They sounded great in their rehearsal. I am sorry I missed everything today, but I do believe that my Chips will provide something as soon as it’s available :-)
What’s being overlooked by horse-race obsessed media is that this WH is now operating as a private sector business whose goal is to make life better for actual Americans.
“the president has begun building a “startup” within the White House … is increasingly addressing policy issues with private-sector solutions.”
Completely ignored by MSM, who buy into the BS from GOP that they’re the business-friendly political party.
That diaper idea is seriously one of the most innovative and broad-based concepts I’ve seen recently “on the home front” - so important, so off most people’s radar. But not this White House! LOVE THEM.
Have to admit I tuned into GOP debate about half-way through (hard to tell, since they seem endless), and Rubio’s answer really annoyed me — he basically said the only choice is between suffering (if Dems have their way) or to vote for him.
Wish we had the MSM who actually did research in how Barack Obama’s vision has changed America’s future from Day 1 seven years ago:
“Ellen Williams, Arpa-E’s director, said: “=’I think we have reached some holy grails in batteries – just in the sense of demonstrating that we can create a totally new approach to battery technology, make it work, make it commercially viable, and get it out there to let it do its thing,’
If that’s the case, Arpa-E has come out ahead of Gates and Musk in the multi-billion-dollar race to build the next generation battery for power companies and home storage.”
About Arpa-E:
“Arpa-E was founded in 2009 under Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan to fund early stage research into the generation and storage of energy.”
Howdy, Arapaho. I’ve been following Arpa-E…Darpa’s cousin from conception. There are some amazing things coming out of those labs. Another amazing private company (just acquired by Google, is Boston Dynamics) they are more on the cutting edge of robotics though. I knew Elon was developing batteries…especially for his Tesla’s, I’m less familiar with what Gates is doing. I do recall watching an interesting segment on 60 minutes a few years ago that may interest you:
Been saying for 3 years now that climate change is here now (not in some hazy date in the future) — plants and animals who depend on those plants have a hard time adapting to such rapid change. :(
@ucanrwater@ConversationUS New normal SoCal native, summer arrival: 2014-Jan 2015-Apr 2016-Feb VenturaCounty=Less rain this yr than last :(
I like those scarves. Hope she’s ready for the avalanche of orders coming her way any moment now.
Another cute story about the Obama Stimulus prowess at the bottom of the story about the scarf designer:
“Obama cookie sales still strong
Another Ottawa business that has reaped success from an Obama connection is Le Moulin de Provence bakery in the Byward Market.
In February 2009, Obama bought maple-leaf-shaped sugar cookies with red and white icing for his daughters during a surprise visit to the bakery.
Sales took off and thousands of cookies were being sold daily. Orders were coming in from Europe and the United States for what are known as the “Obama cookies”.
“It was nice to see him in my store. We we’re proud. With the Canada cookie that he bought, that what super for us,” said Maxime Lemay who helps run the bakery.
Lemay said the bakery still sell about 100 “Obama cookies” a day — seven years after the presidential visit.
Obama returns to Ottawa for North American summit this spring, and Lemay hopes the president will pay another visit to his bakery.”
 Sorry for duplicating the excerpt, Dudette & others! That’s what I get for jumping all over the place in my effort to see what I missed. Promise I won’t add anything else as I jump all around;will just read instead - at least until I get to the current post. ;)

Very nice recap of today’s events, including Justin and Barack with baby boy with morning spectactors, Michelle, Sophie, John Kerry, Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers, Ryan Reynolds. Only thing missing is tonight’s spectacular toasts, but tomorrow’s another day. ;)
The White House Correspondents Association on Thursday urged 2016 candidates to tone down their rhetoric aimed at reporters covering the presidential race, but would not comment directly on an alleged assault by Donald Trump’s campaign manager on a Breitbart reporter.
“We have been increasingly concerned with some of the rhetoric aimed at reporters covering the presidential race and urge all candidates seeking the White House to conduct their campaigns in a manner that respects the robust back-and-forth between politicians and the press that is critical to a thriving democracy,” the WHCA said.

