Congratulations, Jackie! We have a godson working at a U.N. School in Hanoi. It would be wonderful if he and his Honduran wife and new baby crossed paths with our President.

I read the President’s itinerary in Vietnam and Japan and got exhausted. How on earth does he actually do all of this!? Joe Biden said that PBO has a backbone of steel; he should have added that he has superhuman stamina.

    GM TODville.

Not sure if PBO is in Vietnam yet [Google tells me it’ just after 8pm Sunday in Hanoi now], so here’s a drop mic moment to LBGT whiners who revere WJC yet seem to ignore what has *actually* been done in the past 7 years:

Yesterday I wrote something about this exact same thing but I decided not to post it here, now I’m regretting not posting what I wanted to say. I’m concerned about the eerie silence from the LGBT community when it comes to President Obama and all the things he’s done for the LGBT community. Its as though they’re upset at him for doing the things he’s done. I have yet to see any LGBT organization come out and say thank you or at least give him any sort of praise. For years the LGBT community wanted a President to fight for their rights, President Obama has exceeded their wildest dreams and yet they sit on their hands and keep their mouths close when it comes to President Obama. You just wait until Hillary gets into office, the LGBT community are going to start throwing weekly parades for the Clintons.

I’ve felt that same way here and there, over the years. Luckily, we’re all here to keep reminding the world at large of President Obama’s singular, sterling accomplishments – along with the history books, unless they skip “the years” they happened.

          May 22, 2016 at 11:51 am

We especially have to remind the young Bernie Bros about the real revolution and recruit as many of them as possible to keep President Obama’s progress moving forward.

      • May 22, 2016 at 10:15 am

Don, you are assuming that the GLBT ( original acronym LGBT) community are monolithic. It is not, each of the GLBT sub groups has their own biases or preferences ex; community priorities etc. It is alawys just as divided as hetero community. Unfortunately very few if any minorities head the non-governmental agencies ( GLADD, HRC just to name a few) Does racism exists YES. Does sexism exist YES. I have been a member of the GLBT tribe for most of my adult life. I have concluded that it is perhaps the most racially, socially and economically divided and segregated path of our social quilt. Of course I say this as a minority who has been active in the community internationally. The only other aspect of American society which is more divided is churches on Sunday.

      • May 22, 2016 at 10:24 am

Summation: remember Lt. Dan Hoi (sp) chaining himself to the White House fence and shouting down the president at a WH GLBT gathering? He was supported by the EMPROGS and the GLBT groups which never appreciated President Obama. Remember that GLADD gave its bogus “prestigious” award to Bill Clinton a few years ago. The same Bill Clinton who signed DOMA and DADT. I have analyzed the political circumstances of Bill signing these laws into life; I still conclude he had no will, no conviction. Just like he had none supporting and under-witting the election of BLUE DOGS into congress. His camp claimed that he needed congressional muscle ( support) thus he compromised often. Well after watching President Obama in office for 7.5 years he must be a GOD because he had no political help from the Democrats or minimal at best. Yet he accomplished many great things, some which have not yet come into fruition but will long after he is gone.

If the emo blogs are any indication, some of them are holding an eternal grudge against him for inviting Rick Warren to give the prayer at his first inauguration, in addition to association with the likes of Donnie McClurkin. No matter what he did, that group of emos always cited this as a reason not to give him any credit for the UNPRECEDENTED progress he’s made.

And now, we can begin to exhale a little: Mercury stations direct this very minute, things should start flowing again in the next couple days. Hi Roberta. In brief, Mama Chips fell awhile back and hurt herself badly. Chips and the family have been trying to locate a friendly, well-run place where she can be comfortably rehabilitated. Mama C is in one such place now. Of course like all of us, she can’t wait to get back to her own surroundings.

So often you give words to my thoughts JoB. Seeing PBO arrive in Vietnam my first thought was – its amazing – and then “what a difference a generation makes”. Then I think about being brought up in the aftermath of WWII when anything “made in Japan” was not allowed in our home – and what a difference do 2 generations make.

I remember the air raid drills in elementary school, where we’d have to get under our (seemingly impenetrable to somebody) wooden desks … and dreaming at night that “the dirty rotten Commies” were coming down my street to kill my family. And we think RWNJ FEAR-inspired rhetoric is a new commodity.

        • 47 99ts
          May 22, 2016 at 8:11 pm

My mother used to tell me a story about the communists infiltrating the “mothers’ club” – (I think you call it the PTA) – this was for the infants/elementary school – called mothers’ club because meetings were in the daytime and all the fathers were at work! Her friend’s husband was an officer in the army & “he came in and sorted them out”. I don’t think we ever had air raid drills, but we did worry about “the reds under the beds”.
