I am a Vietnam veteran and appreciated what Jane Fonda and every other war protester did. I am afraid we are forgetting how wrong the Vietnam war was. Too few of our political leaders from that era served, and many who served are still suffering. I am thrilled that SOS Kerry and soon to be SOD Hagel are now in our leadership.
There’s always going to be many sides to that divisive issue, Bill, as you know, since you are a Vietnam veteran. Each of your fellow combat veterans sees it unique to his own thoughts at the time and following return to the States - as our whole country did back then. Thank you for going there, when your country asked you to, while I sat home raising my baby son in a safe environment, wishing it were over and you all were coming home. I also am thrilled to see SOS Kerry and soon-to-be SECDEF Hagel in leadership! Especially the part that Chuck was an enlisted man - that will mean a lot to our current-day enlisted men and women!
I approve of best actor and actress. Daniel Day Lewis was an authentic Lincoln. And I love Jennifer Lawrence—-she’s real in a phony world—-and I loved her in that movie, Silver Linings, and I loved that movie.
Remember when POTUS and FLOTUS went to Ireland, and at the rally, Daniel Day Lewis mentioned he was preparing to play Lincoln and read a famous a quote in honor of Barack Obama. I like to think PBO played a little part in Daniel winning his Oscar tonight, LOL
Na - they show it here tonight I think & make believe it’s just happening - sigh - I’ll see her then - I love that she mentioned it on Fallon & no-one picked up on it - what a Lady.
I just saw your reply to me on the previous thread. Sorry I disagree. I don’t think you can say someone is not “real” if they color their hair. Are women not “real” because we wear makeup to change or enhance are looks? FLOTUS wears makeup and false eyelashes and I don’t think you can more “real” than she. Are black women not “real” if they straighten their hair. I think you open a can of worms when you start talking about whether someone is “real” based on what they may or may not do to enhance or change their looks. Just my 2 cents. :-<
He was entertaining in the beginning—-and funny—-despite Gauvin’s constant tweets that people don’t understand his comedy—-uhmmm, what??? But except for the welcome relief of Adele and Barbra Streisand and a few other highlights along the way, it mostly slid downhill for the duration.
I agree about that last song, but I kinda expected some tacky when they picked him host. Guess they thought it would bring ratings. My cousin left halfway through the show. If I wasn’t the movie nut that I am, I might’ve turned off the TV myself.

and I never could stand Tina Brown, and now I really really can’t stand her—-after I saw her tweet asking ‘wtf is Michelle doing on the Oscars?’ True colors shining through.
She was a one time editor for I don’t remember the name of the magazine. From there she married some rich old man and then started Thedailybeast.com. Ran Newsweek. She is a British woman. Loves the Clintons, Hillary in particular. At one time, she had a show on CNBC. She comes on Mourning Joke at least 2x a month.
Is it just me? Am I getting old, or were the “jokes” disguised as slams and just tasteless and tacky? Seth needs to keep his day job, and he’s a better singer than an Oscar host. FLOTUS was a terrific surprise:) Barbra was superb…as always. Other than that…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I did enjoy the Bond tribute and I love Adele. Other than that and hearing Barbra again it was long and boring. I do like seeing all the dresses, but I would have rather watched all the people enter the Govenors Ball.
But those were the kind of jokes the Seth guy is known for. He makes those kind of jokes on his animated show on Fox. For him to do something different would have looked silly to him. They knew what he was about and they hired him anyway.
I have never seen his show either. However, I know people who have and they find the show to be too funny. So based on some of their past comments…..that explained why his jokes might be a little put off for some today.
@Desertflower, you said exactly what I was thinking. Never a better year of nominations, but the show was stupid. Why the Chicago and Dreamgirls songs? That made no sense. The beginning was so tasteless and the end song was just mean. The First Lady was great. She has so much class. I didn’t agree completely with the Best Pic award, but there were such great contenders. I thought that Seth guy was just horrible. He should apologize.
Believe us, FLOTUS, it was a thrill to see you up there on the big screen! What a delightful surprise! Very well done, indeed! You are loved by millions!
Go look at her Twitter timeline — some nasty pieces of work had the nerve to post really ugly replies to her. I cannot not believe how disgusting some people are!

