Carolyn, Ryan is without class or grace. I put my hand up so I could blot out his face and focus on PBO and Biden. Ryan is just too small in spirit and gravitas to be speaker. Even Boehner was more gracious.
I choose to continue to bask in the words of our President. I do not want to tarnish the glow I am feeling with the rebuttal (which probably has nothing to do with what the President actually said) and the patter of the newstainers and pundits trying to create drama where there is none.
The Professor-in-Chief gave a lesson. How many actually opened their hearts and minds to learn?
How could anybody in that chamber and in the viewing audience NOT open their hearts and minds to our President’s words? Luckily, WE get it. We can’t worry about the others, but - by our example - we can show ’em how to act around each other!
wh.gov has a program still going. VP Biden is speaking in a video recorded just before he went up to the hill for the SOTU. It is good. VPB is amazing! <3
Well I do know this and it gives me great hope- he’s not walking off into the sunset. As “citizen” Obama- he’ll be one hell of a force.. and I am in, along with millions of others around this world.
I see so many people wanting him to be on the Supreme Court (as if the next pres can just waive a wand and make that happen). I know how amazing he would be, but I really want him “out in the world” being a citizen, speaking out, and continuing to inspire us.
yep me too- want him out in the world as a citizen, frankly I believe he can do far more as a citizen… he will be free (er) to speak out even more and he will have one hell of a community following/ leading along with him.
Every word the President spoke tonight he spoke to us. Yes, he was in the House Chamber, but all of them were so much window dressing. This was a conversation with every American and a call for us to live up to the challenge of what it means to live in this democracy. I honestly could not care less what any member of Congress thought or what the useless media says. If there were hearts to be touched, PBO touched them tonight and if there were minds to be opened, he reached out to them. We will never see anyone like him again!
I LOVED IT WITH CSPAN…THEY FOLLOWED HIM ALL THE WAY OUT SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS AND CHATTING…LOTS OF HUGS AND SHAKING HANDS…SO THIS IS MY FEELING TONITE….OTHER THAN BITTERSWEET…THIS IS THE LAST OF THE HONORABLE PRESIDENTS…THEY BROKE THE MOLD!
We are going to watch a movie, I can’t listen to those pundits. I am so emotional, that if someone critizizes my President I’ll throw something at my tv.
I am a die hard. I like Martin O’Malley best even though he is sure not to win by his polling and lack of media coverage. The reason is he has been a strong supporter of PBO all along. Knowing he is unlikely to win I still will vote for him in the Primary, but will vote for the Democratic candidate in the General no matter whom it is.
Me too DF. That’s why I’m sitting in my home with all sounds turned off. I want to savor every word, every nuance, every facial feature that was President Obama tonight.
:) I totally understand. I may just turn it on again and again and listen with my eyes shut and listen quietly…this is a history lesson and a roadmap forward to prosperity for all. I love this man. His heart, his mind, his person.
I love it at the beginning when Obama, in response to the people (republicans) clapping because he announced that he will have a short speech, said “Because some of you are anxious to go back to Iowa.” Continuing with “I know, I’ve been there. I can even give you some tips when I shake hands.” Ha. Touché.
The echo of what President Obama said tonight will haunt every blathering GOP candidate who talks stupidly and blithely about carpet bombing or hating those who are not white and Christian. He called them out and showed them for the narrow minded bigots they are. He didn’t call them names-he just made it clear that they make American small, not great.
Just before the SOTU, I heard from our dear friend Hélène from Paris and she and I messaged back and forth about the speech! It was great being in touch with her on this special evening!
I love our President. I loved it when he stopped and took a look and said, ” Let me take a last look at this place.” And he did that. It was a moment to behold. HZ
I saw that. Reminds me of that moment when he took a second to look back at the crowd before leaving at the end of the 2nd inauguration. I love both moments. I Love My President!
Thanks, Dudette. I did not know how to bring this over. These moments show us how beautiful his heart is for all the love that he receives from the people who worked so hard to make these moments happen. That is one of the many reasons why I love him; he does not take us for granted or his blessings as our President.HZ
Well, I was pretty steady all through the speech, but this brought the tears. Thank God I am alive in the Age of Obama, and that I am a decent enough human being to appreciate the great man that he is. I truly feel sorry for the people who have wasted these past years steeped in hatred.
C-Span rules!
Congrats Obama Grandmama!
My feet just touched the ground after watching President Obama’s amazing SOTU. And isn’t FLOTUS simply beautiful. Just WOW!
what a memorable night!
YuP
Tell it like it is PBO.
Yes! PBO on a roll!
It’s the Right Thing To Do
Close Gitmo
Yes indeed! We absolutely need a President who possesses a “deep understanding” of “the complexity of the world we’re in.”
That kind of leadership depends on America leading by example!
loving this speech!!!
Good quote from Pope Francis!
taking pot shots at islamophobes like donald dreck, ted crud.
We the People
We the people means all the people not some!
He’s getting emotional now…my President..
i Just want to take his State of the Union address line by line and tweet it out , line by line. EVERYTHING he is saying is truth to power
fix our politics.
love this president. Intelligence, grace, and beauty.
There is that clerk Mike Huckabee championed.
Uggggh! they showed her
our public life withers when only the most extreme voices are heard.
Cooperation…It should not be my task to do it alone.
TRUTH INDEED!
Paul Ryan is that kid in class all the others couldn’t stand! Look at that superior smirk.
Carolyn, I was just thinking the same thing.HZ
Carolyn, Ryan is without class or grace. I put my hand up so I could blot out his face and focus on PBO and Biden. Ryan is just too small in spirit and gravitas to be speaker. Even Boehner was more gracious.
takes a potshot at gerrymandering, which is a trap for pols.
It’s the worst kept secret in Washington
We have to change our system
need make it easier to VOTE Preach it
Who is the man behind Michelle?
A government by and of the people
Do not give up. Keep trying! I needed to hear that again.
YOU ARE SO LOVED MR. PRESIDENT AND WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE YOU!
Calling the murkans to change the way how people elected and not who gets elected.
Somebody somewhere stood up for us
Amen brother, amen!
warning against the fascism spouted by the kkklowns,
Like his analogy of being there with us as a citizen.
I am one of those voices Mr President - Yes I AM
Tears are coming… HOPE eternal. YES!
I cried when he walked in knowing this was his last time. I am so bummed :( :(
He’s swinging for the fence and is making contact.
YES, YES, YES!!!
I believe in change because I believe in you.
PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
Now comes the bat shit parsing and analyzing.
After C-SPAN’s finished covering POTUS leaving the chamber (great audio of this!), I’m off to the Hallmark Channel before ol’ Gov. Haley comes on. :)
I really could care less abt her.
I left right after POTUS. No Gov. Haley for me nor in my TV.
Listening to the first part tells me she didn’t listen to the speech.
Turn.Them.Off :)
Roger that.
I refuse to insult my ears with any of that trash! What a great speech.
I choose to continue to bask in the words of our President. I do not want to tarnish the glow I am feeling with the rebuttal (which probably has nothing to do with what the President actually said) and the patter of the newstainers and pundits trying to create drama where there is none.

