And the “Got Your Back” image looks like an all-American silhouette. I won’t say “the woman behind the man,” as depicted, since they are equal partners!
Great idea - he’s really been a helping hand, in many important ways, for President Obama. I think his role as confidante helped the President retain his sanity. I think they’ll both miss each other. I would love to do an online card.
My hope it that POB will be sent another angel like Reggie who would also be a great confidante for our beloved President.. It will happen, we do believe.HZ
Yes, that’s a great Idea to get an online card to Reggie. I’m just going to miss him, seems like he just suppose to be there by PBO’s side. But, Reggie must move on, I will surely miss him :-)
He’s even more incredible than I thought. I just finished my MBA this year, and I was almost destroyed trying to balance a high pressure job with my classes in the evenings and on weekends. I can’t possibly imagine doing an MBA along with being with the President 24 hours a day, basically 7 days a week - including international travel. That’s tough - and he’s to be commended!
Hey, TOD family. Please take a moment to vote for our brilliant President to be Time’s person of the year and then post to Facebook, Twitter and send to family and friends.
This doesn’t make sense. The question was who would you want to be the person of the year. When the first candidate was the 1% i voted no, but then because I knew President Obama was on the list I kept going to the next candidate not bothering to vote no. Unfortunately, I was surprised that he wasn’t even shown until around 30th.
I meant to vote for just Barack but I ended up voting for the Arab Youth protestors, Warren Buffet, Gabby Giffords, and Seal Team 6 also. I’m alittle sad that Jobs is in the lead instead of Seal Team 6.
So glad the Republicans are all behind Casey Anthony in the voting tally right now. That’s where they belong. President Obama is in the top 10, but there are some contenders that are stiff competition - Steve Jobs, the 99%, Arab freedom fighters. I think President Obama is the person of the year every day, but these contenders are worthy of recognition.
I voted yes for the Arab Youth, Gabriel Giffords, Seal Team 6, Pres. Obama and the Fukushima 50. I don’t understand why certain people are on that list like Kim Kardashian, Mitt Romney, the 1%, Casey Anthony or Paul Ryan.
Casey Anthony got off of killing her daughter, I’d say she’s having a pretty good year. The top 1% has a good year every year, they keep getting richer while everyone else is suffering.
About 7,000 spectators, including President Obama, will watch Friday’s game between Michigan State University and North Carolina on the flight deck of the carrier Carl Vinson.
It appears that the media was right Newt Gingrich is on the verge of becoming the new GOP frontrunner. Whoever POTU goes against next year he will do well against them. Newt has an attitude problem, so calm POTUS versus angry Newt in a debate would be interetsing.
Linda, I agree Newt seems mean spirited (and nasty too), Mittens seems more like the rich guy that doesn’t like to be brooked. PBO will wipe the floor with either of them.
Newt just seems to have a permanent snarl. He is angry and cranky all the time. He talks down to people. He thinks who he is. He is downright radical. He is vehemently anti-government. I don’t know how a person can carry around that level of disdain for the American people and then ask for their vote. Why anyone would want him anywhere near the White House is a mystery to me.
Newt just seems to have a permanent snarl. He is angry and cranky all the time. He talks down to people. He thinks who he is. He is downright radical………. Listen not only that, but newt Is just a NASTY Individual. End of story
I never realized how nasty Mitt Romney can be. If he is the nominee, trust me, there will be numerous reports about him and his VP not getting along very well.
IMO Newt is not really trying to put himself in the position of having to go through a grueling and fruitless general elections campaign for the WH (and neither is Cain for that matter). Newt and his wife are fine selling their movies, taking their cruises, and remaining tethered to the public eye just long enough to ensure that the grift continues. The GOP’s weak bench is a major story.
I don’t think Newt and Cain are trying to be President. They both entered the race from my persepective to promote their brands. However, it’s Newt’s turn to be up in the polls. TPM, says he is tied with Cain in one poll.
better deal with an outright asshole in Gingrich than a sneaky lying asshole that is Romney. With Gingrich you know what to expect;it will be all about gay marriage (his 3 marriages) and a touch of open racism
Plus the fact that he had to take a restful INTERNATIONAL vacation a week after he started campaigning. Can you imagine Newt bounding up the stairs like President Obama, or handling the schedule that President Obama maintains every day, and especially over the next week? Can you imagine any of that motley crew managing that schedule and level of commitment? Delicate Huntsman, neurotic Bachman, flip-flopping Romney, Geezer Paul? Now way, no how.
I can’t imagine any of these persons being invited to Buckingham Place…sitting down to dinner with the Queen or having the ability to create the kind of love and admiration that will cause people to wait in line for hours (even in the cold/snow) to hear tem speak…Lord Have Mercy…none of these people deserve to be CIC. “No way, no how”.
a4alice, maybe we could suggest to Chipsticks to order in advance from Tiffany several colors so we would have choices for each day, if we must watch this clown. Just a suggestion. Lets get that pre-oder in now Chips, please.HZ
I’m not sure if I fully believe the new CBS News poll, but if it’s accurate, it looks like a new top tier is coming together in the race for the Republican nomination.
In the Republican race for the presidential nomination, Newt Gingrich’s support continues to slowly grow, and he is now tied with Mitt Romney for second place, while Herman Cain just edges both of them out for the top spot. Both Cain and Romney have lost support since late October. […]
The field of Republican candidates now has three candidates within striking distance of each other at the top of the list: with 18 percent, Herman Cain is in the top spot, followed by Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich with 15% each. Support for both Cain and Romney has declined since late last month, and Gingrich is the only one of the top three whose support is steadily — if slowly — on the upswing.
So, let me get this straight. Seven weeks before the Iowa caucuses, the presumptive Republican nominee’s national support has dwindled to 15%? He’s tied with a disgraced former House Speaker who barely campaigns and whose only joy in life is upbraiding debate moderators?
Mitt Romney here. I lurk here everyday. I need to know what President Obama is doing on a daily basis so I can follow suit. I have the GOP nomination wrapped up, so I’m on to bigger and better things like seeing what Obama is up to. I’m planning a trip to Hawaii, Indonesia and Australia soon. I’m super excited and I don’t want Obama to know anything just yet so please keep it a secret. By the way I couldn’t help but notice that certain folks were making fun of my campaign rally in Michigan. Well, you all can laugh all you want, don’t bother me - I’m Teflon Mitt. I’m not calling names but people like hopefruit2 in particular seem to have it in for me - why I don’t know. Instead of focusing on me and Herman Cain, I suggest that all of you here focus on Barack Obama who is rooting for this country to fail. Bye, and please remember that I would love love love love to be President some day.
Mitt, there you go again flip flopping on us . You just called our POB’s names so many times at the debate that we thought you had changed your name. Now, now, Mitt. No, Mitt, we leave those type of comments about” failing” to your loving Party Leader, You know Who. We do not smell up our space here by even naming names here.. You know who I’m speaking of. Oh, does he like you, Mitt? Sorry about that one, Mitt.
Have a nice day, Mitt. I hope you know the names of all of the world leaders who will be meeting with our wonderful, intelligent, beautiful personality, and very agile President, with that trillion dollar smile that lights up the heavens .Oh, it will probably be enough wattage to light up your mansion on the west coast as well. Oh, but that is too much” real energy ” to waste in such a stiff atmosphere.
Later, Mitt. Hope you are studying for the debate for Sat., that is on Foreign Affairs. Remember what you said about the Leader of the Free World POB, and his foreign affairs experience? We have terrific records of his Foreign Affairs ready for the history books now, Mitt. So stop the falsehoods about our President. HZ
Puddin, our First Couple is the best. !!! Oh, I love to see him place his hand on around her waist. Like, this is my LADY, and First Lady at that!! You go, Mr. President, with your bad self. We love both of you.! !! Have a beautiful and safe trip.HZ
Fred, for that we will need to not only pray but fast, and still I am not sure we can prevent the idiots from finding a reason to lie and bash our POTUS.
But I am with you Fred, and CTGirl. We will lift them up as they take care of the peoples’ business. They are in very good hands, and we have their backs. We have such dedicated sweet, gentle, and firm spirits around this beautiful site, yes, they are in very good hands.HZ
If you’re a veteran looking for new ways to serve, check out Serve.gov. If you’re a civilian looking for new ways to support our veterans and our troops, join Michelle and Jill Biden at JoiningForces.gov. Find out what you can do. There is no such thing as too small a difference. That effort you make may have the biggest impact.
