Hi!
Keeping up with you guys is all the exercise my fingers can handle. 🙄
Another way to say …THANKS! 😀
Yo! Glad I’m not first again! 🙂
Decided to sneak ahead (meaning it was a fluke for me)! 😀
And believe it or not, I have been offline since my last comment on previous thread… Opened to check in, and found myself standing beside you again, well, a little to the rear, but close! Offline soon, as I am seeing my data count falling, so must be frugal. No sense making AT&T any wealthier than they already are!
Agree with you about AT & T. Luckily the month is almost over.
Have a good evening! {{{MP}}}
Easy wid that. I retired from that outfit. 😉
Congrats VC! Looking good! 🙂
You think so? /smoothing sides and preening/ Good, no further exercising for me! 😀
Seriously, it’s nice to see you! 😛
😀 😀 😀
Good to see you too! 😀
Republicans have failed to hold the CR hostage to defunding Obamacare. And they’ll fail holding the debt ceiling as well. And Obamacare is too huge to be ignored, even by our feckless media. Bill Kristol foresaw the awesome power of healthcare reform years ago: once it becomes fact, the GOP will eventually die. Or, if not die, then change and kick out the right wing extremists.
The idiot Cruz can talk for 21 hours for all I care - we are BLITZING twitter with the FACTS about OBAMACARE. No more lies!
YES! As Pres. Obama would say: Yes We Can! and Forward!
You know Utal, it fascinates me that in one post you count beautifully to 50 and in the other you’re confused getting to two. 😕 😛
Hahahahahaha. I blame Chips. 😀
Yes, Chips Chica has a lot to answer for….on the Day of Accounting. 😆 😆
Oi, I can count!! Ish!
😳 Huh? You were around? I didn’t know.
😀 😀
You’re a trouble-maker.
Sssshhh. Are you my friend or what? /in my best holier-than-thou voice/ Friends don’t call each other names.
I just call ’em like I see ’em…. 😉
BANNED!
.
.
.
Oh! I don’t have the banning power. Rats!
Ha!!
😛
‘Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely (or something like that)’
That’s a good lesson to learn, VC. Well done! 😉
UT, Last post and this one are great. You are to be applauded for all your work.
Thank you very much for the kind words. 😀
UT, you have done exemplary work in putting together this fabulous post on the ACA and the new health insurance marketplace. It is so thorough and informative. Having all of this information in one place is invaluable. I will be sending it to everyone on my email list. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to President Obama and our TOD family. You are a treasure. Love ya, LH
Thanks. I too appreciate the information you bring to TOD.
You’re the best!
Bwahahahahha!
Rev Al is reading Green Eggs & Ham and schooling Ted Cruz! 🙂
UT, you are on a roll!!!!! Thanks a gazillion for this, just had a visitor who dropped in “for five minutes”, and left two hours later 😕
Going back to read your 50 Facts again - beyond fantastic!!
Thanks so much Chiparoo and thanks for the wonderful space that is TOD.
::whispers to self: one step closer in getting Chips to abandon Man United and come over to Chelsea….MUAHAHAHA::
(1) Thank YOU Lady Lampard for that toooooOOOOoooOOOOoooo-wonderful-to-describe Obamacare post.
(2) I have almost forgiven United for Sunday’s hiccup after they beat Liverpool tonight. Pure joy.
(3) Chelsea? Who???
Not to be a spoilsport, but Man U’s second team beating Liverpool’s second team in the League Cup =/= getting demolished in a PL match by City.
Hahahahaha…you know you want to wear the Chelsea jersey soooooo bad.
(1) Congratulations. Your side managed to stop shoving cheesy puffs into their mouths and recover from last week’s hilarious defeat.
(2) Arsenal face Chelsea and Manchester United face Norwich City for the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. Tense and painful times ahead. Good luck!
Arsenal play Chelsea?? 😆 Should be fun between you and DCPlod!!!
Yeah…..”fun” times indeed. 😆
😆 She’s coming after ya already:
Pfft….Chelsea is going to knock out Arsenal, Ali style! Get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuumble!
The Special One v. The Puffy Coat. You all know whose side I’m on.
Adding Jay “Clark Kent” Carney to the fun:
Great move Jay. I missed the presser this morning.
