Don’t leave out Malia, and Sasha, Grandma, and yes, Bo too. We love them all.
NO TAXES PLEDGE SIGNERS ARE NOT FIT TO GOVERN – THEY ARE SHEEP
Signing Away The Right To Govern
=================================
It used to be that a sworn oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution was the only promise required to become president. But that no longer seems to be enough for a growing number of Republican interest groups, who are demanding that presidential candidates sign pledges shackling them to the corners of conservative ideology. Many candidates are going along, and each pledge they sign undermines the basic principle of democratic government built on compromise and negotiation.
.
.
More was needed to keep them in line, which gave birth to the signed pledge — no more enforceable than a spoken promise, but a politician’s actual signature was seen as more binding. The oldest and most pernicious of these modern oaths was dreamed up by Grover Norquist, the leader of Americans for Tax Reform, who has managed to get 95 percent of all Republicans in Congress to pledge never to raise taxes for any reason. If they end tax deductions, Mr. Norquist’s pledge-takers say they will match the increase in revenue with further tax cuts.
That pledge is the single biggest reason the federal government is now on the edge of default. Its signers will not allow revenues in a deal to raise the debt ceiling.

“Signing Away The Right To Govern” even the NYTimes gets it nytimes.com/2011/07/19/opi… Grover & the GOP are a much graver threat than OBL ever was
#PRESSON
Bob I agree about OBL. He orchestrsted devaststion on a section while the repubs are trying to take out the entire country.
SOME GOP RESISTANCE TO GROVER NORQUIST
Zealots’ Remorse
=================
A welcome touch of resistance is in the air toward Grover Norquist, the conservative lobbyist and Capitol Hill fixture who has been brilliant at wrenching a simplistic pledge from all but six House Republicans to never, ever increase taxes.
“It’s time to put pledges in a bonfire,” Representative Steven LaTourette of Ohio, a past pledger, declared the other day, after helping to enlist 39 fellow Republicans to join 60 Democrats in a letter to the budget deficit supercommittee urging a grand bargain that dares to include new revenues as well as spending cuts.
This is anathema to Mr. Norquist, who as head of Americans for Tax Reform has spent the last 25 years building a public roll of pledges from antitax politicians. He is wielding it like a cudgel against any move in the supercommittee to raise taxes.
.
.
With his ability to bless or terrorize conservatives, Mr. Norquist enjoys access to and influence over the Republican leadership. So it’s good to see some former pledge takers realize that the only allegiance they owe is to their constituents, not to Grover Norquist.
===================
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/14/opinion/zealots-remorse.html?_r=1&ref=grovergnorquist
It’s good to see that ol’ Grover is finally being dragged into the light of day. Shine it brightly on that treasonous skunk.
And you can tell from that interview clip ad that he feels sheepish about his ability to wield power. Smarmy as all get-out. Kinda hard to tell Republicans that he’s going to get them ‘other employment’ if the Republican voters are actually okay with tax raises. If Norquist goes around bashing politicians for raising taxes, it just might fall on deaf ears. This is the power of the message that the Obama Admin has crafted so brilliantly that people are buying that message, not the ‘no tax’ message, which just might be on its last legs.
For one thing, the voters might just decide these no tax people need to find other employment anyway, so they’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Sucks to be a Republican.
Funny how the no tax people are paid with taypayer’s dollars. You know — taxes.
Go figure.
Brawawa..”Zealots Remorse”.. too weird those people who are living off the government pledging to a bathtub guy.
I heard PObama mention the repubs who did want to come to a balanced agreement in that Presser where he just walked off after saying “Thanks”.
Way good to see gop thinking about their constituents instead of gn. I remembering something about one of those pubs had some people in their District who were upset that he had pledged to grover.
So Grover Norquist is runing the GOP? wooow!!!!!!
Mel, ask Mr. Cain who is really brain washed? Blacks or the Republican Party. Grover Norquist have them all under his spell.
I’m first! I’m first!—- I’m such a dork
okay. I’m not first. that’ll show me. :|
 Poor Lisa!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I know Chips. I haz a sad, :( Only the sight of PBO and Miche in a few minutes will turn my frown upside down, {{{sticks out my bottom lip in a pout with huge, tear filled calf eyes}}}}}}
You’re not a dork ….you’re our lisa and we love you just the way you are:) Though, I have to say, dorks and nerds are ok….
Lisa’s hubby Gov Christie would agree with you on that one.
hahahahahahahahhahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
You’re FIRST in our book everyday lisa!
Running out for wine with the girls! Maybe I’ll be in rare form when I return! Hold the fort down…and don’t crowd the mat!
“Maybe I’ll be in rare form when I return!”
Could be an “UH OH” moment, Chips :) That’s what USUALLY happens when we get together…the ONLY saving grace is, that I have to work tomorrow! Might save me….
Oh Chipsticks, what will we do without you? Oh, desertflower have a few glasses for me, please! Have a great time.HZ
HZ, don’t encourage desertflower! When she returns from her few glasses I fear the naughtiness level will be terrifying.
PS Oh crikey, she’s back!!!!!
Oh, I spoke too soon. Chipsticks, maybe desertflower will probably be so mellow out that along with our handsome cowboyish fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee POTUS, the entire country might have another tune for our National Anthem. Oh, and we will allow Mitty to sing it.HZ
Oh, hi HZ!
Hi vcprezofan2. Get ready for sharing from desertflower and a singing rendition of our National Anthem performed by Mitty.HZ
Country music outreach tonight, NASCAR yesterday.
Is it just me, or are they letting the tea party know that he is your President too?
They’ve had country music before.
To hell with those Nascar idiots.
Lol!
Let me step back for a minute, because I don’t believe all the Nascar people were booing.
Yes, the Obama Family reaches out. It is their nature. And their philosophy. Whether or not those they reach out to also extend their hand in partnership if their choice.
Such choices reveal the souls of those involved.
Little by little, step by step. It’s working.
‘Yes, the Obama Family reaches out. It is their nature. And their philosophy.’
