History made
It’s a beautiful day
Indeed it is
Perfect! This is how I feel after this week’s decisions and how I felt landing at Tom Bradley terminal and seeing PBO’s face welcome me home on Monday!
I just emailed my sister and her wife to tell them when they come from their vacation (they’re in England right now), they’ll be returning to a New America!!! #LoveWins
:-) Indeed!
I was hoping the impromptu choir outside SCOTUS would sing this one too, not only the anthem, which IMO should be replaced by this. Enough with the war songs, let us rejoice in what beauty we have left in this country!! <3 Thank you, Dudette.
And thank you Mightly P for your encouraging words before my move and trip to Italy!
Thank you Nerdy - and for some wonderful thoughts - the funeral of Clementa C. Pinckney

“His advocacy for the least of us, reflected the best in us”
for me, this is the most significant event of this year.
me: so, how was your day?
du: dad, I’m in library.
me: so?
du: daaad.
smh
 LL will whip yer ass!
librarians - always asking peeps to shut up / smh
I’d imagine you would be a librarian’s walking, talking nightmare.
librarians, hostel wardens, teachers - unfunny lot
Hostel wardens
I’m afraid to ask.
friggin’ jesuit college. (eye roll)
I was the only one who get sent to
detention wardbuckingham palace twice. And I was there only one year. 8-)apparently effing jesuits don’t like talking back to them. fuck their ‘silence hour’.
‘Give me the Child and I’ll Give you Amk’
Jesus, not a great ad for them.
their fault they gave me a seat in their college ‘based on merit’. that’ll teach ’em.
Thanks a gazillion Nerdy, fantastic news!
Thank you Nerdy-Legend! Thank you BlogDivaDeliciosa Chips!
:)
Wow!!
Ah, amazing!
rrright, now the fucker wants to get on the groovy train. fuck him and his ilk.
The last two are because of the first one :-)
exactly. if the fucker had only said that.
Yeah, Amk, so many like Ezra Klein like to pretend that all this just sort of happened by some strange coincidence or that these profound changes in law, custom, economy, opportunity and attitude are the result of twitter trends or flash mobs or “push back” from media attention seekers, instead of the relentless determination, diplomacy and work of President Barack Obama.
yup. all 3 events he mentions happened due to one man.
Good point, the first one is because of his relentless determination, diplomacy and work as well. If HRC had even half of his qualities, that ceiling would have been broken first.
I think a lot of people would have including me after seeing these battles play out for so many years.
2004 - 2015, we still laugh at you Ezra who cares what you think.

