Another example of [as someone said] not that the system is working but the system CAN work. Now let’s see how this pans out.

    =====

For the first time in more than five years, a Georgia law enforcement officer will be prosecuted in the fatal shooting of a civilian.

After an eight-hour presentation by prosecutors, a grand jury on Thursday indicted DeKalb County police Officer Robert Olsen on charges including felony murder, District Attorney Robert James announced. Olsen shot and killed Anthony Hill, a mentally ill military veteran who was naked and unarmed at the time, outside a Chamblee apartment complex in March 2015.

The felony murder charges against Olsen stem from two separate felonies: Aggravated assault and violating his oath as a certified Georgia peace officer. He is accused of violating DeKalb police’s use of force policy and falsely claiming, to another officer, that Hill physically assaulted him prior to the shooting.

Why was someone with this degree of open sadism on the police force to begin with? You don’t just display this kind of savage brutality once; it must have been a pattern of behavior for some time but the system and fellow officers were afraid to call him out. Among all the other reforms to policing policies, there should be a way of identifying and firing murderous thugs before they act, not after.

Greetings from Iowa Caucusland! Per http://www.desmoinesregister.com/, only 10 days, 10 hours, etc, etc until we “caucus” instead of voting. This morning during the 6:30 am local news, I decided to count up the ads and references to the caucuses. Between 6:28 am and 6:59 am – there was a Rubio ad, Sanders ad, news story about Clinton in IC, Clinton ad, Trump ad, Carson ad, anti-Rubio ad from Jeb!, caucus location news coverage, same Sanders ad, Cruz ad #1, Cruz ad #2, same Clinton ad. That was the longest 30 minutes of my life – I’m going back to reading the paper after this! 🙂

    From Luvvie about Flint:
About Flint’s Water Crisis, the Human Rights Debacle and the Poster of Lies

    Awesomely Luvvie — January 19, 2016

What is happening in Flint, Michigan right now is systemic genocide, and the victims are people of color and poor people. The city’s population is 60% Black and 42% of the residents live below the poverty line. They are being poisoned with lead-tainted water that is coming out of their faucets, and it is from the willful neglect of those charged with running the city and the governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder.

Long story short (TL:DR): Governor Snyder wanted to save money, so he decided to stop having Detroit water be the supplier for tap water in Flint. Instead, he felt that the very polluted Flint River would be good enough for the residents, in spite of the fact that the water is so full of lead, if you reach into it, you’d pull out a box of number 2 pencils. And probably a scantron attached for good measure. That was in 2014.

  15. January 22, 2016 at 10:09 am

On Thursday, in the first skirmish over new carbon-emissions rules, a federal appeals court in Washington refused to temporarily block their implementation…

The decision didn’t address whether the new rules are legal. But the lack of a delay means the utilities, coal producers and two dozen states challenging Obama’s Clean Power Plan must start planning how to comply. The regulations are the first national standard for power plant carbon pollution: By 2030, they aim to cut U.S. CO2 emissions to more than 30 percent below 2005 levels. States and utilities must use less coal and more renewable energy, including solar and wind power.

Good morning TODville. It is warm here in Montana. Yesterday it got all the way up to 45. Wish we were getting some of the snow from back east. Yesterday the ranchers and farmers I talk to on Thursdays all say we need more snow/moisture.

Please all on the east coast who are dealing with this storm stay safe.

I listen to Stephanie Miller in the mornings. This morning she had Thom Hartmann on to try and calm everyone down. It was a good conversation. I don’t listen to Hartmann anymore, but I do appreciate that we need to be civil and not personal. I hope this can happen. I do know I will vote for whoever is the democratic nominee. I just wish it was Obama for a 3rd term.

    Stay safe everyone.

In this case, yes, I find it disturbing. waco? ruby ridge? yes, they were all eons ago. If the fbi/jd didn’t have a plan after all these years on how to deal with gunnutz terrorizing local population, they should all be fired for incompetence. Or worse complicity.

            • 112 Don
              January 22, 2016 at 12:57 pm

The perpetrators of Waco and Ruby Ridge all had one thing in common, they had a disturbing and distorted view of how the Government and the Constitution should work. There are no easy ways in dealing with folks like this. President Obama could give the word and have a platoon of soldiers go in and take back the land and blood will probably be spilled. I’ve said some time ago I wished President Obama would have sent in Seal Team Six for these fuckers. Hopefully the Feds have a plan.

      • 113 0388jojothecat
        January 22, 2016 at 12:32 pm

Yeah but when there is blood shed “PBO tyrannical government overreaction” PBO’S ruby ridge, waco, etc. Let the local police deal with them, where are their tanks and tear gas or is that just for urban police. These are heros to the community. This is what ‘small’ government looks like folks.

        • January 22, 2016 at 12:42 pm

Wrong, the community of Burns is demanding these terrorists leave. FBI and Loretta Lynch are enabling and inciting more of these terrorist attacks by not doing anything. At minimum they could starve them out by shutting off power and establishing a security perimeter around this site.

I don’t get it either. I really don’t understand why power, water, etc. wasn’t discontinued.

        January 22, 2016 at 2:12 pm

I think this situation is much more complicated than it appears. I trust the Obama administration on this one. I keep pointing out to people on other social media just because you can’t see what’s happening doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Remember the captain of US freighter captured by Somali terrorists off the coast of Africa? Everyone thought nothing was happening and President Obama did nothing to dissuade the media from that perception because doing so would have jeopardize the operation.

Happy friday! Just chiming in during a busy work week to say thank you for keeping me up to date on our beloved president’s daily business. The clown show that is the 2016 election is already in all its full 3 ring glory.

I have to keep telling myself to ignore any and all polling. Its just filler for the MSM or make believe to back up their own idiocy.
The media has ONE and ONLY ONE thing on its mind from now until Nov., and that is getting a Republican elected to the presidency.

And his single payer plan need 44% “cost savings” that are not spelled out. Some of it will come from reduced administrative costs, but I think that’s under 10%.

So how is Mr. Perfect going to find 33% savings, without co-pays, deductibles, and – if you read his “plan” – every procedure paid for, all the time?

If there ever was a case to accuse a health care plan of “death panels”, his may be it.

I’ve seen similar preliminary numbers. What everyone agrees on is that there will be significant tax increases, but Bernie flat out says it’s a wash with what we’re now paying in premiums and co-pays. But that is a tad less than honest.

Ha! They are now saying that the campaign is just for “ideas” and “discussion”.

Is it just me, or does everything Bernie says sound like a promise that it’s going to happen?

Or, my favorite from the Immortal Young Ones, who say, “at least he tried.” Huh. No progress but kudos for “trying”. When PBO can’t get the time of day for actually making progress.
