Good morning TODers
I pray for a speedy recovery for all those impacted by Sandy.
Wow. Top 5! I cannot wait until our President kicks his ass in the election so that we do not have to hear from this jerk ever again.
Thanks Chips! I just posted your tweet on the last thread. I’m glad that most folks aren’t falling for this nonsense that Romney is pulling. Some in the MSM are pretending to not see through it, but we know better.
Now the questions come, reportedly five from pool reporters. Tomorrow is time to start the Ads with the videos of Romney saying that FEMA and disaster relief is “immoral.”
Why couldn’t he respond? He has no problem lying. I heard yesterday that he walked back his anti-FEMA comments, which is not surprised given that he flip flops whenever it suits him.
Am I the only one who wants to punch Jonah Goldberg in the face, repeatedly? Him and Glenn Beck; it could be like RWNJ whack-a-mole.
Morning LL – I definitely have the same feeling! And while you’re there, I’d add Eric Erickson
I avoid any media where JG, GB or any other Rightwinger would appear. MSNBC and CURRENT TV for me all the way. I even turn away from MSNBC whenever Ron Christie is yelling. Don’t know why he keeps getting invited on.
in their case, LL, it should be spat-a-rat.
Thanks Chips. This is what we should all be highlighting instead of talking about the scummy mittbot.
Hay Amk I read somewhere that you are going to SriLanka tomorrow. Say hi to my relatives while you are over there will you?.
Hi chitra. Sure. Leaving tomorrow night and will be there for two days. Chips has my mail id.
Where are you staying? Colombo or Kandy? My folks live in a very rural area of the country. Have phones no internet.
Colombo. Taj Samudra, Too bad I can’t call them.
I think I posted this just as the new link showed up. Wanted to give my O peeps a proper howdy do.
“Goooood Daaaay to all my O peeps on this great getting up day on the TOD stoop!! I’m so happy to hear from our east coast TODsters that all is well.
I’m also glad that there are no polls taking place because of the storm. Those who are still polling are not getting about 25% of the populace. So yay to that. Now, if we can just shut the pundits up for a few days, we may survive this roller coaster ride. FORWARD y’all!!!
My political take today is ^^^^^^”
Seeing our President on the job, makes Romney’s silly campaign events look even worse.
I saw a tweet somewhere that some reporters were overheard at Romney’s “disaster” rally saying “there’s a 40% chance of him saying something stupid” LOL. They know their man.
I know ppl trust PBO to take care of business. He does it in such a thoughtful, quiet decisive way that it sometimes look effortless, which I believe can blind some folks to just how hard it must be carrying the world (literally) on your shoulders. He’s restored actual competence to the White House. Competence, Integrity and Compassion, that’s what we need in our leader.
He really said that?? I’ve been off-line all day.
While one person leads (Pres. Obama), another attempts to steal an election.
I just tweeted this to the Justice Dept. Their twitter handle is @TheJusticeDept.
Hello all. Hope everyone is safe including family and friends.
Just wanted to post that because of the Jeep ad that Romney is running now on radio and TV in Ohio and some say Michigan too, Chrysler has written a letter to the Editor of the Detroit News about the claim being false:
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20121030/AUTO0101/210300401#ixzz2AnaYIl1J
This paper endorsed Romney. The irony of it all.
Bottom line, more and more people are coming out to expose the liar.
Reply
Too little, too late.
Yes, this area has a lot of NY transplants. And they are Dems at heart!
DOES THIS SURPRISE ANYONE?
New Documents Reveal Romney Stole From Charity, Avoided Taxes
For awhile now, people have talked about how Romney donates a sizable part of his earnings to charity. Talked up by the right-wing as a sign of nobility, that Romney is a good person for it, they use it as a measuring stick against Obama.
Unfortunately for Romney, the truth about at least some of his charitable giving is not so noble. It makes one wonder if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was right this summer when he said, “I was told by an extremely credible source that Romney has not paid taxes for ten years.“ No wonder Romney refuses to release his tax returns.
Bloomberg is now reporting that due to a grandfathered in charitable trust, the Romney family is able to effectively launder millions of dollars through what is listed on their tax returns as “charitable donations.” This form of tax deduction loophole was closed some years ago, but this trust is allowed to operate due to a loophole which makes trusts put in place before the new law was put in to place exempt.
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/10/30/new-documents-reveal-romney-stole-from-charity-avoided-taxes/
Woooooot!
Excellent.
Wonderful.
This is FANTASTIC. Thanks Jovie for the update.
On election night msnbc will have Rachel and the boyz on air. I would like to have another woman added to the stage and I think Joy Ann Reid would be an excellent addition. I have written to msnbc, Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz, and Chris Matthews with my suggestion. Any other ideas on whom to contact?