I say this because recently, I received a letter from a Vietnam veteran. She wasn’t writing to tell me about her own experience. She just wanted to tell me about her son, Jeremy. Now, Jeremy isn’t deployed, Jeremy’s not a veteran, or even in the military at all, as badly as he wants to follow in the footsteps of his family and enlist. You see, Jeremy has Down Syndrome.
So Jeremy chooses to serve where he can best -– with his local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter in Beaver, Pennsylvania. He calls them “the soldiers”. And one day last spring, Jeremy spent the day with several of these veterans cleaning up a local highway.
“He worked tirelessly,” wrote his mother. “He never asked to take a break. He didn’t stop to talk about his beloved Steelers. He didn’t even ask for anything to eat or drink. He only asked for one thing, several times –- ‘Mom, will President Obama be proud of me for helping the soldiers?’”
Well, Jeremy, I want you to know, yes, I am proud of you. I could not be prouder of you, and your country is proud of you. Thank you for serving our veterans by helping them to continue their service to America.
And Jeremy’s example — one young man’s example — is one that we must all now follow. Because after a decade of war, the nation we now need to build is our own. And just as our Greatest Generation left a country recovering from Depression and returned home to build the largest middle class in history, so now will the 9/11 Generation play a pivotal role in rebuilding America’s opportunity and prosperity in the 21st century.
My feed kept cutting out during this segment, but I could tell the story was profound. Thanks for the transcript - how special this must have made the President feel when he read this letter and decided to send a message to Jeremy that the whole nation would hear. Touching.
I hope so also, hopefruit2. That would be so great for Jeremy and POTUS. Let say our prayers and focus within our meditation times for it to happen , and see.HZ
I remember reading long time ago that she had those ordered from Italy. She has a tan pair just like those. I have only seen her wear the tan pair once. If I go look in my scrapbook I can tell you exactly what day she wore them :)
Did she wear the tan pair with that grey sweater-type dress, when she thanked the President for pushing through the nutrition program? (It’s scary how much I remember/know about this family and their doings).
Remember COS and theo67, she stated that she loves clothes and especially shoes. And remember she said that POB knew that before he married her. I love them sharing those lovely gems with us.HZ
Romney Retakes Lead, Gingrich Surges Past Cain
A new McClatchy-Marist poll finds the Republican presidential race is being shaken up again, with Mitt Romney retaking the lead, Newt Gingrich surging into second place, and Herman Cain dropping to third place.
Romney leads with 23%, followed by Gingrich at 19% and Cain at 17%. They are followed by Ron Paul at 10%, Rick Perry at 8% and Michele Bachmann at 5%.
Said pollster Lee Miringoff: “Clearly this race has taken yet another dramatic turn. The top tier has gotten more crowded.”
A new Poll Position survey shows the same top tier, but in a different order: Herman Cain at 24%, Mitt Romney at 20% and Newt Gingrich at 19%.
Is God Really Telling Rick Perry to Run for President?
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/11/is-god-really-telling-rick-perry-to-run-for-president/248285/#.Tr10nQEheGY.twitter
The Today Show Matt Lauer interviewed Rick Perry on October 13, 2011. At the time Perry said he was not worried about polls. Following the Perry interview, there is a segment about Anita Perry. She feels her husband is being attacked for his faith. Odd.
God works in mysterious ways. Me thinks Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann did not carefully listen to God’s message. He probably said to them that they had a “free will” and if they chose to run it was all up to them to convince us, the people, that they were worthy of being President. In other words, God said to Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann: ” Thank you my children for seeking my permission to run for the presidency of the United States. You are are absolutely free to run for president, but please don’t look to me if you end up behaving like idiots and morons and the people reject you.”
I confess this is purely speculative on my part since I’ve never been blessed with talking to God. There is one teaching that I still distinctly remember from my Sunday school, which I think still makes a great deal of sense: “God helps those who help themselves.” But then again, looking at the way both Perry and Bachmann behave, who knows what other voices they heard and mistook them to be the voice of God.
I am SUPER busy but I had 5 minutes to stare at the 3rd Picture from the Bottom. Gawd BLESS the wind that blew that jacket. Teeee heeee  Now back to work. I will catch up later.
I confess. At this late hour at work, I saw that pic and had to scroll down, just knowing someone here would make a remark about it. You are some very very naughty ladies here.Tsk tsk tsk :-D
I am calling out Chips right now ladies. Wait until you see him on the court with the guys at the WH playing a game of BB. Did you all see that backside. OM, that is something to behold. I wish and Pray that Chips can find that one. Please Chips. We need some campaign rally encouragement. We will all be in a very big mess after 2017. Can you all even go there with the possibilities of: Mitt, Newt, Hermain, Rick S. , Ron, Rick P. and Lord who knows who else?
I can’t even attack my precious brain or eyesight with those thoughts. Lets move on, and seriously enjoy and respect, and be grateful for the blessings that have been bestowed upon our beautiful First Lady and her lovingly allowing us to take respectful glances. We love and most of all Respect you, Mr. President.
I think I watched that video ten times, brought out the tissue and then replayed the moment that the little girl sees her dad about twelve more times. There are hundreds of thousands of moments like that happening all over this country because of President Obama’s commitment to the troops and to ending the wars responsibly. Brilliant.
Watching Martin Bashir and Michael Isokoff… They are discussing Federal Charges because Penn State gets Federal funds ( The DOE is investigating ) and also possible violations of the Mann Act from Sandusky taking one of the children across State lines all the way to Texas.
They need to throw the book at that whole lot. Tomorrow’s game will be a test of what they’re really made of - either they wear white and support the enabler of child molestation, or they show appropriate decorum and have some respect for the kids who were let down by their idols, and left to the mercies of a child predator who preyed on the weakest children.
Thrid and fourth photos below the schedule: Michelle has that look on her face that wives get when husbands say something silly to mess with them. All of the little snippets that we see of this couple show that this is a real marriage comprised of grown-up people; each with his/her gifts and neither living in the shadow of the other. Respect and love, complementary personalities and a connection that even shows up in the way that they walk together in sync; this is what modern love looks like. Cain (the “real Black man” and would-be philanderer; Newt, the much-divorced -and- often-married; Bachman and her self-hating husband and others should take notes.
So true. I first noticed the synchronization during their walk in the parade after the inauguration ceremony. If you watch the video, they separate their hands to wave to the crowd, each facing in the opposite direction, then their hands come together at the exact same time, without even looking at each other. Now that was mind-blowing to me. Talk about united as one. That’s when you know how much they love one another. Made me fall in love with love all over again :-D
I noticed that, too. In addition, Malia is often in sync with her Dad - lots of pictures showing them walking in exactly the same way, or having the exact same facial expressions at the same time.
Also, as I recall theo67, remember when Malia said that she love seeing her parents hugging and showing that beautiful affection between each other.
I love to see them as well, and I do think that it is so important to see your beautiful parents not being phony with that type of affection where your children can see your love being expressed appropriately. Especially for young girls. They see a very loving father treat their mothers with so much respect, affection, and fun together. Beautiful love, we seel.HZ
“Mrs. Obama has selected an acclaimed local chef to join her for APEC events. And he’s got Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s stamp of approval, too…
Hawaiian chef Ed Kenney is so well known that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner made time to chat with him earlier this week on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Honolulu. And Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie, a longtime fan, tweeted a photo of Kenney and his crew cooking for an APEC reception. This weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama has invited the chef to be her on-island version of Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiatives Sam Kass. Kenney will join Mrs. Obama for two of three APEC events she is hosting, which will take place at two very different farms, and spotlight the Let’s Move! campaign.”

