GM NW, good news!
GM NW and GGail (and congrats on 1st!) !
J’OB, GM and thanks!
Good Morning, GGail. Congratulations, on first.
Did you see Scandal last night? All up in my feelings. I was still messed up two hours after it aired because reality is 100% times worse.
SO. MANY. CONFLICTING. AND. TURBULENT. EMOTIONS.
NW, thanks!
Oh WoW oh WOW. I can’t believe what I saw last night
How does Shonda know just what we need aired for the world to see????
It was like she’s been reading your TOD evening tweet posts NW.
From start to finish, Courtney B. Vance had me shaking. He was stellar. When he kept saying and screaming over and over again, “My son doesn’t carry a knife. MY SON DOESN’T CARRY A KNIFE!!!!”
His gut wrenching pain reminded me of this picture of Michael Brown’s father at his son’s funeral.
Oh you are so right NW. It gripped me too!
Scandal was beyond intense. The very end was unbearable. And yes, reality is so much worse.
All you can say is that Shonda “understands”.
Beyond intense - You said it, Meta.
On one hand, the audience feels wary, because the pain is too soon and you hope the writers are sensitive to that pain and hopefully do the story justice (they won’t and can’t get everything right because, who can?). On the other hand, the dichotomy of hope in fiction (the racist cop getting arrested) and the realities of what actually happens, draws the audience in.
Courtney B. Vance’s acting was heartbreakingly wonderful. The background actors they had who represented the neighborhood were phenomenal, the activist fighting for his community through non-politically correct means, Olivia in the middle of this chaos between fixer and Black woman who could have been the one dead on the ground, the cops, the privilege and hate from that one cop for a people he was sworn to protect.
The news media sometimes ignoring what was going on in their backyard and not showing the injustice, the idea that a cop being arrested is the fairy tale ending in fiction; no guilty verdict. Because even Shonda knows that a guilty verdict for murdering a Black child is right now, so far fetched. Just an arrest; and we can’t even get that in the real world, the father placing the lawn chair over his son’s body to protect him, his fathers tears, that horrifying moment the body bag is zipped up and you see that Black child’s face; and it’s supposed to represent case closed, moving on.
Last night’s episode reached into our hearts and crushed it.
“The very end was unbearable” - This sums it up perfectly, Meta.
You nail every detail. I found it excruciating to watch the father protecting his son by sitting on the chair placed over him. I can’t even imagine what that must have felt like. OMG, just so much going on, brilliant acting everywhere and KW was phenomenal, too. Whew. I found it hard to sleep.
Oh, and then I watched American Crime. OMG.
OMG is right, Meta.
It felt like ABC was trying to kill us last night. If Felicity Huffman’s character had said, “an illegal” one more time with that contempt in her voice, oooooooo…the rage! That she would jump to the conclusion that it’s automatically a Hispanic person that murdered her son was just galling. Then to realize her son wasn’t all that innocent. Hmmm….
I heard a loud noise last night and realized it was me screaming when the cop shot that guy who wasn’t near him, and had his back turned. Too much. Just too much.
What that woman was about to do for $40 worth of drugs. In front of her boyfriend?! What the guy did for drugs? Yikes.
Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, and now, American Crime. One does a *phew!* after surviving a Thursday night on ABC.
elderly white person checking in: the police officer being marched away under arrest was a big moment of relief which i’d like to see happen in real life. (Of course, in the real life I want, no racist cop could ever shoot an unarmed teenager to begin with)
In the real world we have now, Michaels Brown’s parents have been denied that small comfort. Smirking racists walk free.
We have a long way to go to approach justice in our country.
“We have a long way to go to approach justice in our country.” - So true, Vicki. So true.
p.s. “elderly white person checking in” - Hahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha. You’re one of a kind, Vicki.
YES! So many assumptions and stereotypes being portrayed and undermined. When someone says, “hispanic” the assumption is “illegal.” When someone hears about the son and daughter-in-law of a white family, it’s automatically assumed they’re good people and innocent victims. And the cops! I think we’re in for a very rocky ride with this show, too. And some major truth-telling. John Ridley is not playing.
I’m excited that television has finally been laying down some excellent drama. And POC are finally being given a stage to tell our stories. It’s gripping and it’s real. Stay tuned!
It was a powerful episode. When Olivia went to the father and showed him what his son Brandon was reaching I suddenly began sobbing and could not stop. It was a piece of paper a receipt. OMG! Just makes my eyes well up with tears.
Good Morning TOD family and Hello GGail. Congrats on being furst and looking forward to seeing you after work.

I’ll see what I can come up with.