Yes, I want to see Joy Ann and Crystal Ball. And among the boyz, they should include Richard Wolfe AND Martin Bashir. I don’t want to hear Chris Matthews’ never-ending manic rants about Obama being lucky or such crap.
I’m with you, Joy and Crystal Ball. Both of them bring excellent analyses and are able to express complex ideas very simply. They are a pleasure to watch.
JOY is fantastic and very, very, smart. ♥ her! She gets it right all the time.
Joy Ann, Crystal Ball, Richard Wolfe, Martin Bashir and Ari Melber would all be perfect. I could even stomach Joan Walsh, although I no longer read Salon.
Rev. Al.
Joy. just Joy. I could do without the rest though. I don’t know why i’m replying. I wont be watching as the tally comes in. That’s the last place i want to get the news that PBO has won.
If I see Steve Schmidt or Michael Steele (or worse yet, Megan McCain), on that show on election night, I will switch it off.
you know they will be there. of course they will, it’s MSNBFOX for pete’s sake.
Arrgghhh!
x 1 billion
Does Megan still appear on MSNBC? The last time I saw her on Al Sharpton’s show, she looked like she was going to have a mental breakdown. She couldn’t hold back her rage and at one point snapped at Rev Al. It was quite amusing, but I could do without ever seeing her again on any show. Like her father, she is always seething.
Can’t remember Meghan’s exact words it was something like, ( I told you already what do you want from me?) Can’t use quotes as I am paraphrasing her words. I emailed them that if she were not mature enough to answer the questions and be the voice on the other side they need to get someone else for that job.
I’ve never been able to tolerate her, especially after she claimed she would join the opposition – whomever it might be – to “kick Pres Obama’s ass” out of the White House. Little twirp.
Notice that all Romney supporters/endorsers seem to have a pathological obsession with our President.
why did we need to know this? No offense HF, but seriously. Nobody cares what this ass thinks about anything.
+1.
+2. But that would go for lots of idiotic tweets and punditry I see reposted here. I don’t get it, and I don’t think I ever will.
+3
I’m not posting this because I’m interested in Donald Trump – I’m posting this because Donald Trump happens to be one of Mitt Romney’s BIGGEST endorsers, and Romney is the current Republican contender for the Presidency.
So yes, that’s why Trump is relevant – because it’s people like him who are currently advising Romney and who will be advising Romney if he gets into the WH.
Donald Trump is an ass and I’ll follow PBO’s lead by giving him the exact amount of attention he deserves: NONE.
This is more about Romney than Trump per se. And, PBO did release his long form certificate and mentioned Trump at the WHCD. So there are times these fools do need to be exposed and ridiculed.
okay, we already know worse things about Willard’s character than having Trump out running his mouth. The fact that he’s a draft dodger? More important than having Trump as an ally. Being a tax dodger? More important than having Trump as an ally. Being a lying cheating scumbag in his business partner’s divorce proceedings? More important than having Trump as an ally. Saying 47% of Americans are useless victims looking for a handout? More important than having Trump as an ally. Campaigning while people on the other side of the country are suffering? More important than having Trump as an ally. Going to parents of a woman who was having a dangerous pregnancy in order to get the parents to force their daughter to not abort the dangerous pregnancy? More important than having Trump as an ally. Being a constant, thoughtless, degenerate liar? More important than having Trump as an ally…… the point is, we already know Mitt.
We know that, but it’s important to let the MSM and other anti-Obama lurkers know that we are aware of it. It does deter them from spreading crap when they otherwise would.
If this is what you want to do, then okay. I’m not trying to sound condescending or mean. I know that sometimes it feels as though I’m drowning in right wing bullshit that never gets called out, or that I don’t or can’t make a difference and so it helps when there are ways in which we feel as though we are making a difference, and making our voices heard. If this is your cause, then have at it.
No lisa you weren’t condescending at all. It’s just different points of view on this one issue – which is fine with me. I have on many occasions myself cautioned folks on bringing certain reports here – particularly when I feel that the information leads to more fear and apathy, rather than action among PBO supporters.
But when it involves ridiculing or calling out some MSM pundit (like Coward Fineman the other day) or Willard supporter, then I think it helps to expose them and show the obvious shilling for Willard or ridiculous obsession (which highlights their fear) with PBO.
Yep, No reason to give the man the attention he craves by making outlandish statements. He accomplishes his mission by getting folks to retweet. He measures his effectiveness by those numbers.
egg.sack.lee. Now if it had been a tweet mocking this carnival barker, that’s a different story.
Can we declare this a Trump-Free-Zone for the next week?? I can’t bear seeing his ugly mug in a place like TOD, which should remain clean of assholes. Thank you.
That these monsters are allowed to any national audience is amazing to me:
again, why do we need to know with that ass thinks about PBO? don’t we already know Trump is a classless, egotistical buffoon with an IQ of 40? thanks but no thanks, 57….. seriously, lets just focus on PBO, the victims of Sandy and what a fricking liar and fake WIllard is.
