    Trump’s first official primary challenger:
“Former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld, fresh off launching his own GOP primary challenge against President Trump this week, says he has encouraged other Republicans to launch similar bids to take on Trump in 2020.” (The Hill)
“Among those that Weld has urged to jump in the race are former Ohio Gov. John Kasich and current Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan – hardly two leaders that should be dismissed….In addition to having as many as three or more serious primary challengers, Trump may have to participate in a primary debate – at least if former Gov. Weld has his way.” (Colarossi)
    https://www.politicususa.com/2019/04/16/two-more-republicans-might-primary-trump-in-2020.html
-little russian take note: Weld promises to be “ferocious”.

    Thank you.
I’ve been burning, just burning to say that while Europe was still in squalor, the beautiful complex cities of the Maya civilization had been thriving for millennia. Today over six million Mayan people live in Southern Mexico, Central America and the U.S. Most speak at minimum one European language and one of the remaining 24 Mayan languages.
    Burning to say:
Trump should study up and be THUNDERSTRUCK by those ancient civilizations just beyond our borders WAY prior to European contact.
-Talking about books, written languages, mathematics, poets, artists, athletes, architects and scientists who lived in these thriving cities.
-Talking about the noble ancestors of the beautiful people he is persecuting, kidnapping, jailing and torturing today.
    Burning to say:
Archaeological sites such as: El Baul, Becal, Calakmul, Caracol, El Caibal, Chichen Itza, Chunchukmil, Coba, Copán, Dos Pilas,
Dzibilchaltu, Iximche, Ixkun, Mayapan, El Mirador, Naachtun, Naranjo, Oxkintok, Palenque, El Peru, Piadras Niegras, Quiriguá, Qʼumarkaj,
San Bartolo, Tikal, Uxmal, Yaxchilan, Yaxha,
(Plus numerous, numerous more sites. Pls see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Maya_sites)
-They will continue on beneath our stars. But Trump will be dust.
-He will be dust and soon.

“According to a report from the New York Times on Wednesday,
some findings in Mueller’s final report “will not be news to President Trump,” because the White House and DOJ have already had
“numerous conversations” on Mueller’s conclusions. As a result, the president’s legal team has been able to get out in front of the Mueller report – which is expected to be damning – and craft a rebuttal.”
    https://www.politicususa.com/2019/04/17/bill-barr-has-been-feeding-trump-info-on-the-mueller-report-to-help-with-his-rebuttal.html

    • April 17, 2019 at 9:18 pm

      From the NYT report:
“Justice Department officials have had numerous conversations with White House lawyers about the conclusions made by Mr. Mueller, the special counsel, in recent days, according to people with knowledge of the discussions. The talks have aided the president’s legal team as it prepares a rebuttal to the report and strategizes for the coming public war over its findings.
A sense of paranoia is taking hold among some of Mr. Trump’s aides, some of whom fear his backlash more than the findings themselves, the people said. The report might make clear which of Mr. Trump’s current and former advisers spoke to the special counsel, how much they said and how much damage they did to the president — providing a kind of road map for retaliation.
The discussions between Justice Department officials and White House lawyers have also added to questions about the propriety of the decisions by Attorney General William P. Barr since he received Mr. Mueller’s findings late last month.”

    • April 17, 2019 at 9:20 pm

“In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, American Constitution Society President Caroline Fredrickson said it looks like Trump
and the DOJ are “coordinating” in “another act of obstruction.”

If you ever see Cynthia Erivo performing in your neighborhood, grab those tickets pronto. You’ll have a fab evening. My nephew, who was visiting from across the pond, & I were truly blown away at her performance at the Kennedy Center, which has amazing acoustics regardless of your seating, was a homage to legendary women of song. Nina Simone, Etta James, Gladys Knight, Shirley Bassey, Tracy Chapman, etcetera, etcetera! And most fun, she started the show w/ “Ave Maria”, operatic version. Blew me away! And she got all of us singing backup singers, even the “woo-hoo” to “Midnight train to GA”. At end, she took us to church w/ “Take My Hand Precious Lord”. So many, can’t name them all here. Her voice carried all those magnificent women’s voices in her fab homage. And she had the National Symphony Orchestra performing w/ her. The entire show was magnificent!

    Here’s a bit about her:

      • April 18, 2019 at 12:20 am

First time I heard about her was when she played Celie in Broadway Color Purple. Then she was in movie Widows. Had no idea at her absolutely fab range of voice, magnificence & presence until that show.

      • April 18, 2019 at 12:32 am

Dudette, what blew me away is that she’s a petite lady, and then her voice just soars. Wot! And she’s fun! All the times I’ve attended shows at Kennedy Center, I haven’t seen the audience spontaneously becoming backup singers. It was a beaut to experience folks of races & ages just rocking the joy.