Thanks for posting. Wasn’t that a fabulous opening to the briefing today. I am crazy, nuts for Jay. His admiration and respect for President Obama is on full display everyday. My heart aches for him because he has to deal with the useless and snarling jackals. I can just imagine them putting their hands over their ears as he was discussing those newspaper editorials.
Notice the language of the report though, he opened ‘by going on offensive’. Reporting language on this Admin nearly always has a negative/critical/judging undertone, no matter how positive the overall might be overall.
That be the WHPC - I think they should be called the Hate Brigade
Morning, 99ts, or is it afternoon? WHPC tops the list but IMO they are not the only ones. There has been many a time I refrained from sharing an ostensibly positive article on the president’s governing/admin (even written by presumed liberals) because the language used had lots of negative connotations. It’s like some of them have to leave the door open so that were he to ‘slip up’ they can say they knew all along he would.
Hi VC - it is 12.03PM - I am supposed to be doing chores - but am easily waylaid!
PBO doesn’t “slip-up” the media accepts GOP lies. The WHPC are the biggest whingers of any media people I have had the misfortune to come across. Horrible people
That’s is the absolute TRUTH, VC!
Are you ‘late comers’ trying to keep me from my bed? 😀 Isn’t going to work. I really have been sitting here for untold hours.
Hi Nathk!
.
Good night, Nathk!
I am notoriously late, VC. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I reside on the most southern tip of Southern California. I am actually closer to Mexico (15-20 minutes drive) than I am to Los Angeles(2/1-3hours drive). I some times work in the evenings (CA time) and by the time I come here it’s way past bed time for people on the East Coast. Any way, I am glad you responded to my comment because I liked your comment very much. If you’ve already turned in, Good night and sweet dreams!
Hey, has anybody pulled out the list so we can tweet it?
I’ve blocked this rag.
Gotta check out, but was just wondering, does anyone besides me think Cruz is sorry he read Green Eggs and Ham?
It tickles me pink to think of that cad
I know he’s pissed off at himself and quite mad
That he’s such a fool and the whole world now knows
Try to outdo Obama, and that’s how it goes
Thanks again, UT. Everyone who receives the info is overwhelmed with gratitude.
Thanks so much for spreading the information on ObamaCare far and wide.
Like our president, we have to keep our eyes and ears open in all directions. 😀 Check this out.
“The only way forward is for a timeline to be inserted into the negotiations that’s short…The shorter it is, the more beneficial it is to everyone,” Iranian president tells Washington Post.
“Kerry will join Fabius, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the German and Chinese foreign ministers for the meeting. Also present will be European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
The meeting bringing the top US diplomat and new Iranian foreign minister around the same conference table will be highly unusual given that the United States has not maintained diplomatic relations with Iran since 1980.
US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Washington was interested in more than words from the Iranians.
“We hope that the new Iranian government will show and not just say they are prepared to engage substantively, and tomorrow is an early test of that proposition,” she said.”
Thank you for the link, VC!!
YVW, Bobfr. Remember, there’s no ‘you’ in TOD TEAM! 😉 😉
thanks for this information - totally missed it.
was trying to convince people yesterday that such complex negotiations are bound to happen behind closed doors & not just with the cameras focused as at the UNGA
My pleasure, GCL. Somewhere in the article (or in another I read) mention was made that a lot must have been going on ‘behind closed doors’, so to speak.
Find myself chuckling and hoping the Internet and phone providers are ready for what will hit them starting less than a week from today. Obamacare popular? BOOM! 😆
Heeheee.
This guy’s tweet tells us who launched it. So awesome!
https://twitter.com/agjaffe/status/381071447541575680
Yes, he probably feels like Mitt Romney does.
Well, not our job to feel sorry for his sorry ass.
President Obama showed them what he did with that fly.
I am personally going to have my own party on Oct. 1st playing
Signed. Sealed. Delivered. All day!
This is bigger than they want us to believe.
Affordable health care for millions!
When I think of the people who died senseless(some of own).
It makes me angry. Not mad….just damn angry enough to make sure we vote these blood suckers out in 2014!
Thank you, Mr. President.
Above comment was in reference to how Ted Cruz maybe feeling…….
As if we give a damn.
Just had to clear that up because so many posts in between.
