okay, so i have so enjoyed this Mitt fiasco, and our prez looks so dignified, cool, and poised, while Mitt is scrambling. It amazes me that so many of my mormon brethren are buying his goods.
It is surprising that so many Mormons are buying into it. He’s really not representing the church very well. He lies a lot. Despises the poor. Seems to value money over all else. Doesn’t portray any level of hopefulness at all. Ann seems to be the same. And the other sad thing is that a lot of the spokespersons for the church are not doing much better. Clearly, Dee, this isn’t representative of all Mormons, as you’ve said. Are you hearing any chatter?
Not today, very little over the last few days with the faux pas he has committed. The church leaders do not committ on politics, the higher general authorities have been instructed to not even contribute financially to any political campaigns, so as to remain nuetral. We do not discuss it in church, BUT we sure do talk about outside the chapel, we had a visity authority at a conference this weekend, and nothing was spoken, other than to be active in our communities and also vote.
This is actually a lot better than the Roman Catholic priests who have been inserting themselves into all sorts of political activities and even preaching politics from the pulpit. Good to know.
Dudette, heck I liked POTUS since 2004, when he gave that speech at the Democratic Convention. So Letterman is just joining the like Obamas club. POTUS and FLOTUS. :)
A palpably gloomy and openly frustrated mood has begun to creep into Mr. Romney’s campaign for president. Well practiced in the art of lurching from public relations crisis to public relations crisis, his team seemed to reach its limit as it digested a ubiquitous set of video clips that showed their boss candidly describing nearly half of the country’s population as government-dependent “victims,” and saying that he would “kick the ball down the road” on the biggest foreign policy challenge of the past few decades, the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
Grim-faced aides acknowledged that it was an unusually dark moment, made worse by the self-inflicted, seemingly avoidable nature of the wound. In low-volume, out-of-the-way conversations, they are now wondering whether victory is still possible and whether they are entering McCain-Palin ticket territory.
Lastly, I have never been first, (I was so close Chipsticks gave me a rocket, a few months back) I kinda hope I could get another great shot of Pres Obama and the family!
Can’t stay up so late to watch President Obama on Letterman, but will definitely watch it tomorrow on CBS (or probably here if Chip posts it).
Very fired up but wondering why the Gallup poll is so close with President Obama only up by 1%. Hope we are not letting Romney’s gaffes make us too complacent. Going to donate some more $$$ to help out.
here’s a link to a site that explains why rasmussen’s polls are suspect; next a link to the electoral map drawn without the rasmussen polls. gallup is still considered valid, but leans red, from what i can tell.
Ia.’s Steve King needs to go. Besides his constant birther nonsense and other outrageous statements—-every time he speaks, it’s utter crazy talk—-he said in a debate last night that President Obama does not respect the constitution, free enterprise, life and families. He was booed, but he needs to be more than booed. He needs to be gone. Donate if you can to Christie Vilsack’s campaign.
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/09/18/865711/steve-king-obama-families/
I guess he has never read “Audacity of Hope” and pres. Obama’s chapter on the constitution, page 84….”Our system of self-governance is an intricate affair; it is throught that system, and by respecting, that system, that we give shape to our values and shared commitments.”
What in the world?—-not linking the whole stinking story about Willard on FOX, but one of his preposterous statements was that the half of the electorate who support Obama are more European than American in outlook. Here’s the “other” argument again. Obama’s not American. Stoking the hate and divide. I cannot stand Mitt Romney gor one more minute.
O.K., that is it for me! I am through trying to pay attention to the right wingers. So, Obama, formerly the Kenyan/Indonesian/Black American communist, is now a European? Without a doubt, Mitt Romney, Donald Trump, and all the rest are seriously in need of urgent intervention therapy. This is no longer some thing to joke about. They’ve completely lost their minds. They are seriously suffering from the Obama derangement syndrome. Trying to engage them in serious political discussion is of no use. Even humor doesn’t seem to help.
Thanks for the video of FLOTUS on the Rachel Ray show , I enjoyed it, specially hearing her talk about the first dinner she cook for Barack, was it gumbo.
I have a lot of political reporters in my twitter feed and it drives me nuts that they smugly act like the warchest battle is what’s at stake, not what’s best for the country.
In the interest of “objectivity” they fail to mention how unspeakably awful Congress is. They fail to mention that it’s possible to have a function government.
Earlier today I saw something about the October surprise will be that R-money has no money.
With GOP and CW trashing him left and right, no wonder that everyone except for the corrupt will stop donoting to a lost cause.
He’s barely even campaigning at this stage; mostly just fundraising.
Pitiful state of affairs, which I hope drags the entire GOP House and Senate down with him in November.
Serves them right, and will allow the government to actually work again.
Can you imagine what PBO can accomplish with the wind at his back? Hallelujah.
This is not about him not having enough money, it’s about a cash flow problem between the primary dollars and GE dollars. He had used up his primary funds and needed to start working on the general but could not touch those funds until he was actually nominated. BUT apparently somehow you can take out a loan and then pay it back although you have to raise the funds separately. Seems another way the Mitt found to get around regulations. We know it’s the ONE thing he is good at.
Is this a joke? I thought RMoney was awash in money, having out raised the President, almost 2:1, for several months? Was the Romney campaign lying about how much money it raised in order to make Mitt seem invincible? Or has the campaign been spending the money recklessly? The question is, if Mitt can’t manage his campaign to make sure that it stays out of debt, how can we be sure that once he is elected President he will keep the nation’s budget out of red ink?
Here’s a couple of tweets from an Ohio progressive from yesterday:
“Subtle change in language from Prez in Ohio today. More reference to they. I think he’s going to close this thing with pitch for new Congress”
http://twitter.com/OhioCitizen/status/247783512327999488
“I think Obama is going to say, give me 4 more years and a new Congress and we can deliver on the promises we made to each other.”
http://twitter.com/OhioCitizen/status/247784086880542720
Wow. I was just thinking about this yesterday — about how it would be a matter of timing for the President’s campaign to push for a Democratic Congress. You can’t do it too early, for several reasons I’ve not wanted to say out loud, but coming down the home stretch is the perfect time to do it.
Exactly, PJ! Right now the President can’t appear to be taking his re-election for granted. But,as you said, in “the home stretch,” if the poll numbers look good, he can start saying that. Likewise, all Democratic members of Congress, if the President’s poll numbers continue to look stronger, can start pitching their tents with him; pledging to help him govern effectively on behalf of all the people.
Randy also wrote “Short People” that the King’s Singers did a version of. We loved it, love the King’s Singers. too. You can download the “I’m Dreaming” from Randy’s website. He encourages listeners to donate to the United Negro College Fund.
Bob, I know I’ve said this before, but I will say it again, you are truly a treasure. You, along with other fearless TOD members, have done so much in disseminating truthful information that would have otherwise gone unnoticed!
Couldnt use general election funds until after the official nomination. This is a non story, except that they’re taking a precious amount of time to pay it back.
Personally, I think we have more important issues to spend our time on.

