Learn up GGail - this is the 5th (last) game of the series. Australia has won 4/4 - this is India’s last chance. Amk is rather critical of the Indians. I think they have played well - the games have all been quite close. India should have won No 4 - they fell apart at the end - just like some football teams we read about.

The biggest flaw in Obama’s theory of change was born of arrogance rooted in past personal success. He plainly thought he could win Republicans over by moving toward them. I don’t think he fully corrected on that until the sequester took its first bite and he realized that Republicans wouldn’t compromise to shut it off. That quirk aside, though, I don’t think that Democrats ruminating over how change works can find a more nuanced or effective perspective than Obama’s. –
this is basically a good article outlining the consistency of the President re: change…
but the author sees the President as being naive for wanting to work with the GOP to compromise to move things forward…i am often amused by folks who see the President as naive…
there is an interesting passage in which he quotes the President….re…progress…
“One of the things that I’ve learned to appreciate more as President is you are essentially a relay swimmer in a river full of rapids, and that river is history,” he later told me. “You don’t start with a clean slate, and the things you start may not come to full fruition on your timetable. But you can move things forward.”
if you look at this in the context of the ACA…i can see the President….just smilin and shakin his head – at all the hullabooloo about who should get credit for Obamacare
It’s always interesting to hear a black man who rose to editor of the Harvard Law Review and first black president of the U.S. called naive. What chutzpah.
I see Andy Coulson has got a new job in PR.
I left him a good luck message on my mobile.
— John Prescott (@johnprescott) January 21, 2025
Background: John Prescott is the former UK Labour Deputy Prime Minister who won damages from the News of the World after they hacked into his phone messages. Coulson was the News of the World editor before being hired by David Cameron as his press guy …. before being sentenced to 18 months in jail over the phone hacking. And now he has a shiny new PR job. What a world.
Thanks:) Been a long, exhausting week… maybe I needed this advice too:) Off to nod…back at it tomorrow. Stay safe east coasters…. Night, GGail… :) Night, TOD.
Little Johnny was busy doing his homework. As his mother approached she heard him say:
“One and one, the son-of-a-bitch is two.”
“Two and two, the son-of-a-bitch is four.”
“Three and three”
His mother interrupted, asking where he had learned this way of doing math. Little Johnny remarked that his teacher Ms. Margo taught him. His mother was rather upset and told him to stop the homework.
The next day she stormed into Little Johnny’s classroom and confronted Ms. Margo. She told her about Little Johnny’s different way of doing math, and his claims that Ms. Margo taught it that way to the class.
The teacher was flabbergasted. She said that she couldn’t understand why Little Johnny had said that. Then suddenly, Ms Margo exclaimed, “Oh, I know, here in school we say: one and one, the sum-of-which is two!”
CNN meteorologist Chad Meyers, or whatever his name is, doesn’t really wear well on a Friday night. Even the little scratches he’s making on the weather map this evening are looking crazed. Don Lemon is also getting totally sleepy and talking a little cray cray, right before the viewers’ eyes. The “live shots” in the different areas under blizzard warnings all look the same, and none of the on-scene snow reporters have tripped and fallen yet, to my knowledge.
Much, much more exciting than non-stop coverage of the presidential campaign! I feel alive again. Ha.
Wow. Just heard on TWC that about 3,500 occupied cars are stranded over a 35-mile stretch of I-75 in KY. Some have been there for several hours; some have children in the car, and some are running low on gas. KY crews are clearing other roads so they can be diverted. Original cause was two trucks that jackknifed, followed by other accidents. They’ve finally closed off the interstate in that stretch, and have set up emergency shelters for the travelers, after they’re brought out. Hoping they get some help for those people, soon!
I hope that everyone in the midst of this storm is safe and taking precautions. Respect the elements, and repeatedly shovel. Do not wait for the snow to end before you shovel.

A majestic tweet:

What’s worse than finding a caterpillar in your salad?
Finding half a caterpillar.

I can take pics for you, fam, no need for snowcams! :)
GM Gazelle.
Please do post pics from your view of the world.
I think Matt Pearce speaks for many of us unaffected by #Snozilla (had to look it up, but FOMO = fear of missing out).
Here’s my take from earlier Friday:

fuck you, bbc.
LOL. The look on bff’s face is priceless.
I love this video. Posted it on my FB page. Our dogs so often show us what we need to see, that love, loyalty, and friendship are essence of living.

GM JO’B.
Another reason why Twitter is better than CNN:
True! I have family and friends on the east coast, so I was watching how the weather was affecting all of ’em. Still watching!
GM JO’B.
It’s 1:30 am here, can’t keep my eyes open to catch up on TODville, but was wondering if @kat4obama’s quote referred to this @latimes Op-Ed?
Sure looks like it! And GA, arapaho!
That was beautiful! Thanks Gazelle!
Thanks for the introduction to this artist! I’ve never heard her before. Where was the video shot, it needs to be my next vacation spot!
This is just too cute! Sorry for the duplicate if it has already been posted :)
I thought Bo was barking at the reporter rather than the snow - that’s my story.
yup, why bark at the transient flakes while the real permanent flakes are right there?
:)
Always great to start my day with a good laugh. Thanks amk.