We need to know because these are the kinds of people that Mitt Romney admires, respects and associates with. And as President, these are the kinds of people who will be advising him on all kinds of critical matters.
I won’t humor that punk by playing “what ifs” about Willard in the WH. that way leads to madness. No thanks.
Agreed.
This is not about humoring Trump. This is to maintain awareness about the kind of candidate that Mitt Romney is. All his supporters/endorsers are viewing the Hurricane in strictly political lenses. A picture was posted today of one of his supporters wearing an “Obama -you’re fired” T-shirt at a so-called storm relief rally today.
In an alternate universe, if Willard wins the WH, we’ll know he cheated. That’s all we need to know in order to know everything about him. I don’t care about Trump, he’s a bankrupt deadbeat with nothing to offer anyone. Let that tool say whatever he wants to say. Don’t you realize? People don’t care about Trump, that’s why his latest bit of foolishness was so easily laughed off. I doubt Willard would create a cabinet position for Trump. I doubt he even likes him. He’s using Trump, just like he uses everyone and everything else for personal gain. I don’t care about Trump and have better things to worry about.
It’s too late for maintaining awareness. The only thing that counts now is GOTV. There are no more “undecideds” and probably haven’t been for some time. Everyone know who they support. Our job is to get them to the pols.
I so agree as I mentioned up thread, he accomplishes his goal of getting the attention. Plus, everyone here on this blog site already know about his affiliation with Mitt. There is nothing to be gained by reiterating anything he says. For that matter, I can’t think of anything Mitt says or does that makes a difference here. Who cares, really. Our focus should be on GOTV.
+1. Eyes on the ball.
I tweeted this to my followers:
President Obama is kinda busy right now w Sandy so he needs us to stand in the gap. VOTE & help GOTV. Me? Phonebanking on Thurs at OFA-NorNV
I love that in that picture, President Obama has note pads in front of him, as many as all the other people at the table. Normally, he’s receiving information and other people are taking notes. In this picture, he’s actively on the case, and in it deep. This country is so lucky to have this man in charge.
I hope to see PBO in the press room soon. He should be visible, even for a few minutes.
Hey BWD, you will be getting your wish. Pres Obama is due to speak at 2:20PM ET.
Nena, I’m not sure that’s right, that tweet was an old one.
I just saw you tweet down the thread. I am sorry. I didn’t look at the date.
No worries Nena.
Well, pres Obama will be making some comments at the Red Cross building in a few mins. So perhaps, that was it.
Chrysler Slams Romney with Facts, ‘U.S. production of our Jeep models has nearly tripled’
By: Sarah Jones
———————————–
How do you know when your lie is so big it won’t be allowed to stand? Maybe it’s when President Clinton said yesterday that Jeep has called Romney’s claim “the biggest load of bull in the world.” Maybe it’s when Vice President Biden asks if you have any shame. Or maybe it’s when the CEO of a major corporation takes to newspapers repeatedly to correct you in no uncertain terms, even though they know they risk alienating the frothing Republican base.
Chrysler isn’t taking Mitt Romney’s lies about Jeep moving production to China lying down. Just to be sure everyone has it right, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has written a letter published in the Detroit News restating the truth for those who have difficulties with reality.
Sadly for Mitt Romney, Chrysler’s side of reality is backed up by numbers and it tells of huge success – another fact Romney wants to pretend isn’t happening.

Elections chief attempts to explain ‘missing’ FL voters http://on.thegrio.com/WYi2CO via @theGrio
That’s cool!
I just find Romney pretending to have this “relief rally” really offensive. The Press should call it out for what it is – a CAMPAIGN rally
How will we ever be able to wash away the stench of the Romney-Ryan campaign. I can’t put into words how much I loathe their cynical and dishonest behavior. The contempt that they have shown for the media and the voters is remarkable. The fact that they got this close to the Oval Office is horrifying. (smdh)
don’t worry LH. The joy of seeing PBO inaugurated will quickly wash away said stench.
Yup – that really is the worst part. That they got this close to the Oval Office, as though the American people really can’t be grateful for the past four years of recovery and progress and stellar leadership and shining example that they’ve received from President Obama. They would let this cretin Romney get that close to controlling the fate of the world because of racism? It’s disgusting. That they would dare to compare the utter incompetence of Romney to the absolute competence and grace of President Obama is the worst part of this campaign.
I second your comments, Ladyhawke.
Well said PB Good to see you again! #OBAMABYALANDSLIDE
I’M BAAAACCKKKK!!!!
Power went yesterday afternoon and came back on about 20 minutes ago. My phone died hours ago, had to eat sardines for breakfast and trashed all the food that was in my fridge a couple of hours before the power came back on — wouldn’t have eaten it anyway.