I have to run now, literally, but wanted to leave this bit of culinary news delight to chew on..btw, I’m in Hawai’i..Kaua’i to be specific! I’m excited the Obamas are going to be in our neck of the woods.
This is a good story, and I’m sure helps to bring the Hawai’ians closer to their mainland countrymen. Interesting info about the youth that work with the famous chef, and the issues with obesity and food deserts even in Hawai’i.
Yeah, the weather is grand, Fred. I won’t be seeing anybody as they’re on Oahu but it will feel good just having them a 100 hundred miles away and it will almost be like I’m there.. checking it out on TOD. :)

Romney eyes vouchers for veterans
By Steve Benen
Mitt Romney spent part of his Veterans’ Day in Maudlin, South Carolina, visiting with a dozen vets, and wandering into some dangerous policy waters.
Talking with the veterans about the challenge of navigating the Veterans Affairs bureaucracy to get their health care benefits after they leave active duty, Romney suggested a way to improve the system would be to privatize it.
“Sometimes you wonder, would there be some way to introduce some private sector competition, somebody else that could come in and say, you know each soldier gets X thousand dollars attributed to them and then they can choose whether they want to go on the government system or the private system and then it follows them, like what happens with schools in Florida where they have a voucher that follows them, who knows.”
Even the most conservative Republicans rarely venture into privatizing veterans’ health care benefits. Last year, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Colorado went there, but it was problematic enough that his campaign quickly walked it back.
I can believe it, he has never shown any respect towards our vets and their service. Now he’s just saying the nation doesn’t owe them anything. He is scum!!!
Please tweet to Jim Messina and his group. This is a BFD and should be made known.
Kudos, thanks and appreciation to all service personnel and veterans in America and around the world for their immeasurable contribution to the safety and survival of the global village so far.

