French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has broken with diplomatic protocol by openly expressing his hope that Barack Obama wins the upcoming US presidential election.
“If I was an American citizen I wouldn’t hesitate to vote for Obama,” he told a radio interviewer on Wednesday.
While it is hardly surprising that Ayrault, a Socialist, would support the Democrat candidate in a US election, prudence normally restricts politicians from making such remarks given the possibility they will end up having to deal with their Republican rivals.
Ayrault is not however the first French minister to offer public support for Obama in his neck-and-neck battle with Republican Mitt Romney.
On Tuesday, Bernard Cazeneuve, the European affairs minister, said: “As far as I’m concerned, I totally support it (Obama’s re-election) and I would be astonished if the government had any other wish.”

Well folks, it’s been a hell of an afternoon/evening. Was driving back to work after lunch when I get a call from the wife. She’s dizzy, feeling faint, and freezing. Could I go pick her up? So I get back to the office, make my apologies, and head to her work. Pick her up, and she says she needs to go to the ER. We get there at around 2.30 pm. The short of it is that an infection she had a few weeks wasn’t quite eradicated by her antibiotics. So, they’re keeping her overnight to do IV antibiotics. Came home, put together a care package for her, went back, got her dinner, and now I’m back home. I am wiped out, and of course worried. Fortunately, our doggie daycare goddess is, well, a goddess; Stewie is safely stowed away at her place on a sleep-over. Now I’m going to collapse in a bit.

He just traveled to six states across four time zones in two days. Now, President Obama will hit seven more battleground states. On TV.
The president will sit for 10 interviews on Friday at the White House — seven with local stations, one with MTV, one with a black radio network and one with radio host Michael Smerconish of Philadelphia.
Obama has done spurts of local television during the campaign, but, like his travel on the campaign trail, this marks a significant ramping up as the race enters its final days.
The campaign did not release details about which stations in what markets scored the one-on-ones. I will post more information here as I find it.
The MTV interview will be with Sway Calloway and will air live. “During this live interview, young people across the country will hear directly from the President as he answers their questions on the issues most important to them,” the campaign said in an announcement.

What a hard working, serious President we have working for us. He makes Congress looks like the video of Mitt/Meat Loaf. All over the place, singing loud, off key, stuck on stupid and just in the way.

O/T: Took some time out to view the fall foliage in Hudson Valley in Upstate N.Y.(very beautiful scenery this time off year).
I interrupted the tour guides as often as I could while on the grounds and inside the Montgomery Place with the question, “Where were the slave quarters?” I could see that they were not prepared for that question. They kindly gave me the little information they knew, but shared valuable information of a “freed slave” who helped keep the grounds and did a lot of research in study of botany and horticulture, specifically borgoneias(sp). The Montgomery/ Delafield women played a crucial part in preserving and making this historical site what it is today. But I just wanted to know where were the slaves’ quarters, burial grounds…something. I had something to tell them.
Finally, when the tour was over(the guides were very informative and kind) I just stood on the porch of the mansion and whispered, “Hey you guys, we have a Black President.”
As a beautiful as the landscape, architecture and gardens are, it felt good to say that and I was proud to be the messenger. And then to come here late last nigh and see Air Force One iin the background as our 44th President ran down those steps, it most certainly was a “perfect day.”

This lead up to last day of election is in stark contrast to the fear and unknown in 2008, PBO, OFA, DNC and every other group and individuals are actively involved this year, I can feel it’s going to be a huge win for PBO and Dems.

Sorry, as a mother of one daughter and two sons…I thought it was cute. My sons cast their first vote in 2008 and my daughter cast hers in the 2010 primaries…they all are likely voters under the age of 25. This ad beats the ads I am seeing in Florida from all of the GOP candidates. Two of my children voted absentee already. They are in college and voted for PBO. My other son is working and going to get his masters but is registered in NY. He will be voting early like his mom. Early vote starts tomorrow in Florida. I will be out the door by 6am with a car full of Obama voters. We hope to be among the first to cast votes for President Obama in Palm Beach County Florida. My husband is a Republican and will vote on election day. He too is pledging his support for President Obama this election.
I think this last round of baking has been too much for Chips! How else to explain the extended delayed arrival? Poor overworked soul!