Western envoys tout deal on core of UN Syria draft; Russia denies
By REUTERS
09/26/2013
‘
After weeks of haggling, the United States, Russia, France, China and Britain have agreed on the core of a UN Security Council resolution to rid Syria of its chemical weapons, three Western diplomats said on Wednesday, but Russia denied such an agreement and insisted work was “still going on.” ‘
http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Western-envoys-tout-deal-on-core-of-UN-Syria-draft-Russia-denies-327108
There is sooooo much that an actual reporter could/would cover, if we had a decent MSM.
Who KNEW that there are 129 MILLION people with pre-existing conditions????
That’s almost half of our population.
I think that only the 24% of the die-hard bigots who believe that our President is a Muslim Kenyan socialist, etc.would fail to be moved by this information. Only the truly bigoted and/or cruel would wish for no health insurance for nearly half of their fellow citizens.
I have a bit of history with pre-existing conditions.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve lived with a stutter for most of my life.
Ten years ago I found a doctor who was experimenting with the medical treatment of stuttering. I put myself under his care, and the rest is history. I still have a bit of a stutter, but nothing like I had before I began treatment. There is no way I could do the job I do today without this medication.
Fast forward a couple of years where I’m sick and tired of not having insurance. I decide to go buy some. I fill out the questionnaire, and list my doctor treating me for stuttering and the medication I took. Every single insurance carrier denied me as stuttering was a pre-existing condition. Mostly I needed the insurance to pay for the medication. But I couldn’t get insurance because I was on medication. So I wound up re-applying, leaving out the stuttering, and turning to the Internet to buy my medication, out of pocket, which was less expensive than in a pharmacy, but still a good chunk of change a month.
So, yes, insurance not being able to deny you because of a stutter, or prior depression, or acne is a BFD.
Agree with you 100%. So does Joe “BFD” Biden.
But who knew almost half the population has a pre-existing condition (not counting the GOP who considers being a woman a pre-existing condition)?
It seems to me that the MSM is AVOIDING providing ANY information about ACA because, as EJ Dionne and others have pointed out, the GOP is terrified that ACA will work (which of course is being terrified of the inevitable).
When will we get the pitchforks and torches out for the MSM?
I’m working on something addressing this. Local media is quite proactive in explaining ACA. Fox and CNN and MSNBC explain nothing of importance, so I’m not too surprised.
On that very point LL:
Obamacare is getting really good local coverage
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/wp/2013/09/25/obamacare-is-getting-really-good-local-coverage/
I had the same issue as you back in 1991 I started a job where I had to buy my own insurance. Back then just being a woman was not a pre-existing condition but I had surgeries and treatment that still existed. I lied on the application because I knew I had pre-existing conditions that would send the policy skyrocketing beyond my reach. Luckily for me the insurance companies were not researching peoples past back then and kicking people off. My insurance premiums were affordable and I got treatment and my insurance did not go up that much over the two years before I became a permanate employee with benefits.
🙂
PBO just doing the job of congress and the media - but will they ever admit it - when the history of 44 is written the biggest losers will be the WHPC.
Identified Pentagon leaker—-Marine Gen. goes bad
Read the article but it doesn’t make any sense because it demonstrates that the vice chairman can definitely keep secrets; lots of them. Someone set him up.
thank you so much ut for the wealth of info on ObamaCare- my middle son will hopefully be able to get in the exchanges… I am so grateful for your hard work- spreading it far and wide.
Thanks Sherijr!
Don’t blame me. It’s the elephants.

Good, I’ve been checking in on my local RiteAid, hoping this would happen. It’s a big deal for them to get on board.
Good afternoon all TODbots. WOW, UT you have outdone yourself with all this great information. I have to say I have been having a conversation with @fodder4skeptics on twitter about Obamacare. So far there hasn’t been any name calling, but I find him so ill informed. It didn’t seem to matter that my daughter in law, who had breast cancer, will now be able to get insurance where ever she goes. All he talks about is the loss of freedom. I don’t mind talking with him, but I always wonder if he is a paid troll and all my words will never make any difference. But I will continue just in case he is a misinformed citizen. I would never had had the nerve to do this without all the wonderful information and support at this great site.
Thank you all!!
Thanks MtMarilyn and thanks for all you do.
I’m sure there must be more context, but standing on it’s own, THIS is funny!