America - Obamacare (yes, he does, btw) is not new. President & Co-Founder of the US, John Adams, set the precedent in 1798 http://bit.ly/vEtWgK …. stick that in your clay pipe #teabaggers & #KOHCMAFIASTOOGES :)
“She also said she was “very much bothered” by Herman Cain’s decision to call House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi “Princess Nancy,” calling it another example of the “flawed” GOP field.
The DNC chair spent much of the interview attacking Romney, however, saying Americans need to know “that Mitt Romney would have allowed [the auto] industry to go down” and that Romney “wants to make sure that the wealthiest, most fortunate Americans continue to have the wind at their back.”
Victor Davis Hanson claims Cain is blacker than Obama:
Cain is authentically African-American and of an age to remember the Jim Crow South; Obama, the son of an elite Kenyan and a white graduate student, came of age as a Hawaiian prep-schooler, whose civil-rights credentials are academic. Cain’s lack of experience and seemingly embarrassing ignorance about the right of return or nuclear China are amplified by his unaffected style, whereas Obama’s similar gaffes (57 states) and buffoonery (inflating tires to preclude drilling for oil) are mitigated by metrosexual cool.
Seriously, what is it about this calm and reasonable man in the White House that prompts this unbounded contempt from so many on the right? Adam Serwer is furious:
Hanson doesn’t bother to explain how it is that the overwhelming majority of black people haven’t discerned that Barack Obama is a fraud and that Herman Cain is the second coming of Marcus Garvey, but that’s because their “brainwashed” opinions don’t actually matter. The sole purpose of establishing Cain’s racial authenticity, premised as it is on Hanson’s rather limited view of what constitutes “the black experience,” is for Hanson to flatter himself and his ideological allies as racially enlightened.
My question to Mr. Hanson - why did Cain, this “authentic African-American” man, sit out the Civil Rights era? I think Sully said it best: “Seriously, what is it about this calm and reasonable man in the White House that prompts this unbounded contempt from so many on the right? “
The National Review? Now an expert on all things black huh? Cain “blacker” than Obama?
inner and outer beauty;kindness;respect;truthfulness;generosity;forgiveness;support;love;intelligence;hard work;dedication;faithfulness to his wife and 2 children;love for country and others are what characterizes POTUS
the only thing that POTUS and Cain have in common is that they call themselves AA’s although just like me POTUS and I are biracial.
Cain’s a shuckin’ and jivin’ lying pompous asshole
I love your comment. This whole who’s blacker than whom is so insulting to everyone concerned. Cain isn’t qualified to be president. That’s all there is to it. Mr. Hanson can talk about blackness til the cows come home. It isn’t going to make “Herb” any more qualified. It’s irrelevant.
No need to apologize Fred, for speaking Truth! This is nothing new. This is all aimed at creating division in the black community. The Republican party has absolutely no intention of nominating Herman Cain as Republican nominee for President. I am willing to bet everything I have on my assertion that Herman Cain WILL NOT BE THE NOMINEE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. On the other hand, Herman Cain is not stupid. He did not get this far being stupid. Cain is using his newly found limelight to make as much money as he can. Herman Cain may be black, but his #1 priority is not the Black community. His #1 priority is Herman Cain. One thing about the Black community, that many in the white community may have no clue about, is the ability of many of us to detect con artists. Many of us know a few Herman Cains who become sophisticated at advancing their personal interests by going against the interests of the masses of black people while pretending to be so black. Look at the record of justice Clarence Thomas who, we were told at the time, supposedly admired Malcolm X. Not once has Clarence Thomas sided with the interests of the Black community. Thomas even had the audacity to denounce his predecessor, Justice Thurgood Marshall, who did so much to make it possible for Thomas to be on the Supreme Court. I suppose right wing supporters of Clarence Thomas thought that he was blacker than Thurgood Marshall.
Obama Marks Veterans Day By Standing Up For Those Who Served In Bush’s Wars
===============================================
During his Veterans Day remarks, President Obama focused on the 9/11 Generation of veterans and took care of the those who bravely served in George Bush’s wars.
.
.
George W. Bush’s wars have left a legacy of veterans that our nation must care for and about. The wars may be winding down, but the story of our returning veterans is just beginning.
A reader continues the conversation with Ross and another reader:
I think it has more to do with what Obama says about race. Or what Republicans are afraid he says about them and race. Every time he runs, they grab the nearest black conservative and throw him in front of the cameras as their proof that they aren’t racist. Think Alan Keyes in ’04, Michael Steele in ’08 (they didn’t have a black presidential candidate, so they settled for a black leader of their party), and now Herman Cain. None of these men were the best candidate for the jobs, but they were black and conservative, so they were called to duty.
Basically, without their realizing it, Barack Obama seems to have sold the GOP on affirmative action.
“Basically, without their realizing it, Barack Obama seems to have sold the GOP on affirmative action.”
I think that’s a brilliant observation by Andrew Sullivan. By the way this tactic goes way back. J. Edgar Hoover was always looking for a Black leader that could be groomed to undermine Dr. Martin Luther King. George Bush, Sr. nominated Clarence Thomas, who in my humble opinion was the least qualified African American lawyer/judge, to counter the policies of Justice Thurgood Marshall. And now Herman Cain, who we now know is deeply tied to the Koch brothers. Like the so called journalist, Armstrong Williams, Cain is into this gig because he expects a big pay off. No wonder Ann Coulter calls these so called Black right wingers: “Our Blacks.”
Romney had 11% yes votes for Time’s cover. hahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahhahhahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
O/T Rant: I’m in a compliance training session dealing with billing for therapeutic services and the impact of HIPPA. The first guest speaker talked about the government and some new rules PBO had included for medicare and medicaid. He cracked a few jokes about Perry. The second lady is talking about new government rules against waste, fraud and abuse. Nice, but so g-damned, m-fing BOOOOOOOOOORING!!!!! I’m seriously dying. We aren’t- as students -even supposed to be here. It’s only the clinic billing people who are supposed to be in this 4 hour torture by boredom training as we (student clinicians) don’t handle billing. KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW. KILL ME NOW. KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW. KILL ME NOW. KILL ME NOW. KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.KILL ME NOW.
Somebody, please put me outta my misery.
ps- my friend just leaned over and said that the speaker’s voice is giving her a headache. Oy vey! :( —now she’s talking about the anti-kickback statute. :|
I wonder how much trouble I’d get into if I pushed outta my seat, jumped up on the table and yelled down at the speaker: “GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH !!.” ????
Na…just ask them if this was supposed to be important information, because if it is, ask them why EVERY SINGLE SPEAKER IS GIVING YOU A HEADACHE AND PUTTING YOU TO SLEEP!
They need to sign up for the Barack Obama School of Public Speaking!
Seriously sounds like a lesson in CYA! Surf the web…nap….look at PBO pics….think positive! Grocery list maybe? Sorry to hear that you’re in the torture chamber…hey, IT’S FRIDAY!!! that’s good news….
NEWT WASN’T A LOBBYIST, HE WAS “A HISTORIAN” - (hilarious)
Lobbying Watchdogs Have A Good Laugh Over Newt Gingrich’s ‘Historian’ Line
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a historian, CEO or pastry chef. If you’re advising a group and representing their interests before policymakers, you’re lobbying on their behalf — plain and simple,” the Sunlight Foundation’s Gabriela Schneider told TPM in an email.
Public Citizen’s Craig Holman said this was the first time he’d heard the “ambiguous term ‘strategic consultant’ replaced with an academic term ‘historian,’” but that regardless of the terminology, Gingrich “was hired as a lobbyist for his rolodex built while being a public servant.”
Gingrich, Holman told TPM in an email, “represents the worst of revolving door abuse. Gingrich cashed in on his status as a former public official, taking in $300,000 in salary from Freddie Mac to promote the lender’s business model one year as a ‘strategic consultant’ rather than a registered lobbyist in order to avoid disclosure, and then switched sides when the winds of political opportunity shifted.”
Oh Boy . . .
Herman Cain’s $50-a-head event in West Palm Beach now free
Cain train makes free stop in West Palm Beach: Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain‘s Wednesday fundraiser at the Palm Beach County Convention Center will now be a free rally instead of a $50-a-head event, his campaign announced today.
That’s not a sign that the Cain campaign was having trouble selling tickets to the 5 p.m. event, Cain senior adviser Arlene DiBenigno said.
“We’ve got two finance events after that are doing really well,” DiBenigno said. One is a $999-and-up event at the home of Palm Beach Town Councilman David Rosow.
DiBenigno said the campaign will still accept contributions at the convention center event, but wanted to give Cain’s grass-roots supporters an opportunity to see him for free.
Obama Warns Super Committee Co-Chairs Not To Change Triggers In Deal
WASHINGTON — With the deadline fast approaching for the congressional super committee to make its deficit reduction recommendations, President Barack Obama phoned the committee’s two co-chairs on Friday to urge swift action.
The White House released a sparse summary of the president’s separate phone calls to Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), made from aboard Air Force One. But one detail notably stood out.
The President also made clear that he will not accept any measure that attempts to turn off part of the sequester. The sequester was agreed to by both parties to ensure there was a meaningful enforcement mechanism to force a result from the Committee. Congress must not shirk its responsibilities. The American people deserve to have their leaders come together and make the tough choices necessary to live within our means, just as American families do every day in these tough economic times. The President urged the leaders to get this done.
There has been a lot of chatter on the Hill about changing the parameters of the trigger currently in place so that the cuts to the defense budget — that would be made a year after the committee fails to reach a deal, should it fail to reach a deal — would be softened. And the expectation among Democrats is that enough lawmakers within their party would join with Republicans to do just that.
I was at first a staunch supporter of OWS, but throughout the weeks, they’ve become co-opted by the emoleft as the leftist Tea Party. And because of that, they believe that President Obama is just as owned by the banks as Michele Bachmann and the other Republicans.
Heck even Richard Wolffe on PoliticsNation was pointing this out, that any third party candidate that rants against the banks and Wall Street will get OWS support. This is the same BS we heard in 2000 with Gore vs Bush from Ralph Nader, “both parties are the same, there is NO difference between Bush and Gore.”
IMO as of late, the OWS movement is more of a Ron Paulish movement, because these folks seem to be echoing the same nonsense from Paulites: end the Fed, let Wall Street crash, legalize weed, etc etc etc. Not to mention that some of the OWS are actually inciting fights and claiming it’s the corrupt cops. The OWS need to occupy the offices of these Republicans who continue to favor Wall Street and the banks, and not making fools of themselves in public.
Nintendowii10, Thanks for your forthrightness! As the saying goes, “better late than never.” Don’t get me wrong, I share many of the ideas and frustrations of the people in OWS. But our own Hopefruit2 courageously warned us about this movement, and linked us to information that called into question the motives of the advocates of this movement. To be honest with you, I also never liked the timing of OWS. Just when the President was trying to mobilize the country to support a really meaningful jobs’ bill we have this movement sucking the air out of the media coverage of the President’s campaign to mobilize the country to put pressure on Congress to pass the jobs bill. Instead of focusing on the President’s message, the media ended up focusing on this movement that really has no defined goals and no well formulated tactics to reach those goals.
Permit me to explain what I mean when I criticize OWS for not having “defined goals” and realistic tactics. People in Wisconsin, for example, had a defined goal: undoing the Walker law aimed at taking away the rights of Unions and the rights of public employees. Their tactics: Protest, Occupy Madison, and, more importantly organize massive recalls of the legislators and the Governor. Likewise, the people of Ohio were angry at the Governor Kasich and the legislature for taking away the rights of Public employees. Their tactics: massive rallies, massive voter registrations, massive get out the vote to vote for an initiative that over tuned the anti-Union Kasich law.
Besides just occupying Wall Street and other cities, as well as showing up to disrupt politicians like Bachmann, I am just not clear what’s the next step; especially since some in the movement counsel people not to vote.
VICTORY! Fearing Mass Protest Governor Walker Cancels Wichita Visit
In the wake of mass protests of his attacks on working families in his home state, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has cancelled a high-priced Wichita fundraiser with Governor Brownback and RNC Chair Reince Priebus.
Walker knows he’s toast. The failure of the anti union legislation in Ohio has Scott running scared. He should have thought twice before falling for the journalist posing as one of the Koch Bros and revealing that he’s a governor owned by the rich.