It’s also how they got elected. Lots of ppl from all walks of life who believe in the promise and pride of what it means to be American and who recognize that he is the one who will help us regain our footing in these regards after the dreaded Bush years (the lost decade of American exceptionalism)
This is arguably the only country that isn’t founded on a common faith, language, ethnic background or status in life. We are Americans because we believe in the pledge, constitution & bill of rights. The republicans have been screwing with all three! They are bound for certain doom
Do anyone remember the western call Gunsmoke? I can imagine a gentlemen riding into the city of Dodge, and saying hello can you tell me where Marshall Dillion is? And they ask who may I say is calling, he gives you that wide grin of his and say, kindly tell him that Barack Obama would like to speak to him, sir. He’s looking fine in that cowboy hat.
Yes, our President is looking fine in the cowboy hat indeed. Anniebella, that know how to live the truth of their hearts. We are truly blessed to have him as our President of the United States of America.HZ
Okay…Chris M. live…falling all over the President…loves him again…knows what was in the bill….thanks him for the VETO!! Remembers the separation of powers by the constitution…this is a CONGRESS PROBLEM!!! Compared him to a strong leader like JFK..and lil ronny
He must have felt the sting of the push back on Twitter and elsewhere. He doesn’t want to be seen as a racist, and most importantly he doesn’t want his show boycotted on accusations of racist remarks like Glen Beck. He’s in damage control mode.
Schizophrenic
amen….that’s what I was thinking all weekend. Maybe his book isn’t selling and his publist said to knock off all the Obama bashing, you’re alienating a segment of people who could buy your book…FAIL! We Obamabots would NEVER buy that rag.
Exactly!
Bi-Polar Disorderly Conduct.
Yep!!!
Double Yep!!!
I see he took the right pills today.
Yea, nasty, I know.
But probably true. This guy is very bi-polar politically. Daily or even hourly.
lol. “gotta remember; blue pills not red. blue not red. blue not red.”
:) Mother’s little helper….
My thoughts, exactly.
wait.. . . ya’ll still watching Tweety?
lololol
Happy he’s stopped bashing President Obama (for now) but his constant back and forth and his hyperbole are making him lose any credibility he had left.
You have got to be kidding!? LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOL! He still SUCKS!
Chris Matthews is now praising President Obama for being strong and a leader.
I told you guys, Chris Matthews seem to have a mental problem.
He’s manipulative. He speaks on both sides of his mouth to attract viewers from both sides of the aisle.
He talks about Newt and Mitt, but he is a serial flip-flopper himself. A quick video of his many positions will probably be good therapy for him.
David Corn called Newt a gyrator the other night. He could say the same of his buddy, Tweety. Go figure.
It’s all abut the money…and I could be wrong (I hope that I am) but I think he has made some deal with Bill Clinton. Last week he was on Morning Joke and they (especially Tweety) were praising Hillary to high heave…she is the greatest, she is wonderful, she is all that and a bag of chips. I do not trust him.
You’re reminding me of something Jonarhan Alter said a few weeks ago about the possibility that Barack Obama would have to “swallow his pride” and ask Hillary to be on the ticket for 2012.
I too, of course, could be very wrong but I’ve felt very uneasy for months about the Clinton allies; I’ve felt that they are attempting to weaken President Obama and force him to give them more power within the administration.
That quote makes me regret having bought Jonathan Alter’s books. It’s just so disrespectful and ungrateful to Vice President Biden for people to continue this nonsense of replacing him with Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden has been entirely loyal, hardworking, committed and fierce in his role. Plus, he successfully implemented major programs that were assigned to him - without scandal. He deserves respect.
PObama never has to swallow any pride..that’s not in his dna or how he operates. That’s a silly expression for Alter to use.
I remember getting on that piece on his on Benen’s page and saying it wasn’t going to happen.
Hi,
Is there a reason VP Biden wouldn’t be on the ticket?
Have you noticed Chris Matthews is guilty of the same flip flops he accuses Newt and Mitt of in his own political philosophy?
His praise is not going to wash with me, because he didn’t only go after President Obama, he went after our wonderful First Lady and that was not call for. It’s always been the rule, President is fair game, after all he was the one elected, but leave the First Lady and family along. Matthews didn’t do that. And he and his show can go straight to you know where as far as I am concern.
I’m with you anniebella…there is nothing he can say that will matter to me…I simply do not trust him. I think he will do and say anything that will keep his pockets fat.
Me thinks he needs some depakote!
Depakote is used to control seizures. My son is epileptic and has never behaved like Tweety. Depakote will not help him. What he needs is a “values” implantation. The man stands for nothing. He has no core.
Chris Matthews voted for Bush twice and pushed memes that mirror right-wing slander (e.g. Righ Wingers: the President is arrogant, Chris Matthews: The President is ungrateful; RW: The First Lady is an angry and un-proud American, CM: The First Lady is unhappy and ungrateful in the White House)
Chris Matthews has permanently squandered any shred of goodwill he ever had. Having served under President Jimmy Carter, Matthews knows very well how false and derogatory memes can frame public perception and damage a President’s ability to get important work done.
Fortunately Matthews only reaches on average 685,000 people per week. The President can average millions when he goes on air and more importantly can attract more than a million donors and volunteers focused on his re-election.
Shorter, to hell with Chris Matthews.
FiredUp - 1
PBO - 1
Tweety - 0
Still boycotting his butt unless he apologizes for his ugly attacks. I hope he has felt our sting.
Co-sign!!
Right there with you FiredUpInCA - when someone tells and shows you repeatedly who they are. . . believe them.
AMEN!
He voted for Bush twice… Let’s say he didn’t like Gore for some reason. But voting for Bush in 2004 ?!!
Disparaging Clinton when he was in office, singing his praises now…
Praising Barack Obama , bashing him, praising him again.
The man is certainly superficial. He may be mentally unstable, or simply a comedian who gives us theater day after day and “adjusts” his opinions to the needs of the moment ( ratings, demands of the producers, deals with political figures, … Who knows…)
It’s like an abusive relationship. He tries to beat down the Obama supporters, and then he throws a bone. The thing is - those vile words were uttered from his mouth. He can’t take them back. And I have no desire to support such ugliness.
