Sarah Ferris: ObamaCare Sign-Ups Swell To 17.6 Million
A total of 17.6 million people have gained coverage under ObamaCare, according to a revised government estimate. The newest figure, which is based on national survey data, shows that 1.2 million more people had signed up for healthcare over the last five years than previously thought. The revised total includes 15.3 million people who gained coverage through the individual marketplace or through Medicaid. It also includes 2.3 million young adults who gained coverage because they were able to remain on a parent’s plan until they turn 26.
The new data also puts the Obama administration ahead of the health insurance gains estimated by the Congressional Budget Office for 2015. The CBO had predicted roughly 17 million people would gain coverage by 2015. Health and Human Services (HHS) chief Sylvia Mathews Burwell announced the new figure Tuesday during a speech at Howard University Hospital, where she also highlighted the law’s impact on black and Hispanic populations. “This progress has been even bigger for people of color,” she said, pointing to the 10 percent drop in the uninsured rate among black Americans.

I continue to be amazed at the ignorance of the media in their reporting on the pope. It’s like they never heard of social justice and care for the earth as a foundational dimension of religion before.
Perhaps they haven’t. I often wonder where some of them were “hatched.” They don’t land deep on too many issues that they should know about and be well versed in - no depth whatsoever, with some of them. Like the first time they’ve ever heard there are tenets to religion. They seem to have learned from comic books and caricatures. Only. Ugh.

Good Afternoon TOD!
I want to thank everyone who helped visualize and pray for my friend Bob, who underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma two days ago. The surgery went into the night, as the situation was more complicated than they realized, but he made it through! Amazingly, after they removed the huge hematoma his brain just expanded right back to fill the cavity. He is o.k. now, hallucinating a bit, but improving. His wife said he had a near-death experience.
I know without a doubt that the mighty prayers and thoughts of TODers made a difference!

General Hospital actress Nancy Lee Grahn has been put on leave indefinitely by ABC while the network investigates her recent comments towards Emmy winner Viola Davis. It has also been reported that several ABC sponsors have pulled their ads from the network because of Sunday night’s controversy.
I honestly didn’t expect it to go this far, but Black Twitter doesn’t play. In fact, it wasn’t just Black Twitter that came for Grahn. It was Asian Twitter, White Twitter, and every other “Twitter” that got together and dragged her ass. Nancy fucked up. She has been incendiary for so many years and she’s finally getting what she rightfully deserves.
I’ll just be sad if her ignorant remarks get GH cancelled. While it hasn’t been a good show for a while, it’s one of the last remaining soaps that I actually watch.

that is unbelievable. perfect example of all that’s wrong with “the news” nowadays. the owners of the major news outlets only hire people at the lowest pay possible, which means basically interns or beginners, and force out/not hire anyone older with proven experience as professionals, since those people expect to be able to pay for a mortgage from their jobs…crazy idea, isn’t it! that way all the advertising money just gets to trickle-up to the owners and their heirs.
so the industry is filled more and more with people who think “journalism” is just a simple, quick internet search for “jews” and then quickly slap the first image that catches their eye onto the broadcast. quick and easy! i work with a lot people like this, where the extra 10 seconds it takes to do extremely simple research to make sure something is just in the ballpark of true, seems like a huge burden to their attention-defected minds. sad state of affairs. media conglomerates need to be broken up…again…to start moving back into a sane media landscape.
Journalism is dead.