Did anybody listen to Chris Matthews interviewing Stephen King about his latest book? The part where Matthews and King seem to agree that PBO and perhaps Kennedy were powerless or inept against their congresses, whereas Johnson was strong. against his.
Then King asking Matthews if he thought that Biden would be a stronger president than Obama. Matthews agreeing in so many words.
I was cussing before I knew it.
Somebody break this down for me? Did I hear this right? Just grew fangs and there is smoke coming out of my nose, eyes, and ears! Calm me down, somebody!
If Biden would be a stronger President than Obama, Biden would have won in the primaries, same with Hillary. It’s just that simple.
King needs to stick to writing horror novels and keep his nose out of politics. As for Tweety, he’s a Romney clone, not sure which position he wants to take and his views change every day the sun rises and sets.
don’t let these asswipes give you high blood pressure Eve and if you do already;take a deep breath and post a mini “rant” here and you’ll be alright
Tweety and King and Mitchell can all stfu for all I care.
as much as I like Joe he simply doesn’t cut it with all due respect. He’d either be napping in the middle of meetings or he’d be cussing;you chose . . ,
I’ll do that, Fred. I listened to the clip again. King gets it about the hatred shown to JFK and PBO. He sees great parallels between the two. In his book, he must wonder whether JFK would have been able to pull off what LBJ did. I can understand that from the point of view of fiction, but wondering whether Biden would have been better still rankles.
Actually, that’s preposterous, and I know that for a fact. That’s what would calm me down. Must have got tired of mentioning Hillary in that same context. Threw a new one out there. It’s all an attempt to diminish Obama, for whatever cockeyed reason. Probably cause Obama is a million miles above all of them in depth and quality.
I agree +10, especially where Tweety is concerned. He’s almost schizophrenic - you never know where he is going to come from next. I think he has a picture of what a “strong” leader is and he can’t make PBO fit that image. That’s why he always brings up his giants: FDR, Clinton, and now Kennedy. He offended me most.
O.K., I’m really through with it now. I appreciated your insight..
This is such a stupid analysis which totally fails to take into context the assassination of President Kennedy which was still fresh in people’s mind. Moreover, It fails to take into account the on-going massive protests by the Black Freedom Movement that our history books call the Civil Rights Movement. As Rev. Al recently said, Johnson would have gone no where without the wind on his back from the relentless and courageous Civil Rights Movement. Nor would Johnson have had anything accomplished if it weren’t for people trying to honor the memory of a slain popular president.
I am so sick of these slick people who try to present revisionist history without context. If LBJ was so great how come he left the presidency in disgrace? How come an unknown Senator from Minnesota, Eugene McCarthy, managed to force LBJ from running for re-election? We are sold the LBJ of 1964-1965 who governed at the time when the country was still grieving over the loss of JFK. Yes, he had connections in Congress after having served there for decades, and especially in his role as Senate Majority Leader. Nevertheless, by 1966, LBJ was not doing that well with Congress. Very little is said of the LBJ’s record of 1966-1968. Here is a president who presided over a country that was practically in the midst of a revolution, and in many ways splitting apart. Any one remember the Commission on Civil Disobedience (better known as the Kerner Commission) that the America was divided into two societies, “black and white, separate and unequal.” Try as he did, LBJ was unable to bring the country together. Hence his decision not to run for re-election. But now we are being indoctrinated by the likes of Chris Mathhews and Stephen King about what a strong man LBJ was and how he supposedly would make members of Congress quiver in their boots every time he spoke. I am sorry to say, but this is pure mythology! Any one who analyzes LBJ’s record without putting into context of the mood of the country, following the assassination of JFK, the on going massive Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War, is trying to sell the public revisionist history based on manufactured myths.
I want to hear how Andrew Sullivan ( he’s on too) comments on King’s book and see if he stands up for PBO as he usually does at TDB. But I probably won’t, too close to blowing a gasket right now.
Rev Al and Chris Hayes made excellent points about the midterms and why the Teabags won. The healthcare fight took a lot of energy out of the left. and of course you had the emoleft whining about it not being public option or single payer, and calling PBO a failure, capitulator, caver, etc.
Now the emoleft whiners have been exposed and mostly neutered, us Obamabots have the tide. That’s why the anti union issue failed in Ohio and the personhood anti abortion bill failed in Mississippi.
The media largely underestimates our power. They were wrong in 2008, and they’ll be wrong next year. Whatever Republican they nominate, whether it’s Romney, Gingrich, Perry, the Republican won’t win, and we have to ensure that they don’t win.
Just so in sync and so lovely, both of them.
And the “Got Your Back” image looks like an all-American silhouette. I won’t say “the woman behind the man,” as depicted, since they are equal partners!
Aloha!!!
Wish I was heading to Hawaii.
I heard that Reggie love is leaving so maybe you can sign up to be PBO’s body “gal” and you’ll get to go to Hawaii at least once a year!!!
Random thought…. Is there a way to create an online card we can all sign to see Reggie off at the end of the year?
Great idea - he’s really been a helping hand, in many important ways, for President Obama. I think his role as confidante helped the President retain his sanity. I think they’ll both miss each other. I would love to do an online card.
My hope it that POB will be sent another angel like Reggie who would also be a great confidante for our beloved President.. It will happen, we do believe.HZ
Let’s pray on it!
Dakota, I agree. I have it down in my book of prayer and meditation now.HZ
Very nice idea! Would definitely sign if someone creative can do the card :)
Same here, hopefruit2.HZ
oh that would be neat! I would sign that.
That position—PBO’s body gal—-would likely be flooded with applications. :)
I was just about to ask have POTUS and FLOTUS left for San Diego yet? May the good Lord watch over them and keep them safe.
Reposting from last thread:
Hey, TOD family. Please take a moment to vote for our brilliant President to be Time’s person of the year and then post to Facebook, Twitter and send to family and friends.