Baby, baby, baby, I didn’t mean it. I won’t do it again. (until tomorrow)
Theo67, you have said a mouthful. That is how I am. I do not give my money to those who try to treat me disrespectful in a store, nor do I allow anyone to abuse me in any manner. Chirs will not have me as a viewer. Do need Chris. I need President Obama, so I spent my time contacting friends and family on why POB is the person for 2012.
I received a great response from all. It was a great time spent well.HZ
I still dislike tweety he is full of shit I do not trust him at all and do not pay attention to him.
I do not believe that his bread is done.
I was not please with that Alex Witt either, because she sat there and let Matthews go after FLOTUS like that. She should have stop him or at least said something in her defense, but she didn’t. I sent her a letter Saturday.
http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2011/11/21/video-president-obama-discusses-super-committees-failure/
Looks like our gorgeous man got a haircut. :D
Am I the only one who doesn’t like fresh haircuts? I don’t like them on anyone, but Obama—-still gorgeous.
I love them.
In southwestern Pennsylvania, a group of volunteers came together last Thursday to call voters and spread the word about Women for Obama. Shirley, a local supporter was there and reports:
“Word of mouth and an email from First Lady Michelle Obama brought out volunteers from near and far, old and new. From the youngest, Kyah Anne (11) to the most senior, Kay (74), phonebankers made hundreds of calls reaching out to women in the East Liberty, Homewood and Wilkinsburg communities to let them know about this important initiative and to recruit new volunteers for President Obama’s 2012 campaign.”

Michelle Just took my breath away. Grand Dieu, Quelle est belle!
Huffington says now that she is disappointed in Obama and could even see herself voting Republican in the next presidential election. “To me,” she says, “the issues are more important than the party.” She pauses. “Trust me, I realize how hard it is to change the system, but Obama has demonstrated only the fierce urgency of sometime later, and at the same time the middle class is under assault”—she smiles—“which is of course the topic of my last book.”
It was mentioned in a previous thread.
I wanted to check her exact words. Vile hypocrite. I can’t stand her
Except last spring, she was on the bill maher show, bill asked her same question.
She said, I am looking at huntsman!
Uh huh, uh huh!
who the fuck cares how she votes? Methinks she thinks too highly of herself. I’d value a mole rat’s opinion over hers. My message to Count Dracula: Fuck off.
Aren’t you completely done with these fairweather frauds? Who the hell cares? Their complete frauds masquerading as feet-to-the-fire moralists.
When you vacation with Newt Gingrich and have drinks with Darrell Issa and don’t pay your writers then sell their work for $315 million to AOL, nothing you have to say about wealth inequality and fighting for the middle class matters Arrianna. You’re a fraud. Please stop pretending you’re a defender of the downtrodden.
This. There is no way that woman is a progressive. Considering Huntsman when the man has said he supports Ryan’s budget??
Give me a friggin’ break.
You know when I began to have serious doubts about her? When she began her campaign against Tim Geitner, who was working on financial reform, who was forcing banks to be more transparent ( the stress tests…), who was SUPPORTING the idea of a consumer protection agency . For the record, I think that Tim Geitner is a good public servant who tries his best.
I wonder if Arianna is friends with Lady de Rothshield (the one who supported Hillary) . It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
She is only one vote…she is one grain of sand in the whole beach…she ain’t important.
And when folks on Twitter call her out, like the coward she is, she backpedals: Here we go!
Oh, please.
My question to HuffPuff is who gives a **it? She is irrelevant!
I see she left vacation buddy Newt and fantasy date Huntsman off that list.
Hmmm…..
She’s hoping that Huntsman joins that “no labels” third party nonsense so that she can safely vote for him without having to claim she voted for an R.
That is because she likes huntsman!
GAH, somebody hand her a shovel.
I found that tweet and replied to her that she’s not talking to a cable news anchor and she can’t pull that BS with us. Theoretical isn’t running in 2012 and that we read her quote.
WELL fuck you Ariana all the way who cares you are loughing all the way to the bank with your
garbage and your garbage realy STINKS LIKE HELL.
You said it, Mel.
BWD, Can I just congratulate you on your tough and terse abilities as a tweeter. If you never restart TOAITR, please don’t stop tweeting. Your tweets always hit the hammer on the head.
This is the rantings of an attentionwhore..she’s desperately seeking relevancy.
Yeah, well, Huffington is the same one who didn’t have the time or the courtesy to meet with the president when he extended an invitation to Maddow, Eugene Robinson and her for a luncheon meeting.
She’s been poison for a long time, so I am not surprised or alarmed. Ugly has a tendency to come back and bite you in the butt- just ask that belly-up mortgage company. What goes around comes around,
I sent the witch a nasty tweet and she had the nerve to send me a direct message. It was the same “clarification” posted here. Does she really think I care? The witch was definitely feeling the twitter heat.
She is a Republican, always has been, always will be. She understands how some on the left are easily fooled, and so she took them for a ride and continues to.
Go figure.
Is anybody really still listening to this horrible woman? She inflicted Schwarzenegger on California after leading a very ugly battle to oust Governor Davis, and then she hoodwinked a bunch of people into working for her for free and making her millions of dollars through her Obama-bashing machine, Huffington Post. And now she wants to really try and sell herself as a disappointed Democrat? She must think everyone is stupid.
Thank you ChristiMtl, I couldn’t have said it better.
Ariana is a Republican so of course she’ll vote R. She always was a Republican and always will be. Any “acting” to the contrary has been to make a buck. She comes up with some stupid nonsense to “explain” her so-called switch to voting R when she was always going to do so anyway. If any of her “Huff” readers ever thought anything else about her, they are either naive or delusional. She’s a grifter just like Palin, Perry, Newt, Cain and the rest of that breed.
So she expects people to be as stupid as she and buy that radio active toxic garbage when she says she’s voting for a republicon over Obama ’cause she worried about the middle class which she has given her middle finger to?!