Good Night Dudette. Sweet dreams to everyone. Loved your tweets on twitter. Our FLOTUS was beautiful as always. Love our WH team. They have forgotten that many of the actors and actresses have worked with our First Lady in the first term as mentors for the young people. Promoting the teaching and appreciation of the Performing Arts are to be given great shout outs to our young people and all of the professionals who work with the young people to encourage them.
One day, our children will hear some of these young people who will become the next Best: actors, designers, film editors, music, stunt technology, costumes, directors, etc. I am elated that FLOTUS was asked and she said yes. We will see many more great moments in so many connected ways to lift up education, science, our young people, the arts, and other wonderful works coming from our White House.
POB and this Whitehouse are focus to keep goodness moving for all citizens. Let us take our beautiful moments and Not Allow the faint and discouraging people steal joyful times from our space. We have many more moments to put on a smiling face. Do not count POB and his team out of it. He is a man who is brilliant in his thinking, his deeds, his trust, his commitment to do the best for our young people. HZ
All these people having a fit about Michelle on the Oscars—-why do they even care? What does it hurt? Their feelings? Do they hate that much that they would have to go in to high gear protest mode? About a presentation on the Oscars??? I just don’t understand these people who are in perpetual rage—-and for this??? Desperate, ugly people.
Exactly, COS! And if I remember correctly, envy/jealousy is one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Also, if Presidents can take part in making jokes at the WHCD, or throw out a ceremonial pitches at the baseball games, why can’t the First Lady take part in the Oscars? Are the Oscars Awards not part of the American culture? I am so glad that POTUS and FLOTUS pay absolutely no attention to haters and keep on sharing their love and energy with most Americans who love and appreciate them.
Ugly people like Michele Malkin or whatever her name is. Folks on Twitter are reminding her of Reagan’s involvement with the Oscars, and that little detail that he was an actor and I think head of the Screen Actors Guild or whatever it was called back in the dark ages when he was Republican king. Think I’ll go look that up.
Michele Malkin is a jealous S.O.B, she hates anything Obama, even Bo I’m sure. Yes I said it. I don’t like to use those words (SOB)but sometimes things go to far. It is just plain stupid for anyone trying to make some big deal cause FLOTUS was on the Oscars.

Well, believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve been at the computer all day. Busy around the house, and had made bbq for the missus before she starts her pre-surgery diet.
Seth was great until the last song. That was tasteless and tacky, even for Seth. (Yes, I’m a big “Family Guy” fan, so I wasn’t put off by the jokes, until, again, the last song.)
I’m sure the chattering classes will be aghast at Michelle appearing on the Oscars, so we must push back.
Thanks Donna for posting this video clip for people like me who missed watching the awards. How can any one fault The First Lady for participating in recognizing the accomplishments of these Artists who make our lives richer?
No sensible person does fault FLOTUS. I sure don’t. Heck, I went to bed and missed FLOTUS, if I knew she was going to be up there I would have watched the show. I just found out about it as I was watching the early news which comes on at 3a.m. So I came to Obama Diary to get all the info and image my surprise to hear about certain people being upset cause FLOTUS appeared on the Oscars. Well I say, if FLOTUS was asked to do this, if she wanted to do it, if POTUS didn’t mind, please tell me who else business is it.
I’ll just say that there was a brave and off-scale talented woman in that audience who directed a movie that highlighted the absolute treachery and unspeakable horror that George Bush and Dick Cheney unleashed on people, the numbers of whom we are likely never to know.
They harmed America by their TORTURE policy and practices in ways that we will suffer for decades if not longer - yes, folk, stuff like that sticks for a very, very long time. If you doubt that you know nothing about what the word ‘crusade’ elicits from almost TWO BILLION Muslims.
It was President Barack Obama who, as among his first known acts as President, ended the era of Bush-Cheney TORTURE.
Absolutely nothing about 0D30 endorsed or otherwise supported TORTURE. In fact, one of the brilliant accomplishments of Ms Bigelow is how she conveys the transition, the entire shift in policy and focus that is historically coincident with the assumption of the role of Commander-in-Chief by Barack Obama.
For me, it could not have been a more astonishing moment had the First Lady of the United States announced that Kathryn Bigelow’s 0D30 was selected as Best Picture. It would have been profound.