Will do Proud.
Our First couple is just dynamic! Just……wow!
Done.
Wow some of the choices are very strange….
Indeed. E.g., Cain?!?!? Bachmann?!?!?!
Why in the world is Casey Anthony even on the list? That is just sickening.
YEAHHHHH, :-(
With those bizarre choices, I was surprised that A Corporation wasn’t a choice.
Never mind, I didn’t realize this was just who should be nominated not who do you want to be Person of the Year.
Strange indeed…I mean, really…everyone on this site would be better choices than some of the choices presented!
Thanks, proudofobama,
I clicked on your link and couldn’t navigate to voting for PBO. My bad but I need more explicit direction.
PBO is #23 on the slides. You can vote YES/NO on all of them. I also voted for Steve, and Seal Team 6.
Click the red NEXT button to go to the next choice.
Thanks, for offering the direction, Tally. Just getting back into the thread and seeing the question.
Thanks, tally for your help. I also agree with your voting choices.
I meant to vote for just Barack but I ended up voting for the Arab Youth protestors, Warren Buffet, Gabby Giffords, and Seal Team 6 also. I’m alittle sad that Jobs is in the lead instead of Seal Team 6.
I was pleased to see Gabby on the list. I hope she is chosen by Time as Person of the Year if not PBO! ;)
did it and tweeted it. what did i do before there was twitter?
That’s exactly who I voted for!
Only 46% for PBO, 50+ no’s, keep voting everyone!
Done!