What I love most about the pics of individuals who attend the president’s events is that they look like what America really looks like—a tapestry of people of different races, classes, and genders, all united and standing together. When I see the crowds attending GOP events, I get depressed because I know that the attendees don’t mind at all if all of them look the same.
Thanks a gaaaaaaaaaaaaazillion Nerdy!!!!
You’re welcome, Mrs. Di María.
Good Morning T0DVIlle!
Thank you, NW.
You’re welcome, NCLB.
I can’t get enough of those JOB numbers!!!
the republicans will doubtless say this is all Obama’s fault and will try to impeach him over this.
Funny how EU stocks are in double digits and positive in 2015. US has far better Economic Success. Germany’s Stock is over 11.5K….never before in her history…..UK is nearly 7K and CAC…..France is nearing 5K…….yet US Stock Markets have been timid since last Nov?
The Dow is once again……being played by the few who would want uncertainty in the Markets with the public……thank goodness they are failing…….but the irony is still baffling and not factually based when compared with the strength of US Economy.
We See Them……as the goal post is once again being moved when judging the economic success by one Pres Obama to the 43rd POTUS who came before him.
Our resident Air Traffic Controller is on the job! :D

That plane is humongous!
BTW I was talking to a student in the architectural design class I’m going into. He is graduating this month and already has a job as a MEP designer with a big firm. It’s a salary job but from my understanding pays well.
The job placement in this program has picked up big time compared to 2008 and 2009.
posted earlier didn’t realize that a new post was already up.
POTUS came out. Saw him with Clyburn.
Representative Clyburn deserves this proud moment with President Obama in his state of South Carolina :-)
So true!
Last night I was dwelling on NYT’s and others were ignoring that the combative military deaths were way down and instead pushed this 62% of those polled wanted us to put American boots on the ground against ISIL. That sounds suspiciously like RW talking points. Anyone know who they polled demographically? The NYT was also the paper revealing the Clinton email so called scandal. Did Murdock buy them or something?
Jacqueline!!!!
You are too tough with these tweets girl.
“We’ve already had one comb-over from New York.”
ROFL!!!!
Oh gosh GGAil. It was awful watching him, muted. His hair - eek. His tongue darts out when he talks like a snake. Then he starts pushing words out the side of his mouth like Cheney. I had to go easy on him in the tweets because - as I said - eek. :) That pompous a$$ thinks he should run for President? Uh, no.
They better be careful…..her emails about where and what Patraeus was doing that night may come back and bite them in ass.
Hadn’t thought of that ! Hope they do. Big time.
My three tweets in one comment were too hot to handle for WP, I guess. Ha! Take your time releasing ’em, moderator, ’cause they were only about ugly Pataki.
They are now posted for the world to see J’OB :-)

Oh, well!!
Awaiting President Obama’s Remarks at Benedict College - http://www.cbsnews.com/liveFeed/widget.shtml
Chuck Todd has gotten the saliva back in his mouth, all juicy, saying things like “Clinton World” to Andrea Mitchell.
He and Andrea also just tried to put the onus on President Obama (“he must have emailed Hillary from his blackberry”). Oh, juicy.
Chuckie says the “bigger issue” in 2016 is gonna be foreign policy, since the economy and jobs are “through the roof” now (he didn’t mention that last part … I’m just filling in for his blank head).
Haven’t spotted his face in a while (never watch him; never watch Andrea; couldn’t get to the remote fast enough today) - he seems older, thinner, drawn, near tears, how are those MTP ratings going, Chuckie?

REPORTER CASSIE POPE SAYS RESPONSE TO HIM IS DIVIDED THERE….MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH HER LUNCH!
Yep….
They more Tribal, Racist, Bigoted and Prejudicial they become. Hate is such a crippling illness.
I think John Harwood was one of the reporters who were invited to an off-the-record chat with the President in the last several days … think I’ll try to watch what he tweets, to grab an idea of what possibly was off-the-record. This is a good one for him to call out, but Harwood occasionally swings the wrong way, in my book.
I can’t help but notice how the media points out how the wages are barely rising and fail to mention how congress (republicans) have refused to raise the minimum wage.
Yep.
The News Media Never mentions that not only the TBGOPers in Congress have rejected any increase in the Fed Minimum Wage……but they have also refused Closing Tax loopholes, Funding Infrastructure and that Reaganomics is a Failure.
They Never mention that the GOP engineered a Coup d’etat on Jan 20th, 2009 and have instigated and carried out all Fed Gov’t shutdowns since 1990s.
I live in Washington State (Seattle) and the minimum wage is close to ten dollars an hour (we have one of the highest in the nation) and the job market is very steady and positive. Not perfect mind you but we’re doing far better than Mississippi who have the lowest wage in the country.

