Morning. Congratulations, Don. Happy April Fool’s Day everyone. With clowns like Trump, Cruz and Kasich running for president and with the continuing irritations from the Bernie camp, it seems as if every day’s been “fool’s day” this campaign season.

Since it’s April, I’ll bring back my favorite line from an old English song: “April, April laugh they girlish laughter; then a moment after, weep thy girlish tears.” April is the capricious month–rain one day, sun the other. But the air is (generally) gentler, the sun usually warmer and the hope we all had for Spring actually comes true in this month.

    Good Morning TODVille.

Still fighting a cold over here.

The labor news this morning from WaPo.

U.S. added 215,000 jobs in March as jobless rate rose slightly to 5 percent

The U.S. economy added 215,000 jobs in March, as the unemployment rate rose slightly to 5 percent, the Labor Department reported Friday morning.

Thanks, NCLB. Hope you feel better soon. Too bad the unemployment rate edged upward.

      • April 1, 2016 at 8:45 am

Look at it like this, what was the unemployment rate when POTUS took office?

Not a bad sign in this case – the labor market participation grew causing the upward tick. 🙂

I also see it this way, on a monthly basis, we’ve been adding 200k. That’s a good thing. Now, with many states increasing the minimum wages, in a few months people should start feeling better if they are not obtuse.

Am ignorant of economics (and am pretty skeptical of “economists” in general), but these appear to be good signs:

TRUMP ACCIDENTALLY SPEAKS TRUTH OF ANTI-ABORTION POLITICS (Muse See)

    THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW 3/31/16

    —————————————————-

Rachel Maddow points out that contrary to his criticism of Donald Trump’s remarks on punishing women for abortion, Ted Cruz and his close advisers hold even more extreme views, and all Donald Trump is really guilty of is saying out loud the truth about the aims of the anti-abortion movement in the United States. Yes, Pf. If public sector growth had kept pace, our economy would be soaring and our infrastructure would be vastly improved. Republicans have done everything they could to put their foot on the brake so that our President would not appear to succeed. He’s thwarted them at every turn and they still haven’t learned their lesson.

    • April 1, 2016 at 9:47 am

When you run on a platform of smaller government (which many GOP candidates have done of late), of course you’re going to do what you can to make government less effective and less efficient. Refusing to vote on the American Jobs Act, beaucoup attempts to repeal Obamacare, orchestrating government shut down(s)…all part of their agenda.

Bernie, who has contempt for all Democrats, is trying to sabotage HRC with a vengeance. He realizes that his message of “free everything” resonates with the silly young people with short-term memory and half the wit and he is riding it to weaken her. Bernie is not thinking General Elections. He is an angry man.

Bernie’s in it for the money now and he’s going to bilk his supporters for all he can before the inevitable collapse of his campaign. He could care less about the impact of his actions on the general election or on the country. And he has nothing but contempt for down ticket Dems. I hope he has a strong Dem challenger for his Senate seat in 2018 and doesn’t return to the Senate.

Wonderful story about creating beauty and usefulness after horrific tragedy:

This community garden “is open for people to pick from 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,’ said Jolinda Kohl of Bringing Food Forests to Northeast Florida. “This is a solution to food scarcity in northeast Florida. We have several food deserts here where people don’t have access to fruits and vegetables, and certainly not organic ones,” she said.

This community garden honors “the life of 9-year-old Somer Thompson, who was murdered in 2009.” ‘We turned something ugly into something beautiful,’ her mother said.

The first year “installiversary” of the garden is April 23, which is when they hope Mrs. Obama will be able to come and visit.

Good Friday, Chipsticks… TOD Family! Great job numbers! And the President’s approval rating ticking up just shows that more people are realizing what we already know.

I had posted links to the first two episodes of the BBC Two Documentary, “Inside Obama’s White House.” It appears that, due to copyright restrictions, those episodes have been removed from YouTube. The only way you can access those and the remaining two episodes is to subscribe to a third party provider or if you are in the UK and can get BBC iPlayer.

I, personally, am leery about signing up with some of these video sites; especially if they require your credit card information. So if anyone finds another source to view the documentary, please share. I feel like now that I’m hooked, there has been a bait and switch.

… but I simply wish he would stop his stupid attack on this matter. Yesterday in the Bronx, he had a field day. I begged my daughter to vote for HRC on 4/19. She said she would but she and the silly friends she has ARE ALL IN for BS. What a riot!