pierce in his generosity, writes a speech for robmey:
‘ Got a little secret for you all. I don’t care if I win. I never did.
~
But, you know what happens the day after I lose to Obama? A whole bunch of you start typing your resumes, and writing your essays about how I fked the whole thing up six ways from Sunday, and Whither The Conservative Movement? and all that malarkey.
~
Me? You know what I do? I go to LaJolla…and I ride the car elevator up and I look at the sun go down over the Pacific. And then I do the same thing the next day. ‘
The Romneys will definitely enjoy La Jolla. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. It’s also home to some of the richest people in America. I know that because I live 25 minutes from La Jolla. The only discomfort the Romneys may experience is that a sizable part of La Jolla may not turn out to be quite as conservative as they are.
I lived in La Jolla for 5 years back in the ’70s and my former husband still does. Who, I found out during the bush years, is a republicon, I lived there when I knew nothing about politics but know for sure it never would have worked out with former husband. Brainwashed fox victim.

President Obama’s campaign blasted back Tuesday after Mitt Romney used an afternoon cable news appearance to highlight a newly released 1998 audio recording with the president, then a state senator in Illinois, saying he “actually believe[s] in redistribution.”
“The Romney campaign is so desperate to change the subject that they’ve gone back to the failed playbook co-authored by Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber,” said Obama campaign press secretary Ben LaBolt.
Romney repeatedly referenced audio, posted Tuesday to YouTube and linked prominently on the Drudge Report, during an appearance on Fox News.

BREAKING: Crossroads targets House races
We knew it was coming: American Crossroads, Karl Rove’s Super PAC, is going up with “tens of millions of dollars” of attacks aimed directly at Democratic House candidates.
Rove isn’t stupid. He sees Romney’s floundering campaign. Now, he’s shifting cash into House races so Republicans will still have one card to play against President Obama.
That’s why this is so important. President Obama needs a Democratic House to be able to make real progress in his second term. But the only way we can win the House is if we close this gap against the flood of right-wing Super PAC cash.
Donate $3 or whatever you can to fight back against Republican Super PACs and help win the House for Democrats >>
Boehner and Cantor’s Tea Party majority is the only thing in the way of President Obama’s agenda.

‘ At these times of declining revenue, we in the media need to stay true to our core interests. As the old saying goes, we should “vote the story.” And the better story in this election is clearly President Romney. ‘
if he were to be prez-sarcasm about how he is prone to stirring up trouble for the press to jump on. i know, it looks horrible in print like that! the article is basically challenging the press to get real about their coverage, using humor.
I still don’t like that they put those words on paper and then publish it out into the universe. They should have put quotes around the words “president” and “Romney”. That’s as close as he’ll get.
Wait, I refuse to watch the Romney video and I don’t actually like to hear the man talk at all, so I even when they show clips, I click the mute button. So I”m watching Lawrence O’Donell and he said something about Romney insulting Whoppi Goldberg, Letterman and Leno??? WTF?