I was surprised that Tweety, who would marry the Clintons if he could, had the writer from the New Yorker who just penned a piece titled, “The Coming Hillary Clinton train wreck”. I haven’t read it all yet, but writer says there are a multitude of possible scandals—-once again—-that would accompany her candidacy—-lots of questions about donations to Bill’s Global Initiative foundation—-about buying access to the Clintons—-about how Hillary’s State Dept. travels coincided with donations—-and the accounting. A warning that I have thought about—-that she would probably easily win the Dem nomination but all hell would break loose in the pres. campaign. And I agree with people that say they don’t want to talk about this yet—-but just happened to see this segment on Tweety—-and it’s already being foisted upon us.
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/closeread/2013/09/the-coming-hillary-clinton-2016-campaign-train-wreck.html
In 2013, the Clintons are more trouble than they are worth. I really hope that she does not run for President. It’s gonna be a messy scandal ridden campaign. Oh, and let’s not forget that every woman Bill Clinton slept with post presidency will be on every magazine cover and talk show you can think of. The media ignored his girlfriends back in ’08 when they were pulling for a Hillary win. And I think had she won the primary, during the general, the msm would have let loose on her about Bill’s affairs.
If she runs, it’s going to be awful and ugly and a low point for Democrats after the high of President Obama.
Before Hillary fever started, Martin O’Malley was at the forefront of the 2016 Democratic hopefuls. I hope he continues on a path to run in 2016 because I think he would make an excellent President. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see a woman in the Whitehouse, but there is definitely alot of baggage for Hillary.
I’m with you, Jackie. I’d vote for O’Malley in any primary that did not include Joe Biden.
Loss of Freedom? What does that mean and what does that look like? He loses his freedom if people can afford healthcare? They can NEVER tell you the real reason they dislike Obamacare. All their arguments are debunked so the only think left is “freedom”.
My President is not only brilliant, he has a great sense of humor!
Read the transcript from last night’s fundraiser:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/09/24/remarks-president-fundraising-reception-ny-ny
I have gotten a lot of backlash today on twitter by people who have 6 followers, 21 tweets and an egg for an avatar. They are RWNJs and they are out to discredit Obamacare. We must fight back steadily and consistently.
I’ve been blocking and reporting a bunch of them …
That’s how to do it…..
Rock ’em, sock ’em, BLOCK ‘EM!
Feel free to use this all you want!
Thank you! They are really duplicating like crazy! Desperate and sick.
for each such attacks, I am trying something different - responding with an informative link or information about Obamacare
Yes! That’s the way!
Helloooooooo people, I’ve been thinking of changing the font on the site for a while, did you like the one in UT’s post?
https://theobamadiary.com/2013/09/25/obamacare-a-fact-or-fifty/
Any thoughts on changing to that one?
Thank yooooou!
I like Helvetica, but it depends on the kerning.
Thanks Meta, I’m clueless about it all, haven’t a notion about playing around with the kerning here, need to research a bit 😕
Helvetica, or sans serif type, has become more popular in many ways, especially for the web. Kerning just has to do with the spacing between letters. Sometimes when it’s scrunched up, it’s too hard on the eyes. I like the previous post but would like to see it without bold to be sure. Go for it!
I did like the font. It was legible. I would be okay with the current font or the proposed new one.
I vote new. Less boldy.
Agree.
Thanks LL - do you mean you like the new one, but if it was less boldy?!
No, the new one is less boldy, compared to the old one. Which is a good thing.
And a bit of housekeeping: I have a new piece ready to go. Would tomorrow be good, so we can wind down tonight?
Ah, okay LL, thank you! Might try the change so, see what the general reaction is.
Another piece? You are the Chicharito Hernández of my world! Tomorrow would be perfect, maybe after PBO’s speech? Thanks again LL.
Hey Chips, I wouldn’t mind if LL posts his stuff right now. It’s ObamaCare centered and today has been about ObamaCare so it would fit right in.
Perfect, thanks UT, post away LL!
Tomorrow, or now, since this post is getting commenty.
“commenty” 😆
Fire ahead so LL, and thank you again!!
Chips, would the change in font also affect the comment section, or is that controlled by WordP? I find the comment section blurry and could really use some help there (and don’t say ‘put on your glasses’ because most of the time I have them on).
I’m working on something else and I see your post is about ObamaCare, which is pretty much the theme of the day so just fire away after this post hits 100+ comments.
That’s what I figured. Best to keep with the theme o’ the day.
Go ahead and post. The way is paved for ya! 😀
LIVE NOW: Vice President Biden Speaks at the Clinton Global Initiative Global Citizens Award Dinner (Audio Only) - http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/vice-president-biden-speaks-clinton-global-initiative-global-citizens-award-dinner
Wooot!
