TOD family I need to find out about SCHIP. I have a friend who does not make a lot of money and is under insured at her job. She is a single mom, pregnant and her baby will need to be in ICU. Can she get medical help from the government just for the baby? Should she search her state family services for help?

Yes, JoJo- she should go to her local Social Services dept and apply for Medicaid- if her income is under their guidelines then she should be able to get assistance.. and if they can’t help her, they will have (should have) other resources for her.
She should both discuss this with her Docs and with her local health and human services where she lives as soon as possible. Depending on the baby’s needs there may be funds or resources that would pay the bills.
Jojo. The mom should check to see if there is a medical social worker at the hospital where she plans to deliver the baby or the NICU, if it’s at a different hospital. The social work department should be able to help her sort out her options.
WOW, what beautiful girls. Malia is just so stunning and little Sasha isn’t so little anymore. They both seemed uncomfortable to be in the limelight and looked like such normal kids!!

I can’t help it. Oh to be a fly on the wall when that time comes! Miche is gonna have to run interference.
She’s FAR too young to even mention dating!!! Maaaaaybe in 10 or 15 years when her father is out of office….unless we amend the constituion and he’s in his 4th term, which we probably should do, so…… Yep.
He probably wants to put them in a convent for the rest of their lives. I can just imagine him one night after putting the girls to bed, pulling out a satchel filled with brochures for “good” convents around the world and Miche shaking her head and saying: “No way buster. “The United States adopted a policy of disengagement with Somalia after its retreat following Black Hawk down. Today, an al Qaeda affiliate, Al Shabab, controls significant territory in that country.
“What can the United States do to prevent Al Shabab from posing the same threat that al Qaeda did from Afghanistan 10 years ago?”

On Monday, National Journal’s Ron Fournier had a piece blaming all of the relevant players — Democrats, Republicans, and President Obama — for the failure of super-committee process. Fournier’s article generated quite a bit of criticism from, among others, me.
The problem with his analysis is that Fournier drew false equivalencies, and brushed past key details, in order to push the same, tired line: “both sides” are always to blame for everything, even when the facts show otherwise.

I love Turkey pardon day because that’s when you know you’ll see Malia and Sasha! And even though Malia is so over it…she did look happy when she pet the bird…and Sasha always side-eyes the bird to see if they’ll do something outrageous, I love it. I hope they always show up for it as long as PBO is president. I also love how PBO always pardons the birds like how the Pope blesses people who comes to see him. It cracks me up every time!

Yes Meta, the kids are So down to earth. They are so polite & cute standing next to their daddy.
Sasha got huge. I love the girls metallic shoes. I think they are over the so Turkey pardon.