Dawg, she’s an idiot.
OMG!!! I just saw Reggie! Miche looks spectacular!!! :D :D
Politico 44 dud the same thing to rev al that they do to the President- worst and scariest picture they could find!
Hmmmm!
Is that Reggie?
OMG! I hafta to have a tee shirt like this!!! Who has the memorabilia for sale? Is it Tally? Can you do this without the writing? Chips, thank you sooo much for the beautiful pictures you posted of our fabulous first lady and her husband. They are the BEST! Saw this on politicalwire. Even they know their party is a stinking sinking mess.
How Did the GOP Lose its Way?
David Frum: “When I entered Republican politics during an earlier period of malaise, in the late seventies and early eighties, the movement got most of the big questions — crime, inflation, the Cold War — right. This time, the party is getting the big questions disastrously wrong.”
“In the aftershock of 2008, large numbers of Americans feel exploited and abused. Rather than workable solutions, my party is offering low taxes for the currently rich and high spending for the currently old, to be followed by who-knows-what and who-the-hell-cares. This isn’t conservatism; it’s a going-out-of-business sale for the baby-boom generation.”
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) could become the second governor to face a recall attempt in 2012.
Citizens for a Better Arizona, the group that led the successful recall of former state Senate President Russell Pearce (R) this month, said Monday that they are seeking citizen input on whether they should attempt to recall Brewer in the 2012 election, the Arizona Republic reported.
Woot !
GO FOR IT ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!!! And vote Barack Obama for President as well this time.
Oh, please, please, please, let it be so. I would love to see this vile woman recalled and sent back to her cave, wherever that is.
Well deserved. Kick them all out!!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO all over this! That woman is a vile, hateful, ignorant mistake. I’ll check my favorite local blog and get the info….she has GOT to go!
GOOD THEY HAVE RECALL IN ARIZONA!
Arianna is as vile as they come. Haven’t been to HP since before she sold out.
I haven’t been there at all for a long, long, time, unless there’s a really good link recommended here. Guess she’s not missing me, but - then again - the feeling is sure mutual.
There are no words.
Can you believe this guy used to be married to Julia Roberts :)
I was just thinking the same thing!
This is when I started liking Julia Roberts - because she saw the sweet man inside, and didn’t get distracted by the outside. From what I understand, they managed to remain friends after they split up. He just seems like a really nice person.
I can believe he was married to Julie Roberts, because sometimes it’s not always about the looks. It’s about what your heart is like, how you treat people.
President Obama granted five pardons and commuted one individual’s sentence for distribution of cocaine, according to a White House press release. Those pardoned were incarcerated for charges ranging from distribution of illegal drugs to running an illegal gambling business.

Will my President pardon us TODers for having some not-so-pure thoughts?
I think we are going to need that pardon from FLOTUS just to be clear. :)
:) :) :) My First Lady is kind - I’m counting on that quality.
Hopefruit2, I am not sure when it comes to her fine hubby. No way, if she were POTUS. Me thinks we better behave ourselves. HZ
PEPPER SPRAYING COP
http://peppersprayingcop.tumblr.com/
Don’t we just love the internet ?
So casual like he was spraying the grass.
This has been going on all day. Pretty ingenious way to highlight his sickness.
YES!!!!! THE BAND PERRY SINGING MY FAVORITE SONG!!!!!
YOUCH!~ GOP candidates b$tch slapped so hard by prominent ex-military figures-in defense of the POTUS- that the change fell out of their pockets!
Three of the leading military minds in the party, former NATO Commander General Wesley Clark, former Navy Secretary Richard Danzig, and retired Major General Paul Eaton, lit into the Republican field for their shifting positions and made clear that Obama’s military achievements — including the Al Qaeda leader’s death — will be fair political game in 2012.
“I think he is remarkably strong,” Danzig said of Obama’s national security record. “The more this election is about security issues the more advantageous that is to this president.”
The trio accused top Republicans of waffling on the major national security issues of the day, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the conflict in Libya, and efforts to prevent Iran from going nuclear. “While President Obama has kept his promises across the globe, the leading Republicans have been all over the map, offering sound-bite critiques and shifting positions with every change in the headlines as they seek partisan advantage,” Clark said. Much of his fire was focused on Romney, who authored a book, No Apology, that fiercely criticized the president’s foreign policy as weak and ineffective. He cited a 2007 quote from Romney downplaying Bin Laden’s capture in which the governor said “it’s not worth moving heaven and earth [and] spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”
“But like all of us, [Romney] cheered his demise,” Clark added.

Booyah. Just wait til the campaign gets into full effect. The rethugs are gonna get it from all directions.
Love General Clark!! Would love to see him working more closely with Obama.
If McCain had any integrity, he would have been standing next to these other military men, supporting the President’s awesome foreign policy record.
If McCain had any integrity he would be another person, not the one who brought us Palin and denied every decent thing he once supported.
This is true!
He has none. McCain and I were in the South China Sea at about the same time. Though on different ships, his antics were will know in the fleet. He was a hotdog then that turned his POW status into political cash. Truth be told, his ass wouldn’t have landed in the Hanoi Hilton if he’d payed more attention to his training instead of chasing skirts.
i’m still trying to figure out how he got into flight training having graduated near the bottom of his class. Sheesh! Talk about being born on third base. He should have been a used car salesman in the Arctic. :-(
Weren’t his father and grandfather bigwigs in the military? Might explain a lot. Anyway, I don’t want to disrespect his service, but his conduct first with the Palin selection and now with the Obama presidency has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth, regarding John McCain.
Yup. He comes from a long line of Admirals and was born in the Panama Zone. I wonder if he has a birth certificate?
