It’s another manufactured talking point. You name me any politician that hasn’t got speaking fees once they leaved office. Don’t all these pundits get paid when they go on TV. This is why I don’t like Bernie Sanders. He’s encourages misinformation.

“When you got one of the biggest guns in the world, you can’t just pop in a new magazine and start firing again. Well, you can but the new ‘magazine’ for the GAU-8 Avenger is so ginormous it needs to be trucked in and requires multiple Air Force guys to get the gun reloaded. It takes time to get giant bullets on board! Here’s the interesting process on how the largest combat jet gun gets reloaded.”

just when you are beginning to forget that this is “silly season” in politics, you hear stuff that some people are saying (probably out of panic about the prospects of their favored candidate) ………….. and then you stop and recall what time it is on the campaign trail ;
“While fishing off the coast of San Diego on Thursday, two fisherman had a terrifying encounter with a lively pod of killer whales. According to the clip’s YouTube description, the two fishermen were about five miles off Point Loma when they first noticed some animals beneath their boat. It wasn’t until the orcas were very close that they realized exactly what they were dealing with. Once the men noticed that the animals were orcas, they took off in their 20-foot fishing boat, which easily could have been flipped by the whales. The fishermen say in the video description that the pod consisted of approximately 30 whales, although only a few can be seen in the clip:
Terrifying video shows a pod of killer whales chasing a fishing boat https://t.co/OOFXfuMQyI https://t.co/ThveZF8CZk pic.twitter.com/0Ad3qxiv0F
— The Lovely Plains (@DaRiverZkind) February 6, 2025
The whales chased the boat and continued to jumped out of the water as it sped off; a few times the whales even came just a few feet from the boat. Fortunately, the whales did not attempt to flip the boat, and the men made it back to land safely. Orca whales, which are actually from the dolphin family, travel and hunt in pods which can consist of up to thirty whales. Despite their name, killer whales rarely attack humans, especially in the wild.”
So I read one comment from a Bernie supporter who talked about how POTUS let the Progressives down, one reason she used were him using drones. And my answer back to her is I was not let down by POTUS, and if he was using drones it was to keep Americans safe, to keep those terrorists from hitting us, hit them before they hit us. I told them that Bernie does not get my support by attacking President Obama record, this President have brought this country back from the edge, and he did it without any help from the GOP.
I have blocked several of the worst Bernie supporters on twitter, one who I think used to write on here “Ron”? He was saying terrible things about Hillary yet purported to love PBO. I don’t get it.
I Would have been in Cloud 9, Happy beyond believe, should Pres Obama actively challenged the the law by Congress that denies any POTUS a third time. With the current Roberts’ Court and their pretentious Federalist……meaning, ORIGINAL Intent by the Founding Farther, this would not be struck down. It would also DRIVE RWNJS and some EmoProgs Bonkers! A Win, Win!
The 3 Branches of Fed Gov’t are to be equal. Therefore, their electability (years in office) ‘Continuum’ must be the same.
Sorry, Nena, it’s not “the law by Congress that denies any POTUS a third” term! It’s the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified February 27, 1951, which explicitly says: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice….” The Supreme Court may give an interpretation of the meaning of any Constitutional Amendment, but it CAN NOT STRIKE DOWN A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT. It requires a new Constitutional Amendment to repeal the 22nd Amendment in order for any person who has been “elected to the office of the President” twice to be able to run for a third term. In the entire history of the U.S., the only Constitutional Amendment that was repealed was the 18th Amendment-better known as the Prohibition Amendment-which had banned the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors….” The 18th Amendment, ratified in 1919, was repealed by 21st Amendment, ratified in 1933.
Prettyfoot, a big thanks for posting Propane Jane’s tweets! She is an unabashed TRUTH TELLER! I am so sick and tired of the “Unrealistic Expectations of the Far Left….” Let me also add that the far left, just like the conservative Democrats, have never been loyal to the Democratic Party. On the other hand, since 1960 no other faction that make up the Democratic Party has been more loyal to the party than the African American community. From 1960 to the President, the Black vote for the Democratic Presidential Candidates has ranged from 80%-96%. JFK, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, all lost the white vote, but they won massive numbers of the Black vote, which ensured them victory. Democratic candidates who lost the presidency (Hubert Humphey, Goege McGovern, Jimmy Carter for a second term, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore) all won more than 80% of the Black vote. But they were either abandoned by the far left whites (Humphrey, Carter, Mondale, Gore) or by the white conservative Democrats (McGovern, Carter, Dukakis).By any measure, the most loyal base of the Democratic Party since 1960 has been the African-American community.
White privilege and racism…shields this fact…and because the DEMs want to court that white racist vote…they do not embrace the truth…those that do embrace it ..only seem to embrace for political reasons…because they fail to deal with the systemic reasons for injustice and economic inequality…i have read numerous POV that what is driving white anger is the notion that their whiteness is no longer the bargain that they thought it was…that the inequality that the white folks face is causing mind numbing fear…but because of racism and white privilege the powers that be..deflect the blame from themselves to the other…namely folks of color…immigrants…etc…
to me this is why the fight against RACISM is central to struggle against inequality…something that Bernie and his cadre do not seem to understand..
I was reading (BJ) on an interview with Rachel Maddow & the difficulty of anyone - but perhaps specially a democrat - being elected after an 8 year term by their party. I would think is so very important for democrats to fight the GOP & not themselves.
The GOP have spent 8 years (with some early help from blue dog dems) attempting to stop PBO implementing his administrative plans. From closing down government, refusing to fund properly, breaking age old conventions, instituting voter ID and attempting to kill any organisation that might help “those people” - they have positioned themselves to say “We are the only party that can work with congress - we can get things done”.
To many folks, this seems like a valid statement. Happened in my world in 1975 - the best ever left wing government was defunded, attacked and then voted out because “instability”. And we didn’t have a race issue in that skirmish. We had conservatives - after 20 plus years of rule - upset because their “right to rule” was under threat so they used a senate majority to refuse to pass a budget. Never been done before or since.
What the GOP will do if they win the white house is mind boggling ghastly. This is the message that has to be made - and I don’t thing Bernie and his supporters can do that - but if they pick up the ball and go home without voting - they have given the election to the GOP. Happened in 2010, 2014 - can it happen in a Presidential election year?

