Congratulations, DF! Kids are kids all over the world. I still think it’s a crying shame that little children who crossed into the US in the summer of 2014 were spit on and screamed at instead of being treated with compassion. Damn Boehner and his GOP cronies for blockading the Senate CIR bill instead of bringing it to the House floor for an up or down vote. They seem to have gone all in on cheating for 2016 instead of addressing comprehensive immigration reform. The rhetoric from Trump on down is hateful!
How can any of us imagine the relief of these young people, after what they may have witnessed and survived? That children are able to live in the present, to set down the agony their families have been living, and to laugh and use their active kinds, this is how the future will be shaped and assured. Light and Love all around the powerful Souls in these young bodies. <3
We cannot imagine it, which I think is all the more reason I am happy to see there’s still laughter inside them. It’s my belief that if they can still laugh, there’s greater hope for our future as a human race.
Are you in January *already*? Pleeeaaase, Hopef, January is synonymous with cold, let’s hang on to summer a bit longer, not to mention fall! Horsey, you keep your pretty piebald (if that’s what you are) self quiet there!!!
Hehe…Horsey is having a blast. She doesn’t care about the season/weather…all she knows is that she can’t wait to watch her President give his final SOTU address :):)
I on the other hand, am holding on to the last bit of summer, just like you vc :)
Alright, if we both hold tight we may just be able to delay the winter. :) I have no wish to spoil my fall by anticipating snow shoveling - it’ll be more than enough when it arrives in its season!
Hi everyone. Another long day with friends and I just read Bob’s explanation of the Iran Vote numbers and machinations. Wow. What would we do without the smart folks on this website?
THANK YOU Bob!!!!
Like others here have mentioned I did not understand the games. I thought that all we needed to do was get to 41.
Now I have a (slightly) better understanding and look forward to the end of this entire matter.
Too sweet for words.
I <3 it.
She didn't want Mommy to go. Yet she accepted that Momsy will return. Then the little child walks off, independently. Children are in_deed our futures.
OMG! Soooo sweet!
This reminds me of a good friend of mine. She works in the corporate cosmetics world and has an office at home. When her boys were toddlers and she needed to work she would tell them, “Not now, Mommy has business papers.” meaning they needed to leave her alone. One day, her oldest walked up, tugged on her skirt hem, looked up at her and said with a sad, sweet voice, “Mommy, no more business papers!”
That just did her in. She decided to quit her corporate job and become a yoga teacher so she could stay home with them. It was a struggle, but she made it work (and was an AMAZING yoga teacher, I might add… my mentor). When they got older, she went back to the corporate world. Her youngest is now an Oregon Duck and her oldest, the one who tugged on her skirt, just started UCLA :-)
"Climate change is not just affecting spectacular views like this. When you have warming taking place twice as fast here in Alaska as it is in the bottom 48 states, that is melting glaciers and blocks of ice that are raising sea levels and you start getting an accelerated pace of climate change overall. So we've got to do something about it. The good news is we can if we take some smart steps now." —President Obama on why we need to keep up the fight against climate change #ActOnClimate Click the link in our bio for more photos from the President's trip to Alaska.

