Bloomberg editorial: How exactly, according to Republicans, is President Barack Obama supposed to have caused the current economic malaise and high unemployment?
…. With remarkable unanimity, Republican leaders in Congress and the party’s presidential candidates have parroted a one-word explanation: “uncertainty”. While many political tropes are abused on a bipartisan basis the “uncertainty” lament is a largely Republican creation.
… there is no evidence that uncertainty has increased during the Obama presidency, or that, if it has, the president’s policies are responsible for it….
The charge of “creating uncertainty” is a way to blame Obama for the U.S.’s economic trials without having to explain the connection. In fact, if anyone in the political world is responsible for creating uncertainty, it is the Republicans. Look at last month’s debt-ceiling imbroglio, which left the world wondering whether the United States would even honor its debts - something that was never uncertain before. The decision to turn a routine vote to raise the debt ceiling into a high-stakes game of chicken was made by the Republican House leadership.
… In the campaign to be the party’s presidential nominee, candidates like Perry and Bachmann claim that Social Security is unconstitutional or that vaccines cause mental retardation. Would they really follow through on some of their wilder positions? If any of the top-tier Republican candidates is elected president - even Romney, who promises to repeal health-care reform on day one - we might all look back with longing on the calm, restful environment of the Obama administration.

One thing is for sure, while the democrats are all over the map, their is only one message from republicans! And that is- it’s obamas fault!
Maybe the dnc should start running ads against democrats! Lol!
Wow Chips, this is a good one. Surprised that it is coming from Bloomberg.
It’s a very good article and the truth!
Hiya COS, I had to keep re-checking that it was Bloomberg, amazing!
WOW, my jaw is officially dropped. As the MSM tries to convince us every day that the GOP is a viable party with perfectly normal values, positions and candidates, it’s astonishing that Bloomberg would pull back the curtain. MORE, please.
I did the same Chips. I kept waiting for something that said “Gotcha”.
Crikey. Who gave truth serum to Bloomberg? Good article. Thanks Chips.

Thank you. It is so refreshing to see a major media entity come this close to telling the truth about the Radical Republicans. We can only hope the others get a clue. I know it’s unfortunate but well-known that facts often have a liberal bias and reporting them to the right is tantamount to a slap in the face but it has to be done or this country and the world is in serious trouble.
It’s about time that some are slapping the Rs in the face, after their lies. Hope it keeps up!
Oops…”are” in serious trouble.
They might nail this middle east peace Thingy;

The thought of either of these Candidates become elected, semds chills down my spine, frightening, SCARYYYYYYYYYYYYY
There are no words.
Dare I hope that the dignity, competence, rationality, honesty, openness, fairness, plain common sense that President Obama and his team have so fully demonstrated in the past two years and a half are FINALLY beginning to pay off ? I mean… Everyone who’s not completely blinded by ideology and has some grasp of basic economics can’t deny that the Obama team are “the only adults in the room” !
Note: I just watched the press briefing with Geitner and Lew. They inspire confidence. And I have to say I’ve thought for a long time that Mr. Geitner has been treated very unfairly by the “left”. I’ve watched him a few times on the White House Youtube Channel; watched even the non-verbal… This man is honest and dedicated, I’m pretty sure of it. He didn’t “destroy” the banks because he wanted to avoid a global collapse, not because he wanted to “save his buddies”. When all the dust settles and the history of these years are written, and especially the history of what when “on the inside”, we’ll realize the complexity and the gravity of what the Obama team had to navigate through. They’ve not told us everything.
“what went on ” inside, of course. Sorry for the typo.
Am I in an alternate universe? A smart, savvy article about PBO in Bloomberg? I must be dreaming, but I like it.
It’s about time that my new motto sees some action. My motto : Truth has no political affiliation.
My guess is that they finally realized that if any of these republicans get into office, the world’s economy will crash. They may hate President Obama, but they know he is sane, and what’s more he gets along with foreign leaders. Can you imagine any of the candidates speaking to foreign leaders?