That’s what I always heard about him. My husband an ex soldier said the only thing heroic about him is survival. He isn’t a war hero. Wesley Clarke said that and got trashed by everyone during the 2008 campaign
I’m happy some military people are speaking out. But they are democrats so it won’t make waves. But what a relly cool thing it would be if some republicans in the military or in the defense establishment gave a strong endorsement to POTUS in some media with large viewersip. People like General McMullen and Bob Gates, who have worked closely with POTUS, have a great deal of respect for him and sung his praises publicly on a few occasions. I have a fantasy that they will be invited on FOX on a live show some day and use this opportunity to tell O’Reilly and Co. that Barack Obama is a strong and brilliant leader and Commander- in-Chief. Oh… Just to imagine the face of the guys at Fox… I know… I know… Just a fantasy. One can dream…
It would be edited out. Gen Colin Powell has gone on cable an said some good things about PBO.
Edited out ? of course, except if it was “live”.
Colin Powell’s approval is great , certainly.
This is so terrific!! Way to stand up for what is just and right, General Clark, Secretary Danzig and Major General Eaton. You are of great caliber in my book. Love it.
While he’s taking in the soothing sounds of the country music instruments, our President is imaging himself playing the GOP like a fiddle or banjo.
 You are too funny
He even mentioned the dulcimer, so maybe he’s thinking about that, too.
Ayaya!! Good one!
Now the dulcimer has to be played with expertise for sure. POTUS stretched those GOPers strings today. He played his class act position in the best band in the world today when he walked out there with that ,” I told you all NOT to play me for a fool before you went into that damn Super-Committee.”
Go on Mr. President with you bad fine self. I love my President!!!!HZ
That is one sweet picture of PBO. No wonder Michelle thinks he’s cute!!
I love James Taylor…..
My oldest son looks like him…his name is also James.
This is what my son looks like…
Yes, I thought you meant the young James Taylor! :)
Your son is handome, must take after his folks.
I have a daughter if he is not married….no, he looks really nice.
Hope you don’t mind me saying Linda, but……….SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!! ;)
Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Sorry Linda. You must be a knockout ;) !?! :D
Wow! What a cutie.
Yowser :) :) :) Nice looking young man.
Linda, I was very close to saying: “Wow!!! He looks just like a young James Taylor!!”
If your son looks like that …. give him our love!
Yes, be sure to give him our precious love. Do not worry Linda, I will keep all of them on the naughty mats tonight! But he is fine, Linda. Be proud as you must be.. He has a gentle and kind look to his spirit that shows on his face.HZ
Very handsome!
VERY handsome. looks like JT but better looking.
That reminds me of his pic on the album I got in the ’70s when we lived in Asheville, NC. Sweet Baby James..never goes out of style.
Lind, how’d you post the picture? What’s the code?
I’m looking at that YUMMY pic of POTUS and listening to the lovely music of James Taylor!
THANKS CHIPSTICKS :D
I’m enjoying this show … have my DVR set for the PBS version on Wednesday, but forgot we could see the whole event livestreamed. Even better since you know who are in the house tonight!
Another cowboy hat-wearing Obamabot performed at the White House last time they had a country night:
Very impressive guy, that Brad Paisley.
Yes. He was one of those questioned by Piers Morgan about whether or not they supported PBO. Of course, good old Brad said yes.
What’s not to like?
You mean Brad Praisley is a democrat and voted for PBO? That’s nice to know.
And he’s married to that adorable actress who had a delightful role in a movie with Steve Martin — something about a bride getting married and the father being rather overwhelmed. I have always thought she was so cute.
I was just thinking of her..Kimberly Williams~
All my favorites - Kris Kristofferson, Brad Paisley and Darius (formerly hootie and blowfish).
I especially liked the part where Brad Paisley said to the POTUS that he will the first president that his children will remember. Nice!~
Awww to sweet!
I love it when he juts his chin out like that.
I don’t know why I didn’t see this when it aired, but what a remarkable performance. And so touching. Everyone looked touched by the sentiment.
Who’s this beautiful young African American country singer?
That’s Darius Rucker.
Thanks. Don’t know about her. Will look up her music.
Mickey is the girl—-she’s beautiful—-and talented!
Here’s bio of all performers: http://www.pbs.org/inperformanceatthewhitehouse/performers.php
PBO is looking super handsome tonight. particularly when he holds his head so regally high. Shhhh Don’t tell Hubby I’m fawning over here
I GUESS HOWARD FINEMAN AND CHRIS MATTHEWS’ SOURCES WERE WRONG…AGAIN
Indeed. For t’was Fineman himself who smugly proclaimed in the summer that “The Republicans have won this debt ceiling debate and Obama has negotiated himself into oblivion.”
Oh Goody more James Taylor. I just love him. His voice is so beautiful and comforting.
Watching the concert online. It’s so cute to see men in suits being Roadies hehehe
And they are doing a good and swift job too :-)
Now we are talkin’!
This is my personal opinion….I don’t like that pink dress - yuck. I think it’s too short and tight for the occasion.
Who is the pretty young girl in the red (inch too short)dress who is singing the Loretta Lynn song?
You ladies would not have liked what I wore back when then. Or what they are wearing now for dresses. LOL
I loved when Janis Joplin sang that song. It was my favorite version
LOL I loved short and still do. But this was too short for her body structure and she kept trying to pull it down. Good singer but never saw/heard her before.
Mom should have told her bring the length down alittle bit more. She is a good singer, but dress was too short. I agree with you all.
looked fine to me. :-p

What a putz.
It all goes back to “WTFC’s” what David Gergen thinks and why are you on teevee anyway?
A five year-old child could have told Gergen the committee would fail as soon as they announced what R’s would be on it. These people live in some fantasy land where Republicans on committees actually act as statesmen. I would love to see that fantasy land, but I’d have to leave our galaxy to do so.
Brwawawawawawaaa!
Excuse me, “Sources”
Mrs. Robinson just yawned. So cute.
James Taylor for Obama
That young lady was killing that ‘little red dress’ for real. Love to see young women with curves looking good in their skin. Used to always worry bout mine with all the really skinny models et al but they embraced it. I think that generation really moved away from eating disorders for the most part. Young ladies of my generation were rife with eating disorders.
Okay, that went a little off topic. LOL
Let your mind go wherever it wants!