WATCHING ON CSPAN RIGHT NOW…………
Can’t stay awake any longer - pls can you link to the eulogy from the President so I can watch it in the morning - have to get SCOTUS to do something about these time zones.
The GOP primaries are going to seem surreal (aren’t they always?). All the candidates offering nothing but fear, hate, Obama is terrible and tax cuts. That’s all we’re going to see with little variation. They’re bankrupt.
They have poll tested the meme…”taking away our religious freedoms” and trust me this is going to be their theme. It’s a scare tactic that they all will use. I wish someone would put up a large fee for people to send in pictures of all these Republican hypocrites who show outrage over this ruling but have attended same sex weddings and/or receptions. Their followers would be amazed.
yup, already walker, huckster, bobby fucking jindal are doing exactly that.
and you thought you had seen it all in 2012. ha.
hey, wingnuts. your 1%er owners have spoken. will ya stfu now?
Hello TODers,
I just returned from Italy. Ironically, while I was eating lunch in a restaurant in Rome, there were a group of men from “Lega Nord” a right-wing, secessionist, anti-immigrant and all the rest of it party, in town from Milan to protest Gay Marriage. They were upset because they had been surprised by another group who showed up to protest them :-)
I told my friend about how PBO has done more for Gay people than any president, how I had good, affordable health care because of him.
I also read an excellent article on the shooting in Charleston in “La Republica”, one of the more liberal of the mainstream newspapers there. It went in-depth into the history of the flag and touched on many things that the US press usually refused to address, such as the fact that the election of the first black president has actually exposed and intensified racism, rather than lessen it.
I am in joy today over this week’s Supreme Court decisions, and in sadness over yet another tragic display of the evil that is too often ignored or brushed aside here.
But I am even more deeply thankful for this once in a lifetime leader, who has brought this country kicking, screaming, whining and complaining, into the 21st century. The United States is truly blessed to have him.
What a fabulous week for our fabulous President. I am sooooooo happy!
When this decision came out this morning I was genuinely happy for those that fought for this day.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas invoked the spectre of slavery in his dissent to today’s monumental Supreme Court ruling legalizing same sex marriage nationwide. Thomas joined Justices Roberts, Scalia, and Alito in his dissent, but it was Clarence’s opinion that struck the most offensive tone.
A large portion of Thomas’s argument focused on what he described as the inappropriate comparison between the robbing of “dignity” from gay people to that of other historically marginalized groups.
“The corollary of that principle is that human dignity cannot be taken away by the government,” Thomas wrote in his dissent. “Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved.”
The Bush-appointed Justice went on to further compare the conversation pertaining to the rights of LGBT people to that of Japanese Americans detained during World War II.”
http://fusion.net/story/157284/clarence-thomass-jaw-dropping-gay-marriage-dissent-slaves-did-not-lose-their-dignity/
He has claimed that he never experienced discrimination growing up in Georgia.
He has also stated that growing up his father told him to mind his business and keep his head down. Basically try to be invisible to white people.
That was and is today what racist wants from AAs. By being quiet and keeping his head down he reaped the benefit of ALL THE AA’S BEFORE HIM THAT STOOD UP, HEAD UUNBOWED, AND SPOKE UP. This explains so much about way he attributes so little….he’s STILL afraid. It eats him up inside to see men like MLK, PBO and Rev/State Senator Clementa Pinkney who hold their heads high and do great things.
IN LINE….WAITING FOR PBO AND THE EULOGY….:(
Sending comfort to one and all.
The life of this president.
Thanks Nerdy, for compiling and sharing all of this.
Amazing week, unless you happen to be Pres Clinton, for reality is that President Obama has not only prevailed on healthcare for all Americans, he’s also destroyed DOMA and begun rectifying NAFTA.
#TrustBarack
p.s. Happy Birthday RanMan
bbl ….
Well Bob, when you put it like that.
The Catalyst is State Sen Obama in 2004.
The Journey started in Feb of 2007……the Birth of Hope & Change.
The Realization was in Nov 2008.
The Work began in Jan 2009……………………Oh what Hard Work it has been…..
The Continuation was Cemented in Nov 2012…….with some hiccups in 2010 and 2014.
Dragging We The People……kicking and Screaming, above all crude and cruel actions by many on the right, left and the News Media……..The Hope and Change stayed Steady…….as Mrs Michelle Obama told Us.
6 and Half years later………. #FORWARD! Hope and Change! Obama transcends a Nation. Oh Yeah, what a RIDE!
We are In a LIVING HISTORY ever since :)
All of this. **************************************************************
It’s started ….

This is a repost of a comment I made on October 14, 2013, during the height of the panic about the ACA website rollout. It seems fitting for the end of such an historic week in the Age of Obama:
“Someone commented that he/she was worried about PBO being erased from history books, I, for one do not share that concern. They will try, but PBO’s impact on this nation will be so huge, that erasing him will be a fool’s errand. We are living in historic times and are too close to events to realize their true historic import. Millions of children are growing up only knowing a black man, PBO, as President of the United States. They take for granted something that I and millions of other Americans (black and white) never thought we would live to see. To millions of young people alive during the attacks of 9/11/01, the nations biggest enemy was OBL and President Obama vanquished him. They will love PBO just as conservatives love Reagan for his role in the collapse of the Soviet Union (I don’t agree with their view of Reagan’s role, but you get my point). Soon, the benefits of the ACA will be taken for granted like Medicare and Social Security. There will soon be a generation of Americans who could not imagine a world without ObamaCare. These are the reasons the GOP/MSM/Racists are freaking out. These should be the reasons we swell with pride and face the future with optimism and HOPE.”
Less than two years later, and the list of huge victories PBO has won for the American people and the world has only grown. We truly are living in historic times.
Spectacular comment in 2013 and so moving today.
In 2007 we saw The Promise. Now is The Fulfillment. The Promise Kept.