I have just heard on BBC that over 10K Syrian Refugees have crossed in to Austria.
Hungry…..the Gov’t should be ashamed of themselves.
That last line! Oh yes, no matter what universe or what point in time and space you are, your woman knows what you’re up to!
I believe the equation is: 1 = 0.999999999… 0.99999… being the number of times she didn’t say anything and 1 being the time she finally decided she’d had enough. :-)
I can’t bear to read that, but I believe I heard that the father said something like he was going to bury his sons, and then sit by their grave and wait to die. This family suffered and lost, but no one will forget them - and many other refugees, I also believe, will be helped because of their tragedy. Rest in peace, little boys.
It very possible that I maybe in the minority here for saying this….so pardon me in advance.
I was always Never a fan of Record Filibusters engineered over the years by McConnell in the US Senate.
I wanted a Vote in the Senate for the #IranDeal. I am okay with Pres Obama using his Veto pen on this. Pres Obama has always proven his determination, strength, firmness and his unabashed zeal for Peace.
Here is why.
The Iraq war, there was a vote count. History recorded it.
To seek PEACE, it is ONLY appropriate for Dems in my opinion to demand a rigorous debate, then a Vote. This way, the GOPers can Never skirt away from their Votes for War.
Iran has Never wanted war with US. They will abide by the P5+1 agreement. They have, thus far. History will once again prove those who voted No for the warmongers that they are.
I certainly disagree. This is an agreement among nations and it would be best to not have PBO have to use his veto. PBO being forced to use his veto pen would be because the Iran Deal did not have the support of his own party (which would not be the best look on the world stage). In reality and according to precedent, Congress should not have a vote on this deal anyway. Since all the GOPers running for president are on record being against the Iran Deal I don’t see any chance of them or any Republican “running away” from their opposition. The filibuster is not in and of itself “bad”. Don’t let the abuse of filibusters by the GOP color your perception of the Dems using a filibuster on this occasion. To do so would be an embrace of the “both sides do it” nonsense that removes context and historical precedent from political discussions.
The Republicans have so messed up the workings of Congress that it has made it difficult IMO for the average citizen to get a handle on what is the norm and what the norm should really be. They have done such a ‘good’ job screwing up previously workable systems and replacing them with garbage that going forward *their* messed-up alternatives will now forever (?) be a part of the dialogue. Such a shame, really that they were never called out enough for this, Even now, I cannot recall hearing of *one* major news report on the fact that ALL Republicans have chosen to vote against the #IranDeal. I probably should say ‘have been ordered to’ instead of ‘chosen’. This is a transaction involving the major countries of the world, and (whether they can legitimately scuttle the deal or not) the fact that Republicans get a pass with not showing leadership is sad. There is no way it should be acceptable for an entire party of elected officials to shirk their paid duty! While I want the Democrats to vote in support of the deal (because I believe it’s the right thing to do), it bothers me that they are, and have been, single handedly running the government. Every time there is a major national decision the Democrats are the ones being forced to bear the brunt of decision making. It’s ‘not fair’ that they are almost always the only part of the government feeling the pressure and making concessions. {And somewhere along the way I think I got all convoluted but I’m just leaving it.)
They are also attempting to do the same with SCOTUS and the courts. When they agree - the courts are fantastic - when they disagree - liberal courts - unconstitutional. The GOP yell so loudly the only way the dems get a look in is by quietly following the law and precedent.
I agree also that the dems are carrying the load - the GOP - 100% votes NO and most don’t even understand what is at stake. The current refugee crisis is a direct result of people voting on foreign issues with the only consideration being - The USA will win the war! Absolute lack of any planning as to what would happen after Iraq was bombed into submission. For the last year of WWII there was as much effort put into planning the peace as there was to winning the war.
What worries me most, TS, is that by doing nothing Republicans are systematically and methodically destroying much and because the MSM is so dumb, partial, or whatever, they have encouraged their irresponsible and dangerous behaviour. There’s no way Republicans should have been allowed to get away with collecting salary while they consistently try to destroy the country. The MSM should have been sounding the alarm en masse for years now. What the Repubs have been doing is *criminal* - I think.
The present day GOP would not be able to exist without a complicit media. It did not happen by chance. GOP policies favor corporations and 1%ers through its no tax/no regulation policies. Corporations and 1%ers own the media and use that control of media to help the GOP gain/maintain political power so GOP can implement their desired policies. That is why all cable news is basically different shades of the same shit.
The internet is a vital asset in disseminating information and countering the propaganda. Most of the GOP’s obstruction has been tolerated because of racial politics (i.e., folks accept fuck up roads because it is framed as opposing the Black President). When PBO finishes his term that weapon will not be available to the GOP and a little sanity may return to Washington. The role racism and animosity toward the first Black President has played in the insanity that has beset Washington (and the country) cannot be overstated.
So, in a sense, we wait. Sigh. (TY for responding.)
ps: I’m dreaming that the ‘first Black President’ will be instrumental in directing some intelligent and directed pushback post WH. He (and Michelle) would, I think, be the most credible person(s) to lead a revitalized citizen movement towards a more participatory democracy.
It’s my personal dream when I want to perk myself up from the political mess I see.

For someone who wants to be president he should try to educate himself on these matters instead of tweeting nasty things about immigrants, Megen Kelly, and Univision.
Just reeling at the thought of this man being President - I guess the only state dinners would be for people from Europe and down under who refuse to take in refugees.
I’m reeling at the fact he has the seeming unchallenged freedom to prance and strut and insult so many people, cultures or nations under the guise of running for the US presidency. The GOPs have stripped away most of the ‘exceptionalism’ that surrounded running to lead the most powerful country and has turned the run into a farce.

Children laughing and smiling. Nothing better…especially children of war.
Congrats df and I couldn’t agree with you more!
Thanks Chips and NW :)
Congrats df on #1- very moving photo indeed! Bless the volunteers who helped to brighten their day.
Thank you, Chips. Beautiful photo.
How was your ‘young one’s’ *adult* par-tay?
I think he’s still partying:) I haven’t seen him since Thursday. Seriously.
You both work too much! You need to coordinate some ‘healthy sense of leisure’ to celebrate this milestone together. :D :D
Congratulations, DF! Kids are kids all over the world. I still think it’s a crying shame that little children who crossed into the US in the summer of 2014 were spit on and screamed at instead of being treated with compassion. Wooot! Medal sweep! Way to go, Df!
Hmmmm ..’A healthy sense of leisure’…. I like that. In fact I’m working on that one each chance I get/can.
I should listen to this man…leisure is definitely something I need more of!
:) You really should listen, DF ….. before you get to the stage where you won’t know *what* to do with free time when you do get it.
How can any of us imagine the relief of these young people, after what they may have witnessed and survived? That children are able to live in the present, to set down the agony their families have been living, and to laugh and use their active kinds, this is how the future will be shaped and assured. Yes, thanks!

