        It certainly is, Judith!

        Every day that passes the world witnesses what a commitment to CHANGE - no matter how slow, how difficult, how many try to obstruct or obliterate - can and does prevail.

        The powerful lesson and legacy of President Obama is just how potent the combination of persistence and empathy (for all) can be.

      by now, here on TOD, we know the routine:

      Step 0 (baseline): nation or world admits there is a very complex challenge that needs an urgent solution and everyone admits that no one has been able to find a cost-effective solution;

      Step 1 : PBO voices his support for finding a cost-effective solution, identifies the person(or people) to lead the search for the solution who in turn selects a very competent and dedicated team of public servants to work diligently on the problem. on the other hand gop voices they vocal opposition;

      Step 2 (results) : the dedicated team finds a cost-effective solution to the formerly intractable problem;

      Step 3 (credit) : gop say its wrong, won’t work or weak but offer no solution; the usual Dem suspects say that the solution is not good enough and others work very hard to give credit to other people;

      step 4 : PBO just goes on and works on the other previously intractable domestic or international problem

      There must be a word that describes a person for whom nothing is ever good enough. Ingrate? Not quite right.
      Ungracious, as the tweet above says. But it is more than that.

      Unimaginable that such a congenitally dissatisfied person could ever be president.

      In a Democracy, of course, agitators of all stripes are welcomed, encouraged and feared. However, people like Sanders, Kucinich, etc on the left side of the debate make a mockery of what is plausible, possible and real. Their Utopian Ideology is detrimental to any incremental achievement. They see the glass half empty. Half a loaf of bread is never enough for them. This type of Puritanical world view makes Politics a Toxic brew.

      Thank you Ladyhawke!

      It was a great privilege to watch it as it happened. This day will be remembered for a long time if all parties act as committed today. IOW, we then might still have a habitable planet in 20-50 years and beyond …. no joke, no hyperbole.

        Right because Anon is going to start with the salacious, move to the criminal and finally the unethical. They have to start with the salacious otherwise America will not pay attention. Since markets are global, the billionaire club will probably help with this. Hell they may even be behind it.

    Afternoon, Everyone.

    For my Chicago folks…

    Yesterday, Peanut and her Grandmother came downtown to Macy’s. I met them after work.

    We took in the windows, then Peanut went to see Santa, and we had dinner at The Walnut Room.

    Times have changed. When I was growing up, you went to see Santa, you stood in line and waited until you saw Santa.

    Now?
    We got a pager.

    A pager to see Santa.

    Well, we looked around; got the buzz, had to stand in line about 15 minutes, got in to see Santa and then had dinner.

    I remember so many years, growing up, even after I stopped going to see Santa, we’d always go downtown and visit the windows at Marshall Field’s, and go to the Walnut Room. I love sharing those traditions with Peanut.

      Oh, those are my memories too. I was convinced that the REAL Santa was at Marshall Field’s! Yes, lunch in the Walnut Room with the gimormous tree in the middle, then waiting to see Santa, and Mrs. Santa, and Happy Holly and the deer, it was magical. Also, to further the magic, we got to ride the El from Oak Park in to Field’s. A magical, wonderful day. Thank you for the memory.

    President Obama looked elated and celebrated the importance of todays’ agreement.
    The media will devote all of their energy to documenting GOP “concerns” and as little energy as possible to the real diplomatic and planetary victory.

    reviewing the video of the final announcement of the Paris Agreement, I can’t help smiling about the way full hugs were being freely given;

    of course I course be wrong and I am definitely biased but it seems to me that PBO and FLOTUS have done something else for public figures and that is make it very easy and natural to give and receive a hug in front of the international cameras and in on the official stage;

    remembering how much the media tried to make of the friendly shoulder pat FLOTUS gave to and was returned by the Queen of England during the First Couple’s first official visit ….. how far we have come

    A House Divided
    How a radical group of Republicans pushed Congress to the right.

    BY RYAN LIZZA

    ………………………

    Meadows is one of the more active members of the House Freedom Caucus, an invitation-only group of about forty right-wing conservatives that formed at the beginning of this year. Since 2010, when the Party won back the chamber, the House has been engaged in a series of clashes over taxes and spending. Two years ago, House Republicans brought about a government shutdown over the Affordable Care Act and nearly caused the United States to default on its debt. This week, as Congress raced to meet a December 11th deadline to pass the annual legislation that funds the government, the members of the Freedom Caucus had new demands: they wanted to cut funding for Planned Parenthood and restrict Syrian refugees from entering the United States, policies that, if attached to the spending bills, could face a veto from Obama and, potentially, lead to another government shutdown.

    Here they go:)

    http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/12/12/3731262/anonymous-targets-trump/

    The hacktivist group reportedly shut down the Trump Tower website, TrumpTowerNY.com, through limiting access through a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack that temporarily paralyzed it. The site is frequently used as a command center for Trump’s presidential campaign.

    Anonymous launched the attack to condemn “racism and hatred.” The group also released a YouTube video explaining its reasoning behind the #OpTrump campaign.

    “This policy is going to have a huge impact,” a masked Anonymous member said in reference to Trump’s earlier comments. “This is what ISIS wants: the more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feels that they can recruit them.”
    The attack on Trump Towers’ site appeared to be a precursor to Friday’s “Trolling Day,” a day Anonymous dedicated for its international members and the public at large to mock ISIS online. People were encouraged to post mocking videos, memes, and messages on social media.