OH WOW….PRECIOUS ONE………………..LISTENING TO THE JAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…AWESOME!
Has anyone in the media asked Clyburn why he voted for Keystone and why he voted to override the veto yet ?
I think it’s because some labor unions support building the pipeline. There are some divisions in the base between labor and environmental activists when it comes to keystone. I guess unionized workers are going to be hired to build it if it goes through.
I guess unionized workers are going to be hired to build it if it goes through.
In their dreams - not if the GOP has any say in it
As an aside, used to be more like old folks and college-age kids! My sister and my grandmother used to write letters to each other, 150 years ago, and talk about the characters in their “stories” as though they were their next-door neighbors!
I agree - show some #ObamaInSC !
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress was eloquent, moving and intelligent in identifying the problems with the potential nuclear deal with Iran. But when describing the alternative to it, Netanyahu entered never-never land, painting a scenario utterly divorced from reality. Congress joined him on his fantasy ride, rapturously applauding as he spun out one unattainable demand after another.
Netanyahu declared that Washington should reject the current deal, demand that Tehran dismantle almost its entire nuclear program and commit never to restart it. In the world according to Bibi, the Chinese, Russians and Europeans will cheer, tighten sanctions, and increase pressure — which would then lead Iran to capitulate. “Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough,” said Peter Pan.
clip
So why have Bibi’s predictions been wrong for 25 years? A small part of it has been Western and Israeli sabotage that impeded Iran’s progress. But even the most exaggerated claims by intelligence agencies would not account for a delay of more than a few years. The larger part is probably that Iran has always recognized that were it to build a bomb, it would face huge international consequences. In other words, the mullahs have calculated — correctly — that the benefits of breakout are not worth the costs. The key to any agreement with Iran is to keep the costs of breakout high and the benefits low. This is the most realistic path to keeping Iran from becoming a nuclear weapons state — not Peter Pan dreams.”
Interesting that it was tweeted with comment by the NSC :)
EXCELLENT BOBFR………….TRUE INDEED….AND FRANKLY THE GOP DOES NOT REALLY CARE ABOUT THESE ISSUES…THEY FEEL THEY CAN JUST RELY ON BOMBING EVERYONE! THEY DON’T EVEN WANT TO TAKE CARE OF OUR MILITARY WHEN THEY COME HOME…BUT THIS PRESIDENT CARES. THE ONLY THING THAT RATTLES THE REPUGNANTS IS THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMEONE REMOVING THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS AND THEY SEEK TO HIDE MOST OF THOSE OVERSEAS……….EVIL PERSONIFIED AND THE DAMN TIE DOESN’T DRESS UP THEIR DECEITFUL INTENTIONS.
THE MEDIA IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OVERLY EXAGGERATED…THEY MAKE FORD’S CRASH SOUND LIKE FLIGHT 800…LAST NIGHT THEY WERE BLAMING HIM FOR PARKING SO CLOSE TO HOUSES…YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME….ME THINKS INDIANA JONES NEEDS TO PAY THEM A VISIT! RIDICULOUS!…NO MOVIE PASSES FOR THOSE KIDS!

I love my President Obama, but these people have GOT to be crazy. PBO is coming to LA on March 12th for a DNC fundraiser. This is the first step in my invitation. The next step is to be able to afford the $33,400 per couple.
Since PBO has already completed his term in office…DNC can kick rocks!
Moving Forward in 2015/2016
President Obama
We are excited to share that Chris Silbermann and Julia Franz will host President Obama in Los Angeles the evening of Thursday, March 12th for a roundtable discussion. President Obama will join us for one hour of open discussion where he will take your questions in an off the record conversation with a limited number of guests. All guests will have the opportunity to take a photo with President Obama as well. We hope you can attend what is sure to be a very special event.
The cost of attendance is $33,400 per couple and all contributions benefit the Democratic National Committee as we build for 2016. As the presidential primary unfolds, the DNC is in a unique position to build out services and tools that will provide the eventual nominee and candidates up and down the ticket with a significant tactical advantage going into the general election. In 2015 the DNC is focused on investing resources in opposition research and press, the voter file and analytics infrastructure, voter protection, and building our state networks.
The invitation is attached with instructions to complete your RSVP. Because each person has to be vetted and because only a very limited number of people can attend, please email
Afternoon everyone! I’ll have a heads-up for PBO’s townhall in 20ish mins.
I have to laugh at the media coverage now versus 5-6 years ago. All they would talk about is doom and gloom and paint the president and democrats in a negative light. Now that the economy is gaining strength they have little to say.
