Let’s enjoy the last few months that President Obama is in office. Nothing will ever compare or be the same again in American politics. Every politician wants to be like him and they fail miserably.

    http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/why-women-bring-their-i-voted-stickers-susan-b-anthonys-grave-180958847/?no-ist

When Susan B. Anthony died in 1906 at age 86, her funeral overflowed with mourners. Despite the fact that there was a blizzard raging in Rochester, New York, thousands packed into the church service and over 10,000 others showed up to pass by her flag-draped coffin and pay their respects. Yesterday, over a century later, admirers of the suffrage icon came to her grave with a different kind of tribute—dozens of “I Voted” stickers.

    Hey TOD family –

I could sure use a good dose of good thoughts from my TOD family. My beloved yorkie, Pearl, is sick and it may be cancer or inflamed intestines. She’s at least 12 years old, she’s not eating, she’s half her weight. I’d do the expensive and somewhat dangerous endoscopy to nail things down, except…..

Mr. 57 was rear-ended on Tuesday and the car is probably totaled. It’s an old car, but it was the car we were going to keep, since the stick shift tin can is difficult to drive with Mr. 57’s no-cartillage knees and my severely arthritic shoulder. We were planning to work hard, save our pennies and buy a new car at the end of the year and give away the tin can. Now, everything is up for grabs.

And between the exorbitant vet bills and the car issue, I may have to work yet another full year for the sociopath without cutting back on hours.

    Sigh…….

My good thoughts are with you, 57F.

    • June 9, 2016 at 12:31 pm

Good morning, 57! Sending warm and loving thoughts, hugs, and prayers your way…

    • June 9, 2016 at 12:33 pm

{{{Hugs}}}, 57. So very sorry you are dealing with these things now. Life sure is hard sometimes ……… Difficult choices and tough decisions. Sometimes there seems to be no ‘good’ or right choice. Bless you! Stay strong and focused.

      June 9, 2016 at 12:41 pm

Sorry about Pearl and the accident. My goodness you are going through it! Cling to each other and love on each as much as you can. That’s the key to getting thru the tough times. Sending you all loving hugs and well wishes. 😘

      Hi 57

I have no real words of wisdom – I do know how much your yorkie means to you – tis not easy to see her suffer if you think there is a chance to help her. I do remember having to face financial reality years ago when I had to tell the vet – we have no more money to give you.

Given your comments from time to time about your boss – I’m rather glad the odds are zero to none that I shall ever come across him. And the car – I have about forgotten how to drive a stick shift – used to always say “real cars have a gear stick” until I discovered the joy of the auto. Do home Mr 57 suffered minimal harm in the accident.

The goods news – Trump is going to lose big – his loss will be yooooge – which doesn’t help your current decisions – but will be a massive help to the US.

So sorry 57. Your Yorkie is precious to you, and these decisions are difficult. Hope something good breaks for you soon. You are in all of our prayers and thoughts. Seems like things never come singly, but just all dump on us at the same time. We’re with you.

    20 delegates at stake 🙄

  28. June 9, 2016 at 12:50 pm

  29. June 9, 2016 at 12:50 pm

Back when Obama was dealing with Republicans over things like the federal budget, Bernie Sanders and many of his supporters saw this approach as weak and/or naive at best (“corporatist capitulation” at worst). But now, Sanders has reached out to the President as the negotiator who can help him continue the “conversation about the significant issues at stake in this election that matter most to America’s working families.” It will be interesting to see if someone like Bernie Sanders is more open to embracing common ground than the Republicans.

  30. June 9, 2016 at 12:54 pm

In other words, just as racism has been the fuel that ignites the post-policy positioning of Republicans over the last few years, it has been exploited for decades as a way to divide and conquer support for the progressive agenda.

While Ryan might appropriately denounce the overtly racist things Trump says, the policies he is in the midst of unveiling will continue to rely on the dog whistle racism of post-truth politics.

I have always been taught that Muslims when they die, are buried with 24hrs. The late King Jordan, he was kept alive, well on a respirator…so the tales went, until the Family could formally get him back to Jordan from The Mayo Clinic in MN. This was done to give them more time for a State Funeral.

Hey Dudette – I just came online & read on our news

US President Barack Obama has endorsed fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton for president “I’m with her. I am fired up, and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary” & I’m starting where I left on TOD to see when it was announced.

Bernie doesn’t understand how to behave in the losing situation – he seems to have much in common. Trump with all his family will probably want a tour of the White House before he concedes in November.

    Dangerous.

    http://thinkprogress.org/health/2016/06/08/3786082/planned-parenthood-leak-subpoena/

In March, the House investigation into Planned Parenthood took a dark turn, subpoenaing a list of names of doctors and researchers involved in fetal tissue research. At the time, Democrats on the committee likened it to a witch hunt.
Now, Democrats are calling out Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for her “reckless disregard” for the privacy and safety of those medical professionals — following the public, unredacted release of the some of their names.

“This Panel has shown a reckless disregard for protecting private information and now a troubling possibility has come to light,” Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky said in a press statement. “Inexplicably, anti-abortion activists have learned of confidential information provided to the Panel — raising the specter that the Republicans may be funneling confidential information back to those individuals and groups.”

Democrats on the committee have long warned that the investigation was ignoring important rules around privacy and putting doctors and researchers at risk — or, in the words of Rep. Jarrod Nadler (D-NY), “effectively painting targets on the backs of scientists and researchers for no particular reason other than the Republicans’ desire for a culture war.”

Now it appears that risk has become a reality.
