Fantastic selection, as always, NW!!!!
Great sleight of feet there, Bobfr!
:)
Thanks again for all your efforts re: Fav photos of 2014, VC!
My absolute pleasure, Bfr!

.
Now if only everybody would hurry up and vote!
VC, I went in there and became totally confused, but will try again tomorrow, if I am not under pressure to go anywhere.
Ignore my comments in between, MP, (that’s apart of me fumbling my way along) and simply make one choice for each month, using the letters A, B, C, etc.
VC, I left my choices on a previous thread
TY, SS. If you left it under one of *my* comments, I got it. If you posted them by themselves you need to tell me which thread so I can go hunt them out. I would love to get all the responses, and also get as many villagers participating as possible so that result will truly reflect a group choice.
VC, I’m delurking to give you my choices: Jan.-B, Feb.-A, March-B, April-B, May-B, June-B, July-B, Aug.-C, Sept.-B, Oct.-A, Nov.-C, and Dec.-A. They were all great photos. Thank you for sharing them, they are all winners.
Yardam, thanks for the Christmas greeting in the last thread.
My thoughts and prayers for all those families in Sydney, Australia affected by the hostage situation there.
Thanks a lot, TerriD; I just copied your choices to my master list.
Thank you for doing this.
You can honestly believe it was *my pleasure*, Terri! :) :)
Thanks, Bob.
Wonderful tweets Nerdy, although that Berkeley campus image will haunt. What the fuck is wrong with this planet?
THIS!!!!!! I had NO IDEA THAT HAPPENED!! What the fuck is WRONG with this planet?
I saw a comment about this on Twitter and also on the radio, and found a USA Today article on what happened (includes tweets with pictures).
It sounds like the community and police are confused — they think it might have been done by protesters (not KKK) as a reminder of where we are now — Berkeley is no stranger to extremes, the birthplace of SDS in the 1960s.
That’s what they would like it to be - I have my doubts
Thanks, Chips.
1. Thank you for the beautiful images of our First Family.
2. The Berkley tweet is haunting indeed. Just goes to show that one may be in the most liberal place on earth, but still, racism exists.
Yep, one more day if you want to be in on the (covered) action in January.
Thank you so much, Nerdy. Important and heartbreaking.
You’re welcome, DF.
Who thinks this is even the SLIGHTEST bit ok!! Stand Up, America! Do the right thing!
How can anyone look at @ClaraJeffrery’s tweet with just a fraction of the gun deaths since #SandyHook and think it’s OK???
Was there “Christmas in Washington” before the Obamas? If so, I neither knew nor cared!
Yep. I never heard of it before President Obama.
Yes it was there before the Obamas - but of course - many annual events that include the WH/POTUS and/or First Family have taken on a special significance since 2009…. :) :)
I’m out to tonight…been a day. Tomorrow is another day:)
#TribunalTimeUSA
America becomes ‘exceptional’ when it prosecutes ITs #WarCriminals & holds itself accountable for 400 + years of genocide, slavery, and unrestrained, ongoing racial and gender abuse. Period.
For the media to have Cheney on TV supporting what was done by the Bush administration says all that needs to be said about the US media. There is NO valid way this can be supported - torture is the word that describes what was done.
This was more than an hour ago, but since I don’t have a TV, don’t know if @CNN has switched to CNN International by now — what is the purpose of having a foreign news desk if you’re not going to use it when breaking news happens someplace other than America?
In case you were wondering where ewoks came from:

LIVE NOW: Coverage of the hostage situation in Sydney - http://www.cbsnews.com/liveFeed/widget.shtml
Really like this tweet ….
BernyP is a TODer, right? I thought he was in New Zealand?
So do I Bobfr - the media is revelling in this siege, congratulating themselves on their wonderful coverage, passing on to the hostage taker/s all that the police are doing - etc etc Like in the US, our media breeds hate and fear.
I’ve never been to Australia and have no idea how big this area is, but it looks substantial to me:
Martin place is the business/government Centre of Sydney - it is not the main shopping hub nor a major tourist area - but relatively close to both. I think the police have closed down a much large part of the city than needs to be closed.
I hope @DavidPlouffe was behind this change:
Here’s what prompted Uber’s action:
I hope David Plouffe resigns from that stinking pile of corporate manure real soon now ….
This company has all the wrong instincts.
One of their drivers here ran over and killed a young child in a crosswalk.
David Plouffe, RUN.
OMG, had no idea.
In fact, I know very little about Uber except that the dudebro journalists that I follow seem to think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
Uber is hopefully being fined out of existence in Melbourne (capital of Victoria and 2nd biggest city in Oz). Hopefully the same will happen in Sydney. They make up their own rules which are different every day of the week.
Previous position of Uber:

ABC News (Australia)
I’m on pins and needles about the situation in Sydney — praying for an immediate and non-violent resolution.
Meanwhile:
I confess that stopped listening to radio in the 1970s (after Paliament) because I didn’t like disco (apology to disco fans), but it seems to me that the Clash was the last truly innovative band with a legacy that continues today.
Might help if I spelled Parliament correctly.
3 people are out - not known if they were released or escaped. The police are saying little, hopefully they can help get everyone home safe
I don’t know if this is new info or not, but the tweet’s about 8 mins. old:

good night TOD …
The tweet is in the sidebar and I’ll repeat the ‘good night TOD’ since it’s likely not until later Monday, am EST, that the comment will emerge from moderation :)
Bob, just finished reading your very powerful letter to the President in the tweet in the sidebar. Thank you for all you do. I know more of what’s happening on the ground in int’l events from you, than any of our “news” organizations.
Thank you so much, sjterrid!
Was just finishing a report and have been checking in on the situation in Sydney. Am appalled by what I found on Twitter. The hostage situation is deplorable, for sure. But, the fact that people are taking selfies, drinking beer and treating the situation as some kind of spectator event while a multi-person hostage crisis is underway is simply sick. Hope that the hostages will not be harmed and will be free, soon.
now … good night …
Great Job VC…Jan C/ Feb B/ Mar B/ Apr E/ May B/ Jun B/ Jul A/ Aug B/ Sep B/ Oct C/ Nov A/ Dec A/ you are awesome~