This was so beautiful and moving. Did you all see the glow in Scotty’s smile as he was standing on the side? That is what POB does when his spirits takes wings and land at the doors of other like spirits and cause them to reach out and spread goodness, in this case it was young people and music.
I am in tears. This is such a beautiful gift of love..Let us keep Scotty and his business in our thoughts and prayers of love and a sweet spirit. I hope POB will see this video.HZ
President Obama took time out from a fundraiser Tuesday to praise his hosts, Beyonce and Jay-Z, at the 40/40 club in New York City.
“Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls,” he said, according to a pool report. He added that he and Jay-Z have a lot in common.
“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s okay.”
It was a more subdued speech than what some may have expected at such a glitzy affair, according to the pool report. Obama hit many of the same themes from his standard stump speech, saying he wanted to make sure that, “here in America, you can make it if you work hard.”
But he also added some new points, including about riding a fine line between confidence in his prospects and instilling urgency in such a close election.
“I don’t want people to be complacent, but I don’t want people to be discouraged,” he said. “We’re on the brink of an election, but more importantly , we’re on the brink of moving America in a direction where we’re going to be more just, more fair. The economy’s going to grow in a way that includes everbody, an America that’s respected around the world, because we’re putting forward our best values and our best ideals.”
He also made a rare, veiled reference to his being the first African-American president of the United States.
Sob, sob, whine… Tell those whiners to pull themselves together!
The Republicans are doing everything in their feeble attempts to relive the past! Our PBO will Go, Confront the Problem, Fight and WIN!
Bring On the debates! I know my President is not sweating about the debates. The only people sweating about the debates are the idiots in the corporate media who have been underestimating my President. All I am hoping for is that the debates won’t be a duplicate of what ABC did during the 2008 primary debates, in Philadelphia, PA, when the so called moderators joined Hillary Clinton in ganging up against candidate Obama. On the other hand, I am quite sure that President Obama learned a lesson from that experience and will be on guard should they attempt to pull the same BS!
Saw a title in Yahoo News on coming onto this blog tonight that said Obama’s poll numbers went down in foreign policy approvals. I didn’t click on it but figured it is due to the mob action around the world. I certainly hope Romney’s didn’t go up because that would be insane.
That actually doesn’t really matter. It might be interesting but it doesn’t matter. Those national polls is just the silly horse race on the media’s little the merry go round. POTUS is polling very strong in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin so he has more than 270 electoral votes covered if everyone votes who says they are going to. 4MoreObama!!!
Exactly, forus50. POB is doing his job, and if we continue to do our jobs, we can win this for POB and VPBiden. The president has his pollsters in the campaign, and believe me Plouffe, Jim, Stephanie, and Axe are watching them for that news that will bring us closer to the victory on Nov. 6, 2012.HZ
I know why Whoopi told Romney she could vote for him (Romney tape on LOD)———taxes! She thinks Willard would save her money on taxes. She has complained multiple times on The View about paying taxes. Not a very appealing thing to know about her. I cringed every time she said something, but to actually say she could vote for Romney because of it—-yikes! Not good.
Especially since she’s had fundraisers for PBO. Then again, who’s the messenger? I’d take Willard’s words with a grain of salt. Keep in mind, this wasn’t meant to go public.
Oh she did? Well, maybe it’s just me. I don’t watch The VIew - I see some taped highlights on the internet and the ones I’ve seen of her haven’t been impressive. I don’t know why I’m going on about her - I haven’t had a thought about her as much as I’ve spent time typing here!
I haven’t watch the View in 4 months. I finally got so tired of right wing nut. And Whoopi would not vote for Mitt Romney. She has hosted a fund raiser for POTUS.
She’s a weird bird. I have never been able to figure her out and her comedy career was short lived, when most comedians are in it even as seniors. More recently when she farted on the set (I think she lifted up a leg for it!) - not to be gross but that was bizarre. She seems like she’s got a chip on her shoulder about something and her interaction with POTUS seems oddly uncomfortable. Or maybe it’s just gas…:)
You know, amk posted a comparison calculator a few weeks ago that compared what you’d save between Romney and President Obama. The truth is, I would save three times more in taxes with Romney than with President Obama. But the rest of that truth is that I’d also be living in a place where less hungry kids got a good meal at school (sometimes the only one they get), a country that wasn’t investing in kids today in order to have a qualified workforce that was competitive in the future, a country with less teachers, firefighters and police who make a decent, livable wage. I’d be in a place that wasn’t growing and learning and thriving. And I’d be in a place where the gap between the rich and everyone else just continued to grow wider and wider. Those things make a society civilized, and I’d much rather pay taxes and see those things, than have a few more dollars in my pocket to buy baubles, and see the country going into decline. Because with that kind of disparity - eventually, the country falls into third world status and dies.
Mitt RMoney is a known liar. I bet he just wanted to be able to identify a famous person and a famous “diverse” person that claimed to be voting for him. If you listen to the tape, that whole segment was filled with uhs and awkward laughter. RMoney’s tell for when he’s lying.
This is the reason that some in the GOP hold out hope for their candidate because on this day 4 years ago Obama was losing to McCain. Personally I always thought that Obama would win and it was the Palin temporary bounce of insanity but nonetheless we have to act like we are behind again in 2012 and GOTV!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/18/1133649/-At-this-point-in-2008-Barack-Obama-was-losing-to-John-McCain
I am going to contact the FBI because a Presidential candidate Mitt Romney wants to plot with IRAN to harm Americans. I am suprised you all are not shaken by this clip about a terrorist plot.
No. That isn’t what Romney said. Watch the video again. Plotting something WITH Iran is entirely different than him saying he intended to take a political stance and try and capitalize on foreign events that might occur.
Michele, Lawry was just exaggerating. No one actually believes that fool was plotting to harm Americans. That Ass-Willard- was shooting off his fool mouth, trying to act as though he knows something about foreign policy when clearly he doesn’t. As to Lawry, he clearly despises Willard beyond all rationality so got all blood-thirsty about what Willard said. If you called the FBI over this, they wouldn’t even blink. This is not a chargeable offense. Lawry just allowed his hatred of and excitement over Willard’s incompetence to get the better of him. Willard was dumb for saying what he did, but obviously he’s not plotting with the Palestinians whom he feels are “crazy” and out to get his loverboy Nut ‘N Yahoo.
Now that’s what I call a President! He looks and sounds like a leader. And I agree with Dave…he does look good. I love how cool he his in the middle of all this craziness. Keep calm and carry on.
You can find all kinds of crazy on the internet. Probably 20% of American adults do not know who the current Vice President is. It’s not even worth reading let alone writing about it.
People were asking on an earlier thread about the guy running against Bachmann. It’s Jim Graves. If anyone would like to help Minnesota clean up a little toxic waste here’s the place to contribute.
Jim Graves is such a nice man. I sent him an email of support from New Zealand earlier this year in April, wishing him well with his campaign to defeat Michele Bachmann and I expressed how all countries downunder love this President. I was surprised a day later to see a personal email from him lol
This is what he said back to me:
… you are fine person and I thank you kindly for you words of support…..know that I appreciate your note immensely! Warmest regards, Jim. :-)
Oh! That’s so nice. We need good people like this in government. I’m in MN and it’s so embarrassing to have MB representing us. But the people in that district would vote for a pig if it had an “R” after it’s name. I think she may have gone too far, even for them though. Thanks NZ!
SO!!!!!!!!!!!! They criticized this President for everything anyway. So to be honest who gives a dam what the repukes say. Let me go back to watching Letterman now.
Absolutely! He knows he is the President of the United States. When a hurricane or a tornado devastates states that did not vote for him, President doesn’t sit around saying that he is not interested in “those people” who will never vote for him. He just goes about the business of helping people, as he did when tornados devastated communities is states like Alabama and Missouri. When President Obama rescued the Auto industry he did not sit around and try to figure how that would benefit states like TN that did not vote him.
Yes, President Obama exudes “confidence.” But he also exudes maturity, leadership and statesmanship! To be blunt, Mitt Romney exudes selfishness, pettiness, immaturity and political cowardice!
Obama says on Letterman that he immediately regretted the guns and religion comments 4 years ago. Brutally HONEST and HUMBLE. Mitt needs to take notes…but who am i kidding?
@Obamaboy. PBO may have regretted it but he certainly did tell the truth, and we who supported him recognized. As I’ve said, the rethugs have made his statement all the more prescient when one notices guns at rallies- not to mention increase in gun sales- and God used out of context.
I was just thinking, it’s a hood thing David Corn released that Video when he did.
That Stuff happening overseas was beginning to hurt the President, fair or not!
However, it also hurt Robney, as well.
Congress, can’t help itself, and will be having Hearings to determine what happened.
Will they be having hearings on Reagan, Clinton and Bush for Embassy attacks on their watch, as well?
Anyways, David Corn did us a favor… IMO!
What ho TOD Peeps. Here’s a “makes you smile” story. Los Angeles Chef and Border Grill Restauranter says her dream guest in her restaurant would be…. guess who? Interesting recipe at the link too.
Well Good night all. Letterman is gone off now. Enjoy watching and listening to POTUS. You can tell that David Letterman really like POTUS and FLOTUS. I thought POTUS might be in alittle trouble when he seem not to remember his and FLOTUS wedding anniversary, but he did remember. Actually he told how it was FLOTUS who forgot their first wedding anniversary. After POTUS kick Mitt’s lying behind, maybe POTUS and FLOTUS could go celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, October 3rd. Night all.
Beautiful appearance by PBO on Letterman, by all measures. He is a remarkable human being. Always so impressive with these interviews. Genuine, intelligent, calm, cool, confident. The Best. There is no other like him.
Great interview with PBO and Letterman. I did not expect it to be so long and detailed and that was a delightful treat.
So much substance and coherence from PBO’s great mind. Anyone who missed it, you have a treat waiting for you. Enjoy :-)
G’nite all. Sleep well.
You know Dudette, the comedians feel like they have no choice. The mainstream (I prefer corporate) media are totally useless. They are all about sensationalism and regurgitating right wing GOP propaganda. Smart comedians, like David Letterman, see through all the media BS! That’s why, in my humble opinion, they end up asking real questions instead of the GOP talking points questions that the president, and his Press Secretary, are routinely bombarded with by the so called WH press.
I have utmost respect for David Corn and what he has exposed.
That said, open questions remain:
When @DavidCornDC will you reveal #BainMitt's awareness of Chinese female salve labor http://t.co/wij6utpj that you reported he invested?
— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) September 19, 2025
As David and Mother Jones (MJ) released the ‘full video’ of #SmirknMitt’s dinner party it was obvious that portions that had previously been posted to YouTube were missing. In a previous thread, the issue was raised:
and another request for clarification via Twitter:
Remain concerned @DavidCornDC @Lawrence @maddow @hardball_chris about this missing portion http://t.co/giQPQDQ0 of the #47Percent video.
— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) September 18, 2025
Why is this an essential and consistent with the message conveyed in my comment yesterday evening?
We are dealing with a vastly wealthy, demonstrably evil (by any definition of the term) segment of the American population dedicated to plutocracy and maximum exploitation of every resource - people particularly - to expand their personal wealth and power. That’s the enemy we confront and if that video of #BainMitt and a few of his fellow plutocrats haven’t convinced you that that’s their agenda then it’s odd you are even at TOD reading this.
In any event, the message in the yesterday evening’s comment was about the vital importance of each of us being ‘the media,’ being the source of valid information for all our fellow citizens. When something is inconsistent in that information stream we must have the discipline and integrity to question it.
Why did such a crucial segment that apparently was part of the event at Leber’s mansion in May 2012, and one of the most featured segments on YouTube for months, of what was surreptitiously recorded at that event now absent from the ‘full video’ released by Mother Jones/David Corn?
That question must be answered.
My hope is that David Corn and his MJ colleagues, particularly since David reported in July on #BainMitt’s investments in that Chinese company, …
…. are now preparing to roll out an ‘expanded version,’ but, in any case, the inconsistencies between what has been, and remains, on the net in various YouTube accounts, and what was released today as the ‘full video,’ must be addressed.
Question for you, Bobfr (aka expert tweeter), how do you comment on a retweet? That is, I want to retweet something, but I want to make a comment on the tweet at the same time. Any way to do that? Or do you just copy the tweet and do it manually? Thanks in advance! :)
Rita, it is much easier to do if you use TweetDeck because when you select to RT a Tweet it gives you the option to either just send it or ‘edit’ it. If you select ‘edit’ then you can save as much of the original tweet as you want and add, between the RT and the @ address of the tweep who posted the original tweet, whatever comment you want to insert.
Otherwise, if you select ‘Reply’ using the Twitter app then you need to copy and paste whatever portion of the original tweet you want to include with your comment.
Other twitter-compatible applications may exist but I only used TweetDeck - for many reasons.
Wow Bob! It’s like a whole new world! I was totally overwhelmed with the volume of tweets rolling by. I’m using TweetDeck now and I can actually see when people retweet or send me a message. Oh it makes the experience 10x better. Thanks so much!