Both Newt and Mitt come across as mean spirited to me…..
Newt appears to be a very angry man. The way he spoke to the female CNBC moderator on Tuesday was very harsh.
Linda, I agree Newt seems mean spirited (and nasty too), Mittens seems more like the rich guy that doesn’t like to be brooked. PBO will wipe the floor with either of them.
I agree and not a bit worried about him getting re-elected…….
A total mystery, Ladyhawke. He has a very mean spirit, IMO. HZ
Well said! It’s all about these grifters’ branding, isn’t it.
In other words, gn, the “Grifter Circuit”. The PL is envious and working to attain equal grifting status.
lol, indeed!
better deal with an outright asshole in Gingrich than a sneaky lying asshole that is Romney.
“Newt bounding up the stairs…” :-) Watch out now theo67, Chips will bring out Newt’s mankini pic :-)
If Newt gets the nomination, the mankini photo needs to be spread far and wide!!!! :-D
Oh, heavens, NO! 8O
:-) :-)
I can’t imagine any of these persons being invited to Buckingham Place…sitting down to dinner with the Queen or having the ability to create the kind of love and admiration that will cause people to wait in line for hours (even in the cold/snow) to hear tem speak…Lord Have Mercy…none of these people deserve to be CIC. “No way, no how”.
Aery insightful Puddin’. I’ll co-sign, thank you very much.
And don’t forget Tiffany’s,
but it would be so awesome if it were Newt. We’ve got him in a bejewelled Man-kini. We could share that with the world…… bah ha ha ha.
I posted before I read your comment.
You are exactly right a4alice. Man-ki-ni, man-ki-ni, man-ki-ni
a4alice, maybe we could suggest to Chipsticks to order in advance from Tiffany several colors so we would have choices for each day, if we must watch this clown. Just a suggestion. Lets get that pre-oder in now Chips, please.HZ
Right you are HZ! Brilliant :-)
THE DISGRACED FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE
A new GOP top tier?
=====================================
Seriously?

We must remember that a newt is in the salamander family. ;-)
“Newt Gingrich is on the verge of becoming the new GOP frontrunner.”
It that were to be the case, it would be time for a Mankini moment. It will be Mankini all the time. Go Newt.
Dear TOD Family,
Mitt Romney here.
Love and hugs,
Mitt
If you imagine Mitt saying this with that perpetual smirk on his face - it’s perfect!
Ha!
HZ

The First Lady looks especially fly today.

JEREMY’S STORY
‘Mom, will President Obama be proud of me for helping the soldiers?’”
=====================================================

Touching.
I hope Jeremy gets to meet our President in person.
I hope so also, hopefruit2. That would be so great for Jeremy and POTUS. Let say our prayers and focus within our meditation times for it to happen , and see.HZ
What a nice Storryyyyyyyyy :D
Thanks Tally. I received Michelle Obama’s email this afternoon, and I donated $50 so the troops can get phone cards.
Michelle’s boots!!!!!!
LOVE the boots. Looking forward to their visit to California, however brief. Then what a crazy schedule for PBO. Hope we can all keep up!!
Herman Cain was in Orange County this week. The Obamas presence will help to clear the air of that toxic energy.
Oh, boy, that one slayed me! What the heck fun are we going to have in 2017?
Theo, you have a some FIERCE memory. That is exactly when she wore them.
:) It’s the addiction speaking.
Remember COS and theo67, she stated that she loves clothes and especially shoes. And remember she said that POB knew that before he married her. I love them sharing those lovely gems with us.HZ
Sue, those boots are baaaad!
My love affair with MyStephen goes so deep, it pains me to write the following, but Rev Al is gaining traction. Is he married?
Romney just cannot pas 23%
Mitt Romney should be called Mr. 23%. Could he actually win the GOP nomination with only 23%? Very weird.
IMho, this video sums up the GOP field quite nicely-I.D.J.I.T.S!~
That pollster’s term, “top tier” is clearly overstated. These are the lowest of the low!
Is God Really Telling Rick Perry to Run for President?
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2011/11/is-god-really-telling-rick-perry-to-run-for-president/248285/#.Tr10nQEheGY.twitter
Rick Perry - “I don’t worry much about polls.”
The Today Show Matt Lauer interviewed Rick Perry on October 13, 2011. At the time Perry said he was not worried about polls. Following the Perry interview, there is a segment about Anita Perry. She feels her husband is being attacked for his faith. Odd.
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44901449/ns/today-today_people/t/rick-perry-i-dont-worry-too-much-about-polls/#.Tr14L_GwBZs
Vote for our President as TIMES Person of the Year!

