I was just thinking the same thing as I scrolled through the photos. By being her authentic self she has inspired women and girls all over the world and paved a new and better way for future First Ladies. No more desperate housewives in the White House drinking and pill-popping to deaden their pain.

GM, TOD! Doing a “drive-by.” Granddaughter, former D-i-L #2, and D-i-L’s Dad are in for a drive-by visit. First time I’ve seen GD since Christmas 2014. I’ve been ill, so my Mom hosted us for dinner last. I’m so Blessed that at 84 she is still functioning at a very high level. Lately, she’s been getting around better than me! They are due here at 10; GD and I are going to make a skirt.

Have a Blessed Day! Read you later!

Have you noticed that every man running for President this year is an unkempt mess? There’s chubby DT with the bird’s nest hair, perpetually dripping Cruz with the ill fitting suits, frumpy Kasich, who looks like he just woke up from a nap and Sanders with hair that’s never known a comb. Only one person looks well groomed, carefully put together and presentable in any environment and that’s Hillary Clinton. It may seem superficial, but the way that someone presents themselves makes a difference in how they’re regarded by others. Any of the men would be an embarrassment in a distinguished international gathering. They may be on national tv everyday, but they’re not ready for prime time.

    • 26 hopefruit2
      March 31, 2025 at 10:01 am

Yes I’ve noticed that as well. This unkemptness on the outside reflects their messed-up psyches, and should be a warning sign for everyone.

    • 27 jacquelineoboomer
      March 31, 2025 at 11:49 am

Hi, jackieG - that’s a big trend that I’ve noticed. Even if you just sit back and watch The Weather Channel every now and then, all the guys seems to be unkempt white guys who looked like they just crawled out of bed, but for one or two, and all the women seem to be long-haired, high-heeled, well-dressed beauties. Each of them appears equally qualified, once they speak! But if we women were as shallow and superficial as some of the people who hire the meteorologists on TWC and many of the “news” people on the major cable shows, we’d have some good-looking men in the mix! Ha. To me, it’s a total double standard and the sad part is that those who hire don’t know it. And these shows on teevee - and the presidential candidates - are just mirroring the double standard that has existed in the workforce in our country since women starting taking “office jobs”!!!!

Or, as I could have just commented, if I weren’t so wordy: I agree with you. :)

I also liked that Rachel asked Bernie about why he was not helping other down ticket Dems with raising money. He essentially said he was too busy running his own and did not have the connections Hillary had to money to help. Another words, he subscribes to every person on their own which does not bode well for a revolutionist.

    BINGO!

    http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/interrogation/2016/03/barney_frank_is_not_impressed_by_bernie_sanders.html

It’s ironic that we complain about voter suppression and shortened voting times and then we have so many caucuses. The caucuses are the least democratic political operation in America. They cater to the people who have a lot of time on their hands, and what’s interesting is Sanders is the nominee of the caucuses and Hillary is the nominee of the primaries.

I am disappointed by the voters who say, “OK I’m just going to show you how angry I am!” And I’m particularly unimpressed with people who sat out the Congressional elections of 2010 and 2014 and then are angry at Democrats because we haven’t been able to produce public policies they like. They contributed to the public policy problems and now they are blaming other people for their own failure to vote, and then it’s like, “Oh look at this terrible system,” but it was their voting behavior that brought it about.

So it seems like you’re saying Bernie’s voters have a slightly unrealistic sense about the political process. And that this is driven—

    I didn’t say slightly.

The highest court in South Africa has ruled that President Jacob Zuma violated the constitution when he failed to repay government money spent on his private home.

It gave the treasury 60 days to determine how much he should repay.

The ruling is a victory for the opposition, who said they would push for Mr Zuma’s impeachment.

They accuse him of using “ill-gotten wealth” to upgrade his home with a swimming pool and amphitheatre.

    ///

In a unanimous judgement on behalf of the Constitutional Court’s 11 judges, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng said the public protector was a “Biblical David” fighting against the Goliath of corruption.

Mr Zuma’s failure to repay the money was “inconsistent” with the constitution, he added.

“The president failed to uphold, defend and respect the constitution,” he declared.