These are the truths we should be spreading around instead of what the effing pundtwits and the cable noise and rest of the dumb-down media are spewing.
As I watched this interview I kept thinking, “I’m so glad he is President.” He’s smart, thoughtful, elegant, patient, respectful of everyone in the world. He is the right man for the job and the right man for this time in our history.
RALEIGH – When first lady Michelle Obama visits North Carolina on Wednesday, she’ll work to get thousands of students at N.C. Central University and East Carolina University fired up about her husband’s re-election bid and to urge them to register their friends to vote.
Voter registration drives are hard work, with volunteers carrying clipboards to search for potential voters, who must fill out paper forms and sign them by hand.
Now the Obama campaign is taking voter registration to a new level of technological savvy bound to attract those just as comfortable with an iPhone as pen and paper. The campaign’s nationwide voter registration web site, http://www.GottaRegister.com, also permits people in North Carolina, 10 other states and the District of Columbia to sign their names to a registration form remotely using their smartphone or tablet.
The technology from a California-based company lets the applicant’s finger or stylus literally direct a mechanical pen at company offices that writes the person’s identical signature on the voter registration form. The completed form is then mailed automatically to the elections office in the applicant’s county for review.
The first forms arrived in county offices this week, according to the State Board of Elections.
The so-called “wet signature” technology is another method by which the Obama campaign and other groups are complementing traditional voter registration drives in North Carolina, particularly for young people. For example, more than 63,000 young people who preregistered to vote as early as 16 years old thanks to a state law taking effect in 2010 are eligible to vote this November, according to Democracy North Carolina.
The key to this article, Kids that are 16 years old can Vote? That just expanded the electorate for the President. If that is true, then I think we will win NC, on this new info alone!
Letterman probably has no opinion of Mitt - the GOP seems to think everyone hates them - when in fact it’s that people like Dave Letterman just “don’t give a damn”
So, now CNN is playing that clip of the President saying he wants to redistribute Government resources as a Weapon to prove what Robney said about the 47%, is true.
CNN is unbelievable.
I expect Morning Joe to follow suit, with this new audio, soon what Robney said will be the Presidents fault, according to the media.
The Republicans push a story, like no other.
Unbelievable! The old bait and switch, rescuing Robney. Man…!
TeaNN is not unbelievable. I would expect nothing more from them. They want to keep this race close, they are leaning right. So nothing TeaNN does surprises me.
President Obama will receive his daily briefing and meet with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before participating in a credentialing ceremony for 10 foreign ambassadors serving in Washington.
candid camera commentary- the more folks think about it, the more they realize how revealing it is, and how devastating:
‘ Was Romney abandoning the idea that his tax policies might help the economy generally, rather than just the tax filer, or does he simply thinks that “those people” are incapable of understanding any picture bigger than the mailbox in which they’re looking for their checks? ‘

