“President Obama is traveling to South by Southwest to — the first sitting President to do so. In Austin, he’s going to make the case for people “from all walks of life, working inside or outside of government, to help us make this democracy even stronger.”
When it comes to tech, the President has had many firsts: the first “Social Media President;” the first President to appoint a Chief Technology Officer; the first President whose White House had built an online civic engagement platform, We The People; the first President with his own tech startups in the United States Digital Service (USDS), 18F, and the Presidential Innovation Fellows. But this Administration’s use of technology is not about novelty. Instead it is rooted in the President’s broader vision about citizenship and service.”

Thank you, LP!
YW, JB!
Congratulations, Jacqueline!
Watching the Nancy Reagan service, as well. Ron and Patti look so very sad. It’s heartbreaking to lose your mother.
At least Ron and Patty haven’t taken the time to go on some show and criticize POTUS because he didn’t attend Nancy funeral like Michael Reagen did.
Ron likes Obama!
Believe RWNJ Michael Reagan didn’t attend - he and his wife were “on a business trip in Asia,” but their two kids went. He’s a POS, anyway, and there was a time when he was estranged from Nancy, and always arguing with Ron, Jr. Ignore him.
It sure is, at any age.
Thanks LovelyPlains for a new Thread.
Congrats, JO’B for your Au :star:
omg, this is a horror. That poor man, he’s hurt, yet he’s the one being manhandled by cops. Sick of this.
Yes, Sherri, we’ve all had enough of the hatred that’s been deliberately stirred up in this country. It isn’t just Trump. It’s the entire Republican Party and the media that does its bidding. If this kind of violence occurred at a Democratic event, there would be 24/7 media coverage condemning the Dem candidate. When Republicans deliberately provoke violence, it’s accepted by the media and even supported by local law enforcement.
you are right on all counts. Sadly.
It’s the same type of hate & willful ignorance that rationalized burning & hanging Black People. Enough said.
Thanks, LPlains!
My pleasure, VC! Felt like you were on U.S. soil…at least in spirit the last few days
I sure was! BTW, I have a question or two to ask you - but I’ll do so next week when I am more awake. :D
LOCAL LIVESTREAM: President Obama in Austin - http://www.kvue.com/news/local/president-obama-arrives-in-austin/77887922
My former Congress person and current hero, John Dingell drops the mic on Ann Coulter.
Never gets old
I remember that piece very well. A really impressive group of people willing to be involved in public service.
POTUS talking about this right now!
Yes, he is! I loved how he put the moderator in check….”we’re doing it right now” …..the poor fella probably feels time constraints too. His “right, right” is trying to signal he wants to move on to a new question but President Obama isn’t having it :D :D :D
What’s funny is that video JER posted on a previous thread featured him earlier today acting so freakin’ cool and not intimidated by POTUS. Heh.
Right? That was so funny! PBO takes his time and gets in all of his points. When the reporter tried to end it, PBO said “I am the president and I am going to take another question” then went on to make his final pitch.
How extraordinary is this…..WOW…so many amazing things our President is doing..and
the sad thing is that most Americans don’t know about it..
.the media blocks out this kind of info…
.just think of how Americans would feel if they knew the true wonderfulness of our President…even now as his approval ratings seem to be ticking up…
i feel such a loss that many will not know our President as we see him…
if Hillary is the next President…i wonder if she will continue the Let Girls Learn Initiative that has been started by the FLOTUS….
i wonder if FLOTUS will continue to work on this as well….it is such a necessary endeavor
Pf, I honestly think that Hillary would continue all of the best of PBO’s program and would especially promote and support the Let Girls Learn Initiative, which is fully in line with her life’s work on behalf of women and girls. HRC understands how government works and why it needs to be as efficient as possible. She is the only one running for president who will continue to move the country in the forward direction PBO has set. Bernie is a hot mess and would be a disaster. And don’t get me started on the hate-filled bigots on the R side who have the imagination of sea snails.
Who the eff let Hillary say that the Reagans, especially Nancy, opened a national dialogue on HIV and AIDS?!?!?!
Well, actually, they did — by their denial and refusal to say the words “Aids” and “HIV,” folks around the world discussed not only only the disease, but also the administrations lackluster response to the crisis…
Nancy Reagan had a pivotal role in this, responsible for turning Ronald Reagan around. I actually think she is the one responsible for running the country in his second term when he was afflicted with Alzheimers. Led to the weapons treaties with Gorbachev.
You know, as soon as I reacted and read all the outrage, I remembered that she had been good on this issue. It will be okay.
The absolute best way to shut it down. I wish more politicians apologized when they were wrong. Good for Hillary.
Thanks, lp.

