I just watched Trump’s acceptance speech. It was funny. The GOP is TOAST this year and it is well deserved.

“Cotton explained he knew she was close friend of Obama’s & blocking her was way to inflict special pain on president”

This is SICK. May Cotton rot in HELL (while on earth), and may his conscience eat him alive for the remainder of his pitiful life.

It won’t bother Tom Cotton one bit. Cotton come from the people were they could beat the living craps out of you, hang you on a tree till your neck is broken, and throw your body in the river, and feel not one bit of remorse.

Hopefruit, it would be hard to argue that the GOPs (we see on display) have a conscience. Cotton, for example, has had several public examples of having shelved his, along with his “patriotism”, so I cannot picture him having any familiarity with remorse. You said it right at the start. He is SICK.

What bothers me most about instances like this is that GOP pols can publicly admit (and have) their unprofessional goals, their deliberate intent to obstruct the CiC and his governance etc, and yet they still regularly collect a salary for a job they are not doing AND have admitted they won’t do. The blatant arrogance AND injustice of it boggle my mind.

I watched about ten seconds of Trump without the sound. That was not an enthusiastic crowd. When I had the sound on momentarily there was barely a rustle of applause and people were basically sitting on their hands.

I have always loved and admired this woman.

“I ran for the Presidency, despite hopeless odds, to demonstrate the sheer will and refusal to accept the status quo,” Chisholm wrote in her 1973 book The Good Fight. “The next time a woman runs, or a black, or a Jew or anyone from a group that the country is ‘not ready’ to elect to its highest office, I believe that he or she will be taken seriously from the start…. I ran because somebody had to do it first. In this country, everybody is supposed to be able to run for President, but that has never really been true.”

Every time I try to watch MSNBC election coverage, I wish for Keith Olbermann. I so wish he was here this year…..he would have taken care of Trump by now in a beautiful, literary, pungent manner, and Trump would not know what hit him…..and of course neither would the Republicans.
Brian Williams is so pompous, and spends his time trying to put words in people’s mouths. He tried with Sen. Boxer, but she knew how to deal with him. He likes to set up a false premise: “We can all agree that the Democrats have these two problems, blah, blah, blah…..” Barbara knew what to do with him.

Just watched Hillary’s victory speech on her historic achievement. She did a great job rousing the crowd and putting Trump in a box and she was very gracious to Bernie Sanders. If he responds to this with anything less than the gracious acknowledgement she gave me, he will look like a lout. HRC has so many echoes of PBO with her vision of community, fairness and equal justice. She was good in her own right, but she is definitely the heir to his legacy. She said that her mother taught her to stand up to bullies and that it is the advice that will serve her well in the months ahead. I was proud of her and proud of the voters across this country who chose her.

When you look back at 2008, she has clearly progressed and has all the strong elements and intonations from the last 7 1/2 years of PBO and VP. She is a much better candidate and fighting all the right fights with a progressive tone.

A wonderful speech, measured and powerful on values, a surgical knife to Donald Trump, inspirational, especially as I think of my two young granddaughters. A good night for Hillary Clinton and a good night for the Obama legacy. She has won NJ big, has an upset victory in SD, a solid victory in NM. And will win CA.

As per 538 (and others) early CA returns are the earliest mail-in ballots, which historically come from the over-55 crowd. The next batch will be the Election Day votes, and the last batch will be the late mail-in ballots. Expect the lead to narrow.

“But more than any of them, Sanders is himself filled with resentment, on edge, feeling like he gets no respect — all while holding on in his head to the enticing but remote chance that Clinton may be indicted before the convention”

I’ve never gotten it Meta. I never, ever felt even the tiniest bit of “Bern”. Even back before he ran, I was soooo not impressed with him. He was like the McCain of the left, only making appearances on pundit shows, saying the same thing, never actually doing anything in the Senate.

It’s like BS became a “thing”, more about having the sticker or the shirt cause it’s what the “cool” kids are doing. I think attending a rally came to be like following the Grateful Dead. Sam Bee called him a “human Che Guevara T-shirt” That about sums it up, I guess.

Notice how he didn’t say anything whatsoever to quell the behavior. Just moved on to the next line in his speech, like it was just fine and dandy with him. That’s not the action of a leader who’s interested in eventually working toward party unity. I hope the party leaders don’t get him anything else to appease him. Enough with Bernie and his crap.

Totally agree. Bernie didn’t even acknowledge her as the official nominee. He just said it was a good night for her. Seriously, WTF? He’s meeting with POTUS in a few days…I want to be a fly on the wall for that one. Bernie is about to get sat down. lol

      GM Dudette.

Kamala Harris would have won outright if (this crazy state where I live) hadn’t fielded 34 US Senate candidates in yesterday’s primary. (For 2003 Gray Davis gubernatorial recall election, 103 candidates vied to lead the state.)

Despite the loons here, CA has always been a leader of US trends, and I’m pretty sure you have to go back to Reagan in the 1960s for the last time an anti-choice GOP candidate has won statewide office. Even Pete Wilson, who is pretty much reviled here now, was pro-choice and the first vote I ever cast for President was for pro-choice Pete McCloskey (who is still alive and who converted to Dem a few years ago LOL).

The leading GOP candidate for US Senate this year was pro-choice, pro same sex marriage Duf Sundheim, and he didn’t come close (results as of 12:30am EDT):

That seat comes up so rarely everybody and his brother feels they have to run. Congrats to Kamala for taking the lead. Sanchez really got smoked.

    Hmm, this is interesting.

California Approves Prop 50 Giving State Lawmakers More Say Over Peer Privileges
    http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/06/07/california-approves-prop-50-giving-state-lawmakers-more-say-over-peer-privileges/

“SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) — California voters on Tuesday gave state lawmakers the ability to suspend their colleagues’ pay along with their voting power when legislators are accused of wrongdoing while in office.

It was the lone, statewide ballot measure in the primary and was proposed by lawmakers who asked voters to give them greater latitude to judge their peers’ qualifications.

Voters agreed, with 77 percent favoring the measure.

Proposition 50 will allow legislators to suspend their colleagues’ privileges in the state Senate or Assembly.

Lawmakers sought the change after suspending Democratic Sens. Leland Yee, Ron Calderon and Rod Wright as they faced felony accusations in 2014, when all three faced criminal charges but had not yet been convicted. A state law prohibiting lawmakers’ pay from being reduced meant the three Democrats continued receiving paychecks while on suspension.

The proposal will permit harsher punishment, but also makes it more difficult to pull off.

The 40-person Senate or 80-person Assembly currently can suspend a member with pay with a simple majority of votes. Proposition 50 raises the voting threshold to two-thirds to suspend a member without pay…” <<< - I wonder if VOTERS were clued in to the last part about making it harder to discipline members.

They’re talking about Bernie. He said “The struggle continues” (invoking language from the Civil Rights movement). Said it twice near the end of his speech. You know he got that either from Corny West or Nina Turner. Smh

Santa Clara is part of Silicon Valley. But basically, Sanders was never going to win California. We are very near minority majority. Clinton has been working this crowd for years.

Quite interesting - some guy (TOm Friedman?) from the NYT is talking - he is voting for Hillary as the best of Trump, Sanders and Hillary. The other fools tried so hard to get him to say she is the best of a bad lot - or he would rather someone else but he just kept saying - these are our choices and she is by far the best.