they have withered hearts and souls
The size of raisins at this point! I pity them.
Well said, J’OB!
Thanks, nath!
You are most welcome, Jacqueline O! I truly love your comments and your beautiful poetry.
I truly thank you so very much, nath!
That’s why I believe in you people. Now, go do your fucking job as a citizen and vote,
✊🏾 Yes!
He is magnificent! And what truths he spoke tonight! In fact, he covered the topics we’ve been discussing here.
Yes he is- magnificent.
I will not stick around to hear Nikki
Nor will I.
That’s it folks, he has shown the way how to do it. Now, it’s all up to you.
Thank you, Mr. President.
G’Night, TOD.
These last 5 minutes….brought.On.The.Waterworks.
Good for her.
Yep.
Bravo, Hillary. You needed to do this tonight and you came through!
I saw Bernie Sanders in the audience.
There’s the difference between her and Bernie, who continually disses the incredible accomplishments of our President.
This weak tea is all he bothered to say.
When I saw him in the audience, he didn’t look too engaged.
Now, THAT was a State of the Union speech. The State of the Union is strong, as long as President Obama is at the helm!!!!!!
And he jammed a turd in Trump’s mouth too.
Trump who? Ha!!!!!!!!!!! Trump’s crying tonight, because he’ll never have “IT.”.
Touche’.
Yes indeed!
wh.gov has a program still going. VP Biden is speaking in a video recorded just before he went up to the hill for the SOTU. It is good. VPB is amazing! <3
I am listening again.