Any night owls around - are we swamped again - climate is seriously weird. We had a 10 year drought followed by 3 years of floods. Don’t think I can get any more water logged! Our lawn is a swimming pool & the roof still leaks - all we need is snow in the winter - then I will be seriously confused
Hi 99ts, yes, strange storms…while we’re not affected too much here in Syd metro, strange to see a few of the trees (young ones) broken in half because of the severity of these brief but very heavy storms. Hope things ease up for you so you can get some kind of boring weather normality
aloha 99
i’ve been back-tracking, trying to catch up with today’s comment threads. so much good conversation here, but more fun in the moment! but that is nothing next to your roof and flooding woes, of course! i can relate, a bit, as we’ve had weeks of rain here, but still perking into the ground so far. our roof is corrugated tin, and only 10 years old, so no troubles there (knock wood!). but i have about a thousand loads of laundry waiting for a sunny day! no dryer, no laundromat within 25 miles, and running out of clean clothes! and the whole house is smelling suspiciously of mildew.
Sorry Susanne - my other half arrived home from work & I had to get dinner. You probably know about the continuous rain - I guess it is better than drought! but it sure just keeps coming - I remember the days before I had a dryer - and when we were in England we used to hang clothes over all the heaters - got somewhat steamy inside!
Those snow pictures are amazing - I didn’t realize there was snow in your world? I’ve only seen snow once - and a very poor example it was - when I was a student. I think I probably prefer the rain
just a few of our mountains get a bit of snow, and not every year. that’s why hawaii people make the long drive just to see it and play in it. i’ve lived in cold-weather places, and the novelty sure wears off fast! i also prefer the rain, and i’m thrilled we’re not having another drought year. yours sounds pretty severe, especially with roof problems. i’m signing off, now, so i’ll leave the tod watch to you! aloha oe~
Good morning. I didn’t watch the Oscars last night, but I saw an article about The Onion going entirely over the line with their humor. I won’t post it, but they tweeted something very nasty about the little actress named Quvenzhane Wallis who was nominated for a best actress oscar. I hope the NAACP comes down on those clowns HARD. I don’t know on what fucking planet they thought that would be funny.
Hello squarepeg - Morning Joe just quoted Rich Lowry which took my mind off the oscars and everything else - guess I needed that to help me turn it off - I was hoping they would say something about spreading the lies of Bob Woodward last week - silly me - they just double down with Rich Lowry!
I heard some attacking the onion but I didn’t see their tweets - saw people giving Tina Brown a hard time on twitter - justly deserved
Who the hell is the Onion, and what is it? The fact that someone or thing think it is funny to make a negative joke about a 9 year old girl, says alot about that person. It says they are full of alot of crap, B.S.

A new analysis of 56 mass shootings across America since 2009 finds women and family members are the most frequent victims, and that the shooter almost always acquired his guns legally, in cases where the gun source is known.
“In at least 32 of the cases (57 percent), the shooter killed a current or former spouse or intimate partner or other family member, and at least eight of those shooters had a prior domestic violence charge,” the Mayors Against Illegal Guns report on mass shootings said, suggesting that the problem of gun violence is far more related to violence against women in homes than rampages in public settings such as schools and theaters.
The study also found that in the cases where the source of the guns was known, almost all were acquired legally: only two examples were given of mass killings with a stolen or illegal gun. That finding runs counter to the gun lobby’s oft-cited rhetoric that only criminals abuse guns.

Oh - I loved London - Westminster Hall brings it all back - queued for hours to see the Queen Mother lying in state in the Hall. Intitially it was to only last a day - there was a massive outcry, so it was all changed - We initially got lost looking for the end of the queue!
Couldn’t get anywhere near Downing Street - it’s closed to us mortals. London is so full of history - I am slightly envious of the personal tour Sec Kerry is getting - then again - he has a critical role to play in the world.
I also loved London when I have visited. So much history there…..Samuel Johnson said:”When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” I’ll never forget my first visit. We took the tube to Westminster from our hotel, and came up out of the ground and looked up, and there was BIG BEN!!! It really existed. That was my whole first trip……”THis really exists!”
So proud to have John Kerry as our SOS. He has big goals and visions for the world, and I pray these can come to fruition.