awww guyz. didn’t ya all love it when the thugs were focused on common people?
I saw this tweet on my timeline and it gave me satisfaction that even Ezra Klein, the chronic sniping jackal of the pundit class has to admit the success of the Obama presidency.
Obama's approval rating is up 8 points from 2012…If he could run for a third term, he'd win yuge: https://t.co/qwGBreBl5q
Sorry, Dudette, I can’t help you. I’d like to know, too.
What a great double date POTUS and his wife makes with the Trudeaus. Everyone is so lovely! I can’t believe Malia and Sasha. Such exquisite beauties!!!
Hiya NCLB! It’s a good bet she’s picking someplace in NY (probably in NYC) since she’s interested in film and will want to stay on East Coast to stay near the Mom & Dad in Washington. So then it’s just a matter of narrowing down which school. I’m just gobsmacked at how gorgeous and grownup the girls were tonight. [Sigh!] Gawd I’m old. -)
Today’s State Visit was exhilarating for me just watching. I can’t wait for POTUS’ trip to visit Ottawa in the summer.
Maybe. That would be a safe bet. But I wonder if she might be more inclined to go somewhere he didn’t go, as a way of injecting some independence in her life. We’ll see. :-)
I was thinking that she might be interested in the West Coast. I know my kids were interested in going somewhere far from home when they went to college. I have my own self to blame for that as I raised them to be independent yet caring. Anyway, I think Malia did an internship or something at Stanford one summer.
Okay, I’m not sure, but I think this is what’s happening today (Friday)
- FLOTUS heads to Calif for Nancy Reagan’s funeral
- POTUS heads to SXSW and
- PM Trudeau speaks at American University
Dunno any times for any of this. Of course, Queen Chips will have the whole low down for us.
9:30 a.m.: Lays a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery (may not be live)
10:30 a.m.: Q&A at American University (may not be live)
12 p.m.: Trudeau speaks at a Canada2020 event.
I saw somewhere that the funeral is at 11am PST (which is 2PM EST). FLOTUS will need to leave early to make that. Whoa, I don’t envy her having to do that after tonight’s festivities.
and what’s even nicer to know is that he is as healthy as a 50 something man can be according to his latest health check… which means not only is he cool and calm on the outside but also on the inside. No internal anger ailments- so literally what we see, is who he is.
I just don’t know what this country is going to do without him as President.
However, Barack Obama as citizen may well be an even bigger force to reckon with. :):)
Is this the furst time the girls attended a WH function?
stress on furst.
Yer late!
but still furst. what does that say about yer?
a simple eyeroll would have been suffice.
;-)
yeah, yeah. answer the Q.
I dunno 🤔
It’s their first State Dinner.
Thank you, meta.
See, bt?
I knew that, I just didn’t want to flaunt my knowledge
They look absolutely gorgeous! The entire first family is a beautiful sight <3
Oh my, look at Sasha!
I think Sasha will be fifteen soon. I know she is a year older than my oldest granddaughter who turns fourteen the beginning of August.
She looks so serious and sophisticated. I still think of her as a little girl.
Another beautiful State Dinner. The staff should be very proud of the results - I know I am!
I told you they would be BFF’s now:) How stupendous!!
Chips, you are Awesome ❤️
The first daughters are beautiful young women 🌹🌹
That look on PBO is feeling pretty good right about now 😎
are those the gop establishment’s hands trying to hold li’l marco up, even as he can’t sit up on his own
Don’t get me started with the giggles tonight! I’ll never fall asleep :D :D :D
GE Chips, thanks for the stellar coverage of the State Dinner with Canada!
The girls are so grown up, young adults now. Bet that breaks PBO’s heart just a tiny bit, since he loves children so much.
The toast tonight was one for the “Dinner Toast Hall of Fame.”
Here’s another pic of Malia:
strapless dress! dad must be apoplectic! :)
Both as gorgeous as their mother.
This is the first time in along time that they have attended a State’s Dinner and they look lovely.
OMG!
They sounded great in their rehearsal. I am sorry I missed everything today, but I do believe that my Chips will provide something as soon as it’s available :-)
GE NerdyW, thanks for all the gorgeous tweets of tonight’s “tingly” State Dinner.
How excited are you that PBO will be so close to you tomorrow?
Thanks for the reminder. WH Twitter feed has a bunch of tweets about that.
Keep forgetting that linked tweets don’t appear here.

Thanks Dudette! I needed a Love Song tonight :-)
I’m watching the ACC tournament but seems like the three ring circus is alive and well….
Damn Dudette that has me crying all over the place. That was beautiful.
:-D
GOP mayor of Miami (where the debate is( one of 20 FL mayors who sent an open letter:
gud gawd.
I have another long and busy day tomorrow and I’m fighting back a cold that wants to invade GGail, so I’m saying good nite good people :-)
G’night G’Gail! Drink plenty of fluids. Get plenty of rest. :-)
Dam I love FLOTUS shoes. If only I could wear shoes like that.

Geez, had no idea it was almost 80F in NYC today.
Been saying for 3 years now that climate change is here now (not in some hazy date in the future) — plants and animals who depend on those plants have a hard time adapting to such rapid change. :(
for some reason, I first saw that as ‘donuts may be getting more intense, frequent…’ so I was getting kind of excited :(
LOL! :-)

Les Squeeeee!
I’ve been avoiding a tweets about the damned Republicans this evening, but this stood out, so…
Tonight’s debate was completely weird.
Previous GOP debates were “unintelligible yelling,” tonight’s was:
Really seemed like Trump was doped up (either that or he’s doped up during previous debates/speeches):
Good night TOD ….
#VOTE
The Republicans talk alot about Jesus, but that is all it is talk.
And more…
Very nice recap of today’s events, including Justin and Barack with baby boy with morning spectactors, Michelle, Sophie, John Kerry, Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers, Ryan Reynolds. Only thing missing is tonight’s spectacular toasts, but tomorrow’s another day. ;)

first, they came for jews ….
you corrupt, cowardly clowns built this.
Our First Daughters are gorgeous. So lovely that they were there. HZ
They grew up right in front of us, HZ and it’s still a jolt to see what graceful young ladies they’ve already become. Time zips by.
Night, all. Sweet dreams!
Night Judith!
My favorite Sara Bareilles song….I’m so glad that they performed it tonight!
POTUS and FLOTUS rocking out in the front row. Looks like the Trudeaus are a little more chill. :-)

The Desi trying to take Lord Stanley’s Cup back from the Blackhawks :)
Aw! Thanks for the Rufus Wainwright tweet. <3
Am I the only person who thinks the Stanley Cup trophy looks like a pile of hotel room service covers welded together? :-D
I posted those music clips for you Dudette, in the hopes you were still lurking
Thank you, you sweet, sweet man! C’mere you! :-D
I had never noticed it before, but now that you mention it, they do indeed.
Brilliant way to put it. I am simple and would have said, Tonight’s debate, another clown show.
ICYMI -
Jonathan Karl replied to Dan: which one is which?
Dan replied:

It makes me so mad that we have to contend with shitty Republicans in office who would never fund this kind of initiative.