Got a 9V battery from my landlord so I was able to listen to the radio while the power was out. After listening to all three Governors of the tri-state area I was afraid it would be days before the power came back on. ABC News gave such great descriptions of what they were seeing. A water tanker lifted on to the street, Gov. Christie talked about houses in the middle of the highway, one man talked about his father hanging on the back of his house for dear life thinking he’s going to drown. Son can’t get to him. Just horrible scary stuff.
Glad you survived the night, gobrooklyn! Welcome back. What a harrowing story about the father and son – just horrific.
Thanks theo. I hope they are ok now.
Welcome back gobrooklyn! Glad that your power has been restored and that you are safe. 🙂
Thanks hope! So glad I had my radio. Even with power outage, I’m quite lucky. Many won’t get theirs back for days and I don’t have to deal with any flooding.
Yes we have to be thankful for every little bit that we have. It’s so ironic – I was very much prepared for power outage during this storm as well as for Hurricane Irene last year. And I didn’t lose power in either case. But this summer, I was caught totally off guard and not at all prepared for the loss of power (3 days) after the Derecho on June 29.
In all my time living here, this is only time I’ve lost power. I was a little prepared but not as much as I should have been.
I lived in Brooklyn in Aug 2003 when the power grid kicked out and the entire NY state, portions of the entire North East through MI was without power for a couple days or more. That was also a sudden unexpected thing. But outside of that event we never lost power during a snow storm or thunderstorm.
Wasn’t here for that one.
Oh and don’t remind me of snow storms. I hope we don’t have a franken this winter.
Glad that you’re ok, gb.
Thanks, AMK
glad you’re back & safe gobrooklyn ~ take care.
I will Sher, thanks.
🙂 you’re very welcome,
So thankful you are ok, gb!
Thanks Bob!
Yay GB! Glad you are OK!
Thanks Alice. Good to be back.
LMAO.
Here ya go.
Hahahahahaha…..and he’s tied up in NC too. His internals must be troubling.
Unlike the most from the left, I am confident we will win FL.
Have I told you lately that I LOVE your confidence! #OBAMABYALANDSLIDE 😀
Time to start running ads in Florida about how Mitt feels about FEMA and federal aid to disaster victims. Also how he made fun of Climate Change at his convention.
bob i don’t know who sergim is but if you do that’s good enough for me! #PRESSON
CEO of Fiat – owner of Chrysler 🙂
#TrustBarack
thankee!
Okay, my skin is crawling but I clicked on Mitt’s site — no link to the Red Cross? Is that even possible? He loves to follow what PBO does, but there isn’t one advisor that thought to add the Red Cross to the donation page?
They are all sociopaths. Every effing one of them.
When we win this election, we must not let those worthless media pundits such as andrea mitchell, chuck todd, etc., Etch-A-Sketch their reckless, lying manipulative behavior away. I for one, will be using all forms of communication to try and chance their a@# off of MSNBC.
Oh I’m so with you. I have quite a few choice words ready for all the media for all the bullshit they spewed this election.
I can’t wait.
Yup – I plan to spend all of Wednesday tweeting the media and saying “nah, nah, nah, nah, nah”.
Hello TODers, Chips! Have power & was grateful to catch up on all of you & see all are OK. Do we have any TODers in WV, Pittsburgh PA? How the heck are you w/ that snowstorm? Tell Duke & Duchess of LaJollaShire to go eat beans & go gas their offshore accounts! OK they’re more than pissing me off right now, and probably doing so till Tuesday! Then we will kick them from our collective lawns! 🙂
xtine, glad your ok. Pittsburgh fared pretty well. The snow is in the mountain areas to our east. Great skiing in the Laurel Highlands. They have somehting like 14″ of snow. It was 80 degrees there this past Friday! And West Virginia is getting hammered.
Hello GrabaMopGrace! Glad to hear about Pittsburgh & Laurel Highlands! Maybe this will be great for a ski season! 🙂
Thanks for reporting in, xtine. Glad you survived the night and doing ok!
Hello Theo! Thanks! We had 80MPH winds whipping through here last night. Speeding! Where are those state troopers when you need them! 🙂
Meant to say “pass gas” not “go gas” — 🙂
Their were so many Empty seats at Robney rally in Ohio, it was pathetic. Upper seating- large sections, even right behind Him.
Where are the headlines?
Jovie, do you have any photos?
Please send them to Chips. i would love to see them
If you have pics post here and I will retweet
Awesome.
Yessssss! 🙂
remember just a month or so ago all the dairies at daily kos basically saying warren’s lost it, a la martha coakley, and how president obama was not helping her at all and all the doom and gloom chicken little-ing? i remember one day i checked there and there for 4-5 dairies featuring that topic at one time in the recommended sidebar. so many of the self-proclaimed keepers of progressivism are the last people i ever want on my team!!