I regret missing FLOTUS last night - didn’t get to watch the OSCARS (nor did I tape it). Anyway, I’m sure I will have access to an archive somewhere She looks FANTASTIC!
I never watch, myself. All the glitter and ‘humour’ are too much for me, but I find the highlights interesting when I run across them. I bet you we’ll see enough highlights this week to give a fairly good idea of what went down.
I can’t fully access this story but find it “interesting” that the NYT seeks to connect/associate President Obama with Jesse Jackson Jr. after Jackson’s guilty plea this week. No reason for this, no meaningful purpose. Motive seem transparent.
Crossed Paths: Chicago’s Jacksons and Obamas nyti.ms/13HVcOL— The New York Times (@nytimes) February 25, 2025
Yes the motive is MORE than transparent. What the NY Times fails to realize is that this “guilt by association” crap they’re trying to pull with PBO will NOT work. Enough people in America and abroad know and trust our President and pushing this story is actually making the NY Times look very very small.
@nytimes Your transparent attempt to link Jackson with Obama - esp.after Jackson's guilty plea is disgusting and base.— (@aspirational12) February 25, 2025
I read it all dotster3 - found it fairly low key - looking at the relationships between the families and what has happened to each - I didn’t see it as positive or negative. Nothing about the President I didn’t already know - and no criticism because of the relationships that I could see.
I think what Dotster and I are getting at is not so much the article itself but the mere psychology of linking the two men in a headline - especially after considering what just happened with Jackson Jr. Further, starting off with “Chicago” is very telling. Most people will read the headline and come to their own conclusions without reading the article.
Why write it then? That was my point. There was no reason. Just a desperate attempt to associate Obama’s name with the now criminally guilty Jackson Jr.
Thanks Bill, I didn’t know. I knew about that rag the NY Post, but not the other. But seem to me the NYT have a problem with POTUS. I think someone mention the other day that POTUS haven’t given a interview to the NYT.