Awesome! Thanks, D.
LOL!
Rouhani stressed that he is “fully empowered to finalize the nuclear talks” by Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, a claim confirmed by Western intelligence reports. Analysts say Khamenei was surprised and rebuffed by the popular wave of support for Rouhani’s moderate policies and has given him a chance to cut a deal.
The Iranian president wants to move very quickly to resolve the nuclear issue, through negotiations. Rouhani said his “choice” would be a three-month timetable, and that six months would still be “good,” but this should be a matter of “months, not years.” The speedy timeline may reflect the pressure of sanctions on the Iranian economy or Rouhani’s fear of a political backlash from conservative rivals. Whatever the reason, the time is short.
One of the most intriguing exchanges came when I asked Rouhani about his campaign statements that he wanted to reduce the power of security agencies such as the Revolutionary Guard Corps. He reaffirmed this goal of broadening cultural and social life and “diluting the security dimensions of society.” As for the Guard Corps, he said, “it shouldn’t get itself involved in any political groupings or activities,” echoing a similar statement a week ago by Khamenei. This is important because any real diplomatic breakthrough will be impossible unless Khamenei checks the Guard Corps’ power.
Help! Got some good stuff here!
I’m not sure how to tweet this flicker presentation of a bunch of Obamacare infographics. Anybody know how to pull these out and tweet them is individual pictures?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hhsgov/9526378610/in/set-72157633968047018/lightbox/
Found them here: http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/facts/blog/2013/08/communities-of-color.html
[click on the graphic on the right]
Thanks Dudette. I’ll include it in the Rise and Shine post.
Great! 🙂
UT, I uploaded all 15 images to the TOD library……. save you some time. You may want to re-size them depending on placement, but you have that option now.
Thanks LP. They’ll come in handy for tomorrow’s Rise and Shine post that I’m working on.
NP, I saw you working on RS in drafts…….figured I would save you the hassle. You may want to split into two/three separate threads…. they take up a lot of space! Look forward to your post….
On the http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/facts/blog/2013/08/communities-of-color.html page you will want to right click on the image and select Save image. That will download a copy to your computer.
Then, start a new tweet and click the camera icon and then select the image file and you now have the image in your tweet ready to go 🙂
Got it. Thanks Bob!
Dudette, I got you covered. Click on the flicker photo (mouse in the middle of the infograph) then select the largest size (800) for the first one…. then right click over the pic……’save as’…. ” .jpg” in pictures. Then insert into your tweet like you would from any photo on your computer.
Thanks LP! This thing is like a goldmine! Please grab some of them on help me tweet away.
Were you able to covert to .jpg’s from the Flickr page? I meant to tell you to right click first, then select 800-2040 for size……that will take you to a version of the infograph that you can right click “save as” to your compter as a .jpg then tweet using the camera function. I always pic the largest size, because if somebody wants to copy from your tweet and post on a WP thread it will be the biggest version, but it will look the same in your tweet. I will do my service by uploading all the graphs to the TOD library so UT/Chips can use for R&S. Let me know if you have any more ?’s will walk you through it 🙂
The question now is whether Khamenei’s concept of heroic flexibility will be sufficient to the task of reducing hostility with the United States. There is some reason to think that it will be. Judging from the events of recent days, including the Iranian government’s release of a group of political prisoners and its hints of domestic liberalization, Khamenei is willing to make some compromises to achieve diplomatic progress. It remains to be seen, of course, how much flexibility he is willing to show when it comes to discussing the details of Iran’s nuclear program.
But the United States should certainly be prepared to consider compromises of its own, including curtailing the sanctions that even the Iranian opposition considers an aggressive affront to national sovereignty and pride. The United States may also have to belatedly recognize the legitimacy of the Islamic Republic, and cease its attempts to manufacture regime change.
Nevertheless, the establishment of amicable relations between Iran and the Untied States need not wait until they share the same values. The United States, after all, manages to maintain good relations with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, countries that are even farther from democratic ideals than the Islamic Republic. Of course, the United States is free to hold its political and moral values to be above those of the Islamic Republic. But the only way to produce a productive relationship with Khamenei may be to accept that he will continue to act as if Iran’s Islamic model of development is superior to that of liberal democracy.