:)
Really as a female growing up in 60s & 70s twiggy had a huge impact on us young women. I had so many friends that were having eating disorders. We used to have interventions for them! So I really worried about my own girls and made sure to never compare them to ultra skinny models or equate their beauty to the size of their jeans.
Sounds trite now but that was the reality of many a young lady back then. Now their friends are all shapes and sizes & I just love how comfortable they all are in their skins. And so I notice these things FWIW LOL
Back in the ’60s, I *was* Twiggy. But mine was natural - I just couldn’t gain weight - and I really wanted to put on a few pounds! I wasn’t influenced by anybody; I just was tired of “the look.”
Apparently, all I needed to do was wait a few decades!
“Apparently, all I needed to do was wait a few decades!” I hear that…
LOL! Me too!
Boy does all this sound familiar. Graduated in 1960, and I couldn’t put weight on either until I had my first child and lost it right away. Now that I am older, I need to take it off for health reasons, just not fair. But I hear you all.
Have a good night, need to hit the rack and early appointment tomorrow
Amen! I wasn’t gonna say this, but I think she was smiling at PBO while singing quite a bit. I thought it was cute. especially when she said it was an honor for her to sing for them. She’s so cute and bubbly. What a flirt. Good for her. :)
Wow these performers are doing a great job with all my favorite songs. Takes guts to do Whitney and do it well. Go Girl!
Awwwwwww, they sang my song — “Funny how time slips away” Loved the original by Joe Hinton. My house burned down in 1964 and we lived over my Aunt and Uncle’s bar while it was being rebuilt; I was steady throwing quarters in the juke — my songs we “Funny;” Lloyd Price’s “Pride and Joy;” and Sam Cooke’s “Woman, A Lover, A Friend” I had a rather sophisticated taste for a 9 year old…
sweet memories
Oh man, Miche looks like she was there to party. She was dancing and rocking on the stage. She is so cute!!!
Then PBO took her hand and headed down the stage…..I was like NO :(. Still waiting to see them rock out like on inauguration night at one of these concerts :)
She claims he can’t dance, so maybe he wanted to save himself the embarrassment! :)
Awww…something inside me tells me he can dance….he’s just shy ;)
I thought he danced rather well at the Inauguration Ball! All of ‘em!
Me too :)
Oh he did dance real good when he was holding Michelle in his arms, as Beyonce sang “At Last”
Come on POTUS could have done the dance he did on Ellen Show.
You rang?
WoooOOOOOoooooOOOOOooooot! Thanks Bonkers!
Obama’s got rhythm! I think they’re kidding around when he’s goes on about how Miche says he can’t dance. :D
I think they are kidding around too when he say Miche says he can’t dance. I can tell he had rhythm when he was slow dancing with Miche as Beyonce sung “At Last”.
I really enjoyed the in Performance at the White House. And I think the first couple did too.
Hope Michelle has he cowboy boots. ;)
That was a nice concert. Michelle was dressed to party
I really enjoy the Country Music Show. I really did. And looks like FLOTUS did too when she was dancing on the stage. By the way, FLOTUS look wonderful.
Didn’t POTUS get a hat when Down Under. Too bad he didn’t sport it for the occassion. Maybe Sheep hats don’t mix with Cow hats
That was entertaining. Enjoyed it. Country is not my first choice, but I thought they put on a great show tonight. I used to really be in love with Kris Kristofferson and always loved his politics. He’s old now—-and so am I. Sigh. I even loved watching those old guys in the band, having the best time. There’s something about musicians. They LOVE what they do, and it’s thrilling to see people who LOVE what they do. Thought it was a lot of fun.
Gosh, I miss it. Anybody know if this will be reaired?
On PBS, Wednesday, Nov 23rd, 8:00 EST

Romney’s Trial Balloon For Privatized Veterans Care Explodes
Benjy Sarlin November 21, 2011, 5:09 PM 5457 72
So much for that idea. Mitt Romney is rapidly walking back a proposal to partially privatize VA care after a wave of criticism from Democrats and veterans groups.
“I have no proposal of that nature,” Romney told the Nashua Telegraph on Monday. “We had a group of veterans and said, ‘tell me about the quality of your care.’ Some were concerned about the quality of their health care. I said, ‘what kind of options do you have, what do you think about a system that let you go to private as well as VA hospitals?’ The response was mixed, but I don’t have any proposal of that nature. We have a VA system that needs to be improved and I’ve got no plans to change that other than to make it better and to invest more money in providing for our veterans.”
Earlier this month in South Carolina, Romney floated the idea of a voucher system, telling a crowd at a BBQ restaurant: “Sometimes you wonder, would there be someway to introduce some private sector competition, somebody else that could come in and say, you know, each soldier gets X thousand dollars attributed to them and then they can choose whether they want to go on the government system or the private system and then it follows them, like what happens with schools in Florida where they have a voucher that follows them. Who knows.”
Democrats pounced with a web video highlighting the remarks. And Retired General Wesley Clark threw a parting shot at Romney as he retreated on the issue at a press conference on Monday.
“I’m not sure exactly what Governor Romney was proposing — what I’ve seen, he throws out an idea, he takes back the idea,” Clark said in response to a question from TPM. “But I wouldn’t want our veterans to depend on vouchers for their care. When men and women join the United States Armed Forces we have an obligation as a nation to support them…I don’t believe it’s appropriate to trust that to a private voucher system. The VA hospitals are set up to focus on the kind of care our veterans need and we should emphasize that as this president has done.

One of the best things about going into the military - or being a veteran or a dependent - is their medical coverage. They deserve the best - not the worst.
Go away, Romney. YOU ARE USELESS. Wesley Clark did a bang-up job speaking out today. Good for him.
Indeed he did Jaacquelineoboomer. We need more of it. Wesley Clark is very brilliant. I hope they were listening. I like him. HZ
Good Zinging cut down from Gen Clark! THanks rikyrah~ One of these days ol mittmop is going to have too many lies swirling around in his Robothead and he’s not going to remember which went where.
Wow, listening to Paisley in that clip was very timely after yesterdays NASCAR ‘incident’ !