      • April 18, 2019 at 12:42 am

MT, you’ll love her. She’s a multi talent. Told my nephew that I thought I was watching & listening to a concert of at least 4 divas. Imagine that w/ the symphony orchestra as your backdrop! Happy land! 💃

Hey Family! I’ve got some Obama scoop! It may turn out to be nothing, but a friend of mine in Hilton Head says there’s a rumor going around the island the President O maybe coming there for this weekend’s PGA tournament. A bunch of advance security has blocked off and guarded part of her neighborhood near the golf club.
Told her I need photos — Don’t care what she has to do to get them. 😁

    From the essay..

So take today for what it is: Bill Barr’s last-ditch effort to salvage Trump’s presidency. He is not releasing the full Mueller Report, but rather his censored version of what he claims to have read. Jerry Nadler and the Democrats know this and although they aren’t going all-in like some of our hair-on-fire lefties would like, their slow, methodical long game is the correct play in this situation. After today, there is more Mueller Report to see and Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff, Maxine Waters, Elijah Cummings, Rich E. Neal, and Nancy Smash Pelosi will be damn sure the American people see it.

The problem with Barr’s claim that Trump ‘fully cooperated’ with Mueller investigation:
“Despite Barr’s claims this week, Trump notably took numerous steps throughout the duration of Mueller’s investigation to avoid ever being interviewed face-to-face by the special counsel’s team. Multiple reports pegged his reluctance to the fact that Trump’s lawyers were afraid the president would perjure himself in the process.”
    https://thinkprogress.org/barr-claims-trump-fully-cooperated-with-mueller-probe-despite-interview-refusal-51318f12e527/
-Barr wants you to wear that blindfold Trump gave you.

  57. April 18, 2019 at 11:34 am

This thing has ALL the juice.

  58. April 18, 2019 at 11:46 am

    “Throughout the astounding press conference,
Barr absolutely confirmed that he is not the attorney general of the United States, but Donald Trump’s lead defense counsel.
    Some points:
    1) Barr’s “frustration” defense of Trump’s actions was made on an apparent evaluation of “sincere belief,” a legal term related to state of mind, though Trump never testified to the special counsel. It seems likely this is Barr’s evaluation, not Mueller’s.
    2) Barr quite clearly recognized the weakness of this argument, growing angry when a reporter asked about it and almost immediately leaving the stage.
    3) The way in which Barr brought up and hurried past his statement on WikiLeaks would seem to indicate that there are some serious allegations in this section of the report that do not look good for Trump or his campaign.
    4) The statement that Barr will make available to congressional leaders a version of the report from which all redactions are removed except those related to grand jury testimony was perhaps the only thing that might count as news that appeared during the press conference. Though that testimony clearly forms a critical part of the report.
    5) All of Barr’s statements about Mueller, despite his casual use of “Bob,” indicate that he has not spoken to Mueller directly since the release of his letter to Congress.”

    Barr’s absurd ‘frustration defense’:
“Was it when Trump fired FBI director James Comey? How about when Trump attempted to get then attorney general Jefferson Sessions to unredact himself so he could end the investigation? Threatening Rod Rosenstein? Trying to get the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York replaced? Authoring a letter from Air Force One that provided Donald Trump Jr. with a false alibi for having a meeting with Russian operatives in Trump Tower? How many such events would it have taken before Trump could be held accountable? Barr gave Trump ten free swings, but would eleven have been out of the question? A hundred? A thousand? Barr gives no limits, but it’s clear that the real limits are always somewhere on the other side of whatever action Trump takes. The power of frustration gives Trump authority over law. This theory isn’t just ridiculous, Barr knows it is ridiculous.”

You have got to see this. Trump is bald. His dementia must’ve been really bad that day because he doesn’t realize he doesn’t have his wig on. This is the image that should be used by every Democrat along with the video of the woman who Trump had come on stage and run her hands thru his hair pretending that his wig was not a wig. https://twitter.com/TomthunkitsMind/status/1118651688754339840

Wasn’t prepared to acknowledge this as soundly, but MSNBC – even in a commercial-free several hours – is giving great coverage to the Mueller Report.

I’m sure now that trump will go down.

Even some of the legal types on MSNBC seem to be getting a bit emotional. Personally, I feel like crying for our democracy. But luckily SO MANY REAL AMERICANS are stepping up and meeting this awful challenge, head on.

    • April 18, 2019 at 12:49 pm

      Whopper Club on parade.
Barr unilaterally decided to break the longstanding protocol of Attorney General independence from the President. And how!
So now apprehend the both of them. Upside: 1) They can keep each other company. 2) Trump can even get time off to visit The Hague.
      All good.

  65. April 18, 2019 at 12:47 pm

    Very good thread here:

  66. April 18, 2019 at 1:04 pm

Julia Ainsley of NBC News reported,
“The special counsel did consult the office of legal counsel opinion that you cannot indict a sitting president. That counters what William Barr said earlier today that that was not taken into consideration. The special counsel said in a traditional investigation, we would not have to think about the fact that we’re talking about the president of the United States. This changes that.” (politicus.usa)