Ann Romney needs to impersonate Cindy McCain & stand on the stage with her mouth shut. Did she really say this?
“…he [Mitt] was really talking about a much bigger problem of people becoming dependent on the government. She said that if corrective measures aren’t taken, then more people will become dependent on the government.
Corrective measures?? Do we starve people? take away their water? Let them wear rags? Just what are Ann’s corrective measures? Ah Maybe rub their faces in their food?
And still, she has no idea how badly her remarks are received.
Won’t work Ann. We already know what your husband and you think of people like us. We’re lazy, free loaders, bums, who want the Government to provide everything for us. And you and Mitt don’t give a dam about us, even though you claim to be a christian.
What exactly do they think the government is there for? Why don’t they want to use public funds to invest in public goods, like roads and bridges and new technologies and making the US more competitive? Why do they think it’s wrong that people pay into social programs and then expect to get what they paid for when they need it? Why do they think it’s only right if the dependent groups are the very rich and the corporations?
I have a pretty well educated friend who said to me very plainly one day that the government and country exist for the corporations, not the people. I couldn’t pick up my jaw from the floor for about ten minutes. She backed down when I called her a Republican.
Good morning Chips, what a week! The good , bad & the ugly….thanks for the tweet deckmention, I might look into that sometime soon. Thanks for posting the videos, pictures & info we all look forward to everyday.
// Massachusetts Democratic senate candidate Elizabeth Warren claims a lead in another post-convention poll, with a new survey out Wednesday showing her leading Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) by 5 points.
The poll, conducted by MassINC Polling Group on behalf of Boston-based radio station WBUR, shows Warren leading Brown among likely voters, 45 percent to 40 percent. Three other polls released this week also showed Warren moving ahead of Brown, after the Republican incumbent had seemingly asserted himself as the favorite in August. //
Good morning, Chips and TOD!
Enjoyed watching our calm, cool, confident President last night.
Have a great day! Off to donate and prepare to go to PA on Sat.
A beautiful day in NYC despite all the heavy wind and rain last night.
Their goes Chuck Todd, spinning his own poll.
Low Fireign policy marks and republicans are 9 points more enthused to go to the polls. He says, that enthusiasm could make up 1-3 points.
Wow! This Guy has some skin in the Game. Me thinks, young Chuck has been hanging out with Ed Henery far to long!
That is all.
Tell that to the 10,000 in the crowd who went to see the First Lady in Florida the other day. The main goal for the media folks like Chuck Todd is to try to keep the race close. Everyone I talk to is ready to go vote right now. As soon as we can early vote my family is planning to go, and I will get any neighbor to early vote also. Don’t believe everything these pundits say.
It amazes me that what we see here doesn’t jive with what they say on TV. Seriously, do they think anyone their right mind would think Romney is better than PBO? I keep asking that question hoping that someone could explain why. Is it just for ratings? I agree about the crowd comment. When has romney or ryan ever had a spontaneous crowd like the Obamas. Geeeeez!
For some, the only criteria they care about is which candidate is the white one. Everything else doesn’t matter. Not the damage that was done by the right wing, and not the damage they’ve promised to do and started doing at the state level. Not the fact that the GOP-controlled House has done zero to help the economy since they took over in 2010. Not the chaos that Romney has created globally with his few words of foreign policy - even before he was informed by daily national security briefings. (The fact that he’s getting them now scares me to no end). They don’t care who their candidate is - look at the losers they had to choose from, and they thought they were eminently qualified. They just want the white candidate.

If you're going to run any campaign at all about LGBT issues, please don't make the same mistake a lot of them do. Demi, Bi, Ace, and Pansexuals get erased from almost every single one, and it is very disheartening to see that your sexuality is not only erased, but discredited as if it never existed. I struggled to discover my identity for two years because I thought on transexuals, gays, and lesbians were around. Run a campaign that displays those, and you will help more people than you know.
No questions, lol. I just wanted to say thank you. I know it hasn't been easy to be so forthrightly supportive of the LGBT community. It's been politically risky. But you've transformed my life and the lives of so many other Gay people. Given us a complete future in our own country. And I'll never forget that. Thanks. *huuuugs*
What do you mean when you say you will "support" the effort? What steps will you actually be taking?

Whos here?
Where is everybody?
okay, so i have so enjoyed this Mitt fiasco, and our prez looks so dignified, cool, and poised, while Mitt is scrambling.
Sorry, Hopefruit, I was actually first, with all the fumbling on my kindlefire!
Congratulations dee…..
thanks!
LOL! dee, I’m giving you pass only because I’m just happy to see my President on Letterman tonight. :)
I think Dave really likes President Obama and FLOTUS.
My clue was the big sloppy wet kiss he planted on him. :-)
Just kidding, but you can definitely feel the love through the camera lens. It’s there everytime he or FLOTUS come on the show.
Well ChristiMTL, David is just joining the club. We love POTUS and FLOTUS too.
Nah, he’s liked him since at least 2008. I watched then-Senator Obama on that episode back then and Dave was positively overcome with a man-crush.
Remember the lipstick on the pig flareup? http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/18/coming-up-48/#comment-493106
Dudette, heck I liked POTUS since 2004, when he gave that speech at the Democratic Convention. So Letterman is just joining the like Obamas club. POTUS and FLOTUS. :)
Well I guess I will have a conversation with myself, Is there an accident out the window, that everyone is looking at, that I am missing?
Dee, there are 23 comments already, you’re not alone!! :-)
So do I get a picture?