Amazing story, in so many ways ….
“The public and private rhythms of the White House have shaped John Wrory Ficklin’s daily life from the day was born.
On Nov. 22, 1963, the day John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, Ficklin was 7 and playing at a neighbor’s house when his friend’s mother told him he needed to hurry home. At the time, his father, also named John, was the White House maitre d’ and very close to the center of the unfolding national tragedy. The next time Ficklin actually saw his father was on television three days later, in a rented morning suit, as the slain president’s coffin was carried into the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington for the funeral Mass.
The White House is a place defined by transients — presidents and political appointees who come and go after a term or two.
But Ficklin is a different, more enduring sort: He is the 10th member of his family — all children and grandchildren of a Virginia slave — to have worked in the White House, a long line that stretches back to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s administration. Ficklin’s uncle Charles got a job as a White House butler in 1939. His father, John Woodson Ficklin, joined the staff a year later and stayed for 43 years.”

I like the cartoon of all the campaign signs being swept away. Here in Iowa City, there’re still plenty of signs for each candidate out on lawns. In fact, we just saw our very first Carly sign today. And we saw a Bernie sign laying down in the mud, which was OK with us! And for over a year, the lady down the street has had a “Ted Cruz for President” bumper sticker. At least all the endless commercials are gone at last from our airwaves! :-)
as an alumni of The Ohio State University, I learned very early when I arrived in the US as a new student, who Jesse Owens is and the role he played against racism and hitler’s policies and actions.

Madeleine Albright and others - I’m a woman of Hillary’s approximate age. I paid attention during the civil rights era of the ’60s, which had a great impact on me, and lived through the women’s rights era of the ’70s. My mother’s generation of women couldn’t get jobs or even buy things or get credit under their own names, in many cases. Yes, I have stories, too, but I’ll spare ya.
I, too, wanted the same right “from day one” as men had, in my career and personal life, to make my own decisions. Sometimes it required me to push for opportunities to gain success. Most times, I found a way to earn them - I found a way to negotiate for some, and insist on others - sometimes we resist just by not giving up. Some of it was a struggle, even as a white woman, and not pleasant, but I also found ways, once I could, to help other women find their path. At least I tried.
So, yeah, don’t tell me women must vote for Hillary because she’s a woman. That didn’t work in ’08, although it was very, very hard not to vote for her in the primary - before I fully learned about candidate Barack Obama - just to break that glass ceiling for my generation. If she’s our nominee, I will vote for her. But don’t tell me I “must.” Women have minds of their own, just like men. We don’t vote as a group, either. And because he was more abusive than Trump - it seems he is winning the debate. GOP debates - you win if you rant and scream. Dem debates - Hillary is too loud. smh