I’ve so had it with the whiny left. Chris Matthews calling PBO ‘lucky’ again this morning and their constant rants about the first debate. Imagine if progressives had managed the message and worked together. With these yahoos, they would have whined about Medicare in 1965, which was a mere shadow of what it is today. Disgraceful.
They’re going to leave those cans there as collateral damage!
Goodmorning e1, happy to hear everyone at TOD is ok and safe from sandy.
Has anyone seen this yet? This needs to be tweeted!
Here is the asshole tweeting false things last night in the wake of hurricane sandy. And guess who he is …..a hedge-fund analyst and the campaign manager of Christopher R. Wight, this year’s Republican candidate for the U.S. House from New York’s 12th congressional district.http://gofwd.tumblr.com/post/34640321762/shashank-tripathi-last-nights-twitter-villain
I have no problem with hopefruit and others posting stuff about Trump or what Romney is doing in Ohio. If you can’t laugh or mock what Trump and the GOP is doing at this point in the election cycle, that says more about you than Trump or any TOD person posting tweets or news.
+1
I’d rather not see it until after the election is signed, sealed, and delivered. The race is too close for us to be giving the buffoons any undeserved attention. They relish in folks retweeting and posting their nonsense. I say we get the last laugh after all is said and done. Besides, I’m not so sure the postings are being done for comic relief, rather more to generate outrage.
Whenever I post these tweets, comments about Romney and/or his supporters etc.,my tone is not of concern or fear for PBO, but one of mockery and contempt for those supporters and Willard. People like Akin, Murdouck, Trump, Sununnu, etc..should be tied to Romney and are glaring examples of what a Romney presidency would yield. We cannot let Romney get away with positioning himself as this “moderate” Mitt while the MSM is only too happy to play along. We rightfully associate him with these characters – because they represent everything he stands for.
This should be posted on sites where undecideds go, or where the low information voters gather. It serves no purpose to keep hearing about the atrocities that is the Mitt brigade among folks who are doing what we can to get our guy elected. I don’t read mockery at all, but rather a ‘can you believe this’ or ‘look what they’re saying now’ type comment. Again, this close to the election, I’d rather read about the good news for the PBO campaign and what more we can do to help.
No offense to any lurkers reading this, but you are on a site called ‘The Obama Diaries’, if your mind can be swayed by what Trump, Sununu, or any pundit has to say at this late date, your time would be better served getting yourself educated on the policies that the two candidates have to offer.
‘scuzzi, the site name is ‘The Obama Diary’. sorry Chips
Republicans, RW media, Undecideds and MSM pundits lurk on these pro-Obama sites!!! And what we say here is important! That’s why I get livid when folks come here and criticize PBO – they are providing fodder for the anti-Obama interests who lurk here.
Exactly, what we say here is important and I can’t think of anything more important than pushing the positive outcomes of the PBO campaign and our hard work. How about posting some contrasting policy between the two? How about educating the undecideds with how a PBO vote will benefit them and there families? I don’t think a post about what Trump said serves any purpose, other than to appeal to emotional responses. Anyone who has not made up their mind by now, need fact based commentary, not some idiot making stupid claims.
Also, that you say MSM pundits may gleam something from this site, proves my point. They are seeing that folks here are interested in Trump based on the number of comments he generates. That gives the MSM the OK to continue feeding the beast. I say for that very reason we, shouldn’t be discussing that kind of stuff here. I’m done now on this topic, lest I continue to contribute to killing innocent pixels over a person who isn’t even worthy of a keystroke.
Yeah…..But in Shakespeare, Does Not a King/Queen have a Jester?
I see both sides here on this. TRUMP is a Toad that needs to be made fun of. I also see why many would recoil at the mentioning of his name.
So Live and Let Live.
When TRUMP’s name is mentioned, I smile always or laugh for it brings back the take down that pres Obama gave Trump on April 30, 2011 at the WHCD.
To me, the place to make fun of Trump is somewhere he might actually see it. Twitter, for example.
+1
How many times do I have to laugh or mock Trump to know he’s a dumbass with no class? Every time that fool utters something foolish, it’s immediately posted on this site like it’s something new or shocking. It’s not. It’s the same shit, different day, albeit using different words. My problem with the whole Trump crap is just that: it’s crap. Why must we continuously humor someone we know is an attention whore who no one actually cares about? Also, I wonder what my disgust with Trump and his constant propaganda-making bs could possibly say about me in comparison to Trump?
Mitt Romney is Obama’s opponent and therefore Romney supporters are also Obama’s opponents. We neutralize their effectiveness by ridiculing them – repeatedly and frequently. It’s because of social media and blogs that Trump has been exposed as the idiot that he is. If this were 2000 or even 2004, the MSM would have allowed people like Trump to swiftboat our President. Just as they did Al Gore, Howard Dean and John Kerry.