As much as I try to avoid it, some of the ugliness creeps through. I literally get sick to my stomach when I see the faces of all of those (including Bernie) who shall not be named. That their souls are just as ugly as their visages is just too much to take. Off to cleanse my mind and soul by looking at photos of PBO and FLOTUS.

White House jazz celebration to feature Aretha Franklin, Sting, Buddy Guy, and more
The White House will host a major concert in honor of the fifth annual International Jazz Day on April 29. The International Jazz Day All-Star Global Concert will features a lineup worthy of a sitting president that includes Herbie Hancock, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Buddy Guy, Chick Corea, Pat Matheny, Diana Krall, Wayne Shorter, and many others. And music fans who can’t get into the gig need not worry: ABC will broadcast the event the following day.

Washington, D.C. is this year’s International Jazz Day host city. The event has previously been hosted by Istanbul, Osaka, and Paris and is sponsored by the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and UNESCO. “Jazz has been a uniting force and very unifying for people all over the world for the last century,” Tom Carter, the institute’s president, told the Associated Press. “It is the voice for many of those facing challenges around the world.”

John Beasley will serve as the musical director for the event, which will also feature performances by Joey Alexander, Terence Blanchard, Kris Bowers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Till Brönner, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jamie Cullum, Kurt Elling, Robert Glasper, Dave Holland, Zakir Hussain, Al Jarreau, Lionel Loueke, Hugh Masekela, Christian McBride, John McLaughlin, Marcus Miller, James Morrison, Danilo Pérez, Rebirth Brass Band, Dianne Reeves, Lee Ritenour, David Sánchez, Esperanza Spalding, Trombone Shorty, Chucho Valdés, Bobby Watson, and Ben Williams.

“We are thrilled that President Obama and Michelle Obama are hosting the International Jazz Day All-Star Global Concert at the White House, and are truly grateful for their commitment to jazz and its role in building bridges and uniting people around the world,” Hancock said in a press release.

      http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2016-03-16/obama-to-travel-to-saudi-arabia-and-united-kingdom-in-april

Apr 22 - President Obama and China President Xi each sign Paris Climate Agreement.

Then off to the UK and Germany for Hannover Messe trade show (not sure of the dates he’ll be in each country)

Returns to the US for the International Jazz Day on Friday, and the WHCD on Saturday.

      Whew.

I think that is hogwash. How can you have only 2 running and then pretend the only reason you won’t do any more debates is because he doesn’t want to fundraise for the down tickets races?

If they even consider this it will backfire. Bad enough they rigged the race for Clinton, now she is actually working for a win and they want to shut down BS by pretending this is a reason to not hold remaining debates?

      Bullshit. Bad idea.

      • 132 57andfemale
        April 1, 2025 at 9:59 am

I disagree. BS can’t do anything without a strong Congress and he should damn well care about state and local races (he never has, even in VT). He has made use of DNC resources since becoming a Dem five minutes ago (something he has no intention of maintaining, as he’s already filed for the Senate run in 2018 as an Independent).

He signed a pledge to contribute to Dems and down ticket races, and he hasn’t. He wants the party to call for more debates, but won’t honor his own pledge. No one should get the Dem nomination who either, on a good day, doesn’t give a damn about the Democratic party, and on most days demonizes the party. Chaos and destruction will not necessarily lead to Utopia.

In answering Rachel’s question on why he is not helping the Dem down ticket candidates fund raise while Hillary is? Bernie answered that he needed his money for his run that Hillary had more connections to other funding. Really? Is that a statement on why his fundraising method is not sufficient for a revolution if it does not help get in more people that agree with the party platform? Or is that just showing that Bernie has no intention to help the Dem party even though he signed a contract agreeing to that or is he is just using the party to further his own interests?

That’s disgusting and disturbing. Real sick of cops in America. They don’t even bother to come to my neighborhood when called anymore.

Dishonest spin. The nuclear agreement was about nuclear arms, not ballistic missiles. The President was clear about the fact that the nuclear agreement was about that, about making Iran respect the non-proliferation treaty. Ballistic missiles are another story.
