On March 8th 2011 President Obama took questions from a group of Boston Area College Democrats, Republicans and Independents after his speech at Tech Boston Academy in Dorchester, MA.
POTUS is so comfortable in his skin, that he can talk to anyone and make sense! That was a great talk with those students. I bet they walked out of that meeting with a different mindset than when they walked in. And I bet they said “wow, he is soooo smart”!
Wonderful video. He must have been a sight to behold as a Law Professor. If you only listen to Fox News and read only rightwing papers and blogs, he’s a liberal tree hugging socialist/communist, if you only listen to MSNBC and read only leftwing papers and blogs then he’s a wallstreet, corporate puppet interested in selling out the middle and working class. I’m glad he pointed out that one can always marry ideology, prinicples and pragmatism in an adult manner. We compromise everyday and know that we cannot always get 100% of everything, we know that there are people in this world that we would never want to have anything to do with because their prinicples, work ethic and manner are far apart from ours, but we suck it up, come together, compromise and find a middle ground. Why? Because that is the sign of maturity. Finally, I’m glad he called out Huffington Post and they’re disgusting abhorrent tabloid headlines that have NOTHING to do with the content of an article.
PBO is always aware. Even he knows what nasty trolls Arianna and her minions are. I love how he was like: just because you compromise and don’t get or expect to get 100% of what you want, doesn’t mean you can’t be honorable, doesn’t mean you aren’t principled. (or something like that). He was so real with them, just like always. I hope they listened and actually heard what he said.
I tried to post this on Facebook and word press wants access to my personal information. Is this usual? can somebody let me know. [email protected] thanks.
I would love to see this video trending on twitter. I have sent it to Rachel, Lawrence and Tweety. Will also send it to the major networks. They can’t ignore this. This is what real leadership looks like. In less than 4 minutes he explains how to get things done in a democracy. I am blown away by this.
We are truly blessed to have this man at this time. Just like the President, I am hopeful that we are going to get through this…he is such a great leader. We are blessed!
This amazing man continues to AMAZE. There is no end to his brilliance and intellect. Not only that he is so darn CHARISMATIC and engaging. Too bad a large fraction of the American public can’t see the wonderful job he is doing in the Whitehouse, but they do LOVE his personality according to recent polls showing his personal likability to be at 71%. Folks that’s over 2/3rds of the nation which would include many Conservatives. ThankGod we have him hired as our HIGHEST public servant. We must re-elect this man. Obama/Biden 2012!!
Imagine if the internet was around in the late 1700s, we would not have a country. The point regarding the emancipation proclamation is similar to the reality regarding the passage of the SS act. In both cases they were not perfect but each in its own way helped to bring the US closer to being a more perfect union. But with today 24 hour media we are constantly being bombarded with outrage for this outrage for that with the reality that folks don’t know what’s actually happening and just mouthing off so that they can be heard/seen.
anniebella, you all snatched me from the jaws of the HPstark. Although I had stopped commenting (long before AH sold to AOL) that was the only place I knew to go for info. A commentor included the TOD link…I clicked on the link and I have been here ever since!
Hi Chips…the WH tweeted this video afternoon and just put up a blog post. I wonder if your post made them remember this event? They need you on their team…
WH staffers, PBO…if you’re lurking on TOD, please consider putting Miss Chips on your team
It looks like this amazing little video has become yet another arrow in President Obama’s quiver. The disciplined messaging continues with commentary from David Plouffe that echoes what President Obama said today at the press conference.
COMPROMISE ISN’T A DIRTY WORD

Back in March, I was in the room as President Obama spoke to a group of young Americans of different political persuasions in Massachusetts. He spoke candidly and openly about the importance of compromise in our democracy — even from people who care passionately about their position.
Did anyone see Lawerence tonight? I was with him for the most part, until he insinuated that PBO was not sincere about wanting to get “the big deal”. Jonathan Adler somewhat disagreed…he said PBO always wanted “the big deal”. And then Lawrence said PBO always knew he would never get “the big deal”…Jonathan said that was true, but at one point a few weeks/days ago it looked like maybe something could have passed. Lawerence said that window had closed a long time ago and Jonathan agreed. I would imagine Lawerence has seen a lot, heard a lot and know more crooked politicians without a heart and/or no real desire to make Washington/Government work for the people…so, perhaps he wouldn’t know a honest politician if one slapped him in his face. I believe PBO maybe a politician, but I also believe his heart is sincere, he truly want to make America great…he knows what he is working with and what is against him, his heart is good…in the right place and he is still hopeful (as he said today).

If he wasn’t interested in politics and organizing, I think he’d be a GREAT teacher. I love videos like these.
He was a college professor and according to all reports was extremely popular with the students.
Yes I know he taught Constitutional law at the Univ. of Chicago.
Seems like a cool professor.
Rachel, Ed, Adam, Jane, Jon, Keith and the rest of them should take a class or two from PBO…they would learn something!
That would require that they have open minds… Or that they would/could shut up long enough to listen.
THANK YOU very much, Chips!! His brilliance, humor and pragmatic streak are what set him apart.
Brilliant!
I concur.! This should be put on facebook and twitter for all young people/adults to see………liife through the lens of reality
Great idea. PBO stands alone. As much as I like many democrats, they only see things from their own perspective.

Tks Chips. This was on point for me. The one big point i got was that before you believe a headline, you better check the source.

[email protected] thanks.
Facebook has been doing some strange things lately…
They make me do one of those spam tests when I post links from this site to my facebook page…
Don’t allow them access to your personal information, instead just copy and paste the url to the ‘what’s on your mind’ prompt on your profile page…

“politics is the art of the possible” This President embodies that phrase!

Wonder what that thing Arrianna Huff think about what he said about Huff Post. He told the truth about that piece of rag., HP.
