Yes, thanks Nerdy. I’ve been searching for several hours for a link of some sort, as I don’t do texting. Much appreciated that I can do a little something to help these people.
Chris Rock was tremendous tonight at Oscars. I watched parts of it. As a survivor myself of priest sex abuse as a young adolescent, I am glad that Spotlight won the Oscar for best picture.
I agree. I also loved Lady Gaga, cried actually; loved Leo’s call for climate change; loved the winning director Alejandro G. Iñarritu, thanking so many for the diversity in Revenant. Loved Chris Rock.
So sorry to hear you experienced that, Bill, but I agree you are a survivor, and a role model for us all in moving forward and taking back control of your life - not a small challenge. All the best to you, sir.
Thanks for your bravery, Bill R. Spotlight and Concussion were my two favorite movies this year. Both difficult stories that powerful interests tried to hide. Kudos to Chris Rock for hosting the Oscars in a fraught year and to Ava Duvernay and others for shining a spotlight on the Flint crisis and putting $ where needed..
Thank you for the kind and affirming comments, friends. At my age of 67 over time it is a great grace to have been able to transform suffering into strength and to transform pain into healing. None of us can avoid the injuries of soul and psyche in life. But we can all learn to let our wounds become strength. Great souls like Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, and others teach us that truth. In my healing, I learned to be a wounded healer to others as a mental health therapist for over thirty years, and to be a spiritual director to other souls seeking healing.
This is a NYT A1 chief political writer….ex Politico hack, married to producer of Meet The Press, and thinks this behavior is still better than “Obamabots” GTFOH
The Rubio amen corner on right has been dino-sized as he descends in gutter w Trump. Nearing Obamabot territory, @BuzzFeedBen !
He dead serious, JB. A former National Review, GOPolitico hack is what the New York Times hires as their objective political reporter. (They currently employ 3 GOPolitco frauds for national/White House coverage)
jonathan martin is the guy who brought flowers to cindy mccain in the heat of a presidential campaign, gets busted for it, and then gets promoted up “the news” food chain. and people still argue with me that it’s about “ratings” and advertising dollars and such…no, it’s now all about promoting republican lies to the electorate:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/09/mccains-daughter-goes-beh_n_90647.html
I don’t know who is worse between him and Ron Fournier, while at the Associated Press was concocting how to spin the Pat Tillman cover up with Karl Rove, and wanted to work for McCain campaign in 2007. http://mediamatters.org/research/2008/07/22/the-ap-has-a-ron-fournier-problem/144113
i say fournier is worse. jonathan martin is a simple tool and who doesn’t quite understand the overall game he’s in but gets off on “the access” he gets, while ron fournier i think is very aware of what he’s doing, and smart about it, as he promotes republican talking points every single day.
okay. so i think “do the right thing” and “malcolm x” are two of the greatest films ever made, but i was so disappointed to see spike lee’s video clip during the oscars where he said (paraphrasing) “it’s easier to become the president than it is to become the head of a hollywood studio as a black man!” WTF!!!!! the cornel westian-wing of liberalism is so blinded by jealousy of barack and michelle obama, who have brought tangible good to millions upon millions of americans and people across the globe, that they are now completely in looney land.
it is sad, since i always think about how much issues could be improved if people such as spike lee could get past their egos and spend their energy supporting what someone like president abeam accomplishes every day of his life, instead of constantly dismissing the work of the obamas. ironically, chuck d of public enemy, who is the rapper of “fight the power” (maybe the most important hip-hip song ever) which is the main song of spike’s “do the right thing” and was even the main song used in the credits of the oscars tonight, vocally supports the approach of the obama first family:

“So for six years, Obama couldn’t transmit those passes to us. He couldn’t say, ‘Well, I’m going to look out for Black folks.’ We all knew he couldn’t say that sh**. So when I would hear Black people say, ‘Oh, how come President Obama can’t help us more?’ they just didn’t understand the politics of the country they live in. This is the United States of America. People at times give this country way too much credit. You have to read between the lines when you are talking about the U.S. government. You will have problems here if you don’t know the history of this country. Your kids are going to have problems. You got to reach and teach, and not only teach the kids. I’m talking about everybody.”
by the way, you are one of my heroes, judith, for all the tangible, real world work you do for advancing the cause, and i strive to follow your lead constantly. thank you.
i try my best not to respond to some of these black folks who speak out against the President..i know that the press gives them a mic to try to tear down the President…but everyday blk folks will always have the PBOs back…they will NOT speak ill of him…he is like fam like someone said…we will always embrace the Obama Family..we just will…
This is how I feel and I am not African American. I will stand up for him no matter where I am because he is a truly wonderful president, man and spirit. I don’t envy those who can’t see this now when he is in office. They are missing out and will discover much of this truth later. Thanks to everyone here that posts and our fearless blog tyrants and hostess. This is a wonderful place to bask in the wonder of our President.
“Envy” is indeed a very “deadly sin.” If it was that easy for a Black man to become President of the United States, what’s preventing Spike Lee or Cornel West from running for President? If it was so easy for a black man to become president, how come it wasn’t so easy for Jesse Jackson, Alan Keys, Herman Cain and now Dr. Ben Carson, to become President? Frankly, I am sick of these black men who are so envious of President Obama, mainly because they thought they were such a big deal until a brilliant black man appeared on the scene and attained what was considered impossible.
i think that it is a combo of a few things…first…not understanding the tremendous skill and talent of our President to do what he did…the amt of work that it took…..not just once but twice…2ndly..a belittling of the process….because a BLK man did it….
belittling the accomplishments of the President …because if a blk man can do it…surely a white person can do it better…because after all he is ummm blk…
Maybe this is the key. Self hatred on the part of someone like Cornel West. If President Obama could do it as a black man then it must be easy peasy. Self hatred is worse, in some ways than other hatred.
I think that President Obama, who he is, what he has done to redefining leadership, giving voice to others, showing us how to win the right way and love our democracy for its potential and our national community in all its diversity, is part of the glory.
Finally he’s on stage! VP Joe is getting a standing O!
He’s adorable! And such a worthy reason to be there, to introduce that topic.
I’m so proud of the work he’s doing, JOB! You could see it in SLOTUS’ eyes too! It was a terrific moment!
Anything they are connected with is top-notch - and usually heartwarming.
Top Notch - Absolutely!
VP Joe speaking on the Oscar’s about sexual assault. Been switching back and forth. Glad I caught it.
Well said, Dudette!
Thanks JOB!
Okay, I didn’t wanna swoon, but COME ON!
Thanks for posting the online link for donations, Nerdy, vice the tweet route. Appreciate it.
You’re welcome, Ms. J’OB. :)
Yes, thanks Nerdy. I’ve been searching for several hours for a link of some sort, as I don’t do texting. Much appreciated that I can do a little something to help these people.

Looks like VP Biden has a new twitter account:

I’m very happy this movie was made, especially for survivors like you Bill, and that it won the Oscar.

Blessed to have you among us Bill…Continued Blessings to you

Is he kidding????

The NYT used to be the paper of record. I wouldn’t give you 10 cents for a copy, at this point!
AMENNNNNN

clear as day.

Jeff Flake signed that letter. He’s not up there.
Is he up for reelection in Nov?
Ha! Didn’t see your post LP! :-D

AMEN

Just got home and wanted to let you know that I had the same reaction to that 4more! Glad to know I wasn’t the only one.
Rubio’s campaign is actually promoting this (this is their official youtube fee)…..this is Presidential material? Unbelievable!
Still the best Oscars musical performance in my lifetime:
This is a time that both issues have to be shouted from the rooftops…
I think that President Obama, who he is, what he has done to redefining leadership, giving voice to others, showing us how to win the right way and love our democracy for its potential and our national community in all its diversity, is part of the glory.
/|\ xs. a gazillion!!!
Its part of the glory for me and I want to say, thanks, and more please.
You can see her full performance at this link
and chuck d was paying attention tonight, of course…
MILLIONS ARE STARVING ALL OVER THE WORLD…AND THERE IS THIS…NO WONDER I DIDN’T WATCH THE OSCARS!
Thank you so much for including the link to donate on-line, Nerdy.
I, also, posted it on Facebook.
:)