I so agree with you and to even suggest that because we disagree with having to read or hear about what an ass says somehow reflects on us is offensive. I always look for humor and I love a good mockery of most anything. Trump and Mitt’s minions do not set off my humor meter at all. The stakes are too high and it’s no laughing matter right now. After he’s kicked to the curb is plenty time to ROTFLMAO. The time spent even now talking about him on this thread is more than he deserves. Same goes for pundits and polls. I’d love to do a word cloud sometimes just to see how few times PBO or positive campaign stuff is mentioned, relative to the other crap.
Here you go CM, a contribution to your dream word cloud.
I couldn’t get it to open, but thanks. This is what we need more of here.
Let’s see if this works better
I agree with Hopefruit that it says more about Romney than it does about Trump. Funny how the mainstream media hounded President Obama when Hilary Rosen said that Ann Romney hasn’t worked a day in her life. The entire Obama campaign, including the President himself, had to disavow Ms. Rosen even though she was not part of his campaign!!
I’ve yet to see the mainstream media go after Romney about Trump or Sununu even though they are part of his campaign and speak for him. It’s amazing!
Hurricane Sandy is a stark reminder that while the President has been campaigning with all his might, he’s also been running the country deftly with all his might. He didn’t have to adjust to “presidenting”, as someone so cutely said yesterday. He’s been President this whole time, having to humour those who think Mitt can do the job.
I just saw Halperin trying to excuse Romney’s craven excuse for campaigning under the guise of “relief rallying” – and he was saying that he doesn’t fault “either candidate” for their conduct during this crisis, and that that Romney still needed to be visible. There’s truth to the words that Romney couldn’t cede the last days of the campaign and leave the field to President Obama looking (and also BEING) presidential. But, he could easily have done a donation drive or gone to a local red cross to volunteer, called a press conference to rise to the occasion and impart information to those in need. He could have gone to the airports to provide help to those people stranded there. Praised the President and all the officials on their handling of a crisis. Backed up his stance that FEMA should be privatized (reprehensible, but I would have respected him for standing by his very clearly stated position). Instead, he raises boxes of canned goods that will do no good, I can only assume that it’s because he wants any cash donations going to his campaign and not to victims of the hurricane… There are a lot of things Romney could have done to remain visible – OR, he could have just waited two or three days and let the professionals handle the crisis, and then kick up again when the President is back on the trail.
President Obama said during the campaign “I’m not just a candidate. I’m the President”. And he shows us every single day that he is.
I really think this scumbag’s stratergy in OH and WI is going to backfire on the vulturevoucher2012 big time, even in red states.
Stephen Stills on Mitt Romney: ‘I Never Thought I’d See a Creepier Politician Than Nixon’
By Stephen Stills
—————————————–
Many people don’t understand the obstacles the Republican party has put in the way of President Obama. From day one, they’ve refused to let him govern. What is the value of the perpetual filibuster? You don’t get anything done at all. Mitt’s been calling for that since the first day. So we have watered down versions of everything Obama asked for. But the second term will get better. Even Bill Clinton, in the face of all that Ken Starr nonsense, managed to get a lot done in his second term.
I feel like I’m watching a long, drawn-out version of Blazing Saddles – all of the characters are there. At last, Obama found the Waco Kid. That’s Bill Clinton. Karl Rove is Hedley Lamarr, and the Republican caucus is the guys from the fire scene. They’re all in there. I swear.
.
.
With only a few days left, there is very little opportunity for nuance, so I will just tell you from my gut. I never in my lifetime thought I would see a creepier politician than Richard Nixon, but in the last few days, it became clear that Willard Mitt Romney is really, really creepy. Icky creepy, as my granddaughter would put it.
Halloween is over. Get off the couch, get to the polls, and vote the Democratic ticket. As a fellow citizen, I implore you to exercise your sacred trust and cast your ballot in favor of common sense and the future.

hahahahahahahhahaha!!! This guy is so right. he called Willard for how rude and ill bred he was during the debates. Too right!
Agreed. Great article.
Stephen Stills? Well I’ll be. Nice to hear from him.
Jeez louise, TODobots, why doesn’t somebody knock me up the side of the head when you are moving along, instead of leaving me standing gazing dreamily into the distance? You know that could be labeled as abandonment? Seriously! An entire HOUR OR MORE I’ve been LEFT ALONE slowly and calmly reading each entry, following leads, or musing on the comments, without a thought about checking the bottom after refreshing! 😦
Aww vcprez, had I known that it was you bouncing around cyberspace on your lonesome, I would have given you a heads up. At least, I would have joined you, since it’s usually me who is the last one to get a hint.
TY, CM. Appreciate your out stretched hand. 😉 I wasn’t sure if the family is trying to give me away by leaving me at the curb, so discovering that I’m not the only one left behind at times is a bit comforting. I’m going to try to be a bit more alert in the immediate future and see how things unfold.
