They bought policies through the ACA right away and were satisfied with it. Although the premiums had gone up, it was still cheaper than what theyâd been paying and they had no complaints. They voted for Trump. The nonplussed reporter asked her what she had thought would happen when he became president. The woman said she didnât think theyâd really do it because why would they want to take it away and hurt millions of people. The reporter told her about all the moves they were making to destroy it and the woman became very shaken. The reporter said when she left, the woman was looking really scared. So she heard, but ‘didnât think theyâd really do it”.

On the one hand, you can argue, as I have, that Melania was publicly displaying the usual Trump hypocrisy by reading out loud the Lordâs Prayer to appease fundamentalist evangelicals; but on the other hand, Frankie may be right that Melania is so “terrified” by the dysfunctional situation in her husbandâs White House, and she was was, genuinely, praying for some miraculous Divine Intervention to save her husbandâs increasingly doomed presidency.

You may be right on both counts, nath. Thereâs something not right about how she carries herself around Trump - she has that terrified look, for sure, as captured by the cameras (of course, I have no real knowledge), but if I were her, Iâd also be praying for Divine intervention for a whole host of reasons, including the bit about the doomed presidency. And some of us, obviously, are praying we donât have a doomed nation on our hands.

They are being reminded who their bosses are and what these bosses want. If your elected official has been bragging about getting rid of Obamacare the moment the ink dried on the bill, donât act surprised that they want to in fact get rid of the bill. There isnât a voter walking the streets of America that should be surprised that their representative is doing exactly what they said they were going to do. Voters were told the last eight years what the fucking score was when it came to Obamacare, so donât act all fucking surprised when your representative is actually doing what you sent him or her to Washington to do. I think probably a big proportion of people at these meetings are people who didnât vote for the Congress person in the first place, but I know are certainly having buyerâs remorse. And youâre right - anyone who was breathing on their own throughout the past year should have known and understood exactly what would happen. However, I was listening to the CBC where a reporter was being interviewed about interviewing people about their reaction to repealing the ACA. She talked to one one (in the south somewhere) who was head of a furniture factory her family had owned for generations. She and her husband had bought their own, very expensive, insurance for years, then couldnât afford it any more and had gone without insurance for a few years. They bought policies through the ACA right away and were satisfied with it. Although the premiums had gone up, it was still cheaper than what theyâd been paying and they had no complaints. They voted for Trump. The nonplussed reporter asked her what she had thought would happen when he became president. The woman said she didnât think theyâd really do it because why would they want to take it away and hurt millions of people. The reporter told her about all the moves they were making to destroy it and the woman became very shaken. The reporter said when she left, the woman was looking really scared. So she heard, but ‘didnât think theyâd really do it”.
