Good afternoon Nerdy & TOD!! Happy Sunday, everyone. Congrats COS, and thanks Nerdy for posting 🙂

Caroline and John Kennedy are such lovely smart people. I hope we see more of both of them.

The ONLY President, really. Some were there for all the wrong, or questionable reasons. PBO was there with clear vision and purpose. ❤️

It is always encouraging to me to see young people who speak with intelligence, restraint, and insight. Gives me reassurance for my ‘old age’.

    Afternoon/Morning, everybody…
& thank you Ms NerdyW for your continued efforts for this village.

decent people need this affirmation of democracy, common good and against hate and bigotry

The beginning of what I’m sure will be many well deserved commendations and accolades for the PBO’s achievements as POTUS and CIC, and tributes to him as a man of integrity, intelligence, courage, dignity, compassion, and grace.

He has extraordinary sanity and wisdom as well. He will help usher in a new world and the JFK award is just a reminder of the fact. I love President Obama for who he is and what he’s done and as a fellow who values cooperating for the common good.

But also…the French media and voters were not driven by senseless bigotry and white supremacy, and therefore were not as easily manipulated by the fool’s gold that Le Pen was selling.

      • May 7, 2017 at 5:42 pm

Exactly. Their media ignored wikileaks, Macron’s campaign had an effect counter-wikileaks strategy and their conservatives immediately endorsed her chosing country over party. Also they have direct suffrage with a mandatory majority. I remember when my daughter went to France for a year, I read a book about the cultural differences between the U.S.and France. One of the things it said was U.S. parents raise their children to be individuals; French parents raise their children to be good French citizens. Individuality is good, but I think we go too light on the responsibilities of citizenship. Oh and people were reporting the lowest turnout in years – at 75%!

Vive Le France! So glad that so far three EU countries have refused to let the haters take over their countries. This shitty mess in the US frightened people and made them stand up and vote in large numbers so that their countries would not become the disaster that this one has become. Other countries will be able to join together to rein in some of the Trump/GOP dangerous stupidity. The US had from WWII to 2016 to show the rest of the world that we had grown up and that the moniker “leader of the free world” would become a reality in spirit and practice. We failed. We are still dealing with the effects of our original sins of genocide, slavery, classism, (we were never a classless society) and uncontrolled greed and will not be a truly great nation worthy enough to lead the world until we confront what we really are and work to change. Under the current regime, we are rapidly become a rogue nation and other countries have the right and the responsibility to put us in check.

  25. May 7, 2017 at 3:12 pm

Soooo good to see the TRUMP HATE has been quarantined and not allowed to infect places beyond our shores.
The USA will however continue to work on a cure to rid us of our current Trump- induced malady.

Interesting that all three countries were occupied by Nazi Germany during WW2. They really do know what the resistance was all about and don’t want to have that experience repeated. Way to go France!!

I just watched the Macron speech on Italian television. It was inspirational, unifying, and filled with praise for human rights. It is notable that the theme of Macron’s campaign was “Fraternite'” . Heaven knows the world needs, especially the U.S. the healing balm of brotherhood/sisterhood.

Just got home and read the news of Macron’s overwhelming win….I am actually crying. Such a relief and such a victory. Vive la France indeed!
Now we have Trudeau and Macron…..anything similar here? The Enlightenment started in France, and we have tried to douse it. Hopefully these two countries will lead the way and give us hope for our way out of it.

What a concept for democracy! Every single vote is counted and counts equally! No horrible electoral college…..We must follow suit. I am so proud of my French heritage today.

Our TOD SoCal family got together to celebrate our lovely Tally’s birthday. Purpleshoes, GGail, Betsy, and Jojothecat met at Tally’s favorite place to have brunch. We all had mimosas, terrific food, talked politics, got loud, toasted Frances victory against fascist hate. When you listen to PBO you can’t go wrong! We all promised to meet up and visit the Obama Foundation when it open probably in 4yrs just in time to elect our next DEM President, God willing.

Thank you to TOD SoCal for helping each other stay sane, supporting each other, and continuing the fight, the resistance, for hope, peace, and make our planet a better place. Thank you Nerdy Wonka for keeping TOD going and a safe place for us to come each day. We miss U Chipsticks hope you are doing well. Special love and shout out to HZ, Dudette, VC, AMK, Desertflower, Yardarm and all my TOD peeps who keep this place going each and everyday.

Watching President Macron at the Louvre, I thought what a quintessentially French landmark…..and then thought to President Obama’s acceptance speech in Grant Park, a quintessentially American location in the middle of the country. How I wish we could still have President Obama, then President Obama, and P. M. Trudeau and Chancellor Merkel at the same time! The Brits are like us…..wallowing in the lowest common denominator.

Love the tweet of the baby named for Justin Trudeau. There is goodness in the world. And gratitude.

Heads up California TODers – this message is from WiW (Linda)’s OFA Sonoma Team. Join them if you can – or make a call.

Congressman Issa voted for a healthcare bill that unacceptable and puts lives in danger. CNN will be covering a protest at his Vista office this Tues. May 9th at 10AM. Please join us at 1800 Thibodo Road, #310 Vista CA. If you can’t make it – Please call his office at (760) 599-5000 and tell him why this bill harms your family.
