WTF? Is this a joke?!? Gov Scott refused to debate because Christ has a small fan? #FLGovDebate

Wow. Charlie Crist is just standing there on his own because Rick Scott refuses to take stage over fan. Amazing. pic.twitter.com/zjsArg3unI

Post debate surveys indicate that Crist came in first, Scott third, and the fan a close second.

I wonder if refusing to take the stage for a debate on live TV is disqualifying for @FLGovScott? Let’s ask @chucktodd.

So, basically Scott invoked "Stand Your Ground" over a fan. #FLGovDebate #YesWeFan

The sad part is that it’s hiding from a fan that has made @FLGovScott a natl joke, not overseeing the biggest Medicare fraud in US history

Whoa!
Whoa indeed!
:)
Whaaaaaaaat: Jacqueline?!?!
As rare a FURST as …. what’s that saying about hen’s teeth???
:)
Congrats Mrs. O’Boomer.
:)
Hi Jacqueline! We are fans of you!
And we are fans of you! Ha!
JO’B, I might be your biggest fan!! <3
Right back atcha, darlin’! <3
How are your neighbors behaving tonight?
Downstairs nutcase has calmed herelf down a bit, but upstairs is a true maniac! It sounds like he uses that recliner for a fitness workout, when he really could do well to GO TO THE FITNESS ROOM! Ya think?! Anyway, he has exhausted me for another day, I’m done in! Nite nite all. We do live in interesting albeit a bit scary times. God Bless our PBO.
God Bless PBO! Sweet dreams!
Judith, thank you so much for the pictures from your town hall with VP Biden. I’m so envious. You looked great.
Thanks, sjterrid!
You go gurl!
:)
Congrats Jacqueline!!
Bottom line ….
Good one, Bob!
My thoughts also Bob - what could Gov Christ look up in a fan?
Wow, just popped in as I am getting ready to call it a night and There was the Call to Leave a Message.
Good Evening TOD.
Loads of News to catch up……will do that tomorrow.
Wow…..Rick Scott is that petty? I suppose, he doesn’t need a fan to cool down……his head is bald ;) :?:
Nice going Chips on this thread.
Fangate is still trending on Twitter. LOL!
Thought I’d go for it, even though some reporter will take it as “gospel”!
I read somewhere on Twitter than MSNBC might be canceling Ronan Farrow’s show?
I read somewhere on Twitter that MSNBC might be canceling everything.
😝
Everything except Katy Perry…