I don’t underestimate the GOP vote-suppression and ballot rigging machine. It’s not over until it’s over.

What does the swing states polls say pkayden? Not Gallup.
Gallup has zero credibility. A bunch of right wing nonsense.
that’s right, they’ll only correct it now and then so they’re not totally seen as RW hacks…….but they are
I only look at the electoral map…..Gallup and Ramussen are the worst.
here’s a link to a site that explains why rasmussen’s polls are suspect; next a link to the electoral map drawn without the rasmussen polls. gallup is still considered valid, but leans red, from what i can tell.

Is Chris Vilsack related to the Secretary of Agriculture?
His wife.
Fantastic!
Yes. They are married.
Wife!
I’ve been watching politics since the ’60’s , and I have never seen anyone shoot themselves in the foot, go “woops upside their head”, like this!
I’m here!!
President Obama is here in NYC and I totally forgot! I wanted to swing by the 40/40 Club to see if I could sneak a peek. Ah well…maybe next time.
My fave President is in my fave city. I love President Obama and I love NYC!
Woo Hoo! :)
How is the weather there gobrooklyn?
Rainy and moderately windy. Started pouring several minutes after I came in the house but was raining on and off all day.
Hiya Chips. Did you guys see this?
Stop! Obama Time! :-D
(and isn’t FLOTUS adorable dancing?)
Very clever!
Awesome!
Hahahahahahaha!!! :-) :-) :-)
The fucker is doubling down in stupidity. So now Obama is european.
Amk Romney has been saying that since 2011. He has used the foreign reference for over one year now.
Tick…Tock….Tick..Tock. Mitt Romney is losing the election.
We raised 6.5 million tonight at the fundraisers.
If Robney got that, Chuck Todd would have a hard on.

Hallelujah.
October surprise will be that R-money has no money.
Nice. Stolen.
Didn’t he reportedly spend $50mil of his own money to lose the primary in ’08? I repeat, tut, tut.
Shut the Front Door! 8-O
What has been happening to all the loot he has been raising or is this a wicked JOKE?
This is not about him not having enough money, it’s about a cash flow problem between the primary dollars and GE dollars. He had used up his primary funds and needed to start working on the general but could not touch those funds until he was actually nominated. BUT apparently somehow you can take out a loan and then pay it back although you have to raise the funds separately. Seems another way the Mitt found to get around regulations. We know it’s the ONE thing he is good at.
Tut, tut, tut, my heart is just breaking…. Wah.
Nate Silver looks at how the swing states will swing when voting for President in next NYTimes Sunday Magazine:
Love it - well said!
I am diggin’ the body language between President Obama and Mr. Letterman.
Seriously….Dan Rather again?…..geez….I’m sure he’s going to say that Romney will win….or something stupid.
Ugh. Dan Rather on my teevee screen. :x
He’s a regular on her show now….I don’t know how many times I saw him……ugh!
Gross.
He’s there as a more acceptable substitute for her “Uncle Pat.”
This is very encouraging to me!
Ok, my new piece is up on TPV: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/09/they-have-to-go-all-in-they-have-no.html
I’m pretty proud of it. Take a gander if you can.
Excellent work, LL.
(Just a little note: PBO swore in using Lincoln’s Bible, not Jefferson’s. ;-) )
Really? Damn, I thought it was Jefferson’s. Off to change.
I think so too.
Awesome job LL. I really envy you your ability to write. I loved it.
I really don’t know where my writing comes from. It often feels like I’m channelling the words, and my job is just to craft them.
That makes it a true gift!
Indeed a true gift, LL. Beautiful.HZ
“I’m Dreaming Of A White President” - Great Video. Well done.
Oh wait!! I just learned that this is the guy who wrote “You Got A Friend In Me” for Toy Story!! awww…..I love that song.
Randy Newman?
Yep. That’s him singing too.
Randy also wrote “Short People” that the King’s Singers did a version of. We loved it, love the King’s Singers. too. You can download the “I’m Dreaming” from Randy’s website. He encourages listeners to donate to the United Negro College Fund.
Ha ha! Saw that earlier. Hesitated posting for fear some would not get that it’s satire. :-)
Like Randy’s “Short People”
Read that a couple of states tried to ban the playing of “Short People” as being abusive to short people, completely unaware of the satire.

Here’s an idea: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/Pamela Show Myth how it’s done!
What happen to all that money they raised?
How can they be out of money? I thought they raised $112M in August.
Couldnt use general election funds until after the official nomination. This is a non story, except that they’re taking a precious amount of time to pay it back.
Personally, I think we have more important issues to spend our time on.
Questlove is my choice. He’s kicking Simmon’s butt.

I’m still bitter over Simmons’ crap during the primary four years ago.

DCCC Letter this afternoon
—————————-
BREAKING: Crossroads targets House races
We can win the House. But we need you with us.
http://dccc.org/7-Weeks-Left
I got a call from DCCC last night. They were triple matching donations to work on the Senate and House seats. They mean business!
I am definitely going to chip in. We need to win both the Presidency and the Congress.
Got a nice thank you note from Mother Jones for today’s donation:
“Thanks for your donation to nonprofit Mother Jones. Your support is incredibly important to us—it’s what keeps us alive. Your gift will go towards important investigative reporting that fact-checks the right-wing lie machine. When you read our next story online, you can be proud to know you made it happen…
In case you didn’t know, your gift is tax deductible: Mother Jones is published by the Foundation for National Progress, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you have any questions about your donation, please contact us at 877-GIV-MOJO (877-448-6656), or [email protected].”
I just subscribed to the digital edition via Zinio. No paper for me. I’ll give a further donation tomorrow.
The green choice… always admirable. Well done. No squanderers on my blog (or in my White House)! :-)
I didn’t know Mother Jones was a nonprofit organization! Now I’m definitely going to subscribe. They’ve done some really good work lately.

