, “Diversity is an innocuous sounding method of diluting excellence.”

      From the link

“And you’ll never guess who is ultimately engineering this takeover: Barack Obama himself! “The Obama administration is determined to move low-income families into affluent cities and suburbs at virtually any cost,” reads one email.”
