perfect day indeed
YOU.simply.rock.
from those of us at work…
THANK YOU SO MUCH
President Barack Obama indeed deserved the overwhelming response he got in Ireland today, thank You Ireland, and thank You Chipsticks for all the heartwarming photographs…just wonderful!
Chipsticks - I spent the morning watching the live feed, and now I can relive it all going through the comments and pictures. Should get through this just in time for the London activities… Thanks for keeping us posted on all events!
Double Ditto!
He is embracing Megan Smolenyak, the genealogist who researched both of the Obamas’ roots.
Good to know! I heard her interviewed on my local radio a few weeks ago and she was excited that her work has resulted in this visit to Moneygall by PBO.
I am back. Been in Lawrence, Kansas for 5 days. I am soooo happy to be back. My niece got married on Saturday, and just after the vows were made, the tornado sirens began. One hit down but went back up almost immediately. Topeka was not so lucky.
Lots of good info and fabulous pictures Chipstick. I listen to the AIPAC lecture and thought it magnificent. dr
Congratulations on your niece’s wedding, and escaping the brunt of the storms. Looks like you have a lot of catching up to do - today was fabulous, for Ireland, the President and all of us!
Hi Dorothy, Congrats on you niece’s wedding! I hope the tornado did spoil the festivity. Thankfully you escaped it. I hope and trust that your relatives are all o.k. Nice to have you back!
Well done Chipsticks Well Done!
Thanks a million, Chipsticks!
All of your sharing from this remarkable day
was truly priceless with so many memorable classics.
You have been excellent, Chip, posting all the vids and all those amazing, amazing photos. Moneygall was so heartwarming and touching, and that huge enormous crowd in Dublin, showering our President and First Lady with so much love and enthusiastically cheering his speech. It was such fun watching the whole thing unfold, all those joyful, beautiful, Irish faces and hands reaching out for our President. That little redheaded lassie Obama held—-so cute the way she was smiling at him. It was quite an experience. I imagine the Obamas were very touched as well with the overwhelming, loving welcome they received.
Thank you so much chips for giving as darn near a lived experience of today’s events as possible. Godbless.
It has been a great day. Sorry to sully this blog with this but Backstabber Halpren said that strong repug contenders aren’t joining the race not because PBO is strong but because the repugs just don’t have the fire in the belly. Then he said that he’d been following Huntsman for the last few days and he could become the next president of the United States. Heavenly Father, please rid us of that loser Mark Halpren and if not, then at least seal his treasonous mouth. Chris was not pleased with his assessment, neither was I.
Saw that. I wish he would go away. Such a hater.
The beltway villagers are so hellbent on ‘restoring” the plutocracy in the White House they will do violence if necessary to get it. Of course Pres. Obama saved the country from economic disaster so they now come crawling out of the woodwork to reclaim the country for their ilk.
In their minds Pres. Obama is the “janitor” whom they need to get rid off now that the country is on its way to recovery. But they ha no idea the power of the forces that back this President. Let them dream on.
Their dream is not gonna be realized.
Oh puleeze! Halperin will stake his hopes and even talk up a chipmunk or dog over PBO!
Halperin with his mouth permanently twisted and mishapen from lies and hate, is a low-life who will do and say anything as long as it ensures PBO’s defeat!
They are desperate. Their candidates are a bunch of uninspiring hypocrites and liars who are also incompetent. They’re trying to put lipstick on a bunch of pigs and the media is trying to help.
Remember this is the same Halperin guy who was praising McCain for handling the economy well and that McCain was winning the debate. He was about the only one who saw it that way and he was wrong.
This is all wishful thinking. They are like children blowing out birthday candles on their cakes and wishing for a pony, with nary a chance of getting that pony.
Go freaking figure.
He’s also a Palin slave. I discount every single thing he says.
This has been a party. Whew. What a treat. Very much needed by the American and Irish folks. Thanks so much Chips. Can’t wait to see what you bring us tomorrow. We love you much.
PBO just touched down in London:
http://wwitv.com/tv_channels/b5791.htm
He was to be met at the airport by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Wales but now he will be greeted by the US Ambassador and taken to that residence to spend the night. Then tomorrow around noon local time he will be met by Prince Charles and Camilla and taken to Buckingham for a formal welcome ceremony.
Thanks for the update Meta. Now I will go home and take a nap so I will be up early for the events in the morning.
Despite all that travel today, Mrs. Obama looks stunning. And now they’ve been swept away to the Ambassador’s.
That is awesome. Prince Charles actually went to the airport to meet our American president. Wow
Actually, Prince Charles didn’t go to the airport. They sent a “Lord in Waiting” and the General Manager of the small city airport that they landed in. Apparently Prince Charles is supposed to go to the embassy tomorrow and pick them up.
Thanks for your great work today, Chipsticks. The entire day was indeed “perfect.”
Just adding my thanks to Chipsticks for sharing the Joy of a Good Day in Ireland.
President Obama need to listen to the Secret Services and stop hugging so much and letting folks get to close. I nice firm hand shake is good enough. I know he worries these Secret Services guys. I know I shouldn’t feel that way, but I do.
The Secret Service can handle it. There are so many of them we don’t even see. I don’t think anyone could have kept those enthusiastic happy people away from our President and First Lady today. Ireland has been waiting for this for a LONG time! I’m glad they got such a rousing welcome….He gave such a speech of hope and optimism, recognizing past troubles, but complimenting their resilience and spirit. There were over 100,000 people for the speech in Dublin according to a Dublin paper.
Thanks Chipsticks and the rest of you here for a wonderful day. It was great watching the coverage with you here today.
I have not had a chance to comment until now, although I have been keeping up with today’s activities on my Blackberry throughout the day. What an amzaing day for President Obama and Mrs. Obama. The Irish are such a warm, welcoming people…this has instantly gone on my list of the places I must visit. The comments on TOD were great - funny and informative (and a little snarky, especially when conversations turned to our “esteemed” media- lol).
Chips, you continue to do a fabulous job with this website and thank you for making it so easy for us O supporters to keep up with our very busy and wonderful President.
Love that video montage. I love the music and all of the video. A great day!
Hah!!! Thanks for the Imelda May sound track. Johnny gotta boom boom!! LOVE her!
Today we were all Irish. Seeing all the love they gave our President and First Lady, I wanted to change my name and put an
apostrophe in it. Thank you so much Chips, this site is a work of love and those that come here daily find a true sense of community. I am pushing for a summer vacation to Ireland now!
Dear Chipsticks,
Thank you so much for this wonderful blog. I wish more Americans were exposed to your site to view the President the way you cover him on a daily basis. Of course to-day was very special day and your coverage was phenomenal! Thank you for all the hard work you put in, day in and day out, to help us appreciate this incredible man we elected President.