“President ROMNEY”?
if he were to be prez-sarcasm about how he is prone to stirring up trouble for the press to jump on. i know, it looks horrible in print like that! the article is basically challenging the press to get real about their coverage, using humor.
WTF?

I Love My President!
But but but the Debates, the Debates, the debates and…
They are so good at moving the goalposts.
Sob, sob, whine… Tell those whiners to pull themselves together!
The Republicans are doing everything in their feeble attempts to relive the past! Our PBO will Go, Confront the Problem, Fight and WIN!
We’re not going back, we’re going #FORWARD!!!
6, 2012.HZ
Yahoo News is the very last place I’d go to for news. It’s nonsense.
Fuck whoopi. Next ?
(If someone gives me her twit id, I will say it right in her face.)
Mitt RMoney is a known liar. I bet he just wanted to be able to identify a famous person and a famous “diverse” person that claimed to be voting for him. If you listen to the tape, that whole segment was filled with uhs and awkward laughter. RMoney’s tell for when he’s lying.
Where is everyone?
I must’ve missed something…
Indeed.
Haters have taken to Twitter to criticize POTUS for Letterman appearance while “20 embassies burn”. Ugh, I really hate these assholes.
AnitaW, don’t let it get to you. Will you be staying up to watch Letterman?
The haters can’t help themselves. If I supported a candidate like Mitt Romney I would act like a racists fool too. They deserve each other.
Tivo. I have to get up early to walk my dog. The clip above is fantastic. Can’t wait to see the entire appearance.
You can find all kinds of crazy on the internet. Probably 20% of American adults do not know who the current Vice President is. It’s not even worth reading let alone writing about it.
People were asking on an earlier thread about the guy running against Bachmann. It’s Jim Graves. If anyone would like to help Minnesota clean up a little toxic waste here’s the place to contribute.
http://jimgraves.com/
Here’s his twitter:
@Graves4Congress
thanks, sunshine!
:-)
So wonderful! Thanks for sharing this.
Oh! That’s so nice. We need good people like this in government. I’m in MN and it’s so embarrassing to have MB representing us. But the people in that district would vote for a pig if it had an “R” after it’s name. I think she may have gone too far, even for them though. Thanks NZ!
I am going to listen again but Mitt did say IRAN, DIRTY BOMB, AMD CHICAGO..
Yes you heard it right. The stupid arrogant rich snob talked about a dirty bomb, Iran and Chicago.
Pres. Obama is on Letterman now.
I voted for Obama and will do so again this November. And I work my ass off! Mitt, you are a tool.
$10000 says the repukes will make hay over PBO not saying how much the debt is.
SO!!!!!!!!!!!! They criticized this President for everything anyway. So to be honest who gives a dam what the repukes say. Let me go back to watching Letterman now.
Looking at Obama on Letterman…
He’s cool as ice and twice and nice.
That’s My President! I love him! :-)
You’re dam right Mr. Simon.
Yes he does. That’s My President! I love him! :-)
How I love to hear this!
And, yes, MY Preezy was masterful, as usual.
Fist bump !!
THIS x 1000000!
Obama says on Letterman that he immediately regretted the guns and religion comments 4 years ago. Brutally HONEST and HUMBLE. Mitt needs to take notes…but who am i kidding?
Remember……Mitt’s book. No Apology.
… and no character either, as he has repeatedly demonstrated.
@Obamaboy. PBO may have regretted it but he certainly did tell the truth, and we who supported him recognized. As I’ve said, the rethugs have made his statement all the more prescient when one notices guns at rallies- not to mention increase in gun sales- and God used out of context.
Even though alot of Republicans has disrespect him, POTUS still show class and dignity. He is not up there whining like Mitt and Ann do.
Good thing! LOL! Hood?
The overseas ‘thingy’ is ovah, jovie. Just as I predicted. No more screaming headlines. Just a few muslin extremists incited christo fascists.
Yep, he did us a “solid” :-)
What ho TOD Peeps. Here’s a “makes you smile” story. Los Angeles Chef and Border Grill Restauranter says her dream guest in her restaurant would be…. guess who? Interesting recipe at the link too.

It’s done? What?
Well Good night all. Letterman is gone off now. Enjoy watching and listening to POTUS. You can tell that David Letterman really like POTUS and FLOTUS. I thought POTUS might be in alittle trouble when he seem not to remember his and FLOTUS wedding anniversary, but he did remember. Actually he told how it was FLOTUS who forgot their first wedding anniversary. After POTUS kick Mitt’s lying behind, maybe POTUS and FLOTUS could go celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, October 3rd. Night all.
I meant to say after POTUS kick Mitt’s lying behind during the debate. October 3rd.
Beautiful appearance by PBO on Letterman, by all measures. He is a remarkable human being. Always so impressive with these interviews. Genuine, intelligent, calm, cool, confident. The Best. There is no other like him.
And the audience was listening in rapt attention.
Great interview with PBO and Letterman. I did not expect it to be so long and detailed and that was a delightful treat.
So much substance and coherence from PBO’s great mind. Anyone who missed it, you have a treat waiting for you. Enjoy :-)
G’nite all. Sleep well.
Leave it to a comedian to ask substantive questions.
Thank goodness we have so many alternatives to the sucky MSM.
Exactly nath! Dave is one of the good guys!
I stayed up late to watch it - and I didn’t want it to end. Kept replaying it in my head that I couldn’t sleep for an hour.
Dear Chips & fellow TODers,
Yesterday evening I posted a comment:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/17/its-going-to-get-extraordinarily-dirty-extraordinarily-fast/#comment-492180
I have utmost respect for David Corn and what he has exposed.
That said, open questions remain:
As David and Mother Jones (MJ) released the ‘full video’ of #SmirknMitt’s dinner party it was obvious that portions that had previously been posted to YouTube were missing. In a previous thread, the issue was raised:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/18/the-mother-jones-videos/#comment-492706
And, a request to David Corn for clarification was tweeted:
As well as additional requests including a blog post at one of his relevant MJ blog posts (via DISQUS) that linked to my expressed concerns at TOD:
http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/09/romney-secret-video-marc-leder-sex-parties#comment-655097715
and another request for clarification via Twitter:
My hope is that David Corn and his MJ colleagues, particularly since David reported in July on #BainMitt’s investments in that Chinese company, …
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/07/bain-capital-mitt-romney-outsourcing-china-global-tech
…. are now preparing to roll out an ‘expanded version,’ but, in any case, the inconsistencies between what has been, and remains, on the net in various YouTube accounts, and what was released today as the ‘full video,’ must be addressed.
Too much is at stake to mess with any of this.