Just heard Chuck Todd saying that the traveling press pool has been called in, so the President is getting ready to go somewhere.
Yes, I saw it on Twitter too. He’s probably headed to the North East?
To the Red Cross building in DC will be my guess. Or wherever the Red Cross building in….MD, VA?

Mitt Romney Helping with Flood Relief… In Ohio
By Bob Cesca
———————————
This is an actual quote from Romney:
“We’re counting on Ohio,” Romney continued. “I know the people of the Atlantic Coast are counting on Ohio and the rest of our states, but I also think the people of the entire nation are counting on Ohio because my guess is, my guess is if Ohio votes me in as President, I’ll be the next president of the United States.”

Oh my god. this guy…….. there are no words. Don’t know whether to laugh or curse up a blue storm.
Disgusting.
LOLGOP @LOLGOP
—————————
Dear media, You have an obligation to get Mitt on the record about FEMA and Roe before the election since you’ve given up on his tax returns
—————————
Yo! That’s bananas!
Doe anyone have photos from Romney’s Ohio rally today?
no
“GOOD”
Just heard a caller on Ed Schultz who said there were a couple of hundred people.
hahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha!!! All that trouble, just for the “couple hundred people” who were already going to vote for him any way. Smart.
With a couple of cans of creamed corn. Hilarious.
ABC News via radio made it sound like Mitt was honoring the storm crisis by giving a relief event. Instead he was using the crisis with a title inorder to have a political rally and keep on campaigning.
Hi Dudette, is that confirmed, I haven’t see it mentioned anywhere else yet??
Yikes, Dudette, that tweet’s from Dec 2010!
Arrgh. It was on the AP tweet line. Sorry. Should’ve confirmed. 😦
Ohhh… sorry, I’m following two AP twitter handles… one’s dormant! the current one is @AP ; old one is @associatedpress
Whack upside the head for me! Soooooo sorry!
Nooooooooooo worries!!!!
Good news… he IS gonna speak shortly. But from the American Red Cross, not WH. I’m psyhic! 🙂
I sound like Jovie – 🙂 – but, but, but:
President Obama made an unscheduled stop at the Red Cross headquarters in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday afternoon where he is expected to speak, per a White House pool report. His remarks will not be televised, however.

LOL! I guess we’re pining for our President today. We want to SEE him so badly! 🙂 🙂
Chips what oh what will we do in 2017 without our Obama fix?
Ah Hopefruit, I reckon he’ll play a very major role in world affairs for the next, oooooh, 40 years, so we’ll never go without!
And TOD will follow him all the way, right?
To the ends of the earth, Japa!
Ha haha! I’m slightly VINDICATED! He’s about to make remarks from Red Cross HQ. Thank you Mr. President and MSNBC 🙂

Now Dudette……You have it. Thank you so much.
In the land of the WTF? 😆
I don’t know how they can continue to shock me, but there it is.
Maybe Mitt’s campaign should ship those canned goods to Freeport for the ex-Sensata employees he just fired. Although I’m sure they would rather starve than eat anything with his name associated with it.
i think they’d ship those expired cans back to Willard’s many homes.
This is worth the dKos link. It’s heartwarming:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/30/1152517/-Swung-an-Undecided-voter-in-Ohio
ooooohhh!!! Look at all those “ethnic” people!!! They’re all young and spry, just fired up and ready to grab their walkers and motorized wheelchairs and head straight for the polls!
So diverse Lisa!!!
Amen! 😆
Look at all of that food!!! I mean shouldn’t those tables be overflowing? He has a whole campaign bus at the ready to drive through the snow covered streets of Ohio and the flood watered and rain soaked streets of Pennsylvania to deliver the goodies. I bet he had his staff go buy food for the optics. But we already knew he was a snake.
the canned goods were probably left over in the campaign bus from the McCain/Palin fiasco.
Really this food is useless because among other things, Red Cross volunteers are diverted from their real jobs to deal with stuff they don’t need and didn’t ask for. I worked for the Red Cross for 10 years and I can tell you this is just a gigantic waste of time and resources. The Red Cross does not distribute food to individuals. At shelters, they have contracts with local restaurants to deliver food in enough quantities to feed a lot of people. How idiotic is it to expect shelter workers to heat up individual pots of different soup cans or open one small can of corn to feed a crowd. The money is needed to get shelter supplies on a massive scale.
Thank you. I have friends who volunteer for the Red Cross and it is an amazing awesome logistics machine. Just awesome.
hilarious seeing the gadsden flag in the front row at an rmoney event! yes, begging for a vulture capitalist to come save your poor, downtrodden, bamboozled suburban white ass makes so much sense! like so many things, even the name of the “tea party” which i refuse to call them that, “the news” has bastardized the original meaning of these things, and the republican/looneytarian sheeple follow along obediently.
