President Barack Obama makes Thanksgiving Day phone calls from the Oval Office to U.S. troops stationed around the world, Nov. 26, 2015 (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
Congrats on being FURST Anna :) I just finished my delicious, mac & cheese and greens & corn. Now all I have left are the dinner rolls :) My husband of course is kicked back watching a game with our precious chi Caleb.
Oh Donna, what a delight!! And their little shoes have heels on them just like big girls. I’ll bet they stole everyone’s hearts at your Thanksgiving dinner. What was their favorite thing to eat?
I thought the same thing. :) More like Grandma has placed her there like it’s St. Lucy’s Day in Scandinavia. I do, however, guess that the little darling will think of it as a treasure. My second guess is that she’s the one who will love starring in the school plays. :)
Donna, these two are so beautiful, their intelligent, sweet faces are mesmerizing. Then the outfits and rocking chairs catch the eye and OMG! This is a picture for the ages. Thank you so much for sharing.
Donna! They are just beautiful! Didn’t notice the Santa Lucia effect until I read the other comments :-) This one will end up in the rehearsal dinner photos years from now :-)
Donna, oh how precious and beautiful the twins are. I know you are so thankful for your grandbabies on this Thanksgiving Day. Have a great day Donna and do enjoy your precious gifts. HZ
2015 National Christmas Tree Lighting To Star Miss Piggy As Special Guest
// An international celebrity, television and feature film star, best-selling author, supermodel, and fashion icon, Miss Piggy will help kick-off the holiday season at the 93rd annual National Christmas Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 3, 2015, on the Ellipse at President’s Park (White House). The event can be seen on public television throughout the month of December. For broadcast times, check local listings or the National Christmas Tree Lighting website.
“I am so thrilled to be part of the National Christmas Tree Lighting, I hear this year’s tree will be almost as bright, shiny and dazzlingly beautiful as moi!” says Miss Piggy. //
putin vs erdogan. two megalomaniacs with brute mandates from their own citizenry and with exactly opposite ulterior motives, fighting in a already volatile area. what could go wrong?
Hey stranger, did you see my personal Thanksgiving message for you? I swear, I have to make an appointment to see you these days [and I never know when I’ll be around. ;) ]
Does anyone recall taking any significant interest in previous (i.e., prior to 2009) Thanksgiving/Christmas/Holiday activities at the WH - such as:
1) The Turkey Pardoning
2) The First Family’s Thanksgiving community service..
3) The White House Thanksgiving menu
4) The deliverance of the WH Christmas tree on Black Friday
5) The National Christmas Tree Lighting
6) Christmas in Washington
As in: never in my life . Although I seem to have a vague memory of my Dad bringing some of us into the city when we were young, to watch the tree lighting. Not every year, I think.
Well, felicitations! Will the newly weds be returning overseas (or are they settling in the brand new furnished house uncle gave them for a wedding present)? /just yanking your scrooge-y chain with the question - no answer needed/ :D:D

Everyone wants to remove Assad…Except Russia…Vicki’s idea about a naval base there …could change that…not sure however if Turkey would feel that good about have Putin in their back yard…
Tut-tut, Hf! Now why are you trying to get the wackos to intensify their “appreciation” of PBO? They would have to learn how to give thanks…..for starters!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day; got the turkey in; husband made Vegan Lasagna for daughter #1, put up Christmas lights for outside and had a fantastic meal only to end with a huge fight between hubby and daughter #2. I feel so sad right now.
Betsy, it is sad there was a ‘fight’, but I’d say leave it between the two participants and don’t let it taint the final hours of *your* TG day! Instead try to focus your mind on all the many little pieces of joy and thanks that were woven into the day. Try anyways - I bet there were lots!
Well people, if you knock and you get silence it may just be that I’m having a nap. G’night/morning one and all! Heading to bed with a thankful heart, I am.
Just got home from a wonderful dinner. My friend’s husband cooks every year from shopping to dishes - completely from scratch! And, he’s a great cook. Turkey, string beans with almonds, brussels sprouts roasted in duck fat, mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, stuffing, rolls, cranberry sauce (made with raspberries, pineapple and whole cranberries - not my fave with the can lines, but tasty :-) ) Then pumpkin pie with hand whipped cream and homemade ice cream for dessert. He’s a gaffer, so he works long hours and she does all the cooking the rest of the year, but he does the best Thanksgiving dinner ever!
My cousin sent me this; thought you might enjoy :-)
Smells good in this house,
Neighbor who hasn’t been invited to Thanksgiving dinner in 30 years is here and can hardly wait to eat.
Commented on last thread, Anna. So wonderful that you and your SO are doing this. Blessings to all and it will return tenfold.
:-) Anna!

Oh my Goodness :)
Does anyone recall taking any significant interest in previous (i.e., prior to 2009) Thanksgiving/Christmas/Holiday activities at the WH - such as:
1) The Turkey Pardoning

:)
:)
Honestly, I followed Christmas season at The White House. Never adored it the way I do now, but I did follow it.
I did, as well, mostly when HGTV showed the Christmas decorations.
None, whatsoever!
a couple of times I watched the HGTV WH decorations special but no nothing else. I won’t be watching after the Obamas leave the White House.
(No) x 6 + 0
Hope you have had a maaah-vel-lus Thanksgiving, Hopef! :)
Ha! Your algebra is spot-on, vc :)
/grinning with pride that the brain (for math) works at odd moments/ :D :D :D
wrong equation
6(No) + 0 = 6No = No + No + No +No + No + No
As in: never in my life . Although I seem to have a vague memory of my Dad bringing some of us into the city when we were young, to watch the tree lighting. Not every year, I think.
Hey, Hopef got the right message… so there!
Also, are you a married uncle now, or not? [my math skills couldn’t make it to 10 correctly.]
No.
Yes. Last week.
Well, felicitations! Will the newly weds be returning overseas (or are they settling in the brand new furnished house uncle gave them for a wedding present)? /just yanking your scrooge-y chain with the question - no answer needed/ :D :D
Returning home tomorrow. Moi doing the reception in UK next week.
Yes, the scrooge footed the entire hullaballo cost.
So it did include the new house! :D :D {{{Amk}}} << hugs to be collected only if there were no amk-ian grumblings …and none next week.
:D
Hopefruit2 before the Obamas got in the White House I didn’t pay any attention to anything.
I followed 5 & 6. BTW, #2 was nonexistent in previous administrations…
Good Evening Everyone.
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the Obama Diary ohana! Hope you’ve had a wonderful day, and your turkey was sliced by an adult :)
:D
Everyone wants to remove Assad…Except Russia…Vicki’s idea about a naval base there …could change that…not sure however if Turkey would feel that good about have Putin in their back yard…
PBO will sign an executive order making shopping and eating on Thanksgiving Day illegal. The Day will be only for giving thanks and fasting.
Tut-tut, Hf! Now why are you trying to get the wackos to intensify their “appreciation” of PBO? They would have to learn how to give thanks…..for starters!

Yes there were, thanks VC <3

Wait a minute, wasn’t I heading out several minutes ago? Byyyyeeee!
Just got home from a wonderful dinner. My friend’s husband cooks every year from shopping to dishes - completely from scratch! And, he’s a great cook. This is too funny on so many levels. Laughing out loud at 3:45 am. Back to sleep.
Pope Francis is not holding back! Here’s a link to the live reports from Nairobi. Full stadium on their feet holding hands- great stuff.
darn it . let’s try that again
AAAAARRRRGH!!!! Sorry. It’s BBC, nice reportage (unlike my link mix-up)
Morning!