She really, really annoyed me today because the last thing Hillary Clinton or ANY OTHER WOMAN needs is to be told the reason to support another woman is because they’re the same gender.
It’s as colossal an insult as any other version of - cuz you’re ________ then you must support whomever because they’re _________.
I have a lot of respect for Ambassador Albright but she put a dent in it, today.
Respectfully @madeleine
ALL the women I know who support #HRC support @POTUS
In neither case because of gender, but because of POLICY
Every time I watch GOP debates I worry about them getting back into the Presidency. They think this is a bad time under Obama and we need to go back to where they took us. That scares me big time.
Anyone notice whenever Obama’s name is mentioned Marco repeats the same talking point that he knows what he is doing and that he is purposely taking us in a different direction. I say YES! I certainly prefer going in Obama’s direction. It is becoming noticible and comical that Rubio keeps using the same phrase over and over.

Hillary campaign - Knock it off. Earn the presidency through words and deeds and platforms and expectations. You cheapen hard-fought-for women’s rights by doing it any other way. #NoTears is not just an old shampoo hashtag. Earn it!
Thank you for your thoughts, JO’B. My idea of feminism is freedom for all women to pursue their potential to the fullest, to speak their own minds. That doesn’t include intimidation or shaming from other women.
ALSO, this whole business of fighting about who’s more progressive or more liberal-than-thou sounds like what white people did in the 70s. It’s just plain stupid for the Democratic Party to be mired in this BS. Sanders is such a one-note samba, it’s unbelievable.
I hope the campaigns of both these candidates get back on track and stick to substantive issues. We have to fight off any gains the RWNJs are making and the sooner we focus on what matters to ordinary Americans, the better.
I’ll just add: Amen. Totally agree. Thanks.
Thanks, sistah.

I hope this is true:
GE everyone, wonderful toons Lovelyplains.
GE TODville.
This is the first primary, and already the GOP are losing it.
Most bizarre entrance ever.
Ben Carson and Donald Trump stayed offstage, and announcers “forgot” John Kasich.
Very odd — have to admit Fox News graphics and intros were much smoother.
Apparently Carson didn’t hear his name - then they called Cruz - who of course flattened Carson in the rush on stage.
I just tried to access the abc live stream. took forever (I’m watching without sound) & what I see for 5 minutes
“viewer discretion advised during live screening coverage” - sure suits a GOP debate
Than I saw the question about “temperament” - the GOP doesn’t need policies - they run the country based on temperament.
That was so funny when they didn’t hear their names or know when to go on stage. And, yet, they think they can run “big gubmint.”
How true jacqueline - and they are asked nothing about running government - Trump admits he doesn’t even know about GOTV - I live in Australia and I know that - shame I’m not eligible to be President. Then again, Ted Cruz thinks he is - so maybe me :)
Ha! Yes, maybe you. :)
Since I’m all thumbs in posting toons, here’s more on GOP debate, LOL:
Still more…
Berniebots, are you paying attention?
Mike Memoli is NOT kidding. Will attempt to tweet.
:D :D
Too funny. Can’t wait to see all 50 state lapel pins on Christie’s jacket.
LOL.
Literally glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I read your comment! (Otherwise my keyboard would be history).
Can you imagine???
I can imagine! :)
And because he was more abusive than Trump - it seems he is winning the debate. GOP debates - you win if you rant and scream. Dem debates - Hillary is too loud. smh
New Hampshire can keep Chris Christie! Sorry New Hampshire!
Keeping track of this little cutie:
Very very special!!! Thank you meta :)
Sooner or later, his wish will come true.
YUP :)
Hey Meta & Bob I added some links to this awesome story:

“I wear this plastic bag shirt for Messi. I would like to meet him. I love him so much,” he said to Voice of America.
“I want my son to bring pride to the country and play in the international football matches one day,” said Murtaza’s father, Mohammed Arif Ahmadi to Al Jazeera.
Sweet!!
I felt dented, too, Bob. Well done.
Very much regret that you and all women had to withstand a needless, stupid hit, Jacqueline.
Good night TOD ….
Thank you, Bob, on behalf of all women!
Bob, you are such a master at using few words to go to heart the heart of the TRUTH!
Every time I watch GOP debates I worry about them getting back into the Presidency. They think this is a bad time under Obama and we need to go back to where they took us. That scares me big time.
Let’s add some cuteness tonight.
Isn’t that the truth! Way to go BWD.
The same could be said for some democrats.
BWD is telling the TRUTH! I think “ENVY” drives the hatred, from both the right and the left, directed at President Obama.

Absolutely.