MSNBC is now officially, a joke.
bet they’ll start using this old chestnut, “See, people don’t want liberals!!!” and use that false frame to replace with more and more nut job republicans. they were putting out news this week that maddow was dragging them down, so they’re priming the pump for that one too. of course, they never bring up how it’s almost exactly the opposite, and chriss matthews, joescar, etc stay, and look for pat buchanan back on the air soon. such a joke. although, the way the white privilege “progressives” display their obama derangement syndrome basically 100% of the time, doesn’t really matter.
Aw, shucks, I still haven’t had a chance to see his little stupid self… Oh wait! HaHa, make room for another lobbyist, eh?
Yes, they just replace one with another. Same tired old formula - different faces.
Chances are I may not have a chance to see those either!! Hee!
Late to the party?
Ah, it’s JO’B on top of the village!
I get it now……Rick Scott threw a tantrum this evening sucking his thumb about To Fan, or Not to Fan……why?
In 2010, with Alex Sink, during a debate, at one time, Ms Sink was handed an IPhone. No electronic device was allowed. In that debate, Ms Sink looked at the IPhone…..there was a text or something about her baby-sitter or something. Scott made a big deal about it. It went national and Sink lost for she was perceived as having broken the rule and some Nationally, so did Rick Scott and the GOPers, locally, termed Ms. Sink as a cheater.
Rick Scott, had forgotten that in 2010, Floridians gave him the benefit of the doubt……he was was not defined and his Millions dwarfed his Medicare Fraud charges. But today, Rick Scott is known……No Mercy for the man this time around.
Congrats J’OB on your gold ;)
:)
she seems like a really good “in the trenches” worker. the people who actually win elections, that is!
Yes, she’s still going, thankfully. Remember when she appeared before the lawmakers in Texas, around the time Wendy Davis was standing up for Texans!
Old Keith gets in on it.
that was pretty funny. What was more disconcerting was that Gov Scott could not discern the difference between an object that is electric vs. an object that is electronic.
Very true, nospin. I responded to you in the previous thread, as well.
While both categories of devices depend on electrons for power, an electrical device merely performs its function due to the flow of those electrons (typically as AC). An electronic device depends on electrons for power but for FUNCTION and it is non-trivial that the nature of the flow of electrons to electronic devices, for power, is DC.
What Rick Scott did, more than anything else, is reveal the total folly of having anyone, in any form of institutional decision making - government, corporate or private - that not only doesn’t know science, but is anti-science.
And he governs one of the 50 states.
Thanks to The Stupid Party!
Not important, yet my curiosity is scurrying around trying to hit on an answer - why did Crist need a fan under the podium? Was he wearing wool pants, and if so, why wear ‘hot pants’? Neither side makes much sense to me.
The way Crist was smiling, my uneducated guess is, Crist might have known that Fans are irritating to the Medicare Fraud Bald Scott.
I wonder why? When my son was a wee toddler he was afraid of fans, particularly the ceiling kind.
Nowadays, these politicians have detectives that uncover things……..Crist is known to play hard ball.
He managed to get under the Scott’s skin.
That’s a cool theory (Nena) :) …. but, I think, as others have noted, is that it was sweltering hot and Gov Christ didn’t want to be soaked in sweat before the 2nd question was asked :)
it was hot in Fl. 90+ degrees and hot in the building. With the lights on the stage I guess he would have been sweltering in the heat. He wanted to stay cool.
I give him credit. If Nixon had thought of a fan back in the ’60s … well, perish that thought! Although, I think I’m recalling that facial makeup was a big topic with JFK at their debate.
The beat goes on.
Probably did not want to sweat like Nixon did when he lost his debate to JFK.
The dKos article linked to in the previous thread said it was 90F with 93% humidity today in Davie FL.
Ten years ago I spent a lot of time in Orlando (having never visited the state before or since) and I could not get used to the weather — sorry Jovie, CEB and other Floridians. The only time I was there when there weren’t hurricane warnings, downpours and/or oppressive humidity was in April (delightful). I was there over a couple of weekends, but didn’t get out much because of the downpours, and I was convinced that my small rental car would be swept into an alligator-infested lake (which are everywhere). And every building’s windows had water dripping from the inside because of the humidity.
Native Westerner, needed my mountains.
Insult the Voters and still get their Votes? Only in GA and if you have R after your last name.
So the spin starts
And people aren’t buying it - as evidenced by the tweet below. When Buzzfeed Andrew doesn’t buy your propaganda as a GOPer, you’re in trouble….
But Koch Boy made sure he tweeted Scott campaign’s side of it all, Hopefruit. He’s not subtle.
True DAT. But don’t think too many people are buying that spin…
i see dandy andy is calling grimes a “phony” in the tweet below that one. funny how i can’t find andy applying those same kind of standards to a proven liar such as rick scott.
Ah, saw that too 4more….
ha!! okay, spit take on that one!!
I finally woke up and unfollowed him yesterday. He adds nothing to my TL but insipid idiocy.
I seem to be doing a lot of unfollowing lately!
Moooooorning Meta!!!
I can never get over how people see him as a cutesie fun guy - he’s about the worst BuzzFeed has, ceaseless attacks on PBO and Dems, mixed in with his cheeky chappy act. Loathe him.
yea, why would andy feel embarrassment anyway? seems that would only happen if he already feels a personal connection to the fraudster scott.
Speaking of spin…
good catch. it’s so subtle to the casual “news” consumers that they don’t get it, but that’s one of their favorite tricks right there to deflect blame from a republican liar (which is NEVER done for a democrat!). in fact, i see the first reply on that tweet is echoing the same idea - and it’s from a “news” anchor at a big tv station. amazing how coordinated the propaganda machine is now for republicans.
As they say:
In Politics, when YOU are explaining, you are losing.
Rick Scott, a Fan made you Crazy? Hmm?
uhm… does Scott realize there is such a thing as video?
Good.
In 5 controlled CDC cases where Ebola patients were treated……Zero Infections and Zero Deaths.
In TX, one death and 2 healthcare workers got infected.
CDC can ONLY give recommendations……Guidelines. Facts have got to matter.
What does OSHA 1970 law say about this event?
Good evening, TOD!
Chips, loved your tweet, when the shit hits the fan! I couldn’t stop laughing.
I have to go back to read the earlier threads.
Ratings are still flat because the public can see Ebola coverage by the media is over-kill. I only watch the Ebola coverage when PBO has something to say. They ask the same darn questions on every show.
A wonderful story.
weird how the guy is blaming the economy “of the last five years” for his troubles. not sure why they’re ignoring the great recession which started directly from the trickle down economics of republicans, and the economy has been getting substantially better over the last five years.
thing about that issue too, is that people have to make the choice to shop local day in and day out, or it’s not sustainable. the business guy even said he’s not sure it’ll last much longer anyway. in my house we go out of our way to go to local shops we like even though we know we can order it online and it shows up at our door, or we can get it cheaper at a big box. yea, we’ll order things at times or occasionally end up at a multi-national chain, but we’re about 75% local. more and more people need to do that or it’s only going to get worse for the mom and pops.
It looks like my uneducated guess………Crist did a similar thing in 2006
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/15/charlie-crist-debate-fan_n_5993846.html#comments
In August 2006, Crist reportedly also brought a fan onstage during a debate during the Republican gubernatorial primary. Crist’s opponent, Tom Gallagher objected to Crist having the fan onstage. (Crist was then a Republican, but then became an independent in 2010, before becoming a Democrat in 2012.)
“That’s not fair,” Gallagher told the moderators of the debate, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “Get another fan in here or I’m walking out.” The Times reported that debate organizers found another fan and each of the candidates took turns standing in front of it as they spoke.
////
All Scott had to do was to ask for his own little fan ;) :?:
Welp, the shit’s hit the fan, and I’ma going to bed. See all you peeps on the flip side.
damn, KochFeedAndrew is quite the tool, isn’t he? never really looked at his tweets much until now. i see him promoting the certifiable loon dana rorbacher, but i was much more impressed by the person taking on dana, which i don’t think was andy’s intention by highlighting dana:
now that’s a lesson for how to converse with a modern republican, or major “news” person for that matter!
not sure if i’m doing this correctly, but was trying to show this reply by mmoriana:
A damn fan! These are the type of juvenile antics that cost republicans elections. Well, if the people aren’t smart enough to not vote for them because of their nasty policies, then I’ll take stupid #fangate. Ridicule always works. Whatever it takes.
Good night all! ♥ ♥ ♥
Yes, from Perry’s “Oops” to Scott’s #FanGate … ANYTHING to get them GONE!
Sweet dreams, PJ!
For sure, JOB! Thank you. ♥ ♥ ♥
That’ll be something else.
Crist said “Fan me, I am hot”
Scott said “Oh, no, I will not”
Crist said “Looks like Rick’s a Phantom”
Scott said “Nah, I’m throwin’ a Fantrum”
Crist said “My aims and goals are true”
Scott said “Is it hot in here to you?”
so the shit really hit the fan literally, eh?
amazing how stupid half of the US still trusts these punks.
I saw that, too, Bob. Humanity wins out eventually, even if it’s in bits and pieces.
In_Deed, Jacqueline.
Well, I’m outta here - goodnight to you, Bob, and anybody else left standing!
Twitter is on fire tonight. Warning — crappy pic.
I’m a peaceful person, but I’d like to beat that guy to a pulp. However, I don’t want to get near The Hair, even with a 10-foot pole.
Truth be told, although I’m a peaceful person, just writing that made me happy!
Completely amk - saying “both sides” when it was so obvious who was stupid and wrong.
Many more tweets from Elijah J Magnier (@EjmAlrai) covering Gen Allen’s statements if you are interested.