In 1962, my sister took me to see I Can Get It For You Wholesale” Streisand’s breakthrough role on Broadway. She was about 20 at the time. Her voice is the only thing I remember from the show. I looked at my sister and said “wow” I hope we hear that incredible voice again. Little did I know.
Nice sister! In 1962, my older sister was ignoring the heck out of me (three years younger), and holed up in her bedroom, blowing cigarette smoke out of her window, so my mother wouldn’t find out. #Mem’ries
My Barbra:) Wish she could have sung more than one song….. She made me cry.
Love Barbara. A beautiful voice indeed.HZ
Go Adele!!
Even David Corn’s hangin’ on … with his “beam me up” h/t:
Goodness gracious Michael Douglas looks like his dad more everyday!
And Jane Fonda looks like her father.
Jane fonda should have been executed for treason. She is the refuse in a dirty dog park.
What???? Hardly. Geez. And wow!
I’m old enough to know that many a Vietnam veteran feels exactly the way he does about Jane Fonda. Still.
Yikes—-I was on Jane Fonda’s side on that one—-for sure.
She gave aid and comfort to the enemy in Vietnam. She’s a PIG!
I disagree—- but I’m not fighting that war again—-and I still like you.
And it is so!
I approve of best actor and actress. Daniel Day Lewis was an authentic Lincoln. And I love Jennifer Lawrence—-she’s real in a phony world—-and I loved her in that movie, Silver Linings, and I loved that movie.
Dotster, I could listen to Daniel Day Lewis’ voice all night. He’s absolutely mesmerizing.
Remember when POTUS and FLOTUS went to Ireland, and at the rally, Daniel Day Lewis mentioned he was preparing to play Lincoln and read a famous a quote in honor of Barack Obama. I like to think PBO played a little part in Daniel winning his Oscar tonight, LOL
omg FLOTUS on the Oscars!
It’s FLOTUS! hola! Whoa!
OMG!!!!!! Yay FLOTUS!!!
Michelle!!!! Introducing Best Picture!
That was soooooooo cool! She looks stunning!!!
ALRIGHT! ha Ha Ha Ha ! Our beauty, our divine FLOTUS! omg
World’s best kept secret!
Yes, it was! However, remember on Fallon she said thought she’d be finished the ball in time for “Best Picture” — she was messing with us!
No, I didn’t watch Fallon…. Too late for me…she is pretty cool , eh ?
Chips has videos Pamela - worth watchind - she was wonderful
Oh Gawd, FLOTUS!
OMG!!!!!!!!! First Lady Michelle Obama was at the Oscars. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now we saw Michelle Obama beamed up to the Oscar award show. Lovely.
Wow! It’s Argo!!! and FLOTUS announces!!! Whoa!!!!
So did any of you know that ….. ?
Nobody knew that, I’m sure it was the hardest secret to keep ~ EVER!
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed YES YES YES Pamela
- women are always able to keep a secret
Did you watch live with us, 99ts?
Na - they show it here tonight I think & make believe it’s just happening - sigh - I’ll see her then - I love that she mentioned it on Fallon & no-one picked up on it - what a Lady.
Isn’t Michelle just so beautiful!
She was magnificent, mt. I gasped when I saw her. The highlight of the whole night! And just when I was about to call it a day. Wow, just Wow!!!
mtmarilyn, Yes she is. Both inside and out.
nitey nite
Argo? Nope. I am sorry. I am not a BenA’s fan.
I was pulling for Lincoln, but Argo was that good. It wasn’t a robbery.
Sabreen60…..what are you talking about?
My comment was just about POTUS. I like him being Real, period.
Please, I don’t like words or meanings I didn’t have, never thought of being assigned to me. Please.
POTUS is Real to me. He is not pretentious. I prefer him, just as he is. That is all.
When I say something that might offend anyone, I will apologize. Not on this. So please. My comments were just as I have stated them.
Perhaps I misunderstood your definition of “real”. No big thing.
Uh, Ben? Get a grip dood…..
WOW!!! Mrs. O looks STUNNING tonight!!! That was a great surprise!!!
Ben Affleck was not excited much, was he? Lol.
Ben just made me cry. So sweet!
Hmmm, anybody think Seth will be hosting next year?
No. He is cute and a better singer. But he was not comfortable…..a tad too jittery.
Wow, “Here’s to the Losers” - mean and tacky in one big shiny ball. Man, that sucks!
I thought he was very tasteless. What is wrong with hosing such a major show with class?!?
I can’t believe it Mrs. O looked stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lord, glad I only watched the last hour. Seth was an insufferable bore — not funny at all; and the closing song was absolutely tacky and classless.
FLOTUS did say on Fallon that she would catch the end of the Oscars after the Governor’s Ball. We just did not know what she meant.
Seriously. That was such a shock, but what a lovely one! Way to go FLOTUS!
and I never could stand Tina Brown, and now I really really can’t stand her—-after I saw her tweet asking ‘wtf is Michelle doing on the Oscars?’ True colors shining through.
Should Tweet back: Whatever the F she wants to! Stay classy, Tina!
Many similar replies df
deservedly so
Tina brown would find anyway to insult and attack the Obamas no matter what. She has not stopped in 4 yrs.
Who is Tina Brown???
She was a one time editor for I don’t remember the name of the magazine. From there she married some rich old man and then started Thedailybeast.com. Ran Newsweek. She is a British woman. Loves the Clintons, Hillary in particular. At one time, she had a show on CNBC. She comes on Mourning Joke at least 2x a month.
Tina Brown is being hit on twitter - and what about the WHPC - first the golf and now the oscars - they having a sad
Spot on!
DF, did FLOTUS make a video appearance? I did not watch the Oscars.
She did! She presented the Best Picture award to Argo from the WH. She looked amazing!
Oh, how wonderful. She does look amazing.
always:)
I don’t watch much tv, so I know that he is the Family Guy, guy…but I’ve never seen that show.
I have never seen his show either. However, I know people who have and they find the show to be too funny. So based on some of their past comments…..that explained why his jokes might be a little put off for some today.
Not my cup of tea, I guess. I found them not funny and tasteless.
So true Pamela, FLOTUS is loved by millions.
Where are the pooh-poohers now?
Go look at her Twitter timeline — some nasty pieces of work had the nerve to post really ugly replies to her. I cannot not believe how disgusting some people are!
You are kidding? I was teasing those of TODville who had no interest in Oscars.
Totally. Sickened by the whole damn thing.
I can hear the righties now, “The Oscars are beneath the First Lady, why was she there? How much did it cost to beam her live, the socialist muslim should stop the spending” I just want to tell them all STFU
As I put on another blog in response to the RWNJ’s heads are exploding … GOOD. May they drown in their jealous, hate filled jelly-like plasma matter.
Everybody’s going after @JohnJHarwood already - he’s a fool and showing his true “colors.”
“F” the righties and John Harwood, and anyone else who try to criticized FLOTUS for being on the Oscars. What is the big deal? All FLOTUS did was announced the best picture, so the haters need to back off.
The Obama’s way to thank the Hollywood Crowd that helped out so much with Time, money and support.
Let the chattering class go absolutely berserk in the AM on Monday.
WHPC might be sucking their thumbs again. Wow.
Other than Michelle Obama’s surprise appearance……I loved Barbra Streisand. I was able to watch for an hour plus. It really was a slower pace. Nothing to write home about.
Just came to post that, myself. Lovely photo!
Souza just pumped another one out!! Full steam ahead…….
Maybe this was the one I was going to post. Anyway, just sent him a response telling him he is the master! He sounds proud of both his work and his subject, doesn’t he?
Absolutely, also now all the newscasts have a wonderful picture to use in the morning, because of the dearth of pictures from the Governer’s Ball.
Yes!!!! Can’t wait to see those front pages!
Love, FLOTUS.
Stunning stunning dress FLOTUS!
For the morons at Fox News.
Wondered what was going on with Kristin Stewart though…she was a wreck. Anyone else see that?
That’s video is so sweet.
Good night everyone! Sweet dreams!
HZ
Thank you HZ! What a lovely vision you paint for us. I’m so glad you’re a part of TOD. You’re such a beautiful spirit.
Sheer jealousy and envy.
Night all…it’ll be Happy Monday soon enough!
Via BJ for folks like me that didn’t see it live
Damn, wish I was still on active duty. I would LOVE being a social aide for this administration! I did this as an additional duty a few times during the Reagan and Bush 41 admins.
Would have been a lot more exciting during this administration, of course!
Hope this helps 99
Don’t think those two let me watch LP - but ty for the links - it’s on the TV in my world from 9.30pm tonight - they make believe it’s live! I’ll make sure the last 30 minutes is recorded!
I posted the Oscar official blog down thread with all the presentations/video try that one…..hopefully that will work. http://oscar.go.com/blogs/real-time/36
Thanks LP - I’ll check it
Well, believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve been at the computer all day.
See everyone tomorrow!
Only be the WHPC - they hate missing out on the golf and oscars
ARGO Wins Best Picture, First Lady Michelle Obama present @ 2013 Oscars 85th Academy
Thanks for posting the video Donna.
I’m so sorry I missed FLOTUS on the Oscars.
Here is Hi-Defenition video of all the awards and presenters for anybody to see overseas or here in the U.S.
Mrs.Obama presenting best picture…. http://oscar.go.com/blogs/real-time/36
Good Night all. Sweet dreams.
Just my opinion, of course.
Good night.
So why do I have to read a national on-line mag to find out what’s happening in my back yard??? No local print, tv, radio coverage…
Hope things ease up for you so you can get some kind of boring weather normality
you got it right, berny-when it comes to weather, boring is excellent!
Hi Berny - we heard Sydney had big storms - Kiama not good - I know that area well - my ancestors settled down that way c.1840
aloha 99
i’ve been back-tracking, trying to catch up with today’s comment threads. so much good conversation here, but more fun in the moment! but that is nothing next to your roof and flooding woes, of course! i can relate, a bit, as we’ve had weeks of rain here, but still perking into the ground so far. our roof is corrugated tin, and only 10 years old, so no troubles there (knock wood!). but i have about a thousand loads of laundry waiting for a sunny day! no dryer, no laundromat within 25 miles, and running out of clean clothes! and the whole house is smelling suspiciously of mildew.
here’s a photo of hawaii folks flocking to snow-capped mauna kea today:

and video at this link, showing some of the fun:
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/21319237/more-snow-expected-for-big-island-summits-sunday
and here it is right now, under the full moon!
http://www.cfht.hawaii.edu/webcams/gemdome/gemdome.jpg
Sorry Susanne - my other half arrived home from work & I had to get dinner. You probably know about the continuous rain - I guess it is better than drought! but it sure just keeps coming - I remember the days before I had a dryer - and when we were in England we used to hang clothes over all the heaters - got somewhat steamy inside!
Those snow pictures are amazing - I didn’t realize there was snow in your world? I’ve only seen snow once - and a very poor example it was - when I was a student. I think I probably prefer the rain
just a few of our mountains get a bit of snow, and not every year. that’s why hawaii people make the long drive just to see it and play in it. i’ve lived in cold-weather places, and the novelty sure wears off fast! i also prefer the rain, and i’m thrilled we’re not having another drought year. yours sounds pretty severe, especially with roof problems. i’m signing off, now, so i’ll leave the tod watch to you! aloha oe~
Be safe 99ts!
thank you Dudette - that damn cloud has been sitting over my town for 2 days - no storm - just rain and rain
I heard some attacking the onion but I didn’t see their tweets - saw people giving Tina Brown a hard time on twitter - justly deserved
http://thegrio.com/2013/02/25/satirical-website-the-onion-criticized-for-vulgar-quvenzhane-tweet/
Who the hell is the Onion, and what is it? The fact that someone or thing think it is funny to make a negative joke about a 9 year old girl, says alot about that person. It says they are full of alot of crap, B.S.
Good Morning! Thought you might like to see Paperman — the oscar-winning animated short.
Just adorable!
Thanks Dudette - too cute
I am so thrilled the President is outlining to the American public what the federal government does for peoples everyday life.
The American public is so unaware what the federal government provides for them.
That’s right mr president, let them see where their tax dollars go, above and beyond anything else!!!
Wow, Jimmy Fallon is on FIRE! On Friday - FLOTUS! The following Friday - Prince!
Prince to appear on Jimmy Fallon’s show Friday
http://thegrio.com/2013/02/24/prince-to-appear-on-jimmy-fallons-show-friday/
Well now we know FLOTUS’ dress was Naeem Khan. Khan also did Stacey Keebler’s dress (George Clooney’s date)!
Michelle Obama presents best picture Oscar to ‘Argo’