I am SUPER busy but I had 5 minutes to stare at the 3rd Picture from the Bottom. Gawd BLESS the wind that blew that jacket. Teeee heeee  Now back to work. I will catch up later.
You’re not the only one…
The naughty mats have been laid out already - waiting to be occupied.
Now, that’s an Occupy movement I can get behind 100%. ;)
What a “view.”
I think that YOUR naughty mat is monogrammed! :) I’m with you though…thank goodness for small favors, and gusts of wind!
I confess. At this late hour at work, I saw that pic and had to scroll down, just knowing someone here would make a remark about it. You are some very very naughty ladies here.Tsk tsk tsk :-D
hahahahahhaha…i was NOT going to mention that….hammercy….
President.
You need to quit!

Hi everyone, some more photos added to the post - and check the video at the end.
thanks for that video. It is so important to know just how much our military men and women sacrifice to keep our country safe.
God bless them everyone.
OMG Chips…that last video is absolutely priceless. Thanks!
Warning folks: Last video= Serious tearjerker & heartwarming at the same time.
Thanks for that wonderful video Chips…as I head to the ladies’ room to fix my makeup :-)
That was great Chips. Somebody get me a tissue. I could eat her up. What a sweetie. Daddy’s girl.
I think I watched that video ten times, brought out the tissue and then replayed the moment that the little girl sees her dad about twelve more times. There are hundreds of thousands of moments like that happening all over this country because of President Obama’s commitment to the troops and to ending the wars responsibly. Brilliant.
Beautiful video, left me in tears!!

That’s a good lookin group!
“The First Lady’s Chef in Hawai’i”

FLOTUS finds the men who look good and can cook!!! :-D
This is a good story, and I’m sure helps to bring the Hawai’ians closer to their mainland countrymen. Interesting info about the youth that work with the famous chef, and the issues with obesity and food deserts even in Hawai’i.
thanks for this Cha.I envy your good weather.Hope you get to see POTUS and FLOTUS

I wonder how the vets responded to this silliness by Mitt.
I’m sure the vets have more political skills than Willard.
Mittens just made another ad for the Obama team. I can’t believe he said that.
I can believe it, he has never shown any respect towards our vets and their service. Now he’s just saying the nation doesn’t owe them anything. He is scum!!!
Hey! Thanks, Mitt! The gift that just keeps on giving!
Please tweet to Jim Messina and his group. This is a BFD and should be made known.
Kudos, thanks and appreciation to all service personnel and veterans in America and around the world for their immeasurable contribution to the safety and survival of the global village so far.

What Is Authentic Blackness?
The sole purpose of establishing Cain’s racial authenticity, premised as it is on Hanson’s rather limited view of what constitutes “the black experience,” is for Hanson to flatter himself and his ideological allies as racially enlightened.
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2011/11/what-is-authentic-blackness.html
My question to Mr. Hanson - why did Cain, this “authentic African-American” man, sit out the Civil Rights era? I think Sully said it best: “Seriously, what is it about this calm and reasonable man in the White House that prompts this unbounded contempt from so many on the right? “
This is a useless debate….posed to detract and sidetrack….
BECAUSE IT DOES NOT MATTER…ON ANY GIVEN DAY..BOTH OF THESE MEN COULD BE VICTIMIZED BASED ON THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN…..
Cain’s a shuckin’ and jivin’ lying pompous asshole
mini rant done.I APOLOGIZE to my TOD family
I love your comment. This whole who’s blacker than whom is so insulting to everyone concerned. Cain isn’t qualified to be president. That’s all there is to it. Mr. Hanson can talk about blackness til the cows come home. It isn’t going to make “Herb” any more qualified. It’s irrelevant.
absolutely JG
Cain is ‘blacker” than Obama. So. I’ll still take Barack Obama.
Cain is an idiot in any color..I do’nt care how deep his shade is. He’s a greedy asshole with no morals.
We got the real deal for our President.

What Cain Says About Race, Ctd

Brawawwaaaa(there’s been a lot of that lately..)
“Basically, without their realizing it, Barack Obama seems to have sold the GOP on affirmative action.”
Thanks rikyrah~
Somebody, please put me outta my misery.
ps- my friend just leaned over and said that the speaker’s voice is giving her a headache. Oy vey! :( —now she’s talking about the anti-kickback statute. :|
p.p.s- just realized that this was more whining than rant. either way, the sentiment is still the same : KILL ME NOW.

GOOD. Thank you Mr. President.
Michele Bachmann heckled off stage by OWS

Wow…big tuff guy is really a scardy cat.

I’m through with it though.
Dotster3,
I agree +10, especially where Tweety is concerned.
OMG! You won’t want to miss Bill Maher tonight! I hear somebody’s going to be on discussing a new book about JFK!

Brawawaawawaa…You don’t say?!!!
I want to hear how Andrew Sullivan ( he’s on too) comments on King’s book and see if he stands up for PBO as he usually does at TDB. But I probably won’t, too close to blowing a gasket right now.
Hi everyone, new post here - the Obamas arrive in San Diego:
http://theobamadiary.com/2011/11/11/san-diego/