good night TOD
This is major news. The 1% has been squeezing out innovation and it’s happening anyway. It’s been going on behind the scenes and I think there are many breakthroughs we will see soon. Out with the old and in with the new.
….Fusion, the holy grail of nuclear power, creates three to four times as much energy as fission. More importantly, fusion’s key advantage over fission is that it does not produce cancer-causing radioactive waste….
….“It’s safe, it’s clean, and Lockheed is promising an operational unit by 2017 with assembly line production to follow, enabling everything from unlimited fresh water to engines that take spacecraft to Mars in one month instead of six,” ….
Just read the article. Fascinating. Does this type of nuclear energy cause nuclear waste?
I love the picture they have with the article.
….But late last month, the Treasury Department announced executive moves to attempt to curb inversions. The Obama administration said it was acting unilaterally because it could no longer wait for Congress to address the growing trend legislatively.
In an SEC filing Tuesday night, AbbVie specifically cited the Treasury’s actions as a reason for reconsideration of the merger….
The stupid of the GOP is unbelievable - yet the media STILL support them. Listening to the fools at the debate say “both sides”
Why are they not 500% calling out Gov Scott
For Nancy…
Hello Dudette - thought I was the only one awake - thankyou for the music - and the pictures - and thoughts to Nancy.
Getting older brings with it the loss of loved ones - I can’t believe we said goodbye to 3 close family/friends in the past 2 weeks - but we have wonderful memories - they do get us through the nights.
Moooooooorning!