It’s why I try to never paint a whole segment of our population with a broad brush. Between the warmth from these performers and the images of the other parts to yesterday’s events it’s plain to see that many people from all walks appreciate and admire the folks in the whitehouse.
There will always be those seeking to divide and conquer us. It’s better to refer to the ‘idiots that boo’d’ than to denigrate everyone in attendance.
Hopefully this post will be taken in the spirit in which it was intended and not as an attack or admonishment.
Rev. Al said on his show that the Scott Walker Recall volunteers have already gotten one-fifth the # of signatures they need - in four days - and still have a couple of months to finish.
Yee-haw!
On to Arizona next, hopefully!
Altogether now:
“I’m just a coal miners daaaaaauuuuughteeeeeeerrrrrr! La da Di, la da da, la da diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!” ——- that’s the best I can sing, Chips. No stunningly successful sing career for me. :(
But I can’t be as bad as this though:
Is that you in the video Lisa?
Hahaha! No ma’am. I don’t think I sound half as good. ;)

What a touching video. Thank you! Veteran McCarry for your service to this country and your support for the AJA.
Wow, thanks Chips, that’s the Vets day parade in my county seat; Vice President Biden was our speaker this year!
Awwww geez Chips, you turned on the water works again. ;-)
Thanks again Chipsticks. You always know when and how to bring us back to a point where we can make each other laugh and cry with love and respect. Thanks for all that you do for us and for our President and his team. You make me happy each day to be here. Get some rest because we surely need you. Nite to you and all of my TOD Family.HZ
MSNBC has a poll on who is to blame for the super committee failure. So far 66% agree GOP. Only 7% President Obama. Please vote.
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/11/21/8933628-poll-who-is-to-blame-for-deficit-panel-failure?ocid=twitter
Done! Thanks Proud. Everyone? Vote!!
Done. Wow 66% blame repugs.
;-)
I just want to say PBO is amazing. He just returned from a 9 day trip, interviewed with Rev. Al, signed the veteran’s bill, made a statement to the press, relaxed with Michelle and listened to nice country music. Thank God that we have such a wonderful couple in the WH. I just wanted to make this statement before I say good night.
I share in your appreciation of these incredible people, especially President Obama. I kept expecting his eyes to be drooping during the performance, because jet lag is usually worse on Day Two, but he kept alert the whole time. I know I couldn’t do it.
Thanks COS and theo67. I also believe that he feels the goodness in our hearts and our actions. And most of all, he feels the sincere love of our faith in him and the positive and good energy coming into his space when he need to grab onto good energy to keep him going.
He is the hardest working President that I have ever seen in the Oval Office in my lifetime. Let us keep him there. We need his leadership. Goodnight to our POTUS and FLOTUS and family.HZ
Nobody is buying the soap the GOP is selling. You blame all your faults on somebody else and people sense the phony.
I voted, but seriously - who are these 34% who don’t realize the only roadblock to a deal was the GOP! And who are these 7% that think the President is responsible, when the President offered a grand bargain back in August? Crazy.
Done!
Done here too.
Done!
Done!!HZ
Hi Africa. I was just thinking about you, Tally, Sue, Joan, Sam, CollegeKay. Hope all is well with all of you. Love you all.HZ
That was Precious, Chips, thank you! Wonder which members of Congress made it? :)
He mentioned Charlie Pride was there a couple of years ago..I think Pride is a republican but that wouldn’t stop the Obamas from inviting him. Bless their reaching out HEARTS.

Scroll down, Lala.
Lawrence O’D is on fire!
What is Lawrence saying! I don’t have a TV!!!
He’s smugly announcing that PBO is a brilliant strategist and that he played Repugs like the asses they are. Said PBO is the best strategist prez ever.
Did he admit that he’s an utter buffoon? After he was so pompous about how he knew Pres. Obama was going to get a clean raise out of it - when that didn’t happen he tore into the President.
Thanks St. Roscoe - I swore off Lawrence O’Donnell after that display.
lol what does the little things like facts have to do with it?
yes, he is…he’s HILARIOUS!!
He’s excellent tonight CTGirl!
Robert Reich needs to STFU.
+1,00000000 times — Ughhhhhhh
I guess the corporatemedia has him on because people like us in the reality realm just wonder if he’ll ever f*** off.
Tomorrow:
9:35 AM The President departs the White House en route to Joint Base Andrews
9:50 Departs Joint Base Andrews en route to Manchester, N.H.
11:0 Arrives in Manchester, N.H.
1:20 Departs Manchester, N.H.
2:55 Arrives at the White House
As much as I love PBO’s foreign visits, it’s nice to be following the President on his travels in the good ol’ USA again.
Amen.
I like he’s getting back on the AJA push, not letting the super committee failure put the message back on debt/deficit. I’d like to see the President tie the jobs push into the debt/deficit discussion (or the vice versa) in that the more jobs created increases the tax base so more revenues and less folks claiming UEI - more folks with money to spend means more jobs created etc.
Best deficit reducer is more jobs created.
Oops. didn’t know I wasn’t signed in. Hubby and I sharing computer while in VA and he must have shut down, then re-booted.
No worries tnmtngirl, I freed ya from pending!
THANKS!
Lawrence O. . . is awesome tonight!
Love when he speaks like that about this President. The best President there is!
Thank you Lawrence. . . great insight! BRILLIANT!
until tommorrow when he says the complete opposite
ain’t that the truth
Rob Reich aka Debbie Downer.
Agreed. He needs to go to straight to Friendlys and order a king-size STFU milkshake.
I muted him!
This may have been reported here and I missed it, but just thought this was hilarious and confirms what we all have suspected: poll shows Fox viewers are less informed than those who watch no news at all! LOL!

Oh dear Michael Moore is going to be on…I’m switching the channel right away!
i’m gonna hang in. i want to see what whale cheeks has to say. G’night all.
lol. Glad to see you have the fortitude to do what most of us with sensitive stomachs cannot.