Speaking of young ones, this video will make you melt. What child or parent hasn’t had this moment?
Dangit! I was hoping the video would show here w/o having to leave the site.
Testing.
Watch this video, everyone. Super sweet.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Little sweetness:)
♥ ♥ Now that’s my kind of baby - I love children who are rational/reasonable. ;) :D :D That little miss I’d babysit and have fun doing it too!
Same here 😍
Too sweet for words.
I <3 it.
She didn't want Mommy to go. Yet she accepted that Momsy will return. Then the little child walks off, independently. Children are in_deed our futures.
This is a child who (IMO, from past experience) has the confidence and trust in her mother (parents) to keep her word.
Awww…that is an awesome story. Grown ups should listen to their babies more often.
I’m ready to quit my job RIGHT now and go take care of that little baby. Awwwwwwww! “don’t leave me”
Said the same. “Hey lady, I’ll watch her.” 😍😍😍
Oh.My.Goodness.
Such a precious little thing! I would’ve probably quit my job on the spot too….
Right? oh, man.
OOOOOOMMMMMMGGGGGG - I’m in shreds!!!!!
For one second, I thought Obama was standing in a hole. LOL…need to get my eyes checked.
:) :) :)
:D :D
/waving … I’m over here/ Hi, GoB!
Hey, hey VC! 😄😄

Yes, that’s right.
OMG, This reminds me of the sketch from Key & Peele last week. I with I knew how to bring it here. Peele was Tyson in a sketch.
This?
Yes! Thank you.
It was GREAT - especially at the very end! (Sent it to my friend, who’s a YOOGE Neil fan!)
That last line! Oh yes, no matter what universe or what point in time and space you are, your woman knows what you’re up to!
I believe the equation is: 1 = 0.999999999… 0.99999… being the number of times she didn’t say anything and 1 being the time she finally decided she’d had enough. :-)
Hilarious! I love Key and Peele.
I love them, too! And what you wrote!
:-) Yay! I knew I wasn’t alone out there in the mathematical universe :-)
Well, don’t bring “math” into it with me!
Yes, everyone should just calm down and wait another couple hundred years for the dust to settle. Ugh.
I can’t bear to read that, but I believe I heard that the father said something like he was going to bury his sons, and then sit by their grave and wait to die. This family suffered and lost, but no one will forget them - and many other refugees, I also believe, will be helped because of their tragedy. Rest in peace, little boys.
Didn’t his wife die too, JO’B? I thought I saw that somewhere yesterday but I haven’t heard anything else related to her.
Yes, I believe she did. I think I saw that today. Poor man.
Sigh! Some people get so much to bear in this life. Hope he has the strength and support to weather this going forward.
I do, as well. Seems as though relatives have been speaking up, and appears those around him in some of the images are supportive.
You might need to click the picture to see the whole thing…

Thanks so much, Chips. <3
Simply beautiful……and succinct.
Thanks, jojo!
“Knew I could be you and you could be me”
Beautiful Jacqueline!
PBO has that knowledge in his heart and that is why he is such a transformative leader and why many of us TODers love and admire him.
Thanks - and, yes, PBO is his brother’s (and sister’s) keeper, for sure.
Beautifully stated! Thank you.
Don’t know how it landed here. This is in response to J’OB
Thank you.
Our TOD bard is awake!
I’m generally awed at how the words flow to and from you, JO’B.
Right back atcha, VC. (And thanks.)
BRavoooooooo…..JackieO…Bravoooooo

{{Jacqueline}}, beautiful!

so sad J’ob, and haunting.
It’ll haunt all of us for quite some time.
it needs to. We are our brother’s keeper.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you dear {{{{{{Jacqueline}}}}}}

Thank you so much MadameSoph. The lady who started CP has such a big heart and needs all the help with food.
This image cracked me up! Can’t wait to see Joe sitting behind him. The other guy? Not so much.
That’s #TGIT premiere.
More good stuff.

I don’t think he really wanted to be Prez until he got going, and saw all the Stepford adulation he started getting. But otherwise I agree!
To me the Donald represents the so called “Ugly American” perfectly, and just after PBO restored America’s image around the world.