“don’t tread on me”…uh huh. just give this draft dodging tax evader with hundreds of millions of dollars many more millions, and then he and his friends will rain riches upon you! makes perfect sense. i’m beginning to think there’s a learning defect in the mind of the modern day republican. for real.

any live links for PBO sans the media filter?
The TEAGOP have lost their minds. I think they may mass Jonestown over NON-Benghazigate
As a new jerseyan, I am the world’s biggest anti-Christie person but he has been effusive in his praise of PBO:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/30/1152504/-Chris-Christie-tells-Faux-No-Photo-op-for-Romney-in-NJ
From a 2011 story. The Obama administration planned for this:
In May 2009, the Obama administration conducted a simulation exercise around the possibility of a Category 3 hurricane hitting New York City, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Friday.
The National Level Exercise, as it is known, was part of a coordinated effort by federal officials to prepare for a variety of disaster scenarios, including one very similar to what is likely to take place this weekend. President Obama himself participated in the exercise, one of the first of its kind by the new administration.
“The federal government’s preparation for this storm didn’t just begin as the clouds started to gather and form a tropical depression,” Earnest told reporters traveling with President Obama to Martha’s Vineyard.
“The federal government and this administration in particular is constantly exercising and preparing and testing and evaluating our readiness for situations like this,” he said.
There was a song by Bob Marley….or so….A hungry man is an angry man.
Romney needs a new form of that song.
A lying bishop, is a desperate Romney.
I thought in my youth Reagan was the worst…..Next to Nixon. Then there was GW Bush and Now, there is No one like this magic under garment wearing SOB, Willard. The man is loathsome.
Tweet from Andrea Mitchell
Red Cross tells us grateful for Romney donation but prefer people send money or donate blood dont collect goods NOT best way to help #Sandy
With all the Romney/Ryan millions, did it occur to them that they could donate money? These people disgust me.
PBO did speak to the Red Cross, but it was NOT televised. This was just him and them, no media, no photo op. Just President and Red Cross workers.
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/obama-visits-red-cross-headquarters
He might give a presser just to update on the situation and recovery efforts thus far – kind of like what he did yesterday.
yeah, that would be great. I miss seeing him, but I know he’s hard at work. I love that he just went to talk with and probably ask Red Cross workers what he can do for them.
actually lisalovesobama, I watched it so it was televised. 🙂
I am ……..GRATEFUL!
So many people are struggling and cannot believe the storm caused so much damage. Thank you Chips and everyone here for helping me get through the night. What a pitiful fool Mitt is. Canned food? Seriously?
Chips, could WE start a Red Cross donation page here and commitment from TODs who have voted to give blood?
In NYC we still have no Mass Transit. I am hoping everything is up and running by Friday so that I can travel to PA to volunteer.
Happy Birthday HZ and AMK!
This has been such a humbling experience in so many ways.
We must re-elect this president! Our lives and generations to come depends on this!
So glad you are ok LDS.
#FORWARD
Thank you, Bobfr. I just love your tweets. I enjoy the passion and masterful way you express what I am thinking. It is truly an art.
Nate Silver tweet:
CAN’T BELIEVE METOROLOGISTS USED MATH AND SCIENCE TO PREDICT THIS STORM. THEY MUST BE MAGIC WIZARDS.
Wow, that’s both remarkable and wonderful news. Thank you, Bob.
wow. that’s awesome!
This is what PBO is talking about. We’re all in this together.
hahahahhahahahhahhahahhahahhahahhahahahhahahahahahahhahaha!!!!
Bloomberg News: Romney ‘rented’ Mormon church’s exemption to defer taxes for 15 years
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney used a loophole to “rent” the Mormon church’s tax exemption status and defer paying taxes for 15 years, according to a new report.
“In this instance, Romney used the tax-exempt status of a charity — the Mormon Church, according to a 2007 filing — to defer taxes for more than 15 years,” Bloomberg’s Jesse Drucker explained. “At the same time he is benefitting, the trust will probably leave the church with less than what current law requires.

Glad you’re okay Kreen. Stay safe.
New post everyone:
https://theobamadiary.com/2012/10/30/being-president/
I’m listening to PBO speaking from the Red Cross location in DC on MSNBC. He is being so very Presidential and had mentioned the people who have lost their lives and their families. He commended the Governors affected for the job they’re doing. He mentioned Cuomo, Christie, and Bloomberg by name. He’s giving kudos to the first responders, the rescue swimmer who helped save the distressed ship, the nurses who helped evacuate the babies in the hospital and thanked the responses. He directed folks to the Red Cross web site for donations. He ended by saying ‘we should be good neighbors until after the storm affects are over’. Take that Mitt for brains.