Lawry just fucking lost me. He’s gonna have Fat Fuck Michael Moore on to talk about UC Davis. Lawry always finds a way to mess with my good news buzz. Asshat
Rush Limbaugh Claims NASCAR Fans Booed Michelle Obama Because She’s Uppity
November 21, 2025
By Jason Easley
On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh justified the booing of First Lady Michelle Obama at a NASCAR race as the crowd reacting to her uppityism.
Here is the audio from Media Matters:
Bottom line, we don’t like being told what to eat; we don’t like being told how much to exercise; we don’t like being told what we’ve got to drive; we don’t like wasting money; we don’t like our economy being bankrupted. We don’t like 14% unemployment. The question is, what the hell is there to cheer for when Miss Obama and Ms. Biden show up? NASCAR people, as are most people in this country, are mature, tolerant people, who fully understand when they’re being insulted and condescended to. And they remember being called bitter clingers. They know that in their hearts the Obamas don’t like them. We’ve taken notice of this, as has, by the way, Chris Matthews. And a lot of congressional Democrats are also fully aware that the Obamas just don’t like a lot of people, and they don’t like hanging around a lot of people.
I’ll tell you something else. We don’t like paying millions of dollars for Mrs. Obama’s vacations. The NASCAR crowd doesn’t quite understand why when the husband and the wife are going to the same place, the first lady has to take her own Boeing 757 with family and kids and hangers-on four hours earlier than her husband, who will be on his 747. NASCAR people understand that’s a little bit of a waste. They understand it’s a little bit of uppity-ism. First ladies have not been known to hop their own 757s four hours ahead of their husband when they’re both going to the same place.
Rush Limbaugh might have a set new record for the number of lies told about Michelle Obama in less than two minutes. I could go through them all, but anyone with a brain knows that unemployment is not 14%, the taxpayers aren’t paying millions of dollars for vacations, and Obama’s base is still as supportive as ever.
http://www.politicususa.com/en/nascar-boo-michelle-obama
Notice that he didn’t hesitate to use Tweety’s dog whistle language to attack the First Lady?
Exactly. Matthews says Pres and Michelle don’t show enough gratitude - the dog whistle was there for the amplifying.
Honestly I don” t give a dam why Rush Limbaugh thinks the idiots at NASCAR booed our wonderful First Lady.
I don’t listen to Limbaugh, never ever have, and never ever will.
If I had children, I wouldn’t even want them to know about the existence of Rush Limbaugh. He is pure evil and offers nothing good to this world.
Just plain nasty.
Rush is the most disgusting, vile, ugly, miserable(don’t care how much money he has) he is still unhappy, evil ,and gives out nothing good in the space he takes up on this earth. He is plain and simple: A very hateful and mean spirited ugly person.HZ
who cares what limpballs has to say?
Not I said the cat.
I notice that Jake Tapper and Chuckie Todd were pretty much MIA today…the trip completely did them in. They ought to have a new appreciation for our President’s remarkable stamina.
Evening chuckle….

Okay this tweet has me rolling on the floor with laughter!
roflmao! mitt is waxy and always looks like he needs to get back to the museum.
Aah……I’m not the only one who thinks Mittens is a Ken doll….all plastic, no reality…….
Exactly.
First Romney TV Ad Falsely Presents McCain Campaign Quote As Obama’s
The ad features a voice-over of Obama saying “if we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.” Then-candidate Obama indeed said those words, perhaps dozens of times during the closing month of the 2008 campaign. The only problem? Obama was actually quoting the words of a strategist from Sen. John McCain’s campaign. Watch the Romney campaign’s blatantly dishonest ad:
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/11/21/374147/breaking-first-romney-tv-ad-falsely-presents-mccain-campaign-quote-as-obamas/
Why do they need to cheat and lie if they’re right? They betray themselves.
SLEAZY.
Is that O’Keefe kid doing the campaign vids for Romney or maybe the Breitbart people? Taking something out of complete context to completely create a false narrative you’re trying to push - how utterly Republican of him.
Mittless needs major pushback on this breitbart shite! He wants this so bad he’ll do and say anything..no lie is too big or too small and he needs EPIC BLOWBACK!
COOL! A preview of some behind-the-scenes video at DinnerWithBarack:
The complete video is amazing…PBO is just a genuine down to earth person…
Fake Democratic pollsters have stupid idea
The Wall Street Journal publishes nonsense from Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell, because they think you’re an idiot
==================================
I think it’s best to understand the Wall Street Journal editorial board’s decision to publish any given column by con artist pollsters Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell as basically an expression of contempt for people who read the Wall Street Journal editorial page.
Caddell and Schoen, two loser “Democratic” “pollsters,” regularly publish very lame link-bait columns about how if Democrats want to succeed electorally, they must immediately cease being Democrats, and become, instead, Republicans. This week’s variation on that theme: Barack Obama should step aside (already heard that one last year around this time) and allow himself to be replaced by Hillary Clinton, for the good of the party and the nation.
.
.
As I said, printing their editorials is an implicit admission that you think your audience is credulous and moronic. The people in charge of the Wall Street Journal are savvy enough about politics to know that all of this is bilge and bullshit. They know both that this will never happen and that it’d be a stupid suggestion even if it were within the realm of possibility. They just don’t care. They don’t care that they’re printing garbage, because they figure garbage will get some traffic from those engaged in the same game.
If I were a conservative American I’d be less outraged at the specter of liberal elites hypothetically disrespecting me from their coastal enclaves and much more pissed off that the people on my side are constantly peddling this bullshit.

Apparently there is a National Voter Registration Form that can be used by most anyone in the US. This website helps you access it and provide what is required. Please consider letting everyone know about it. After witnessing the news tonight I became more convinced than ever that we have got to get every concerned citizen mobilized.

This is a terrific brief summary of what happened with all of President Obama’s Asia-Pacific meetings.
Obama’s Overseas Triumph
http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2011/11/obamas-overseas-triumph
It certainly is! And yet I still don’t think Drum “got it!” It still seems peripheral to his consciousness. Or he would have taken the ball and run with it—at least as far as the economic, job-creating ramifications of these agreements went.