Good morning Chips,
Moderator assistance needed :)
Hope you find the post of value.

This is not trivial on many levels …

Hope this helps.
#PRESSON
TweetDeck is great! Thanks for the tip, Bob! Happy tweeting :)
Wow Bob! It’s like a whole new world! I was totally overwhelmed with the volume of tweets rolling by. I’m using TweetDeck now and I can actually see when people retweet or send me a message. Oh it makes the experience 10x better. Thanks so much!

Glad you find it helpful, Rita & Dudette :)
GM Bob. Of late, I am seeing many of your posts under ‘moderation’.
Chips, wtf is going on ? Is there a trigger at FYWP?

it’s late. I had to….http://www.truthdig.com/cartoon/item/the_asshole_monologue_20120918/
These are the truths we should be spreading around instead of what the effing pundtwits and the cable noise and rest of the dumb-down media are spewing.
Exactly!
As I watched this interview I kept thinking, “I’m so glad he is President.” He’s smart, thoughtful, elegant, patient, respectful of everyone in the world. He is the right man for the job and the right man for this time in our history.
Amen to that Alisa!

POTUS schedule for Wednesday is what. I know FLOTUS will be in North Carolina today for two events.
For example, more than 63,000 young people who preregistered to vote as early as 16 years old thanks to a state law taking effect in 2010 are eligible to vote this November, according to Democracy North Carolina.
http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/news/elections/obama-campaign-goes-high-tech-sign-voters-1221071
The key to this article, Kids that are 16 years old can Vote? That just expanded the electorate for the President. If that is true, then I think we will win NC, on this new info alone!
Oh- pre registered for 18? Still, 63k Kids is the Obama base!
According to Mitt Romney, Letterman don’t like him because he has appear on Jay Leno more then he has appeared on Letterman.
Letterman probably has no opinion of Mitt - the GOP seems to think everyone hates them - when in fact it’s that people like Dave Letterman just “don’t give a damn”
Excellent. In so many ways.
http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/09/romney-video-47-percent-income-tax-republican-real-obama
Man…!
I was wrong about msnbc, they are very tough on Robney, so far!
TeaNN is not unbelievable. I would expect nothing more from them. They want to keep this race close, they are leaning right. So nothing TeaNN does surprises me.

candid camera commentary- the more folks think about it, the more they realize how revealing it is, and how devastating:
‘ Was Romney abandoning the idea that his tax policies might help the economy generally, rather than just the tax filer, or does he simply thinks that “those people” are incapable of understanding any picture bigger than the mailbox in which they’re looking for their checks? ‘

Hmmm WordPress weirdness? Replies are posting as separate comments. :-(
This is a reply to Dudette - I posted a comment at the end & it appears way out of place?? WordPress?
Looks okay now. Don’t know what happened, but it’s back to normal.
This is hilarious, mostly because Jimmy Fallon picks up on Romney’s bed head at his hastily called 47% press appearance
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/18/mitt-romney-47-percent/
Very funny. Fallon imitates that creep well, particularly how Romney always exits the podium just like a robot.
My church member is on Morning Joe! Denzel!!!!!! He looks so young, serving the Lord definitely keeps you young looking.
What church you go to with denzel?
Check this out from the ’08 campaign. Pay close attention to what Kerry Washington says at 1:29. In yo face, Mitt Romney!
Such a shame that I have to work on my birthday. (Skeeee!!!) But a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Everyone have a beautiful day!
Say happy birthday to Soledad O’Brien too! :-)
Happy Birthday Dudette, have yourself a beautiful day!
Thanks pugeretto! I hope this comment ends up in the right place.
It did & try to have some fun today!
HB Dudette - thanks for the follow - followed you back :-)
Thanks a4alice! :-)
Many happy returns!! Have a great birthday.
Thank you so much blondegrrl!
Happy happy, Dudette. Make the best of it, even at work :-D
Thanks edp!
Happy Birthday, Dudette! Tell everyone at work so they can make you feel even more special. :)
Thanks, sure will, theo. I understand the power of advertising! :-D
Happy happy birthday, Dudette! I have to work on your birthday too, but that won’t stop me from wishing you a wonderful day! :)
Thank you Pamela dear. I appreciate that. Will think of you while I’m slaving away on the keyboard. :-)
Good morning Chips, what a week! The good , bad & the ugly….thanks for the tweet deckmention, I might look into that sometime soon. Thanks for posting the videos, pictures & info we all look forward to everyday.
I really despise members of the media who thing politics is a game and that they have to intervene to create a horse-race.
Hello?
Poll: Warren Up 5 In Mass. Senate Race

Mitts dad was on welfare.
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/jon-stewart-romney-video-47-percent.php?ref=fpnewsfeed
And yet this poll shows him just barely beating Robney with a 52% approval?
But leads Romney by 1% point? How come? It makes No sense.
My posts are all out of order! WordPress, what ails you?
Looks back to normal now. I suspect they were updating software in the wee hours.
Good morning, Chips and TOD!
Enjoyed watching our calm, cool, confident President last night.
Have a great day! Off to donate and prepare to go to PA on Sat.
A beautiful day in NYC despite all the heavy wind and rain last night.
GUYS - this thread is too crowded…let’s go here instead:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/17/a-tale-of-two-courts/
Okay. Did not go through…..trying again.
Good morning, everyone!
Hello. Is anybody here? My posts are all wacky. Did everybody leave from here?
It is morning, right? HELP!
Rise and Shine…….
Pat Buchanan: racists old fool.
And Chuck Todd is nothing more than a two bit pundit.
CAN WE GO TO ANOTHER THREAD? THIS ONE IS TOO FULL AND EVERYTHING IS OUT OF ORDER!!
 ——where’s that egg-on-face picture? Thanks Chips. Just to note, the previous comment was not for you.