Some of her best fashion moments are Naeem Khan. This was a custom dress and it’s STUNNING!!
I was so shocked and thrilled when they announced her last night!! And the audience loved it!!
http://www.alternet.org/most-mass-shootings-target-women-and-families-study-finds-men-legal-guns-are-blame

Urp! Replaced the above to fix typo
The media is tying themselves in knots this morning about the cuts that the Republicans want.
3 cents on the dollar cuts blah blah blah.
Ha!
The Republicans are in trouble!

Thank you, JER
Looking good! Looking really, really good!
Morning, y’all!
Mornin’ vc!
I regret missing FLOTUS last night - didn’t get to watch the OSCARS (nor did I tape it).
Anyway, I’m sure I will have access to an archive somewhere
She looks FANTASTIC!
Yes the motive is MORE than transparent. What the NY Times fails to realize is that this “guilt by association” crap they’re trying to pull with PBO will NOT work. Enough people in America and abroad know and trust our President and pushing this story is actually making the NY Times look very very small.
I didn’t get that message Hopefruit - but I know very little about the Jacksons or Chicago politics
Rupert Murdoch’s paper. Is the NYT own by Murdoch?
I thought Murdoch own the NY Post.
Anniebella, Murdoch does not own the NYT, but he owns the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.
Thanks Bill, I didn’t know. I knew about that rag the NY Post, but not the other. But seem to me the NYT have a problem with POTUS. I think someone mention the other day that POTUS haven’t given a interview to the NYT.

The miracle on guns
“It is amazing what can happen when an empty ideology is confronted by an insistent band of problem-solvers — and when political fear gives way to a fierce determination.”
“Want to see a “REAL” WP reporter ? Watch Kevin Richberg on last night’s c-span Q & A.
Woodward is embarrassing…he is nothing more than an inside the beltway gossip columnist .”
I am taking bets for the first rightwing President Obama-hater who will make the first insulting comments about FLOTUS’ OSCAR appearance
It was Tina brown on twitter - she was well put in her place last night
Huff Puff wins! Typical misleading headline there proclaims that Michelle Obama “crashes” the Oscars.
Do my best to stay away from Huff Puff. Beside it’s strange to crash something when they ask you to come, to announce the winner.
I saw that and read a few comments…..some people think she was actually there….
Morning!

Flotus the coolest first lady ever bar none thats my opinion
okey, you are not alone with that opinion. I agree 100%.