Thank you so so so so so much for your help LP, love ya!
This week was Spring Break so I’m glad I could give you a little break :)
Hay I early voted for Hillary Clinton today.
Brava! Glad to see that early voting going on. What state?
Here in N.C., I took someone with me and they for Hillary too. So did my neighbor.
Good on ya Bella!! 👍🏼
I’m proud of you, Bella. Our state primary isn’t until late April and we have no early voting, so I envy your chance to make you voice heard.
Congratulations Bella ~ we have to wait until April here :(
Boommmmmm
Just read the entirety of the Atlantic story on “The Obama Doctrine.” It’s a great read. This guy had tremendous access. The deepest exploration to date of PBO’s enormous breadth and depth of thought and judgement process in determining foreign policy. We are so blessed to have had such a giant intellect and wise heart to lead us during this challenging time.
GA Bill R.
Posted these on this morning’s Early Bird thread, but bears repeating.
Hope there’s a good discussion here at TOD on Goldberg’s article:
Okay finally POTUS being introduced :) !
After reading the Atlantic article and seeing so much here and elsewhere about the amazing work of our President, it is clear that the real revolution has already been happening during his tenure. We are just beginning to appreciate how far reaching this presidency has been. President Obama is the innovator, who pragmatically but effectively steers the course of our country in a new direction on all fronts. It is real change, not fraudulent ideological promises that go nowhere. Hillary is the consolidator in this sweep of history. Her election will consolidate the changes we have seen and build on them. Her great contribution will be that, and extending and building on the Affordable Care Act, in international cooperation in foreign policy, on the human rights work of our President, particularly in the field of women’s rights and equality throughout the world.
I loved the ‘Dark Night’ Joker analogy….he also finished Jeffery’s ‘Godfather’ quote. My favorite anecdote was probably when they landed in Malaysia and Jeffery was like “it is hot outside” and the Military ceremonial guard is probably wondering why the President hasn’t got off the plane and President Obama recognized that but still wanted to finish his thought process….so all the dignitaries, ect. had to wait!
Bill, this is beautifully stated. I wish everyone could read your words. Love the idea that Hillary is the “consolidator in this sweep of history.” It makes it so important that those of us who love and support our president work very hard to ensure that she succeeds him.
Holy smokes the crowd is loud! woohoo!!
wow, I didn’t feel like that guy was listening so much as waiting to say his bit.
President Obama is light years ahead of so many other politicians (without naming names) or, quite frankly, so many other global leaders. Or so many other Americans. And insert some term that’s greater than light years, if you can think of it!
POTUS has really set out imaginations on fire. He’s the BAWSE.
oh yes he is, meta :)
nope you said it just right :)
POTUS is eating this guy’s lunch. LOLz.

Right!
Yup!
Yup!
Right!
HAW!!
Okay a lot of honesty going on here… and POTUS as always telling the truth and the facts.. so smartly, so easily. Gawd I do love him and his politics.
GOVERNMENT IS GOOD

Good find, Ladyhawke.
A Day in Your Life
http://www.governmentisgood.com/articles.php?aid=1
Though we usually fail to notice it, government programs and policies improve our daily lives in innumerable ways.
Ask yourself this question: “What has government done for me lately?” If you are like most Americans, you will probably answer: “Not much.” Many people feel like they pay a lot in taxes but don’t really get anything back from government. Surveys show that 52% of Americans believe that “government programs have not really helped me and my family.”1 But let’s see if that is really true. Let’s examine a typical day in the life of an average middle-class American and try to identify some of the ways that government improves that person’s life during that 24-hour period.
Oh no he did not say that. “thanks Obama”. :)
GA COS.
:)
Yes he did!
Oh I so love President Obama.. but I think I’m going to be amazed even more by Citizen Obama :)
As if it were possible, this presentation by our President, which was so thoughtful, nuanced and intelligent, made me love him even more. Americans may not have fully understood why they voted for Barack Obama twice, but, in 2008 and 2012, this country rose to the occasion and did something absolutely and blissfully right.
The Obama girls are so beautiful, poised and magnificent. What a glorious, amazing family.
I can’t imagine how POTUS feels when he sees his girls so gorgeous and graceful. I know he chokes up!!
Impossible to watch the agony of these mothers without crying. This is a compelling and powerful piece.