Kate, your husband along with other loved ones we’ve lost were the angels giving PBO the strength tonight 😇
Agree, GGail. Everyone we have loved was with us tonight.
:) :)

I like him too. Hope he’s on short list for a VP bid.
I am with you, Obama Grandmama! I too like Martin O’Malley! Sadly, he is not doing well in the polls.
PBO you are so wise and you are so compassionate. i love you.
TOMORROW….I DON’T WANT TO LISTEN TO IT EITHER..AND NIKKI HAS JUST BEGUN…BEFORE I SAY THINGS I’LL REGRET AS A WOMAN…ADIOS!
I like it much that Paul Lying Ryan introduced POTUS, a post Ryan knows deep inside he will never hold.
Damn! He makes me proud. I want to hold onto this feeling forever.
Me too DF. That’s why I’m sitting in my home with all sounds turned off. I want to savor every word, every nuance, every facial feature that was President Obama tonight.

Remember this, borrowed early on by the President from the Hopi elders:
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
I love it at the beginning when Obama, in response to the people (republicans) clapping because he announced that he will have a short speech, said “Because some of you are anxious to go back to Iowa.” Continuing with “I know, I’ve been there. I can even give you some tips when I shake hands.” Ha. Touché.

I’m not listening to any response or the pundits running their mouth. I heard what I wanted to hear the President.
This!!!
FLOTUS look so lovely.
GE annieb.
WOW, what a speech, what a man. He always includes us and he always gives us hope.
RESPECT. EMPOWER. INCLUDE.
Just before the SOTU, I heard from our dear friend Hélène from Paris and she and I messaged back and forth about the speech! It was great being in touch with her on this special evening!
omg, I still have the post card she sent me during the primaries :) hello Helene from Sheri :)
I still have my postcards, too! Used to ask her to write them in French, which she did.
she was a lovely person, so glad you heard from her.
She’s still the same lovely person! She was with us all the way, remember?
yes I do, I really liked her too.
“Helene with an ‘H”, like in Barack”!! I have missed her, give her my love if you speak again, we have lost touch. <3
I will certainly give her your love!
OMFG! I struck a nerve with Ron Fucking Fournier!
Little piece of termite shit… Honestly, what has he EVER been right about?
I love our President. I loved it when he stopped and took a look and said, ” Let me take a last look at this place.” And he did that. It was a moment to behold. HZ

The Obama-RBG hugs, in order. 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016 …
How wonderful!
Night all.Just need to roll this around in my head for awhile.
A wonderful speech. A full display of the intelligence, good humor, compassion and vision of the greatest President of my (very long) lifetime.
The transcript!!!! Yes!!!!!!!
what’s with the obsession of the thugs with indian rebutters? :)
Once again I feel uplifted. We are present to this wonderful man to bear witness to his greatness and goodness. It is a privilege.
New post.

This is the tweet from someone who realizes, for once, the pundits are not talking about him and that he is not the center of attention.
Ouch that hurt Donald “the racists” Trump. You sorry piece of crap.
Says he who will never get to do one except for on Saturday Night Live possibly.
I can’t stop my tears. This is just so emotional.
