Thank you LP! This may be what I’ve been looking for for my friend! She mentioned wanting to mentor girls. She lives in the Bay area and Los Angeles also. She is a corporate executive, amazing yoga teacher, fantastic mom and loves PBO. I’ve been trying to look for info for her on mentoring opportunities and hoping to find something connected to PBO/FLOTUS like a My Brother’s Keeper, but for girls.

If anyone knows of anything else she can look into, let me know! Thanks!

Wow! I can’t believe I was just brought to tears (the names) and inspired by an HRC speech! She really has found her stride this time around. I think she learned a lot from PBO and her time as SOS and maybe some other things we don’t know about. It’s like she’s being herself now, not someone she thinks people want her to be. I bet she had some long talks with PBO.

I am so glad Hillary Clinton won big in South Carolina. The “holier than thou purity progressives,” aided and enabled by the corporate media, always portray themselves as the base of the Democratic Party. Nevada and South Carolina set the record straight as to who constitutes the most dependable base of the Democratic Party.

        February 27, 2025 at 11:27 pm

Indeed, J’OB! Black folks in my age group are some of the most dependable voters. We remember all the blood, sweat and tears that our ancestors- and our peers, like CongressmanJohn Lewis- expended to make it possible for us to vote. HRC was not my first choice because I wanted our VP Biden to be the next POTUS and build on what he and President Obama accomplished in the past seven years. But HRC is growing on me now that she is no longer running against President Obama.

        • 63 jacquelineoboomer
          February 27, 2025 at 11:36 pm

The members of the “dependable voter” group you mention are some of the most admirable among all voters! Love seeing and hearing some of the younger black voters talking about how their “grandmothers and mothers” have reminded them to honor and uphold their right to vote, and keep the tradition going. Very heartwarming, and they all play such an important role in our country. And - luckily - so many of ’em are nice patriotic DEMOCRATS! Yes.We.Can.

Not sure he was thinking much about the black voters. Maybe took them a little bit for granted? And wanted to ‘win back’ the white voters. Maybe he thought that the ‘purity left’ was the real Democratic base, and with a little more white garnish he would have enough.

Super Tuesday in the 2016 presidential election will be on March 1, 2016. This date has been dubbed the SEC Primary, since many of the participating states are represented in the U.S. Southeastern Conference for college athletics (seven southern states).[10][11]

The participating states include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado (with caucuses), Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota (with caucuses), Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. Republican caucuses are being held in Alaska and Wyoming.[11][12] One participating territory is American Samoa with its Democratic caucuses.[13]

Both Republicans and Democrats have a lot of delegates at stake. The Republican candidates can win about half of the 1,237 delegates needed. The two remaining Democrats are after 880 delegates, roughly one-third of those needed to win. The number of delegates from Texas is much greater than the other states: 155 for Republicans and 252 for Democrats.

This ties into Clinton speech tonight where she mentions Corinthians

Hunt came to the yellow-walled bakery to enjoy a sweet treat while he studied the Bible, unaware — he said after — that a presidential candidate was about to visit. His quiet reflection was abruptly turned upside down when around 20 press and campaign staff rolled into the bakery with Clinton. “We are heading out of town and we were told to stop by and get some good stuff to take with us,” Clinton said as she walked through the door, flanked by dozens of cupcakes and cakes. After chatting with the bakery’s staff and picking out some cupcakes for the road, the presidential candidate sidled up to Hunt and asked him what he was studying.

    https://twitter.com/rubycramer/status/703747554442416128https://twitter.com/rubycramer/status/703747554442416128

“Corinthians 13,” Hunt said calmly, almost nonplussed by the candidate. “Oh I know it well,” Clinton said. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud,” the passage says. Clinton told Hunt about her religious history and commended him for his continued study. “You’re doing what is the most important thing to do, it’s continuing to study and learn what the scripture says and what it means,” she said. “I have a preacher friend who sends me scripture and devotionals, sometimes mini-sermons every day.”Hunt told Clinton that you “always learn something when you read it again and inspect it.” “Well, it’s alive,” Clinton said. “It’s the living word….continued”

      from the essay:

At stake in this election is control of a Tea Party-run Congress, at least one Supreme Court vacancy that could tip the balance for a generation, and the very real chance that a highly unstable demagogue could become the 45th president of the United States. So while I may not have imagined myself saying this a few years ago, I certainly believe it now: It’s far more important to elect Hillary Clinton in 2016 than it was to elect Barack Obama in 2008.
      ****************

      I understand the stakes…

But we would not be here without the Presidency of Barack Obama…

America has become a combo of the good the bad and the ugly….but the Presidency of Barack Obama has shown us that we are not at the mercy of the forces that seek to enslave us…that we have the power to defeat them if we just come together…

Very insightful and respectful article by Jon. His writings have always inspired me. He speaks his truths in his writings. His love, admiration, and respect for POB has and always will be so wonderful; so this article is respected by me. I know that Jon is a brilliant writer and an observer of a brilliant man, PBO. And his respect for POB is held in the highest esteem.
His respect for Hillary shows also how much respect and forward thinking Jon has for PBO. He has stated often that PBO is a brilliant mind, and that he would do anything for him. I love Jon like a son, and know of several of his friends who spent many hours with him to encourage him in keeping those long hours of hard work for our president.HZ

What kind of person heckles another about the death of their precious child?

VP Biden is a very decent person indeed for not jumping of the stage and personally confronting that person.

this incident reminded me of something that happened in my family.

a day after our family buried one of my sisters, a person came into our home and told my devastated grieving parents that : “it is good that your child died”.

before my father or any of the other mourners could react, my mother sprung into action and beat this person to a pulp.

people tried to intervene but she just tossed them off her - she was like a wounded lion.

luckily for this person, our home is near a police station and about 5 officers had to hold her off.

    heckler was hospitalized for many months;

I doubt that I would have VP Biden’s restraint
